Geoffrey Liu plays Liszt - La Chapelle de Guillaume Tell

This is one of my favorite Liszt pieces! It is many things - dramatic, suspenseful, grand, intimate, and most of all inspiring. Liszt recounts the story of Swiss folk hero William Tell (yes, that William Tell from the famous Rossini opera), mountain climber, master archer, and rebel against aristocratic rule. Liszt was inspired to write this during a years-long pilgrimage to Switzerland, and it's the first of several pieces in his collection "Annees de pelerinage".
