  • Hey!! Here's a tour of my own adventure vehicle Colossus! My 2014 Jeep Patriot, built out with slide out tables, storage areas, fridge, and solar battery! None of which has any permanent modifications done to the vehicle itself, so I can always switch it back to its original state. Do not let some of the expensive gear I bought discourage you, there are many cheaper alternatives and the main goal is to adventure and have fun, so whatever works best for you to do that, then do it!! :)

    Hi!! Hope you're doing SO SO well. I was really excited to share this with you, and my hope is that you take this as inspiration not just the ONLY way to car camp. Don't get discouraged, find what works for you whether cheaper or pricey and go make memories!! The goal is to explore not impress :)

    I have a 2016 Patriot that I’ve camped in a couple of times. I’ve been making slow changes to it since I got almost a year ago. Labor Day last year.
    I only fold down the wider passenger side rear seat when I sleep in it. I have a dog bed that just sits in the trunk sideways when I’m not sleeping in it, but use it as a mattress. It’s a tad small but I don’t care about my legs very much. I have a large dry bag filled with my winter clothes and spare clothing that I just set in the space between the front seat and back seat. It not only makes the space long enough to sleep in but doubles as a pillow. The space behind the driver side rear seat is occupied by a Plano Sportsman’s trunk. It houses all my camping gear. I use it to set things on, cook on inside the Jeep(just boiling water on a Jetboil) and as a seat when outside. That empty passenger seat can then hold a small duffel bag or remain empty to sit on to tie shoes and exit the vehicle.
    I have a homemade roof rack that holds a full size spare tire and on longer trips a cooler and duffel bag. So now my spare tire well holds roadside emergency equipment and extra/emergency food.
    Pro tip 1: pull the plastic cover off of the inside of the trunk hatch. You gain like 2 inches in the back and you can fit a Plano Sportsman’s medium sized trunk.
    Pro tip 2: with that cover removed you can open the trunk hatch from the inside.
    Pro tip 3: reroute the wiring to inside the trunk hatch so you don’t risk snagging it.
    Pro tip 4: Step 22 Gear Pangolin tool roll is life.
    I dig the table and spare tire lid replacement. I might be doing that!

      Woh!! Thanks so much for all the awesome feedback/ experience, your setup sounds so dope!! I love how there are little similarities but also big differences between both of our jeeps, yet it works well for each of us! Plus you gave some cool tips that I might have to look into integrating myself!! I hope a lot of people also gain more knowledge from you taking the time to comment. I appreciate you

      @@808bma thanks! I might do a video on it soon. My tiny house is also almost done so I may have to do a video for that. I don’t make videos but I probably should. It’s good to share ideas and knowledge.

    I am going homless in November. Help me live the best life in my jeep latriot. Gimme advice .

    • @808bma
      @808bma  Год назад +1

      Hey dude, I'd say the first main thing is always to cover the necessities to the extent you can/need to afford. So get a big water jug or a few, figure out how you're gonna keep some food cold whether it be an actual small fridge or a cooler. Having a good bed setup will be really nice too. Utilize laundromats, gym showers, etc... Research apps and maps that can tell you good places to park and sleep. Public land is a great option. And you're officially nomadic! So go explore places! There will be tough times, but you will learn, and the main goal is to make the best out of the life ya have❤️ You got this dude, I believe in your journey.

      @808bma restroom use. I noticed not everywhere has a restroom open at times needed any suggestions? It's embarrassing to be homless

    • @808bma
      @808bma  Год назад +2

      I think definitely planning it where you'll use the bathroom at places prior to setting up somewhere during the night is good. Also researching what's around wherever your destination is will hell know if there are 24 hr places around. If you're on public/BLM land, then you can follow safe ways to use the restroom outdoors. Do some studying on that too. And don't be embarrassed at all, again do everything you can to make the most out of your situation, and constantly try to work towards the goals and life you want to live in the future. Even if it's small steps every day, take those small steps. This jeep living does not have to be for the rest of your life❤️👊

    You still have the patriot? I have one and considering doing this

    • @808bma
      @808bma  Год назад +1

      You should totally do it! The box shape of the patriot really helps with making it feel like there's more space too. Especially if you get some kind of roof rack thing, you'll have even more space

    Do you have a way to cool the inside when you are in hot humid areas?

    • @808bma
      @808bma  2 года назад +1

      So we haven't been in any SUPER humid areas but if you have a powerbank or some kind of battery, maybe a small fan? My friends also use mosquito netting draped over windows to let airflow in but no bugs. Sorry that's not much help :/
