Welcome to iTripReport's flight reviews, which I focus on reviewing both the soft product and hard product of airlines around the globe. I strive to give you guys a first person perspective of different aspects of the flight. Including the ground service, onboard service, and those views that come with the flight. As you can see, I record quite a lot of the experience to make sure I record what you want to watch. As always, thank you so much for watching.

I just flew EWR-MXP-EWR a few weeks ago, UA 772ER. My seat on the segment to Milan was in economy, and it was terrible. I am quite tall and large, so I was nearly crippled by the time I reached Malpensa. To my pleasant surprise, United emailed me with an offer to upgrade to Premium Plus for an additional $225. It was marvelous! The food and service were marginally better, and the seat was infinitely better. I will never return to economy, which I suppose is their business strategy: give the customer a taste a luxury and they will always come back!

Why do you think they make economy so miserable? Just to give you the offer they know you won't refuse. It is called marketing and is somewhat despicable. Those who cannot buy their way into comfort are simply forced to bear hours under barely adequate conditions. Where is government in all this? Or, would government only make things far worse?

Loved your video! Takeoff was quiet from your seating over the wing too. It’s nice to see the seating layout, esp economy versus the plus and premium seats 💺 to get an idea for those long haul flights. I’ve not flown United in a long time so I’m looking forward to the experience.

Great report! Having recently flown with UA in both PP and Polaris, I think Polaris is really only worth it for overnight flights. The flat bed and bedding makes a big difference on long overnight sectors but for a daytime transcon, hard to justify the extra cost when the service level is so similar.

Polaris good for long haul international flight, normally 9 to 14 hours flight, such as you fly to Japan, it took 14 hours, and the food and drinks are completely different from PP class, there is no comparison if flying international.

I fly east coast to UK regularly and take the opposite view. For 6 night hours where you barely sleep anyway you might as well pocket the cash and go Prem Y. Westbound flight is longer, you are more alert and can really enjoy the whole experience better. Value proposition is greater. LHR Polaris shower is very good.

I flew PP on the 767-300 EWR-LAX last month and it was PHENOMENAL! Having full meals and unlimited alcohol are a plus, as Alaska DL, jetblue, & AA only give snacks in premium economy on their transcons.

I flew PP on the 787-10 from ewr-cdg a little over a month ago, also flew on the 787-9 from lhr-den in polaris which is slightly over 9 hours. I wold agree with your opinions on the service, meals in both classes need to improve to be more competitive with delta. Even though flights from the east coast to europe arent over 8 hours I would recommend flying polaris on the way out because the lie flat seats really help for sleeping and you wont be as jet lagged when you get there. Im guessing PP is great for daytime flights especially longer ones as you have more room than economy and polaris just isnt as worth it with the service at the moment.

KEWR/EWR is a pretty nice airport, good views of NYC and nice for plane spotting. One funny thing that happened on the Airtrain was I forgot how quick it accelerated, and nearly fell on somebody. There’s also nice views on the approach and departure. And the United Club Lounge is nice, it’s big and has nice views of the ramps. However I believe I was at the other United Club Lounge

I've flown United's Polaris 777-300ER on a short 2 and a half hour flight. Very nice seat, godo food too. We're looking at taking our next holiday, which I'm hoping is to the UK as I've some friends that I'd like to see with the world opening back up.
Business is outside of our price range, and with my partner being on the taller side, I've been looking at premium economy offerings. Our local airport is served only by American/United. Further airport we have more choices, but the cost is the same.
So far, United has been the cheapest offering to get to LHR, by several hundred dollars. And this review will help make my decision, thank you!

I recently flew from DEN to LHR in Premium Plus. I remember getting the full International Amenities Kit that was also passed out in Polaris, and they gave us a full service breakfast upon arrival. I really enjoyed the larger seats, extra storage space, the foot rest, and all of the improved features offered in Premium Plus. Overall, I would highly recommend flying in it or Polaris. Premium Plus is like having a better version of first class that is offered on the narrow bodies (737, a320, etc.). I have been loyal to United for a long time as I always find their service, flights, and customer service better than any other airline. Overall, great video!

Very good video. Disappointed like you that the PP meal wasn't better and that should have been a meal for economy (if they got one).
Then for that meal to be served in Polaris.....again UA disappoints big time. I'm flying 777-300ER IAH-HNL on Tuesday. I'll be interested to see what that flight's food offerings are. For me, the Polaris price diff is worth it. I'm older now and the ability to stretch out and relax is what I love.

Arriving at SFO at about 8pm local time,EWR time would be about 11pm,bedtime for most folks on the flight--where did you overnight? Wish you could've chosen a seat ahead of the wing so we can hear that GE90 sound--but that would put you in the business cabin. Surprised you didn't order any alcohol, specifically whiskey--you have a liking for Canadian Club whiskey! And that cheese plate--we all know that you're lactose-intolerant! :)

Flew UA's Premium Plus twice on international flights, once on 777-300ER in 2019 and another time on 787-10 in March 2022. The service offered in PP had declined markedly, whether due to pandemic or just simply cost savings measures, or perhaps different service levels for trans-Pacific flights (777) vs. trans-Atlantic flights (787). That said, the extra cost of PP over standard economy is worth the extras for me. Get a wider seat without shelling out the big bucks for Polaris, and still gets you from point A to point B at the same time.

I am flying United To the US From Sydney Australia in 10 Days in Premium. I had a hard time deciding if was going to fly with united or with delta. I haven't flown with either before so i ended up choosing united. I will fly with delta next time so I can make a comparison. Feeling a little anxious about flying to the states, not sure why though haha I've flown internationally to Europe a few times. I guess once you have flow with Qatar Airways it hard to find anything remotely close to that.

But domestically it feels kinda eh, like sure if you got around not spending $200+ extra or another $100+ for Polaris but it just feels like because people want it so bad they'll just keep their prices higher than literally most of the market.

Oh man UA really needs to up their catering for premium cabins… that food looks so not appetizing. Esp considering the extra $$$ people pay for PE and J cabins. Also, small things like plastic cups and lack of pre-departure drinks make it feel like UA is trying to cut costs again in the name of COVID.

Why Premium plus? Plus what? It’s a Premium Economy seat but I guess United don’t want to use the dreaded “economy” word 😂😂. Maybe the plus is for the food though it’s becoming more common now in P.E. on many airlines to offer meals similar, though slightly slimmed down, to Business Class. Would I upgrade to Polaris? Depends on how much extra they want to charge, I do like using the flat bed option.

I've been on Premium Plus before. I don't think it's worth it. It's not that much more room than Economy Plus. Polaris is deifnitely worth it.

When you are in public, you are subject to all of the indecencies accorded your status. If you are in private places, like your home, you get more rights to privacy. Unilaterally deciding otherwise will likely get you arrested but, for some, that is the only way they learn the limits of their own ego and intelligence. Good luck with your expectations.

Strange that they don't use glassware in PP. I know they do for the international version of the product.

Stop with text only. I can't read as fast as you think and it’s boring. Either I read or watch, I can’t do both at the same time. Can you speak? its so frustrating.

It’s interesting that the soft product is practically the same as Business class on these flights.
