Ac!d 2 is a superior game in almost every department, and I'm really glad it exist.. I was really surprised to see it got a sequel, seeing how this one cane out and how it was received
The sequel tried to out do the original and turned a tactical turn based strategy game into Pokemon. Too easy on Normal, too tedious on Extreme. The original is most balanced with more creative boss fights imo.
It was received quite well at the time based on reviews and feedback. It's just that the series core base were put off by the fact that it was a turn-based strategy card game.
I played it on my PSP back in the day, really liked it. Didn't understand the story and some of the gameplay objectives, I was only 12 or 13 years old and from Europe, so there was a language barrier. I got stuck on the last mission due to this. In 2018 I started collecting PSP's and replaying games I played back in the day. Then I managed to play through the game and finish it finally after 24h of playing and did another playthrough for good measure. In 2022 I got into casually speedrunning the game for a while. Since I few weeks I've been doing casuals speedruns on extreme mode to farm cards. If you get A or S rankings consistently you have enough points to buy all card packs three times during one playthrough. Takes me up to 4 hours to speedrun on Extreme.
Yay a fellow Brit who also loves MGA! Such a rare find as I feel I"m the only one who loves MGA (some infuriating mechanics, but great story). So glad i clicked this vid in the home recommended. Loved the video as a whole and everything said was on point :P.
What a nice review, subbed! I was curious about this game since I really miss MGS but never played this series, I was told to skip to Acid 2 at least but you convinced me to try this one. Enjoying it so far!
Thanks for the sub and the kind words! Nice. I still haven't played the second one somehow, despite being a big fan of this one. I'll get to it soon and hopefully make a review for it :D

I had Metal Gear Acid on PSP. I never did beat it and wish I still had it tbh maybe one day. I was sent by Thesummerofmark. Keep up the good work man loved the video. I'll probably do you a solid and go binge your channel.
Thank you! It definitely is worth playing if you are a fan of the series in my opinion. I will hopefully get to playing and reviewing the second one soon! :D
The ACID games are some of the most twisted and trippy, but solid stories from the franchise. Hell, if they simply designed this game as an action stealth title without the turn-based system--and that was doable, considering that we've had Syphon Filter and other Metal Gear titles--these two titles would've been seen even more favourably by the audience and by extension, Kojima.
32:00 that's not true, not even kinda. You have the option in the pause menu to "return to intermission" which literally takes you to the menu where you can set up your deck and choose the next mission.
so what you're saying is this is the DARK SOULS II metal gear games. joking aside i forgot about this game but remember seeing stuff about it as it was coming out. i've grown to love card based mechanic systems. this looks really interesting. i'm not even that big on the MGS franchise (it's essentially the one piece of video games) i must play this lol

That's good to know. Despite my love of the first one I have not played the second yet. Will hopefully get to reviewing it soon :)

God, was this really 17 years ago now?
In retrospect, the deck-building aspect feels ahead of its time.
I know right?! Yeah, for sure. Also, few people seem to even remember it and its sequel nowadays. They are such an interesting set of spin offs.
Love the reviews, thank you!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoy them :)

This was top 3 in my favorites for PSP back in the day.

Great stuff! Glad the RUclips algorithm decided to send me this way! Would love to see you do something on Acid 2!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :) Don't worry, Acid 2 is definitely on the list :D
Great review. A different take on Metal Gear for sure but you make it sound like it's still worth checking out.

Just found your channel via Summer of Mark, loving this video and have dropped a sub. Looking forward to a steady binge of back content 😁
Awesome. Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you enjoy the other content as much! :D

Will the Acid 2 review ever happen ?
Don't worry. It's on the docket :)

Do it! It's such an interesting, weird spin off that no one talks about anymore :/
Why would someone get a msg game that’s primarily based on infiltration and think card game? This isn’t even msg anymore tbh.
I've found the first rare card right before the final mission, this game was one of the most annoying garbage I've ever played of the strategic genra
