I really wish that there were more SUVs with the more boxy look. I hate the curves on the cars. Now I must admit I like the Forester, but SUVs today have lost the Utility in them. The Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited, and Jimny are essentially all that's left. The Jimny is fitting in the true practicality of an SUV, it is pretty small. However a great offroad vehicle.
i bought the 2015 version of this suv a couple of months ago. i didn't get the navigational system because i am in my vehicle on average, less than an hour a day. and, i usually do not take my personal vehicles on long road trips, i rent cars for that. so, no frills for me.. and, i love this jeep.
im getting a 2008 jeep patriot..for cheep. low miles and it looks the exact same to this model. but a different color, rims, steering wheel, and radio. but then again the last owner (family friend) added their own gadgets. im pretty excited to get it tomorrow.
I didn't need all the doodads. Got the 2014 Sport with the 2.4 and 5M. Power is amazing. Much more than my 05 Subaru OutBack. Test drove the automatics and they are gutless. The last of the breed. If you want a duty specific 4x4 without paying for useless features this is it.

Out the door was $16,500 (leftover 2014 model). I wouldn't pay an extra $8,000 just to get power windows, mirrors, alloy wheels and navigation.
The Patriot is a crossover. It has a car based FWD chassis it shares with the Dodge Caliber and Chrysler Sebring among others. What the sheet metal looks like doesn't change the capabilities of the vehicle other than perhaps square shapes adding a bit more cargo space.
Just got a 014 2.4L 4X4 North 6 speed Auto( no CVT ) really like the tough looking little rugged Jeep,great smooth driver.....really like the new for 014 on the Patriot, 6 speed Auto Trans.Love everything about this vehicle comfortable smooth driver and rugged looking styling ( I hope Jeep doesn't change the retro styling)...it looks like a Jeep....not a stylized egg shape like everything else out there....YUK!!......Keep that square style truck,tough,rugged look JEEP!!....Two Thumbs UP!!!This little Jeep will be great in the snow, and go down some trails I wouldn't have,in my last vehicle.

I own a photo booth business and need to get something like this to carry boxes and things, I was considering a SOUL Scion but I can't help thinking it looks CHEAP, I feel like I will get more of a car going with this JEEP. It's not trying to look like the rest, its keeping it's own look you know.
It's a pretty cool looking Jeep, before I ended up buying a Commander, I was actually looking into buying one of those, it reminds me of the XJ, which I also have one for over 20 years and it's a freaking awesome Jeep

The Patriot Compass are more of a soft roader crossover than a SUV. It has a nice driving position, and way cheaper than a Toy Rav or a CRV. They should keep it around another year or two, but 16 should be it so they should be some serious discounts in the fall,

Actually, I like my Patriot. Its a 2wd manual so it gets very good mileage (31.5 mpg since purchase) and has OK power. The manual is definately the way to go with the smaller engine. The Patriot sees heavy discounting so it is hard to beat the street price. The Kia Soul was the only thing comparable.
Crossover means truck like body built on a car chassis. The Patriot is built on the Dodge Caliber chassis. The Honda CRV on the Civic platform or chassis.
Yep, but it definitely feels beefier than a car. It's got way more ground clearance than a car and you don't have to baby it as much when going over onstructions. It's a great compromise between a car and a traditional truck-based SUV.

Buy one or drive one. I mean $16k for a 4x4 SUV is a darn good deal. You can barely get a Chevy Spark for that type of money.
Bought a brand new 2015 yesterday..They updated and gave me all these extras for no extra cost..I am in LOVE with it!!

Justin L Yes the chassis is modified. The new Cherokee is built on the Dodge Dart platform as is the new Chrysler 200.
