"I don't know if I fit into that kind of music" - Steve Vai
*Makes the biggest, most badass rendition of a game theme song*
Insane.
At the time he probably didn't catch on that video game soundtracks had evolved past chiptune sounds.
Steve Vai has been an absolute legend. Him coming into the Halo scene made me complete
and funny enough, he aint no "has been" 😉 He's still killin' it.
Mjolnir mix is one of the best things that ever happened to halo
The Audience is Listening 🤘
Legendary!
I honestly had no idea that Vai played the Halo 2 track. Gotta replay that game again 😂😂
he also does the explosions of the covenant ships.
Heard one of his songs and it reminded me of halo 1 almost. I looked em up and was mind blown
@@hitmixhyepock9405 the ghost right???
@@hitmixhyepock9405 Do you have a source for this? I'm looking for one and I can't find it
@@bazookajoe200 I did back in the day. I haven't looked that up in a while, I'll look later today.
When the first milisecond of that guitar gives you goosebumps
I love Steve Vai. This was super cool to see.
@KeanuChrist Me too! 😊
Man I've liked Vai since I was kid, had no idea he was the guitarist on Halo.
I'm 56 years old and remember when I first saw Steve Val back in the 80s when he was originally with Frank Zappa's band and then his forays with David Lee Roth and his amazing solo projects...But I'm also a gamer and when I heard his solo on Halo 2....it was riveting, amazing and expansive, a big sound to mesh with a huge and fantastic game. Lightening in a bottle..you only capture it once...
What a great dude, so kind yet so darn cool!!
@
CowboyMeetsPirate He was so cool to talk too! Great guy!
Dear God, Nile Rogers really does have a part in everything good...
Starting to play Guitar and getting into Steve Vai
Halo being my fav game and still is :) Halo 2 came out and I was obsessed with Steve Vai.
Hearing the Halo 2 theme and Knowing instantly it was Steve Vai and absolutely loosing my mind in amazement.
Halo Game soundtracks are IMO the best ever created and adding Steve Vai on Halo 2 and Anniversary was just so amazing. No other game soundtracks comes close to it...
Amazing Steven !!! I watched your studio cut when I was much older.. I am so glad they recorded that.. it was legendary performance. I’ve played halo a long time and everyone in the halo world knows halo 2 has best music.
so cool, just subbed
Mr. Vai is my guitar hero and I met his music because of Halo.
Steve needs to do a whole podcast of just this topic of his projects/time on Halo.
The Spartans are listening and the Covenants & Floods are shivering
Steve your a treasure man thanks for so many memories
Steve is a good chunk of why I love Halo 2, Marty and Nile had great minds to involve him in the soundtrack. even Nile playing on Broken Gates and some of the other tracks is just awesome, also if you didn't know Nile Rodgers used to play Halo and is part of the reason he was involved himself, same thing with Breaking Benjamin, damn that soundtrack is awesome.
He did an outstanding job with Alcatrazz
Halo 2 is amazing and its 100 times better because of steve via
Halo2 was an epic win for gaming and music. I still remember loading it up on my console and hearing that intro theme music was amazing, I was just getting into guitar myself and played an acoustic at the time and I didn't know That was Steve Vai! I just knew it was a killer melody and riff. Then there were many more surprises along the way, I remember playing the mission in the hall of the Arbiter and I nearly immediately recognized Breaking Benjamin playing a rocking tune(Blow Me Away) to an epic encounter! Halo 2 was done right, I didn't feel that way again about a game until Doom2016
Love the whole documentary about it. And that Guitar Hero 3 put it in as DLC
I was the biggest sad when they removed all the dlc song on guitar hero...that destroyed a part of me that wont come back unless i get pc guitar hero but still its not the same
Wow, this was an awesome video. I didn't know steve vai was in it!!
Yeah he nailed that intro on the first take too. The screen that has the Bungie logo. The rest had some editing and placement but the dive-bomb at the beginning and that first lick just freaking happened.
@@MasterOrona thats so amazing.. steve vai is even more of an inspiration now!!
What an awesome dude to. Thanks for the fun facts :D
@@SparklezSquad He is awesome! 👍
The full video is available on Marty O'Donnel channel !

Wait excuse me the famous Halo guitar solo is Steve Vai!? Never knew lol
say, watchmojo has in my eyes been out of relevance for a looong time.
but content like this makes me respect you. More of this please.
Smell the glove. 🍀
Eat'em and smile

Imagine having Steve Vai and Breaking Benjamin in the studio
Mjolnir mix the best
I think he meant Rock Band not Guitar Band lol But he's so busy with his music I'll let it slide hehe
Bad Horsie
Oh shit I thought he was dead
Great, now can we interview someone about how the Halo franchise went down the toilet?
Dont screw this show up please
