Man, that intro was hilarious. I loved your version of the trip through and through. It was fun to see the similarities and the differences between the edits and to watch the event unfold and be retold through your perspective. That pour at 41:58 had me cracking up for whatever reason. ohh man so many golden moments. Awesome to relive this one again! Thanks for the kind words, love yah brother, glad I could be a good partner! That ending was Gold :p Can't wait for us to get back out
It was like I was trying to completely miss the cups 😂 So many laughs. Much appreciated brother, wishing we were back out there already...bring on an ice fishing trip!
Im on to your vid next, it looks like you had some great perspectives on the trip too.
You just got a new subscriber. You guys are truly living the dream, can't wait to see more.
Xander only thought that those words of "My precious..." were coming from his ear phones. If only he knew, the real gollum was biding his time.... :)
Did make me laugh, timing was excellent! Cheers!
The most magical thing in this video is seeing a friendship form. God Bless.
Love to see it!
Had a bit of content constipation lately simply because I've been out there enjoying the paddling season and had very little time at home to edit. But we're about to drop a significant deuce of vids over the rest of 2021 so get your ocular TP ready. We've never had such a backlog of content.
A few notes:
1) Long vid, there are chapters in the vid for each day if you want to break it up :)
2) Drone footage was captured at the access point, outside the park boundary.
3) Xander has a top shelf camera and I want to thank him for sharing some footage, particularly that incredible timelapse of the aurora. For his version of this trip and much more, see his channel here: ruclips.net/video/yqk8OFyryxc/видео.html
4) Special thanks to Brad Jennings for his map of this route (and others) and his dad Wayne Jennings for documenting their trip on his channel. The map and video were a big source of inspiration for this trip, linked here: ruclips.net/video/1b1U2JpCDxc/видео.html
So you have a bunged-up channel? Stand back Erin!
Yesssss!!!!! Bring ‘em on!!!!
@James Williams more vids
I meant to reply to Jon’s comment about more vids
@James Williams LOL I meant content constipation as in not getting videos out lately, not literal constipation 🤣
I really appreciate delivering this as a full episode as opposed to spreading it out over 3 or 4 weeks. Was really looking forward to this episode after seeing Xander’s. I think he’ll be buying a dry suit soon 👍. I watched it in spurts. Best 2 hour movie I’ll watch this month.
Appreciate that Jason!! Definitely favour the long format now and don't think I'll use multi-part much anymore, if at all :)
@@LostLakes Hey Jon, first off, GREAT trip buddy, & the chemistry (2 Sigma males) !! ..
That was a great ride !!.. Thanks..
I love the long epics, but I think the short ones have their time and place..
I’m really sorry it took so long to see this one, (life gets in the way)..
This one was real special Jon, in MANY ways.
Loved the dynamic between you two. You guys definitely need to do another trip together in the near future
Just wanted to say I love you channel. The only outdoors channel I can fully watch without skipping parts. Thanks for the great content!
Greatly appreciate that Johnathon!! I recommend checking out Xander's channel too...so fast-paced you won't want to skip anything there either :)
Watched it on the big screen - epic!!!! You and Xander are great together. Amazing wildlife, scenery, and the fun banter between you guys made for a fabulous vid!
Thanks so much Vicky!! Looking forward to the next one with Xander :)
26:18 - I can't even believe how lucky you are. I'm tearing up watching this. What a magnificent animal. This is by far worth the trip alone.
As well. Heart warming.
This has to be one of your best trips ever Jon! Over the top with the wildlife and the moody weather really added spice to your video.
Thanks so much Kelly!! Sorry about the lack of birds to ID on this one 😜
@@LostLakes I forgive you this time...lol!
@@kellybalkom7149 😜
Oh man, that was so great. Thanks , Jon and Xander. 👍🙂🚣♂️🦆
So jealous right now... Xander seems like an awesome companion for such an epic trip! Cudos to him.... wish it was me! Lol. Thanks once again for another video filled with such great content! Congrats on seeing your first Caribou! What an incredible summer you've had.
And you HAVE to do this again. You guys make a great team.
Saw the time on this video and thought nah, i just skip through it. Two hours and 10 minutes later I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Jon, I've been waiting for this...I've already watched his version...I love when two people I'm subscribed to collaborates!! The same adventure with different perspectives....so much fun!!
