This is my first car and honestly I’m just wanting to upgrade and have fun with it
Great first car!
Same!
i used to think doing mods like this to small suvs looked silly, but after actually going on alot of "adventure" type jeep trails, i realised that my vehicle and all the other ones i saw on the trail were overkill for what we were doing and i was easily spending $200 on a daytrip for gas, so ya by all means put a winch on your subaru or whatever you want, its about as much fun by the end of the day
Absolutely stellar video/ channel packed with loads of ideas and info, I just bought a 2015 North Edition with 59k Km’s just 1 month ago and appreciate the content you have put into these. Great job! Thanks
Thank you!! 59k km's is barely getting started
I like those grand Cherokee rims. The red and gold looks nice.
Good info, thanks! I've got the black on black wheels and so far so good.
I love how those wheels look. What would be the tire size equivalent to 215/60r17 to put on those cherokee wheels? I want them on my compass 2010. Sorry 4 my English greetings from México 🇲🇽
Thanks! The closest equivalent size for 15" wheels would be 215/75R15 which is 1.8% larger diameter on the outside, or 215/70R15 which is 1.1% smaller.
I just got a jeep patriot same color as yours and am trying to make it a little cooler lol this video gave me a couple good ideas, thanks 👍
I just bought a 2012 Sport few weeks ago. Your older review was one the main reason why I bought it. I bought a K&N cold air intake that I going to install soon, I have in mind other mods you already performed keep up the good work‼️🫡💪
Hello Diego, did you ever install the cold air?
@@squieggy4851 Yes, sir.
Great job, cool mods, real handyman!
Very nice modification I love my jeep patriot I have 1 Question for you can I put on 235x65x17 on my patriot FWD
Yep, 235/65R17 fits great, depending on your wheels. You'll want to use JSCAN to recalibrate the Jeep for the new tire size that not only keeps your speedometer accurate it also makes sure the electronic throttle and the transmission are working their best with the actual speed you're moving.
Thanks for the info again love your jeep
I have the original MK74 2007 Jeep Patriot. A question - I have the tow hitch on the back corner, and it's indeed screwable in - i've used it. In your video you mention that only trail rated patriots have this? Mine is just regular "limited" version 2.4L 4WD. So, is it a older model quirk or is mine secretly a trail rated one?
I've never seen one with a threaded nut behind the stamped bumper substructure, though I have seen that in a few related cars. I have only ever looked that closely at a half dozen Patriots and all were post-refresh (2011+ )
The trail rated rear bumper cover is visually very different with a large, in-the-mold cutout through which the hook extends. The hook itself is bolted with two fasteners through the chassis rail (closest equivalent to a frame on a unibody car) and several inches lower than the bumper substructure.
If yours has the threaded nut I think it's likely you could perform light recovery with it, where only a few hundred pounds of steady force is applied but I would advise against any rough recovery to avoid ambulance rides and the like.
A lot of this stuff you mentioned about being trail rated doesn't have to do with being trail rated. My 2014 latitude came with the front steel skid plate and front and rear recovery hooks.
Very cool, I love my 2014 keep Patriot and I’m thinking about doing some upgrades to it
Nice looking jeep man! Would you say it has enough power for medium off road adventures? Been thinking about buying one but not sure if its adequate to go off roading
Everyone's idea of off road is different but I'm going to say no, not the right car to buy if you have the goal of adventuring in the dirt. Even if you equip it with skidplates and recovery points it just doesn't have the torque to climb steep grades or force its way across tough moguls and there's no real way to improve that aspect.
If you imagine the kind of roads a Corolla could force its way through with some damage, a Patriot will cruise through those without drama or damage. Neglected forest service roads to hiking trails, snowed over rural roads and driveways.. but nothing that's got a sign that says "Jeep Trail" .
@shoveI thanks man! I really appreciate it! Will start looking into something different then, probably something with a v6
Does the 235/75r15 fit in the spare tire hole?
Unfortunately no, the spare tire well is a bit shallow for the full width of the tire (235 is a bit over 9" and the sidewalls bulge to over 10" ) and even if you deflate the tire there just isn't room to smash it down there and keep the load surface in place.
Your options would be to either keep the OE spare, which is smaller and will make traction control/ABS go into failure mode while you're using it but should get you home if you're not way out in the bush, or put a fullsize spare on top of the load surface (strap it down to reduce danger if you're in a collision), or you could get a 17" spare wheel from another vehicle and mount a 165/90R17 temporary spare on that which is about the same diameter as a mounted 235/75R15 just skinny. I can't guarantee it but I am reasonably confident that would fit under the cover if you trim the liner blanket a little.
