Got to fly the 787-8 to Miami (PHL-MIA) the day the hurricane hit last September…my original flight DCA-MIA on a 737-800 was canceled. When I had to pick a new flight I geeked out when I saw a Dreamliner option. And geeked out even more when I upgraded to premium economy (seat 6L). I created a RUclips short boarding and there you can hear my excitement ! Next up. United 787-10 EWR-SFO this March. Can’t wait !!! As always. Awesome videos ! You are my go to now for trip reports. Keep up the good work !
👍🏽Excellent trip report! It felt like I was onboard that beautiful Dreamliner too. I appreciate a good video review and I love to hear the engines roar, the crazy 787 hydraulics , the dimming of the lights, windows and no silly excessive music to mess up the review like so many other reviews. That Oasis garbage is such a disaster and cheapens their fleet. with removing the IFE screens. I flew on a B738 from DCA-ORD and enjoyed the free movie selection and EVERYONE on that packed flight actually used them. Now there’s talk of them returning lol. I recently flew on a B738 from DCA-MIA and the Oasis shit reminded me of Spirit 😂. I will definitely go out of my way to book a flight on a B788/789 soon!
So ironic, I just flew this route a week ago on their 787-9 up in business class for the first time. Loved the plane so your video was almost like walking down memory lane. I totally agree with you about their 737's and 321's. I want the IFE screens back.
Hello, thank you for the video. Would you say that your row 9 with the partition behind, had as much recline as Row 8? Thank you as I have a 10 hour trip to Barcelona and currently in row 9.
I been flying AA since the 707, Dc-10, 747 days. I so sad that they do not have IFE seats on their other planes. I switched to UA, HA, DL. I will give AA a try with their 787
I was one of the early passengers to use AA’s new service to Europe (LGW/DFW/SAN). I think it might have been a DC10. As I was in my early 20’s I used economy but on one occasion they upgraded me to business which was amazing for me. No flat beds in those days but the extra room and better food were a real bonus. They were a very good airline back then but I’ve heard not good reports in recent years. The First class cabin (business long hail) on this flight looks great especially considering it’s a domestic route.
Im flying premium economy in a few months from Hawaii to DFW and obviously I’m doing my research. I thought I got a shout out in the video for a second when you said “ someone tell Doug Parker about this” lol great vid
I was in the premium economy cabin from Medellin to Miami, and it was great. American Airlines widebody aircraft are great, but they have to do something about their narrowbody. It's past due, especially since United has already begun working on theirs.
@@nonstops_aviation I hear you, but the new premium seats look nice. My guess is that some padding would be sacrificed, but hopefully comfort doesn't diminish
Thanks for posting your video. I'll be flying DFW to HLN on a 787-8 in a few months and will be in 9L as you were on this trip. Coming back, it'll be in a 321NEO, albeit first class thanks to points, but no IFE. Flew Orlando to Vegas last year on Delta, so it'll interesting to compare the two.
Great video, just booked this for a trip to HNL this year and it appears better than United 1st class on the smaller 737-9MAX flights. Thanks for adding this.
Scott, when you landed in Miami, were you able to try any Cuban coffee ,chicken croquettes, ham croquettes ,or the guava, pastries? Don’t forget the Cuban sandwiches or the Media Noche ( Midnight) sandwiches.
How come you don’t engage on Instagram? I’ll try here - what’s your preferred US airline lounge and do you think AA will cave to DL and now UA IFE plans?
Super nice report. Very informative. Thank you. Will be on AA a few times this year. Looks a lot like the Premium Econ United product which we thought very nice. Seat and config is the same for the 787. We really like this product for shorter (6-12 hour) long hauls. Dreamliners are very comfortable in PE.
2:28 I was at my cousin's watching the Michigan game that day lol