Thanks GN!! It's so much fun as a vlogger too, seeing your own experience through someone else's lens. Loved Xander's vid!
Northern Light Footage,... EPIC!!!! 👀😍👌👀
Respect brother!! The way you appreciate the land. The animals and all the beautiful fish. Not just the ones you eat!! Beautiful. God’s land!! Thanks for sharing my friend. Stay safe buddy. 🏕🔥
Very much appreciated Dan!!
"Just look at that, magic." ❤️
😁
Jon this video was a No#1. You and Xander just hit every item u had on your list and more. Video fantastic and just amazing beauty and nature. Could not get any better. Luv fishing and the pan fries are what I enjoy. Thanks both.
Very happy that your stranger didn't turn out to be a chatty kathy. Mother Nature was nice to you bringing that great selection of animals out to say hello. Bonus footage of Northern Lights & the wolves howling. That was 2 hrs well spent.
Thanks so much Bruce! Hahah no kidding, you could go out with someone who never shuts up...so many variables and unknowns but fortunately I really enjoyed his company :)
@@LostLakes Thankfully Erin didn't have a scowl on when you brought him home :D
The new Bing and Bob. Xander might not know them. I've been following Xander for awhile now...he's a cutie. You know I love you the best, Xander may be a close 2ed. lol Don't tell Ted, Jim, Joe, Mattew or the Northern Scavenger. :) Beautiful film my friend
LOL 💚💚
Great video guys! Thanks for taking all of us on your journey! I loved every minute of it, beautiful scenery and wildlife and loved the storms! ♥️
Words can’t do it justice….you just have to watch this beautiful and amazing video!!!
💚💚
Wow! The caribou coming out from the forest and spending just enough time posing in the warm light, was surrealistic. To me it felt like a hopeful prophetic vision. I love the north country in the late fall. The wind, dark clouds, late autumn on the trees, the absence of bugs, and the steely color of light, are constant reminders to bathe yourself in what is being offered because it will be gone tomorrow. The Aurora at sunrise, the wolves, moose, and bear, made this trip one I will watch many more times. By the way, the emerging friendship and cinematography is awesome.
Greatly appreciate this Jim! It was a moment to savour...I know I'll never forget it. Could not have asked for more for my first caribou sighting, nor for this trip and the camaraderie :)
Great trip, great chemistry between you two, the videography, wildlife and scenery off the charts. Thanks as always Jon, only getting better!
I'd love to see both of you hanging out more often and this could possibly be the beginning of a new.. Camping Duo?
Already a winter camping trip in the works :)
What happened with the duo he had ?
At 26 minutes the caribou sighting was great. The colors of the forest behind it and your background music made it magical.
That timelapse from Northern Lights to daytime was spectacular.
👍👍
I can say I KNOW without boasting because that was off Xander's cam. He's got a full frame which does beautiful night shots. Lots more of that on his channel :)
I’m from Vermont but when I was a kid my dad built big power transmission lines up in Ontario. We lived in Vermilion bay, Atikokan, and Thunder Bay. My dad would get one year work permit visas. He was considering getting dual citizenship up there for the family. I wish we did. This was back in the 70s so it would have been easy.
@1:45:53 I totally identify with that. I’m very introverted and love solo backpacking in the mountainous wilderness of Idaho. Finding a good outdoor buddy, not to mention one that you’ve never met before, is quite lucky. Especially on such a long first excursion. Look forward to seeing more videos of both of you getting it in the backcountry. You two have a great chemistry.
Thanks a lot Miles! Very lucky indeed. Luckily, having watched his channel before the trip, I suspected that would be the case...but ya never know!
Hopefully your female friend finds a real partner. Any body would beat you out. Say a dog anything but a dipstick. Hey you alt to try something new like Bushcraft. Check out the last partner. She could teach u a lot. Like how to be a bush Man ♂️
@@brianpuffenbarger3824 based on what a douche you are, your parents were obviously shitty parents pal.
