Just to note as a storm player, the storm on the frog enchantment. Storm says each spell cast this turn, doesn't specify by you. So if your opponent double or triple spells you can now hit there 3 to 4 best things
I am unreasonably excited for Necrobloom. I've already been brewing, buying, and dismantling unused decks to build it.
I am unreasonably hyped for it too 😅
@@loganwramp307 Plants vs zombies ahh lookin commander
Same! I have a Thalia and the gitrog monster lands deck that wasn’t really the commander I wanted and the Necrobloom fits way better
Same! I’ve built a flashback / retrace deck around it. Slight hints of landfalls but primarily casting spells from my graveyard.
Cultivator colossus with the necrobloom is crazy. Can replace draw with dredge so put all your lands from graveyard into play plus all the lands you dredge into play 😂
*Reminder:* The only reason they made Commander Precons for a Modern Set is cause their too afraid to make Modern an affordable format.
They'll make the people who sell plasma for fetch lands mad. "I sold blood/plasma/kidney for MY modern deck, they should to!"
You can cycle and dredge the same land. Discarding is part of the cost (before the commas) so it happens before the draw goes on the stack, and so dredge can replace the draw as it goes on the stack. Necrobloom is a nightmare.
Fluctuator = infinite self mill
At least it's not blue, so you can't ThOracle with it
New commander for the gitrog monster, with access to white you have the best removal and protection spells.
My mono blue wizards deck welcomes you Amphibian Downpourt…
Ripples of Undeath reminds me more of Sylvan Library than Phyrexian Arena.
I am actually excited for Necrobloom, a Abzan Landfall commander, I am all for that. Its going to be epic.
Necroblossom is definitely the thing I'm looking most forward to!
Scapeshift, Ravenous Ride, world breaker... all the landfall in a dredge deck with some reanimation/zombie love tossed in.
Perfect!
Imagine having both Powerbalance and Sensei's Divining Top at the same time...
"With Powerbalance on the stack I activate Top. Top resolves. Then I cast Brainstorm."
the reason I quit mtg 15 years ago was the sensei's+counterbalance playstyle.
sensei's by itself made the game draaaaaaag. counterbalance made the drag be painful.
sleeping on white orchard knight, that card will be good in sideboards in modern where alot of decks run thin on basic mana.
I really want to build the necro bloom around the fact that it can save you from losing by draeing from an empty library, but it and the new grist are battling for a chance yo be built in my head.
How can it save from decking? You can't dredge 2 if you have fewer than 2 cards in deck
it won't be able to save you, you either mill 2, and if you can't draw a card.
@@ScorpioneOrzion Wait just to make sure, wouldn't the draw be replaced by the dredge, which would attempt to mill 2 cards but not do so (since their are no cards in the library) and then return the land from your yard to your hand?
Edit: I just realized the milling part of dredge is essentially a cost and not a simple effect that happens as part of the replacement mb. >702.52b: A player with fewer cards in their library than the number required by a dredge ability can't mill any of them this way.
@@enricomassignani just realized that the milling from dredge is not an after effect but worded as a cost my bad : >702.52b: A player with fewer cards in their library than the number required by a dredge ability can't mill any of them this way.
I am excited for Necrobloom in ways that I can't even properly put to words. Looks like the most ideal commander to make a "gardening" theme deck with nothing but land spells, land ramp, land sac outlets, plant creatures with land synergy and a few "gardener" creatures that help oil the motor.
I think Ashling looks awesome. Also, Sylvan library isn’t on the reserved list
Dredge came out in original Ravnica. It was the mechanic for the Golgari and deemed "broken" by Wizards because they didn't understand its full power.
Wait…. We ignoring the synergy of things like deathtouch and lifelink with ashling? Is specifies that she does the damage. If someone goes wide you can gain like 50 life in mono red pretty easily or also guarantee the 2 damage actually kills everything your opponents have
Red can get basilisk collar decently well. It'd be pretty funny as a build a boardwipe.
I've been messing around with mono-red, ashling is the exact commander I was looking for. So stoked.
Should be able to dredge the cycled land because it will be in the graveyard before you draw.
its been a minute, but depending on the wording it might work.
If discarding is part of the cost, then you can dredge it. if discarding is part of the resolution, then no.
