Right?! Someone commented it looks like it could be from Olive Atelier and that was spot-on. I couldn't believe it when she said $2. That's basically free :)-
I love thrifting. Uniqueness in every isle from a bygone era is so enthralling, especially the wood pieces, the diy possibilities from those beautiful vintage shapes on lamps and vases, gorgeous wood frames, and furniture pieces made from solid wood and intricate detailing. I enjoy feeling transported to the past for a time. Love your channel!
Yes, I agree! Nothing like the thrill of the hunt in a thrift store (or yard sale) never knowing what you'll find and from what era. Thank you, glad you're here :)
YES - Side curtains in linen would be lovely. But raise the rod up higher! In between the top of the window, and the ceiling. (And you should get someone to sew you proper (faux) Roman shades. It didn't look good with the rods.) Thank you for a great inspirational channel. I'm binge watching your Christmas decor ones. 🌟
Isn’t it wonderful to get something inexpensive especially when it’s not even available in stores. My daughter bought me a 17 inch carved wood Loon for Christmas from an estate sale. I’ve always wanted one. It’s beautiful and really adds a needed touch to my living room. I’m older now and have a disability so I don’t get out much. But I went to estate sales for 25 years and have some wonderful things. We don’t have very many thrift stores in the Dallas Texas area.
That sounds like a great find! I'm surprised to hear you don't have many thrift stores in your area though. Not that I am familiar with the area, I just assumed it was more populated and so would have plenty. Interesting!
There are probably 4 goodwills and the merchandise is so icky. Nothing is ever changed.a new one opened up. In a suburb but there’s not much in it and they’ve never set up the computers for checking out. I did buy 3 wooden bowls inside of each other. It was wrapped in 4 layers of Saran Wrap so it was difficult to see what it was. I took a chance and found the handmade unfinished bowls for $4. I ordered some walnut oil to use to finish them. There are several upscale clothing resale shops. But they aren’t cheap. In Dallas, shopping is a sport. Women go shopping all the time for new things. We have many estate sales here. So we must keep our crap until we die, lol.
Hi Tasha. I loved this video. You are so lucky to have thrift stores with good prices. We just have estate sales . I love the urn , the the throw is gorgeous. I am always trying to do something with my too small laundry room. That gorgeous picture would make me happy. I loved that material . I don’t do curtains..just blinds. Our home is small and I feel like it closes off the room more. I like the Roman shade in the dining room and don’t think you need curtains. I love your style. ❤❤❤❤
I think curtains on either side of your dining room windows would soften the space and help add texture and interest. I have just learned that more is more on curtains and have doubled up the widths to get a fuller, more expensive look. It made a huge difference in my rooms! I am working on curtains for my dining room window now as well!
I just love your channel. You do such a creative job of diying thrifted items. Thanks for showing how you did the Roman shades. I hope your channel grows fast. You do an excellent job of explaining things!! 😊
I took a class on making No Sew Roman shades. It wasn’t hard to make one. I did purchase a roll of double sided tape from an upholstery company online. It’s expensive tape. I didn’t use it all so I keep it in a ziplock bag. I’m sure there are utubes on line teaching Roman shades. Check them out
What you said about wanting to label everything reminded me of the time my father received an engraving tool as a gift. He began engraving our family name on anything made of metal. My mother caught him engraving the silver plate silverware….she was not amused….
Hahaha oh my gosh so funny 🤣 Not to her though lol. Thanks for sharing that, I needed a chuckle this morning. It's so addicting to label, so I totally get it. ...I'm picturing someone engraving, like, their toilet handle or something now 🤣
I love your channel! I recognized the thrift store in Cary from a long time ago when my daughter lived in Apex. What a difference! I need to check it out again. Thank you for the Roman Blind tutorial. I’ve always wanted them in my sunroom but the traditional way is so involved.
Oh yes, Dorcas is really doing well. I always liked it but now I definitely wish I lived closer haha. Glad you liked the blinds hack! Thanks for watching!
Just found your videos and I am binging on New Year's Day. The large pot you got for $2 I have one almost identical but since it's handmade it can't be identical. I found it on the island of Bahrain just off the coast of Saudi Arabia about 35 years ago. I was told it was a kimchi pot. What a treasure . My husband built a special box so we could ship it back to the States.
Awesome story about your find! I am so thankful to have found this beauty for that crazy low price. It makes thrifting and yard sales worth it for the times you have a killer find like that. Thanks so much for watching! ☺️
Fun & great idea videos, Tasha! Think you should paint in another adult helping with the chores in the laundry room-rabbit hutch print. Why does Mom do all the work? 😄
New subscriber. Happened across your channel and love it! Yes, definitely add simple to the floor panels to your windows. They add a classic, finishing touch.
I don't have a video but I described it for another commenter so I'll paste that here! (And maybe I'll put it in a video soon too) I grate a 5 oz bar of fels-naptha (or another laundry soap bar will do, like Zote), and have on hand 1.5c of borax and 1.5c of washing soda. I heat a very large pot (like a crab pot) full of water on the stove and then stir in all the grated fels-naptha, and let it dissolve while stirring. Then I add the borax and let it dissolve in. Then the washing soda. It thickens as you add each part. When it's all incorporated, I set it outside for several hours to cool. It gets kind of clumpy as it cools with a thicker layer on top, so I use an immersion blender (a stick blender) to blend/smooth it all out once it's cool and then divide it up into my containers 😁 It fills two large regular size laundry detergent containers plus the four smaller ones you see on my shelves.
Thank you for this. It makes my heart sad that much of recyclable plastics end up in landfills regardless. I want to do better by not contributing to that awful practice.
I do sometimes too if I like the whole pillow. I wasn't clear in the video--the problem was I didn't like the feel of the insert but couldn't easily swap it out without a zipper. I could cut and resew it but wasn't feeling it this time 😊