One minute in and already can't wait to see the rest with two hilarious goofs camping together! :oD
Hahaha so many laughs, Xander's a riot
Another great video John the scenery there is awesome
Can't stop watching your memorable , beautiful video...and saying goodbye...I felt a little prick pain in my heart watching you guys departed and go home...see you in your next video. I really ❤️watching you both.❤from the 🇵🇭...
What a fantastic adventure! Easily top 3 you've done IMO (Marshall Lake Loop and the little pic river you just re-posted being my other top 3 that I've watched more times than I'd like to admit). You and Xander have a hilarious and charming chemistry. Can't wait to see more, Jon. Keep it up!
With your Lost Lakes video and so many other great adventure videos I'm not lacking in my downtime for something to watch.
Jim Baird, Ted Baird, and Joe Robinet and now the new guy
I love that you put all your trip up at once. And thanks for the chapters... its been really handy when I come back to it to work my way through. Bugger about your fingers being burnt, but looks like they pulled up OK (well, so far... I haven't finished watching the vid yet, lol)
So beautiful out there!
Wow what a trip. Started as strangers but as the journey went on the comrades got closer. Saw wildlife rain and wind and experienced the north, fantastic trip.
Love the long vids.
😁
What an absolute beautiful trip. What a magical place, beautiful moon 🌙 stars ✨ and the Northern lights stunning wildlife, wow wow wow. This vlog just way too fast. I hope you guys join forces again in the near future x thank you for sharing this with us. I love how you thank all the fish you catch and again after you dispatch them x
Thanks so much Helen! Next trip together is already in the works :)
The caribou footage was real magic. A healthy and beautiful animal and they gave you a full view!
Years of waiting for one and I couldn't have dreamt anything better. Incredible specimen modelling for us
Great to see relational growth in the Boreal jungle.
Great trip, epic video. Watched the entirety. Enjoyed it. Thanks John
You're living the life I wish I lived. Thanks for the great videos!
I'm a lucky guy! Thanks a lot GAG!
Great bond, you two. Glad to see this.
That area is fish factory! I caught my PB Pike on a lake nearby. I didn't weight it, I didn't measure it and I didn't dare bring it into my canoe, but I'll never catch a Pike that large again. I wanted to eat fried fish, but I couldn't catch one small enough for only me. As someone once said to me: "The fishing was so good that you had to bait your hook in your pocket!" Hwy 599 goes to the Jurassic Park of angling.
Great memories.
Another master class from Lost Lakes. Love your content.
Thank you so much mccluskeyp!
Another great video showcasing all that Ontario has to offer. I also love the split screen when going down the rapids. Keep up the great content as always!!
Thanks so much Nathan!!
Huge fan of the dynamic of you and Xander, I vote for more of that in the future.
Just amazing. I truly enjoyed this. Thank you.
Thank you so much Barbara!
Epic trip!! Thanks to you both!
Thanks for joining us David!!
Wow those sunrise shots on Day 6 were legendary. Well done!
Liked the subtle subtitles, good touch, helpful without distracting!
Great trip. I can see why you and Xander hit it off well.
Brother... that first image. You have no idea what memories it brings back! In 2010 I travelled across Canada on my bicycle by myself and I remember being so proud of myself when I came across that sign! (Yeah not complicated enough to do that so I figured I would pass by Ontario's northernmost roads and do it counter-wind since I like suffering apparently). Man just because of that you bet I will watch the whole thing from end to end! Thanks for making me feel so damn inspired by sheer coincidence!
(Besides, I became a kayaker afterwards, had enough of the roads for a while!)
That's wild man, kudos! Some people can't imagine doing portage trips, but I can't imagine a long bicycling trip. Thanks a lot Expod!
@@LostLakes Believe me, it's a trip! 😄
"Ephemeral" triple world score!!!
It looked a really special trip. Thanks for sharing!
Hahaha a fellow Scrabbler 😏 One of my favs, thanks for joining us Jody!
Beautiful trip, lots of animals, northern lights, big full moon, good company, I think.. thanks my friend!
So honored to be along with you. You know exactly what I mean. TY
Wow what a trip John, probably my favorite video yet as well . The northern lights timelapes was stunning. Just awesome!
Much appreciated Kyle!! All credit to Xander on that one, he does beautiful night shots and we swapped a little footage after the trip :)
Enjoyed this one. If I could be young again only in my Dreams and watching your videos . Very well produced . Keep on paddling🇨🇦
Thanks so much Mitch!
