As a Super in NYC I can attest to a few things… 1) Since Covid, the last three projects have been scrapped. The 2 world trade building is under construction but redesigned. Not as tall 2) Morgan Stanley is now making 1585 Broadway HQ, their flagship once again. Every trading floor and feature is being upgraded to state of the art, enviro friendly amenities. I am currently on this project so I should know. 3) Hudson Yards sits on a constructed underground platform that took 4 years to drill and build. No bedrock existed but with 100 thousand yards of concrete beneath, and 660 drilled caissons, it already holds 5 large skyscrapers and a 9 story mall. So bedrock is NOT an issue anymore. Phase two of HY was postponed until possibly 2026 when several hotels, a public school and affordable housing are planned.

It's about dispersing people in available spaces, not stacking them up like sardine cans. Anyway, you can build a store front with a 6 story building. We done it before and the buildings are just as functional. Building super tall structures is a dumb idea when most jurisdictions lack the transportation infrastructure that could accommodate these residences. It is much smarter to spread this load gradually in the course of several blocks or miles than specific areas. So that's why I used smart cities because it encompasses more than just the structure.

How bout covering the old, tallest skyscraper (taller than ESB) that were never COMPLETES in the city. Metropolitan Life Building, Deco building would have been grand. They built only the base, which is still there. Instead they sold a lot of brass replicas of the never completed building to everybody. It would have been a combination of the Rock and ESB. Pls make one for such building.
That last inverted skyscraper that is continuously cantilevered is the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. It looks like somebody took the skyscraper and turned it upside down, it's just awful aesthetically and I think would absolutely mar the skyline more than some of the other God awful messes that are being proposed or have been erected in the last 15 years. Actually, Central Park Tower has beaten the Sears Tower by a mere 100 feet. So CPT is the tallest building in the US by floor height. Chicago can no longer boast about that anymore 🤷♂️
I think it was in memorial, and in my opinion I would rather have the memorial fountains than just a rebuild. 911 also embarks a new era for skyscrapers, and I feel like the freedom tower is elegant, functional, and a symbol (especially with it's height and spire). To me, the ideal plan would've been to rebuild the twin towers stronger and safer, next to the memorial where the original towers once stood. Instead, we're stuck with this piece of glass that doesn't represent anything and looks like a typical skyscraper these days.
