My father taught me to make pancakes. His favorite breakfast for Sunday mornings. When you make your pancakes and you flip them over for the first time do not take your spatula and smash them down. You want to keep them light and fluffy. When you smash them, the middle gets a weird texture. Don’t smash them down, give it a try. PS just another little tip. You will know when it’s time to flip them for the first time is when you stop seeing the bubbles 🥞
Great video! Having just turned 70 years old, this is something I have always wanted to do. I don’t see me doing this on a permanent basis, but I would love to set up my 2012 Jeep Patriot for traveling to see my family members who live out of state! Would save a ton of money not having to do the motel thing! Thanks for sharing your setup! You gave me a ton of useful ideas and info that will help me set my Patriot up! God bless and safe travels for you and Sam!
You are so creative!! And, I have watched 100 billion or so videos with the Jackery system and you are the first person to show that you could charge other small items off the solar panel
So what year/make Jeep do you have? I had a 2012 Patriot that had the fold flat seats. I just got a 2015, but can't figure out how to fold its front seat flat... Awesome job. Inspiring! ❤
lived on my school bus in Oakland for a year...so happy to see and enjoy your video on the realities of living in a vehicle...you hit it!!!! So inspiring and real. Not easy but worth it...paradigm shifting. Much appreciation, love and fun and great adventures to you and Sam :-) Excellent Musica by the way ....Thank You Trav!
This is how I did it, keep it simple. I did this for 8 months during the summer of 2016; one of the best years of my life I think. It was a little lonely, it would be nice to try to meet like minded people to travel with eventually. I plan on doing something like this somewhat full time eventually.
Hello, I really enjoyed your video and how you travel living in your jeep. I too have a jeep patriot and have often thought about living in it. I will have to be an arm chair viewer and enjoy your adventures. I am 63 and a insulin diabetic. Also not as limber due to arthritis pain. You and your pet will have to travel for me. I will look forward to your posts. Stay safe and happy travels:)
Love your ingenuity! I've converted my 2017 RAV4 into my RV and one day hope to just move in permanently. Stay safe and keep livin the dream! Blessings!
Just got a Patriot myself. Been viewing van camping channels for months but now that I got the Jeep (Jeep fam for decades tho!) looking for folks who are doing this with Jeeps to get ideas. I’m bummed though to see that Jeep changed their Patriot seats! My Patriot’s seat cannot lay flat forward like that. It can lay flat backwards but then I cannot fold my backseat forward and no leg room 😂🤦🏽♀️ So, love getting ideas from everyone though!
Last big project is a pvc foot runners as water tank reserves thinking about using electric coils to run the water heating. Could also use the cars radiator system maybe the diesel heater
I like your less is more theory. Im going to try and convince my roommate to be the same way. Ive gained to much weight so have my dogs we have to get out and enjoy life.
I have a Jeep Commander and just discovered SUV RVing! Love what you're doing! Had a travel trailer but sold it when we moved to CA. Did full time tent living. Really miss it! Safe travels! Great set up!
I enjoyed this so much. I appreciate you taking the time to make it. I am going to steal some.ideas for sure. Oh and I love Sam just the sweetest. My Kibbles use to have the whole front seat too. Also when we laid in the back she didn't want her space she wanted to be all in mine so that was just a cute reminder of my happiest moments. Also open road and a dog is the only real thing you need. 😀 safe travels
I love your setup!! Thanks for showing us how Sam fits in your routine. Some original this you have share are: 1) Suction storage items-very clever! 2) Thank you for being a role model for how to leave a place even better than you found it. QUESTION: Does your pup ever bark at night when you are trying to be stealth?
I like your set-up! Thanks for sharing it. I had converted my 2002 Jeep Liberty for camping, my Jamper. For more vertical storage in the back, I used 2 shelves and their legs from a black plastic 5-shelf unit I bought at Walmart. You can saw the legs to a custom height easily with a handsaw and put carriage bolts through the legs into the tie-down points. We still had room to stretch out, because we put our feet under the bottom shelf. Bottom shelf was a great height for laptop for working too. I was so bummed when the Patriot did not have the length or headroom of the Liberty. So, I went with a Subaru Outback for camping now, my Camparu. Safe travels! (May I suggest a first aid kit, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher?)
WOW 🤩 You are super organized ! Sam is so cool ~ your Jeep Patriot looks huge compared to what I’ll be trying ~ a Kia Soul !! Great advice on so many levels ! Thx and safe travels n adventures !
So happy to see someone using the Patriot for this. Hoping to do some overlanding with mine this winter. One Patriot owner to another, be sure to have the CVT Transmission fluid and filter changed every 30,000 miles. The owners manual calls for longer intervals, but they won’t last long with long intervals between service. Also, watch the rust on the subframes both front and rear. Keep it up man, great setup!!
Wish the dog could take its paw off to keep the mud away. 😂😂. I love your way of life. Thinking of doing it. I’m a flight attendant and always gone so I’m thinking of trying this way of living. I do have a keep renegade so I can’t wait. Btw thanks for sharing the solar thing. Ordering now.
Congrats! It’s a great vehicle . For laundry, I’d say just find a nice laundromat in the area you’re near. I always read the reviews on google maps. And for showers I have a planet fitness membership for about $20/month which is good nationwide. I also look up state parks with showers, aquatic centers or truck stops if there aren’t any planet fitness’ around. ioverlander is my app of choice to find what’s around :)
Yeo bro, I jist bought myself an 08 Patriot, Myself... Its WAYYY Smaller than I wanted... I had a NYC Shuttle bus, but was forced into trading it in ... Long story, but I was done wrong... So, Ive got the Patriot and Hopefully hit the road myself Soon hopefully... We should Link up & maybe ya can help me organize this dang thing, bro... Great video, Awesome Fur Babie too... Ive got one, myself. His name is Mr Buddie Lone Stars lol No, I didnt name him. LoL the Rescue place did... Well, I added the " Mr." Part. But yea man, cool a** setup, manz... Hope to hear back from ya... Safe travels & enjoy, brother.
You did well to downsize from the van to this jeep ,but it's perfectly do'able .Fair play bud .. Getting rid of debt is great . I do part time stealth camping in the UK ..I use my old work car derived van ..it's an Opel /vauxhall astra ...it's quite small , basically just a bed on wheels lol But it's fine tbf .. Just subscribed .. Love sams mini bed very comfy lol
Cool video! I was thinking of selling a 2017 Jeep Patriot Sport (Grey), but I noticed the resale value was quite low. This thing only has about 50k miles and was driven only in FL. No snow or salt exposed to the body. Seems the value was under 10k, so might just keep it now and do something similar for a portable buggy and have solar throughout. Great camping vehicles. Jeep was always top.
Thanks! Good question - in this vehicle, thankfully that gap was pretty small so my mattress didn’t sink down all that much (it wasn’t perfect) but every now and then if I put all my weight there it would sink lol. If I was planning on living in the Jeep for a longer period of time, I may have built some sort of platform to go over the top. Hope that helps ✌🏻