Wow..what an awesome trip and amazing the bond you two formed...I'd think you guys were old friends
Fantastic never too long a video with content like that I look forward to all of your videos I have a camp in the Arctic watershed and can relate to the beautiful scenery again well done Jim
Wow, as usual great footage!!! Love the woodland caribou!!! Incredible footage!!! Those northern lights, wow just wow!!!
Thanks so much KC!! All credit to Xander on that incredible timelapse!
You know you've become comfortable with someone when you can play the butt trumpet along side them while sitting on a log together 😆 A true testament towards the progress you both have made in what looks like a very promising friendship.
Huge grin over here for that Caribou. Congrats.
Grins for days here :D Thanks OrMoD!
Thanks Jon, great trip, great camaraderie, all together an adventure to remember.
Great quality of sunset and sunrise shots, magical at times. Hard work pays off.
Cheers!
My all-time favorite camping video!! Xander's version #2 ~ love you guys together!! More more! I will buy you more coffees for that, or is it still garlic breads? :oD Yes, now please give Xander 2.5 garlic breads on your next adventure together lolololol!
Aw thank you Janet!!!!!! A winter camping trip is already in the works :D
I love how on the closed captioning rain = [applause], gurgling river = [applause], fish splashing out of your hands [applause!]
😆
What a fantastic journey, and watching the growth of what looks like a great friendship! What a card, the dab after the moose, haha I had to rewind to make sure 🤣. I think those were some of the most amazing sunsets I've seen on yt and on my own trips. ❤️❤️
LOL he was having a lot of fun in the background of some of my shots alright... Thanks so much Christian!
WOW, WHAT.A.MOMENT!!! Congrats on your first woodland Caribou, Jon. That's one of those moments in life you never forget. Not sure if you guys in Northern Ontario share the same nickname, but in northeast Minnesota we call them the gray ghosts. The last known caribou pair disappeared from here in 1981. Since then, there have been only a handful of reported sightings. The last coming in 2004. Its a life's dream of mine to see a Woodland Caribou in the Wild. To say the least, I'm jealous, but so happy for you!!
Thanks so much Nick!! I think I have heard that nickname before and it's quite perfect. Hoped for this moment many times and it was unforgettable. So sad to think that their range gets ever smaller. Someday this place could be the same as MN...a former home
@@LostLakes Man, that is one sobering thought. The fact that wildlife is slowly disappearing before our eyes is pretty alarming. How humans have done so much damage in such a relatively short amount of time, is beyond my comprehension. Honestly... kind of makes me wonder if humanity is on a crash course to killing itself off.
That was so enjoyable! My two favorite characters; good vibes between you 🙏
Just started this one. I did a similar thing this summer. Did an 8 day trip with a group of people I had only met once in person and knew a bit from a fb group. It was amazing how well we got on and enjoyed each other’s company. Paddlers all seem to speak the same language. :)
Absolutely EPIC trip Jon! Some unbelievable images captured. Your videos continue to get better and better. As much as I enjoy the solo stuff- as many have echoed already, this was a very entertaining pairing with Xander. Really looking forward to seeing more and to the next collabo. Thank you for sharing!
Great video Jon. Fantastic footage of the Caribou. Loving what you are accomplishing this year.
Thanks so much Jason! Been a year to remember
Glad Xander was there to tell you to soak that hand; could have gotten really nasty. Magical trip, thanks for sharing it with us.
He's a knowledgeable guy, soaks up info like a sponge :) Thanks for joining us Gigi!
Awesome trip as usual. What a lucky human you are to have all that to experience so close to home. Wildlife spectacular. Thought
that caribou was going to swim over to visit. Thank you for sharing Xander with us. He completed the trip
Been waiting for this. Watched Xander's film. Great trip. Will take me a few evenings to take this all in.
Enjoyed his vid thoroughly, along with the chicken and dumplings on this one on a cool, sopping wet day---thanks Bern!
That was fun! Nice to see shared trip and great wildlife shots. Great filming as usual.!!
Some very cooperative subjects :D Thanks Barb!!
