I read Faber’s novel just before joining Booktube while laid up with an illness. It was not only the best book I read that year, but one of the best reading experiences of my life. I saw the film much later, and while it’s not a favorite, I found it worth picking up and owning. It’s one of the strangest, most unsettling movies I’ve ever seen, with a final 30 minutes of filmmaking that is absolutely visionary and brave.

Thank you very much for watching and comment. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the story much more than I did. I can imagine it might be "different" experience on the big screen tho...

@@teacupthestoryteller I never saw it at the cinema. Checked it out from the library, watched it, then bought it on Blu Ray later.

wow had no idea this was a book!! thanks for the info =] i really enjoyed the movie in the cinema; i think it's probably one of those that works best on the big screen. i agree with you more or less about body image, at least from the film i thought the main story was this creature building a relationship with her new body as she starts to understand how female bodies function in (Western, 21st century) human society. curious about how it's done in the book, but not sure if i wanna read it or not...

p.s. loved the editing where you talk about the victims sinking into the black pool while you also sink into a black frame!!

Thank you for watching!😊 yes I can imagine the movie may feel differently on the big screen (not sure if I'd like it more haha but it's probably different experience).
I would very much like to hear your thoughts on the book if you ever get to reading it!😊

Haha, yes it was me who said that! I am planning on rereading it this month, it might actually be the next book that I pick up! It's a shame that it didn't work for you, especially as you had been anticipating it for so long. I probably won't watch the movie though because I have heard it's awful.

Yeah, some books just aren't made for coherent thoughts. You did a good job with the video, still! :)

I do love rambling videos, lol. And it sounds like such a weird story. Definitely not my kind of book or movie.
