My hopes for the future of Chaos Gate would definately be a Death Guard PoV campaign. 'The Lords of Silence' is widely considered one of the single best books Black Library published in many years and it has shown that Plague Marines can make compelling, likeable even, protagonists. And there is just so much you could do with them from a gameplay standpoint. GK are one of the single most homogenous faction in the setting, but with Nurgle followers you could go wild when it comes to different mutations and other dark gifts.
Firaxis did it right with XCom Enemy Within by overhaul the entire game around all the new things they added and integrated them into the main campaign while not disrupting but improving on it. Hopefully Duty Eternal getting patches and improvements enough to make it feel natural with the main campaign.
You're spot on with the balance of this game. I haven't played since the patch but what really got me was the fact the free added enemies into the game were just lumped into the patrols throughout missions. You could play as tactically as you like but since there was usually 2 plague marines with grenades to destroy your cover, it didn't matter. This is especially painful in the early missions as the cultists chip damage suddenly is threatening. Great video 👍
I played the hell out of this game and loved it, before the DLC. I don't think i'll be going back to try the DLC out, it was fun but I've gotten my fill. I do desperately hope they do more 40k games in this genre, but I'd really like to see something non-space marine. I don't even play the tabletop game, and I'm sick of em. I think Imperial Guard would make the perfect POV force. It makes sense for guardsmen to be more vulnerable and expendable, it makes more sense for guardsmen to upgrade their skills and equipment over time (since space marines - especially GKs - are ALREADY the elite of the elite with all the best gear). Plus, IG could bring all kinds of units as allies for variety. Heck, you could still bring a space marine, and you could make him an actual elite unit, next to the regular, mortal guardsmen.
your edits are hilarious! Great job, keep it up. This is my first video from the channel and trying to decide what edition of the game to buy. you helped me out a ton!
I dont know how well it sold, but its quite clearly one of the better 40k titles out there (which says a lot). Personally i hope they get the chance to do a sequel but this time its Deathwatch. Why? Gives more options for customisation of "your dudes" - all the different chapters and different weapons. And allows for variety of enemies. One mission is against Nids, one against Orcs, the next vs. Eldar, and so on.
1:43 On the "show face" issue, one thing I see to much on YT is people show their face to much. When I sit down to watch a review, what I want to see is not the face but GAMEPLAY and listen to a witty written and well read script. Sometimes I not even watch the video, but just listen to someone's essay. So yeah, less is more quite often.
The solution for making use of Khornate assets is theoretically pretty simple, just take a page out of XCOM War of the Chosen and add missions with Khornate activity allowing for 3 way battles. Summon in bloodletters to attack every0one in missions with a high bodycount, occasional "chaos undivided" missions with both Khorne and Nurgle forces working together.
From my own playthrough, the dreadnought is nearly useless. Only available in missions where the enemies have an unusually high amount of armor piercing/stripping attacks, while it's standing there in the open, for all the world to shoot at. Not a single mission that the dreadnaught was available that it could lean on the only defense it has, the armor. I like that if the dreadnaught is 'killed', it removes the Greyknight inside of it. If you, for whatever reason, have some others in stasis, you can throw them into it and get it back up and running. It also gives some changes depending on the class that you toss into it. Still not enough to consider bringing it because of how much of a liability it is on the few missions you can bring it in. Didn't find doing the DLC missions that much of a hinderance to progressing the main campaign, mostly because of how much having the frigate allows flexibility in deployments. Was able to keep it completely locked down because of the added mobility of 'doing' 3 missions in the time it would normally take to do 2 of them. I can't really comment on how much of a drain on servitors it is, because after the first two missions I brought it on I only threw it out there to make the frigate missions into a near guarantee with no injuries. It was collecting dust on the ship the rest of the time.
Don't worry about not being able to fight Mortarion with your Dreadnought; Nurgle's Dæmon Prince and 7 Great Unclean One's would have destroyed it before it could say "For the Emperor!"
