Watch movie first, then read the book.
    Book > movie.
Incredible adaptation in that it doesn’t use 95% of the book. Maybe higher.
Still room for a one season streamer adaptation...
Wish Michel would do a sequel novel, still a LOT more meat in that premise and characters

Just finished reading the novel! Can't wait to watch this!

Awesome! Let us know if you like the book or the movie better. 🤔

@@somebrothers I gotta go with the book! It was so frightening and thought-provoking and beautiful, whereas the movie seemed more interested in riffing off the book's themes in abstract ways.
There were lots of winks to the novel in the movie but without context, it's lost on viewers who haven't read the book!
A nice touch in the movie was how the biker had a stiff walk to him, and in the novel, Esswis is mentioned as not being as successful a surgery as Isserley. I missed the needles in the seats, but the room where The Woman traps her prey was pretty stunning.
I do love both but it's tricky to compare them 1:1
I love your channel! Novel to movie adaptations are so fascinating!
May I recommend an interesting one? The Japanese novel 'Ring' by Koji Suzuki and its Japanese adaptation 'Ringu' and its American adaptation 'The Ring'.

@@CarlosFontes Whoa-nice catch with the stiff walk detail! That totally went over our heads.
I also liked the book better, and missed the needles in the seats too (Dillon)
Thanks for watching! We really appreciate it 🙏 & stay tuned . . . we will try to do something with 'Ring'. Thanks for the recommendation! 😄

@somebrothers Now do the audiobook! The woman who narrates is perfect!

There’s also a great interview where Glazer and other guy wrote faithful adaptation of the book, found it too long and expensive, then started cutting the script until they got to the minimalist masterpiece they shot. Same thing happened w Zone of Interest too it seems, although not quite that far

I really enjoyed your discussion about the book. I've read it countless times over (in fact I just finished it again yesterday!) and I agree that it's completely underrated. A few years ago my husband and I traveled to Scotland and stayed at the farm that Ablach is based off of - Tarrel Farm. We visited several of the locations in the book and it was so surreal! When I first saw the movie I was disappointed as I already loved the novel so much, but I've since grown to appreciate the movie, too. Thanks so much for the review!

Really glad you enjoyed it! Wow, I didn't know there was a real place that the farm was based on. That would be pretty cool to see. I'll need to remember to visit that if I ever find myself in Scotland! - Ryan

Brilliant! I want to do the same, walk the paths, visit the beach, drive the A9 etc.
Which of the two places on the farm did you stay at? Tell me there’s a steading and Eswis’s house!

@@geoffhoutman1557 Hi! Yes we stayed at Tarrel Farmhouse which would have been Esswis' house. The steading is no longer there, but it was when Faber wrote the novel and the owners showed us an old photo of it. We just visited again in May and found even more locations - including Edderton where she drops off the sleepy hitcher and also the road near Loch Eye where she ends up crashing her car. And of course we revisited Fearn Abbey, Tarbat Ness, the Wilkhaven jetty (where she drives following her assault by the bald hitcher), and of course the shore of the Moray Firth where she would walk along the shore and look for the whelks. Here is the vlog of our recent trip: ruclips.net/video/Rqt3U3zdIrU/видео.htmlsi=lbxZfoNlODjS13hC And here is the one from a few years ago! ruclips.net/video/KI0r4GkFMYc/видео.htmlsi=noHFYdKRwM4a-bVW

The book was terrible in my opinion. Nothing made sense and nothing happened.

Say what? A freaking UFO made a visit, the horrible thing with yellow raincoat man, the Vodsels release and hunt.
Did you just read the cover? I’m concerned