my husband and I will be in that row flying from Philly to Madrid in May. Do the seats in that row fully recline. I know sometimes with the bulkhead behind you the recline is more limited. Thanks for the great video
We always fly FC/Bus on the 788 DFW-OGG/HNL. Rethinking this after seeing first row of PE. Up front isn’t that special any longer so why pay the premium price? Does PE have dedicated overhead storage as FC/Bus?
First of all, congrats on 40k subs. Yes I have flown AA’s 787’s and 777’s and always seek those planes out when going from Dallas to Miami. What’s not to love about domestic first? Thanks for the great review Emil. ❤️✈️
I'm flying this from ORD to BCN. Due to the length of the flight (almost 9 hours) I was considering upgrading to first class, but after seeing your video I might stick to Premium Economy. It looks just like first class on some flights I've taken! Question, how far back do the seats recline? Would it be enough to be comfortable and sleep? Thanks for the video!
That is one of the pros of living in Miami, is having this as an option! Ever since I moved most of my flying to United, I fly American for the nonstop option so I’m normally on the usual 737 lmao
Looking based on most recent trip report and my experience on American 787 and 777 it seems the Wi-Fi is fixed pricing rather than based on distance. So if it is very long distance flight, it may be worth it rather than short haul flights.
Unfortunately no club access on premium economy unless you have a membership. As for headphones, I do believe they’re noise cancelling for long haul flights
I used to fly AA all the time for work including overseas however today I fly Delta more and to Asia ANA. Only flew economy a few times mostly business or first but always loved AA and flying into or out of DWF is always fun. They went downhill years ago, so I switched. Maybe I should try them again. Thanks for the flight, I love the 787's.
Can anyone give feeback on the main cabin extra that is right behind the premium. They both have the same reclining and the width and pitch is about 1.5 inch difference on o
What more do you need to know? On domestic flights, PE seats are sold as Main Cabin Extra despite the fact that they offer much more room. PE is a wider seat than MCE.
What are your thoughts on the new cabin that AA teased for their future 787s, A321XLRs, and 777-300ER retrofit? Do you think AA will retrofit all existing 787s? Do you think AA will do partial retrofits for 787s (similar to United 787 retrofits where they retain the same economy seats)?
I was blown away by them. They look stunning. Especially the new business class seat on the widebodies. I do think they’ll retrofit the 787s, especially those with the coffin seats, as for economy, idk, my guess is they’ll just re-upholster them.
@@ITripReport Your right Emil, I think American needs to end up just like their competitors by putting closed business class suites on their widebodies and renewing their economy and premium class
When it comes to Oasis, I have bad news and good news. Bad news is that Oasis retrofits have started for their A319. Good news is that they seem to be starting Oasis with those ex-US/Frontier planes. Have you flown economy in those ex-US/F9 A319s, and how comfy are they relative to Oasis economy?
Love i love it congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. Nice video I have flown twice from lax to Sjo Costa Rica 🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷 when ya said Mexico played bad !! No they are always classified the all world cups i an Costa Rican nice video again.
How many crew are on the 787? I’m flying dfw to Honolulu soon and I always like to gift the crew. But would love it if someone knew how many flight attendants and pilots on this plane so I can know how many gifts to buy . And no I’m not gifting to try to get free stuff, I just always like to do it as a thank you for the crews .
I wish I knew how many they had, which unfortunately I don't, but based on some articles from 2018, I want to assume its at most 8-9 crew on the 788, excluding pilots ofc
Don't you think that American Airlines should update the safety video for their Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s? It is 6 years old since its prob due for safety video to get updated.
My wife, my toddler son and I rode in a round trip TX-FL / FL-TX in Premium Economy and I will say it was the most pleasant flight we’ve ever had. Very comfortable seats. Ample space. I hardly felt any turbulence but that could be due to the plane’s (Dreamliner) design.
Can't even sit together in First and in Economy 3 together with someone in the middle seat! TOTAL GARBAGE!! Just like a crowded 737!! Premium Economy is the ONLY CHOICE!!!
Aside from the great videos. You have excellent taste in TV shows. Office, Parks and Rec? Well done young man. Great stuff all the way around

How was your trip? I'll be in row 9 window for a 12 hr flight to Japan. Curious to know if they fully recline
Our flight is tomorrow, but watching the RUclips videos. It seems a reclines just as much as the other three rows in premium economy.

AA the junkiest airline. Couldn't pay me to step on to one of their neglected airplanes.
You obviously don't routinely fly on most domestic carriers. Delta, United, same. Alaska seems better but all smaller aircraft.
