    I have 3 actuators in my room and will seriously consider building the same type of platform for better results. I've had them for a few years and at the time bought them instead of upgrading or adding more subs. They are awesome on my concrete floor.

    With the right content, I've found that I can consistently tune Crowson timing to 1ms. A tone generate can indeed help with linearity, even with Crowsons. I think the chairs just resonate, even though the Crowsons are quite linear. It can be different for different seats, though. I agree that the typically recommended 6db@10hz LPF is too steep and cuts too much high frequency content. I used stacked high-shelf filters to create a 3db@10hz slope rolloff. That was perfect for me, but the key is the ability to tune that slope to your taste and setup. (Set them to power of 2 frequencies, Q of .707, and cut according to the desired slope. -3db per high-shelf for a 3db/octave slope.)

    I have been looking forward to this video, thank you! I have been learning a lot about transducers lately since shopping for them. Another great reason I have found to use a MiniDSP with transducers is its Compressor ability which allows you to feel the transducers with the volume low and then limit their max output as you turn up the volume to keep them feeling natural and not getting too crazy.

    @hometheatergurus --- Is it necessary to use their amplifier?
    Could a stereo, home theater, or loudspeaker amplifier be used instead?

    • @hometheatergurus
      @hometheatergurus  2 месяца назад

      No you don't have to use their amp. If the loudspeaker amp has enough power you can use it. The signal is from the Lfe channel so to use an avr you'd need a spare one so you can use it basically as amp but I would not attempt that as they usually don't have much power and it would be kind of a "rigged" system.

    Can you please elaborate on how you added a extra cable to get better performance?

      Interesting, can you elaborate more. For lowest frequencies which do you think can sustain the best bass output below 20Hz. Can I ask if you use the Z bracket with Q10B for more leverage/bass extension?

    • @mozeyaround
      @mozeyaround 11 месяцев назад

      @@Mr_Latte_UK Yes, I am using the Z bracket with each Q10B. The Crowsons seem to hit a lower frequencies, however the Q10B seem to be much more powerful at the moment. I'm looking at adding BEQ to my setup to see if that makes enough of a difference to keep the Crowsons.

    5:00, well, with the BOSS system, you can just filter anything above 20-25, You don't need to hear the bass as your normal subs are for that. Boss is just for tactile, so that's not a problem. And with this system, you can make your seats move 2-3 cm up, like 1 inch up. But it is janky.
    As long as these can provide what they claim, 5hz, then these are golden.

    Is it possible to add these or any other transducers to a Sony HT-A9?
    New to the space and really enjoy 360 spatial sound the A9 produces. Just moved to a new apartment so looking to get some more bass without pissing off the neighbors. However the A9s are not a traditional setup with an amp, so not sure how to add something this. Are any of these components compatible with eARC HDMI?

    Nice video with good inforfmation. I have used some form of tactile enhancement since the late 1990's, starting with Clark Synthesis. The Crowson is definetly the best pick for this type of solution. I have moved to D-Box (way more expesive and a different experience) since 2011.

    great video, thank you. I have 4 actuators on the way to me. will use on a set of 3 seats. so the middle seats get two, and then one each on the outer seats.
    I guess in that scenario I don't need a platform. I will have one each of extra isolation feet, for one of the rear feet on the outer seats.
    But... I think your platform is interesting. i wonder if it would be advantageous for me. I am wondering if I need an area where the floor is uncarpeted, so the actuators can have a firm surface to push on.

    i have multiple 18inch Marty subwoofers in my concrete room. so no room rattling and at my listening level (-10db) i can feel lot of tactile bass in my recliner from head to toe. i have sound controlled room, so i can listen at any levels all the time. my marties have flat response till 15hz and give great tactile bass at all seats. so, is there any advantage for me to invest in this Crowson or any tactile transducer ? many movies don't have much bass below 15hz without using BEQ. for 2000$,i can build two 21inch full marty in India.

    • @hometheatergurus
      @hometheatergurus  11 месяцев назад

      If you have 100 full martys you don't have what these deliver. You can tactile energy at all levels. and don't have to pressurize the room to feel it which i a concrete room you need a lot of spl to get tactile. In my current room I have Devs, in my old room i had basically 4 full Martys and they bring another element.

      @@hometheatergurus i really get a lot of tactile energy in my recliner, From legs to head.i know it is difficult to believe that in a concrete room. Even my phone or remote moves a lot in some scenes. So i was wondering,how much more would these do. I think these will be more useful for people who can't listen at high spl and have problems with room rattling. I watch movies ,tv series and game daily,majority movies doesn't have much content below 20hz. Unless we use BEQ.

    So did I understand it correctly that you don't have your Crowson sub signal going through your MiniDSP? I also have an Anthem AVM 70 and a balanced MiniDSP Flex. I run the balanced sub outputs from the Anthem through the MiniDSP Flex using XLR-to-TS balanced cables and then one of my outputs from the MiniDSP Flex goes to the Crowson amp using a TS-to-RCA cable. That gives me significant control over the signal going to the Crowsons and, most importantly, allows the Crowsons to get the benefit of BassEQ that is controlled through the MiniDSP. It works great. BassEQ is a must-have in my opinion especially for transducers that are trying to reproduce ultra-low content. Using the MiniDSP for controlling the Crowson signal also allows you to dial in precise roll-off curves for the Crowsons that are different than the subs with more control than what the Crowson amp provides.

    • @hometheatergurus

    • @benkrause2108
      @benkrause2108 11 месяцев назад

      @@hometheatergurus what I described still runs them flat. You just have better control over the roll off than what you get with the amp and it allows you to use them with BassEQ for movies that restores the lower frequency output of the movie.

    Are crowsons worth spending the extra $$$ over the full size buttkicker lfe's? I currently run the buttkickers and they also have substantial output in the subsonic range but cost much less than crowsons do.

    • @hometheatergurus
      @hometheatergurus  11 месяцев назад

      I'd imagine if your BKs are actually extending linear under 10hz you'd not real gain anything. However I don't know that the BK have linear output that low but if they do.... I'd stay with them. I've just always suspicious as I know sub manufacturers will hear output equivalent to a flea farting and claim it as "usable output".

    • @LeeLee-fi7mx
      @LeeLee-fi7mx 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@hometheatergurus Buttkickers definitely embilish the specs on the smaller buttkicker minis which bottom out very easily below 25hz but I do get substantial output with the full size buttkicker lfe's. Not sure about how linear the output is as 10hz has a different feel than 20hz but when playing the opening scene in EOT, there is substantial couch shaking output.

    • @shaolin95
      @shaolin95 8 месяцев назад

      BKs LFE have a TON of potential and the feeling is very different from Crowsons so I wouldnt say is one or the other if you can add both or better yet a HoverEze and the BKs.
      As far as bottoming out, IF you push them extremely hard yes you can boittom them out but if you use a MiniDSP, you can fine tune it to the point they will deliver a MASSIVE impact without letting them bottom.
      Also, I love how they like to mention the BK bottoming yet they dont mentiont he crowsons overheating and flatout stop working until they cool down when pushed LOL
      Salesmen...what can you do about them :D