Been waiting on your side of this trip! Great to see another great vid from ya
😁😁
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this. Xander, what do your elf eyes see! 🤣
Hahaha thanks Adam!
Amazing camera work and editing for an epic trip. What a pleasure to watch end to end.
Beautiful caribou experience. They are so spiritual to admire the way they swim. Looks like she or he was having a great time. Nature best gifts. Thank you for sharing. Quality shots all the time.
so impressive with how gentle you are with the fish, this is really very unusual. thank you for you kindness
Appreciate that Karen 💚
As some one outer guys wrote the most magical is seeing friendship form.
But one outer thing that reely impresses me it your respect for the animals. You said "Thank you" too the fish after the dispatch of the fisk. You showing respect for the animal that's keeping your belly full. Big kudos for showing us that.
Awesome adventure. Great to see Xander, just a great guy. Too bad Joe wasn't there, would of been a classic..the 3 amigos 😂. I plan to do an adventure up there this spring. I usually hang around North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins..ect From the GTA here. Thanks for the share was a blast with beautiful scenery, wildlife and 2 great guys👊💥 Stay safe and healthy 🙏
Thanks a lot Iceman! Long drive from the GTA but certainly something to experience. Hoping to get the three amigos together this Dec :D
Love this!! I saw both versions of the trip and loved them equally. I enjoyed watching you enjoy. I said it before that I am a city boy, but this certainly makes me want to explore this.
Thanks a lot Don!
Loved both of your videos, so different and both conveyed the magic and respect for the area so amazingly.
Absolutely loved this. So much beauty in every shot even the rain filled ones. I can't believe that you two are new friends cause you gelled so well. Loved the little bit of Bon Jovi - nice voice Jon. Can't wait for the next big trip. Take care and thanks for sharing. Hugs
Thanks so much TG 💚 We were fast friends
Absolutely beautiful experience you've presented here. Looks like this was one of those trips of a lifetime. Great content as always Jon. Looks like you guys gelled quite well which is always a bonus with a new camp date. I can't remember if you've shown northern lights in your vids in the past but considering how far north you typically trip, do you get to see them often? Thanks for the work putting this together. 👍
Stranger: How do you know I'm not a serial killer?
Me: What are the odds two serial killers are hanging out together?
Jokes aside, looking forward to watching this. Miss Erin though, Winter camping vids with her after the semester?
What a great video! Thanks so much, made a perfect video to watch this weekend. Looked like an amazing adventure!
Loved the video there Jon. Keep up the good work buddy. 👁🛶👁
Thanks Sunbunny!!
29:06 Xander dab. Loved you guys together - super nice vibe of respect and cooperation leading to genuine friendship. Really terrific moments.Loved the discussion about barbless hooks - made me lol and that never happens.
Rightio I had to pause and just mention how happy I am that you got to see that magical caribou, you’ve been talking about it for so long!
Thanks Evan! Worth the wait :D
What an awesome trip, thanks for sharing it with us.
Definitely my fav trip so far. For me I enjoyed it because I felt that it was at my skill level and something I could easily do. And that scenery, wow!
Bryan from Vancouver
wonderful canoe adventure awesome fishing epic views of the wildlife and shore lines, we live in a beautiful country, Love that you thank the fish. after catching and before dispatching. Nice that you had Exander join you made it fun, it was good for you as well . You were so happy and less stressed. I shall check out his video. I honestly wish I could click loved this.
a friend means everything. great trip. rage on. steelhead season on
The shear awe in your face and voice made this 1 of my favourite vids. In 1st nations folklore,1 who sees a caribou is supremely gifted. She came towards you for a reason. Congratulations on that once in a lifetime event.
Thanks guys. What gorgeous scenery. An awesome video. I find that having friends on my adventures really add to the trip. Hope y'all do another trip together. Sure miss Erin.
Your best trip/video ever! Thank you both for sharing! Loved it.
another amazing adventure!! I am sitting here in a bomb cyclone with torrential rainfall for us in CA...perfect for this video!! The caribou was stunning! Seemed like he wanted to come and say hi!! Beautiful as always! I am just like you in that I love my alone time when out in the wild, but it is nice to get to share it with someone every once in a while. Got to finally wear my sweatshirt and it was awesome!!