Always happy to see you upload, looking forward to the unification mod video, hope you cover the new space marine games and maybe even total war warhammer ones too !
I'd love to see a Future dlc that adds a completly new campaign to the Game. Seperate from the original nurgle/Bloom campaign, but maybe referencing the story to establish a Timeline. Instead of Deathguard and nurgle deamons, the Grey Knights could Fight Khorne and the World eaters which would be an opportunity to utilize the already existing assets and expanding in them. Also it would Change the gameplay because World eaters would be significantly different as an enemy then the death guard. They could be less tanky, but instead faster and more Dangerous in melee Combat.
Another change I think would be good is the ability to customize the games difficulty, ie more enemies but fast wound recover times. Something like that would be really nice

I found using the techmarine to actually be insanely fun, and was a good way to hard counter a lot of the tougher enemies. Plasma cannon can be used to net cheeky enviromental kills or blast enemies out of cover or into more favorable positions, servo arm is a great way to stunlock a terminator or melta, hydraulic + bolter can actually kill entire groups of non-terminator marines entirely on their own, even on merciless difficulty. Also the ability to dominate enemy vehicles can be hilarious.
haven't really given it much of a spin yet but I can appreciate the fact that they seem to have been heavily inspired by the Mechanicus Tech Priests, particularly the Secutor discipline. They can't even use Overwatch, like in that game (although they can bring a Servitor to do it for them). Using their axes to destroy Armor is also a thing that worked well in Mechanicus.

In my opinon, Chaos gate should make a big expasion/DLC where we get to play as the death guard. You get a follow up mission to roster the Dread AFTER you do the Craftworld mission. This is the worst design decision in the DLC. Technophage missions start spawning after the first Dread mission but you don't actually get him on your roster to use him for like 100+ days depending on whether or not you rush Craftworld (which before this DLC was a bad idea all around).
12:32 -- this is wrong. You're months in and I assume you didn't finish a campaign but this is just wrong. The dreadnought can be taken into any level 4-5 mission, you do need to go though a number of set missions before you can access the dreadnought freely, but once he's officially in your roster. It's any "extreme" threat mission.. Which includes the final mission. Although the dreadnought holds off reinforcements, and Kal Drago hits the boss. Fair, cuz having both Drago (who's needed) and a dreadnought would fuck that boss in a Heartbeat
@@PonchaYT -- the reapers are still without a dreadnought, but I've been playing the DLC since it's launch, though I didn't finish a campaign with it until a big later. Not sure it was ever a patched thing or if it was base content.

Chaosgate should've taken a page out of XCOM 2's DLCs and it's expansion, War of the Chosen. In WOTC, you can choose the option to either play the dedicated missions for Shen's Last Gift DLC and Alien Hunters DLC or just have them integrated within the expanded campaign of WOTC.

Also first video! And I really like your idea of "review bingo" thats a nice fucking idea.
I missed in the patch notes where you can bring it in the final mission but you can't fight Morty, can you fight reapers with him?
@@PonchaYT -- the reapers are still without a dreadnought, but I've been playing the DLC since it's launch, though I didn't finish a campaign with it until a big later. Not sure it was ever a patched thing or if it was base content.
That voice work was pretty solid. What program or service was used to generate it?
haha just wait till the boltgun review if you think this was good. Elevenlabs
GW would like to remind you of their motto.
The intro was golden
Comment for the Skull Throne
was about time :)
love your videos
I definitely want to check out this game eventually but I feel like it would be best in a year or two once all the content and patches are done. Seems like a work in progress still
could you do a video similar to unification but instead about mods for DOW2? i have heard there are some big ones that are quite good
I have been looking at those.
I've thought they've added dread to final mission with one of the latest patches.
You are correct.
You know what I don't get about this game is the fact that when you put a Knight into over watch it moves them a square and can be very detrimental I set an over watch with one of my knights and he jumped directly into fire and is burning to death
Yes this sucks, especially since the game does not tell you where your knight will move to and whether or not he will be out of cover until you have committed to the overwatch.