@@joshfarley7584 Discard for cycling is the cost. And Dredge is a static ability that functions in the graveyard. So yeah, one cycling land can be used to dredge itself, as long as you can pay for it.
@@Manifibell now we just need a way to generate mana from the GY in Abzan and you could dredge like half your library in one turn with any of the 1 or 2 generic mana cycling lands
@@joshfarley7584 discarding is part of cost. It even has the reminder text on the moor in the video that says "B, Discard this card: Draw a card."
@@joshfarley7584 Necrobloom + Bone Miser + Barren Moor = Mill your library and add B for each card in it. Infinite black mana if you run Gaea's Blessing or original Ulamog.
I think you could get barren moor back. Because you discard as part of the activating it's ability so it'd be in the graveyard when it's ability to draw resolves. Then The Necrobloom's gifted dredge ability triggers and allows you to return Barren Moor if you mill 2 instead of drawing.
You might be thinking of cards like Doomed Necromancer. Where you sacrifice it to return a creature to the battlefield. However, with cards like that, you have to choose a target before activating the ability and doomed necromancer isn't valid until after the ability is on the stack. With The Necrobloom's dredge it gives you the option to replace your draw actions with milling, but that only happens after an effect tells you to draw and that only happens after the ability resolves.
I think you were thinking of Humility like the Downpour? One of my favorite OG cards. Love the videos as always!
Any of the Eldrazis that shuffle your graveyard into your deck whenever they hit the graveyard allow you to draw your entire deck with gitrog and a discard outlet 😎
If you have multiple dredge triggers at once, do you get all the cards with dredge back or do you have to choose?
U could also use white orchid phantom on ur own lands in the right scenario … could run some ping lands or other lands w ETBS (or LTBs for that matter, although less common) then cycle them out for double landfall triggers 🧐
White Orchid might go in Delney for dealing with opposing Cabal Coffers and Gaea's Cradles
Wait, doesn't Necrobloom go infinite with Kodama of the East Tree and a single bounce land?
As bounce land enters, resolving triggers:
1. Trigger Necrobloom - create plant/zombie
2. Kodama trigger off of land - ignore
3. Bounce land ETB - return itself to hand
4. Kodama trigger off of plant/zombie - put the bounce land on the battlefield
So we potentially have infinite bodies
To add more fun, let's say we have a sac outlet or Retreat to Hagra
I could go on and on with this
Ruin Ghost is actually really good for Necrobloom decks and a really budget friendly card.
I don’t like that collect evidence has that name. It’s such a good mechanic, but because of the name it won’t see use on many cards.
So if i have 10 lands in my grave can i dredge 20 and return all 10 lands to my hand or does only 1 instance of dredge fire on a draw
At this point my headcanon is it's intentional; Wizards experiences "leaks" with "potatoe phone" quality to build hype- in this case all get as many people as excited as possible for an over pushed set at an over priced point.
Wouldn’t you be able to dredge the land back if you cycle it since it hits the grave from the cost before you draw?
Well, at this point it looks like my current Mycotyrant deck will just be replaced by all MH3 cards. Lol Graveyard and self mill got so much gas this set.
Really excited for necrobloom, definitely making a deck around it, probably a couple.
I'm just not sure what to think of its colors. Very interesting colors, it'll be fun building with those, but at the same time I really feel like it should have had blue. Missing a lot of good zombie cards if you don't have blue
We all have smartphones with HD cameras, but somehow all the leak pictures are blurry. Think about that lmao
Ashling is a good addition for Stella. Kinda a nonbo with getting mana after you cast your third spell but it’ll help the storm count going
I instantly thought of Feather looking at her TBH; she seems amazing for controlling the board state
Handmade for Zevlor
White Orchid Phantom is fun for targeting your own indestructible lands and using it as ramp. Love doing that in red white and will probably grab this card for more white ramp.
I found my 2nd ever commander deck I want to build, let’s go Necrobloom!!
Honestly I’ve always loved abzan but never found a commander that did more than just +1/+1 or similar strategies
Necroblossom looks pretty ideal for something unique and different
white orchid phantom would actually be pretty decent in modern spirits. Really put the hurt on the 3 color land decks and tron.
Note: Ashling lets you discard first, before drawing. Which is great
Why do i have a feeling that Warren Soultrader can go infinite?
