      makes sense since Marty came up with the original theme for CE on his way to work in the car. Marty, Mike, and Steve just absolutely killed it with their work on Halo. They're unmatched.

    I love this. Huge Vai fan, but I've found it rare to see Vai feeling natural and unguarded. He's not in interview or press mode, he doesn't have his show business face on. He's there to contribute as a guest to a project. Refreshing to see this side of him.

The fact that you have one of greatest funk guitar players on earth sitting next to one of the most legendary guitar players alive, and we get to literally watch Nile pull the solo out of Vai by waving his hands and just telling him what noises he wants to hear. This is so unbelievably good. This video belongs in the national archives. Seriously.

      @@Jamplays592 I'm not sure how "professionals" do it, but I'm some level of guitarist and a great deal of my writing is basically just vibing and trying to remember what parts I liked. There's obviously an amount of skill and intrinsic understanding of the kind of music you're trying to make that's required to be able to reliably vibe something good, but yeah, I think a good chunk of great music is basically a sum of a few different vibing sessions that get all their best parts put together.

    15:34 I feel like you have to really be into music to understand their movement here. These two are really feeling the music and it's beyond comprehension. Emotion was poured into the making of this song and that's what makes it so iconic and special. I'm just in disbelief that Vai really nailed the song on the first take, the most legendary part of that song. One more thing, if you listen to a song he made(for the love of god, made in 1990) it really captured this sound towards the end of that song. Crazy to think that was created before this. Truly two amazing pieces and Vai is just an all out amazing guitarist. Best collab in gaming history.

      Yeah, when you hear him warming up you can hear him practicing licks and scales that resemble his other songs. But when he goes to play the Halo theme it's that same skill and experience but with a whole new vibe to it. The amount of practice it took to get to this level is unfathomable

    The most replayed part is at 9 minutes when he finally gets in the zone of Halo. Where the masterpiece begins and you feel like you’re in the old Xbox on the top of a mountain. Sounded like an old Nintendo game starting up just so cool.

    The only time guitar work has fitted a game even CLOSE to this well, was Mick Gordons work on the new doom games, and we all know those days are gone now too.
    Unbelievable work from Steve on this, just sitting there, jamming, seeing what comes out, and casually writing one of the most iconic theme songs of all time while you're at it. Absolutely nuts. Been a Vai fan for years and can't see that ever changing.

      @@carlweeks2399 I've had my eye on the new gameplay.. It's looking pretty promising. I love the fact that the jumps are higher and the walking/sprinting is slower. Brings me back to the classic feel rather than twitch gaming.

    I cried thru most of this video. Absolutely amazing. I played so much Halo2 at a really pivotal time in my life with amazing people. The emotion that this brought out was unexpected. The music, their passion, their excitement and knowing now how absolutely iconic it is, this was a treat to watch!

    I love everyone involved in making and sharing this. This was a total treat to watch.
    When he just improv'd the actual intro he stuck with around 9:30, I felt goosebumps
    11:15-11:29 had such a Floyd Echoes feel to it
    Holy shiiiiiiiiiiii I WISH they kept 17:04-17:16, that's fire
    24:00-24:22 was just incredible
    24:55-25:33 was just *PERFECT* and I wish they kept it

    Steve vai was pure intuition in this. They captured Vai pretty much just ouitlining the mode the theme is in. like master chief entering a new world and feeling the ground. ITs pure intuition and they captured it. AS much as I love the writing that feeling the sonic ground Mr vai did by playing was not calculated it was just feels natural

      @@Gabe-eu6sk It's actually funny, We both grew up loving Halo, and she specifically fell in love with the music in Halo 2. One time she mentioned how much she LOOOOVED the guitar sections of the theme. I mentioned something like 'oh you know they got Steve Vai for that, and his friend Nile Rodgers got him in on it'
      and she was like "who?"
      after a long tirade about who Steve Via is...
      Showed her the making of i.e. this video - and that was it. It gained a whole new meaning to her and another reason to love it more.

    This is the massive difference between the original and anniversary versions. The original had direction and leaders helping to guide the chaotic Vai.