@MidnightHozz yeah exactly like you expect abit more of a peep action like the cover is actually being used
Can you cover newest DLC? Enjoying your content mate
I will. A few other videos probably first.
@@PonchaYT Did you ever review it? I can't find it if so.
18:00 - I'd just say to add mini campaigns fighting the other ruinous powers...
God dame that Chat AI is Brutal, True but brutal.
"You sold your soul to chaos so we could use you as a satnav, so shut up." _DAMMMME_ !
"Another strike force is pinned down, id say fuck em but they have a dreadnaught" Sounds about right honestly.
"Ugh, its smells like papa nurgles shitter, are you sure we want to take control of this ship? Purge it in holy fire." The fact that he knows what that smells like is HERACY!
Edit: The fact that the DREADNAUGHT is only for those missions is NO SELL alone. For god sake That thing would be AWSOME to play with!
Literally yesterday I wondered where this video was
Can you finally accellerate character movement and have the game keep running while alt-tabbed?
My games always ran whilst alt tabbed but no speed option for movement. Not a bad idea though.
@@PonchaYT Good to know, thanks! :)
7:29 Perhaps you meant Blood Ravens instead of Blood Angels lol.
Been waiting for this opinion video for sometime. I bought the DLC for SUPER cheap, but got ADHDed away for something else. Sad about the TechMarine as I was hoping it would have been worth to have something for those Non-Dreadnought missions (aka most of the DLC and core game)
There was just a giant region of space infected with korne rage possessions. They could make some use of those korne demons
It has arrived
Got my sub with that intro
Jeez, I thought you were dead. More vids mate.
The best thing about this DLC is this review.
How did you do the voices of the i inquisitor and the grey knight at the beginning?
love the intro
Showing your face is a preference thing. Personally, I'm not on RUclips to watch someone talking to a camera. Just give us depth and humor to your content and your good (which you already do :) )
the upsides of this dlc so far, get to play as techpriest mommy and sweet nurgle asmr, combat servitors are neat i guess.. hope they could be used for in the normal game tho
I love the game, I finished it 3 times and I still playing it
Wait, is that warhammer total war in VR?
Haha. You will have to wait and see…
Since they have already done the Khorne models, a small campaign with fighting them in a small scale campaign could be cool!
So much heresy in less than 5 seconds. You will be purged in righteous fire, Poncha. **BLAM**
Blood Angels? Don't you mean Blood Ravens?
Chaosgate should've taken a page out of XCOM 2's DLCs and it's expansion, War of the Chosen. In WOTC, you can choose the option to either play the dedicated missions for Shen's Last Gift DLC and Alien Hunters DLC or just have them integrated within the expanded campaign of WOTC.
Ooo would love boltgun review
By Sanguinius! Us glorious sons of the hawkboi wouldn't dare steal a dreadnought! At least, not in such a crude and non-artistic manner.
And after Baal, we've got tons of spare Marines and chassis..Ask Dante, he knows the names of at least three fellas in every sarcophagus!
You must be mistaking us for the Ravens
things got so out of hands, even the Ravens "borrowed" your identity
WOOOO NEW PONCHA VIDEO
I bought the Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters - Grand Master Edition because it was on sale and because it had the DLC for a cheep price. Did not have the base game and was waiting on it just to get myself a excuse to get it. The last turn based game I played was Warhammer 40000: Mechanicus and before that XCOM 2. Having big robot units was so much fun in both games so I knew It would be awesome to get a dreadnought!!! ,but having it only on some missions is absurd. Some modder needs to make a mod just to be able to bring him whenever we want.
my brother this starting is some heresy, but is good stuff :3
Poncha, if you keep looking that good you can take up as much of my screen as you like ❤
Now now. You’re going to make me blush.
Hey man idk if u know this but one of the patreons u showed(darkminou) is a known 40k r34 artist lmao
Really..? Why am I not surprised.
@@PonchaYT yeah I thought I was tripping at first then I was laughing my ass off