Wrath of the Skies is a great token hate card that happens to provide energy counters as an optional bonus. Two mana to destroy all tokens (and the occasional mana crypt or mox card) is great value!
Yeah, I'm surprised he missed that.
They say permanent card because they're referring to the card. "Nontoken permanent" suggests the object exists on the battlefield. The rules try to be pretty consistent about zone terminology and the word card is used to help establish the difference between being and not being on the battlefield.
That is to say you can't discard a "permanent", you can discard a "permanent card". Similarly you can't sacrifice a "permanent card" but you can sacrifice a "permanent".
Awfully curious to ask if "Abstruse Appropriation" card can effectively STEAL someone else's commander?
where is the ashling art from?
'Dredge is a strange mechanic,'
And absurdly ludicrously strong in the right deck, rivaling or even surpassing Storm.
The leaks are getting crazy. I’m excited
Definitely in love with the Necrobloom. There is just so many interesting ways to take this commander I’m excited for it. Personally going to put squandered resources in to see how that card performs in it, cause it’s not like I won’t see that land come back.
I wish wrath of the skies just straight up said nonlands
After Ripples of Potential in Lost Caverns, I really like they’re continuing it as a cycle.
I cant wait to get the new Rosheen for the X cost deck im building.
Love ashling from the books. So excited to see her get a new card
insidious roots comes to mind
Holy FUUF Necrobloom.
Insidious roots, dryar arbor with netherbloom?
Ww destroy all tokens is nice
With Necrobloom and fetch land you will never become mana screwed
Necrobloom and field of the dead will be insane. Would have fo destroy FOD and then Exile the grave yard or it comes back
The necrobloom and land destruction is gonna be wild. Strip mine + any additional lands per turn 😅
There's so many MLD cards that can go pretty wild in that deck. You can recover so much faster by dredging lands. It's nuts.
As abzan being my favorite color combination but not liking any of the comanders in that identity, I am so hyped to build the necrobloom
If you don't focus on Plants or Zombies and just tokens period you could include angelic visitation and just turn all plants and zombies you make into 4/4 angels. Probably less practical than just focusing on plants ot zombies, but it'd be funny to see.
"I wonder what tribe he's built around. Plants or Zombies? ....Angels?"
I've played with dredge in commander for years. This card is cracked. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets a high salt score.
Rosheen would be very welcome in my zwarmlord deck
White Orchid phantom is a stax card, destroy the nykthos or etc and grind the game down to a halt
Wait… wtf?
Warren soultrader!
In my X spells Teysa Karlov is b b busted …
Can’t wait 😅
11:00 BROKEN ALERT! Izzet and Miracles LOVE this card (Forcing Force, countering delver with REB, flipping an extra turn spell...) STRONK!
22:42 Thta sounds incredibly broken
Ashling and Basilisk Collar cause it’s ashling that deals the two damage 😢🎉😂
no vampire love 💔
Necrobloom can be a nasty aristocrats commander imo
Wrath of the skies clears every token on the board (including treasures for the treasure haters out there) for 2 white.
Powerbalance is a slightly worse lurking predators
It costs only 2 mana and it's red, but I undertsand your point (prefer to compare to counterbalance, which isnt played). This is not as broken as Mitch says
How is it worse? There is decks just not focusing on going creature heavy (especially in izzet).
@@OCTO404 it’s super circumstantial, more than lurking predators.
@@albertwesker363 if you just put it in any (creature) deck yes i agree. But ig you put in a deck that makes use of it: senseis divining top, brainstorm, scroll rack etc... it's busted.
@@OCTO404 broken when paired with expensive cards and built in the right way is putting a bunch of hurdles in the way of the card being broken, which the other cards are doing the work to make that card broken vs it just being broken on its own.
Amphibian Downpour.....again, I don't want to here shit from blue players how powerful green is.....
Cool
prettty.. preettttyy good
It’s gotten too much into commander..
The new cards are focused on commander and don’t help us casual players.
WOTC needs to get back to basics.
A hard reset would be great.
What made MYG great in the old days was using the cards you gave, in creative ways, creating something cool.
Hard. Reset.
Term limits
Audit the FED
I'm not exited at all about this. The power creep is so on your face it's not nice.