Thank you for your awesome pancake wisdom
Saw Sam and knew I had to subscribe. Love the vibe of the video. Chilled and relaxed. Thanks for taking us on an epic journey. Aloha from HAWAII 🤙
Leaving the place better than you found it. Amazing words!💕

Thank you so much!! I was pretty pumped when I discovered that feature 😊🙌🏻
I’m getting a 2017 Jeep Patriot this makes me so excited.
Have you gotten the patriot yet? I am interested but want to know how it is as a owner
Check for rust under it. Many take them out to bad roads or snow, then dont wash the salt off well.
@@brianagyare3098 I like it a lot!
Ooooo
Steering wheel desk; so cool! Thanks for creating this vid. You have given me some great ideas and smiles. Happy, safe travels to you and Sam!

Awww Sam is too cute!
A roof box would be good to store some of your gear in.
I definitely considered this option at the beginning! However, I found that I just didn't have enough stuff to justify having it :)

1 classic old-school " card table" ( cooking, etc) would be perfect....in your set up... maybe upon the yoga mat in rear of car when traveling ....
I like this idea

Thankfully he’s very quiet. I got lucky with him. He’ll only bark when he’s really excited to be somewhere then I leave him in the van 😅

Charmingly efficient set up. I commend you on simplicity. Just a note: never set batteries on the ground. The earth saps energy from it.
Great set up.