Love how you added fabric to your blinds-makes them look high-end.
Def add curtains to tue dining room, it will cozy it up a bit! ❤

😂 the last comment. But wow!! The bowl set sounds like a great find though.
We have lots of estate sales..no good thrift stores. The Goodwills are ridiculously high.

Yes! Since this video, I've added curtains and I do like them a lot in the room. 🥰
Yes curtains. Hand them high and wide not to cover window when curtains are open. Heavy drapes like in living room. Lovely video!
Thank you! Yes, definitely high and wide if I add them, I don't want to block any light or view.
Loved everything! How you utilized the things you bought, beautiful!
Thanks so much! 😊
The art in the laundry room was a great touch. I’ll steal this idea. The urn was an amazing find! Branches alone is already beautiful.
Thank you, I agree about the branches. I have not changed it yet! Thanks so much for watching 🙂
You really scored this thrifting! Everything is beautiful! That blanket is amazing!
Thank you! 😊
I love what you did to cover over your existing bamboo shades with the material you bought. They look beautiful!
Thank you so much! I'm definitely happier without that orange tone in the room and I thought the material was gorgeous 😍
Exactly. Great job on this one.
Absolutely Yes for drapes in the dining room.
Thank you 😊
I love your videos. I love how you style the things you purchase in your home. You do such a beautiful job. Thanks so much.
You're too kind, thank you so much!
Great video. Yes to curtains in the dining room. And hang as high as you can to make the ceilings seem taller.
Yes! Thank you!
Goodness you are soooo lucky to fi d that beautiful vase! Wow!
I know!! I couldn't believe it. She was selling it for $2, the same as a bunch of other little regular flower pots she had.
Yes - add curtains!!! Will take it up a notch!
Thanks! Definitely leaning towards it 🙂
You have a good eye for quality pieces. Your a talented thrifter.
Thank you so much. I certainly love to go!
Hi Tasha, the $2.00 pot is a great buy.
It is a Japanese rice wine jar.
Often $30.00 to $60.00 or more.
Good eye.

Thanks for the inspiration for the Roman shades! I think drop cloth panels would look good with your covered bamboo shades.
I ended up putting some up that are a similar color to that and they look great 😸

Thanks so much!

Yes and you don't often find two matching second hand 🤗
I absolutely love your style ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks I will definitely try it. I used to use soap and baking soda but over time it clogged my pipes. I had to pour hot water to melt the soap sudds.
I know there are similar recipes for DIY laundry detergent online as well. I've seen that some of them include scented oils and such too.

🤣 Right? The dad's probably the one that told them girls they could get rabbits in the first place 😋

Yes, add some curtains in the dining room. With a burst of color?

I went in Dorcas thrift store on High House Rd in Cary and I believe the rest of the stores from this video were in Durham. 😊
❤
Thanks for the recipe. How much do you use for the washing. Do you use it for any type of wash.
I use it for all washes. I just do a couple pours in a circle around the machine, haha.
❤
Thank you 😊