Do you have a link for the hub centric rings you used to make the grand Cherokee wheels work?
Sure - they're 67.1mm (the hub of the Patriot) to 71.5mm (the bore of the wheels) - amzn.to/4crstH8
You might also need VERY thin wheel spacers just on the front if your brakes graze the wheel. I found mine just barely touched the wheel after I put new pads on (the new pad thickness moved the caliper slightly) so I got 3mm spacers with the same 67.1mm center bore and put them behind the rings.
Hi, what was the problem with your old big tires ? 235*75*16 ?
I would put 215*80*16 on mine , bad idea ? Lifted and spaced.
Thanks for your videos.
I think perhaps I've been mistaken for someone else, I've never had 235/75R16 tires on this Jeep. Those would be a full inch larger diameter and almost certainly would rub on the pinch weld; might possibly rub on the front spring perch as well.
I have never seen 215/80R16 available for sale.
@@shoveI Sorry. It was 235*75 R15 . Not hard for the transmission ? Too much for the engine ? I have the 2L ,manual diesel.
Hi im in the uk and would like to add the skid plates on the rear do you have a link to a company that i can purchase these for my 2011 Patriot 2.2 CRD Jeep please excellent mods on your Patriot btw
I don't know anywhere in particular to buy the skidplates (or for sure if they fit the diesel ones) - the part numbers are in the video description and I suspect your best bet is to just put those in google or whatever search you use - example the front steel skidplate is 5105236AB and it looks like mymoparparts dot com has them in the USA, would be prohibitive to ship your direction unless you've got the coin to spare. I believe these were also sold in eastern europe and the soviet republic so the parts might come from east of you for a bit less money.
Yes you can supercharger it be alote fun but if ur going to do that u should get a chip so you can play with the gas an timing an last get a shift kit in trany an to top it off get a old rear end out of an old jeep an ur be pleased
Is there any chance you have any links to the supercharger that would work for this as well as a compatible chip, tranny shift kit what do you mean by the old rear end out of an old Jeep? Thank you
Would it be possible too put a turbo with the Jeep Patriot 2.4L high altitude 4x4
Possible? Sure. So far to my knowledge lots of people have talked about it but nobody has successfully done it.
Here's the challenges:
The ECU controls both the engine and the transmission, so replacing with an aftermarket ECU would require one that can control the transmission too (unless you have a manual Patriot). As far as I know the ECU is locked and there hasn't been enough demand for an aftermarket manufacturer to bypass it like on Wranglers and Rams.
Another difficulty is that the transmissions on these cars probably wouldn't enjoy a long life behind turbo power.
I'm not saying it can't be done but I think most people just don't feel like it's worth the effort for an appliance car.
If I was real set on having a powerful Patriot I'd probably look into buying a wrecked Dodge Journey V6 and powertrain swap since they're both built on the same platform and later model Journeys got pentastars.
What company made the license plate light bracket?
The mount is made by ACI and the part number is 90416
Great video! I love seeing simple upgrades that make this Jeep even better. Do you have a link for the front recovery hooks?
You can get the whole kit from justforjeeps dot com - sorry it looks like an actual link won't work here in the comments. The price there makes some folks squeamish but the way I look at it the first time I really need them they paid for themselves. However that website is nice enough to list the part numbers under the package so you can google the part numbers individually and then search those & try to save some money. The bolts aren't unique, but the little captive nut carriage things are (like a square threaded nut insert thing that presses into a hole in the stamped body sheet metal) . Another thing you can do is check wrecking yards like row52 dot com and car-part dot com , and use the VIN to identify if the jeeps in the yard were factory or dealer equipped with the hooks. That can save you time driving around since only a small percent of these things came with hooks. If you do find one in a wrecking yard be sure to get those captive nuts, you really do need them.
Thanks for the info!
Is your Patriot a 2.4L?
All 4wd Patriots in the North America market are 2.4L
Hell yeah
I got a 2010 jeep Patriot 2in lift what max size tires could I fit without having issue.
Same as in the video, the lift doesn't change that 😀
@@shoveI ok cool thanks
Really good video I just got my 2015 jeep patriot I love it 4 x 4. I would like to put some of them skid plates in on it and do some stuff you. Dead to yours.
I need you to upgrade my daughter 2012 jeep patriot
Kick out front window 4 fun
PS it's Kristian
Those rims are ugly 😂
You do realize this is a Jeep Patriot, right?
This thing is more like a toyota corolla with a jeep sign on it than a jeep.
