Just got this done using your guide and I'm so happy with the difference in low gears at low speeds, the shifting, and the more consistent inertia under braking. Took quite a bit of effort to get those bolts off since I think I'm the only person to do it on my 2014 MCS, plus getting the bushing out is a pain, but well worth the upgrade. Thanks for the tips!

Did you and him both not bother propping up the motor while the lower mount was removed? The upper mount alone holds the engine in place well enough to swap out the lower...?

Great video. I just got a Mini F55 with original engine mounts. There is a bit of vibration at idle. I’m wondering if this mod will help to make less vibration at idle?

@chrisjfox8715 yeah the bottom mount is not a engine support
Its purely to prevent motor rotation

I got a 2014 F56 Cooper with 39.000km and it needs a motor mount replacement and the car is in excellent shape its so bizarre for a car with that many km to need a motor mount replacement, great video!

I had well under 20,000 miles on my 2017 Cooper S when mine went bad. Apparently mine actually tore according to my Mini tech, and they did it under warranty.

Hi Lawrence! Hope your well. How are you getting on with this? I’ve been advised to replace mine but not sure to go down the route of buying a new mount and the power flex bush or just get the bush and install it in the old mount. Thanks for this video 😊

Thanks for the excellent video and instructions which were very helpful when I replaced my OEM Engine Mount with the Powerflex Poly Yellow Bushing. The procedure itself was easy but the hardest part was removing the OEM black bushing (which was molded onto the metal tube insert) and I had to cut it out.
However, I am having a slight problem whereas the car shudders when first starting the car and while Idling from 1500 to 750 RPM. Also, the shaking/shuddering happens again when engaging the 1st gear but it goes away when accelerating beyond the 1500-rpm. It seems to only happen in the range of 1500-750 rpm whether accelerating or decelerating. Just wondering if you experienced that behavior.
P.s. I did use the 2 black Inserts to stiffen the Yellow Bushings (which came in 2 halves)

Thanks for the reply and yeah I had a slight amount of vibration and above idle. I had a similar mount on my older audi tt and this did the same. When you install a harder mount it will transfer more vibration in to the car.

@@LawrenceHorsfall Thanks Lawrence for the quick response and for putting my mind at ease that I didn't do something wrong!
Do you thing if I remove the 2 black inserts it'll make the Poly Bush 'softer' and the vibrations will go away? and have you tried it on your F56 S? I very much appreciate your input

Yesterday my powerflex bushings arrived, for the lower engine mount and upper right engine mount and upper left gearbox mount. I think i install it in two weeks.
Got so much problems with my Mini Cooper S...
My 5000km old original engine mounts are damaged, my engine jumps up and down, forward and backward, my wheels are hopping. I think my driveshafts are damaged but they look good.
I hope the new mounts with the powerflex bushings are helping.
You allready install your mounts with the bushings, how it feel?

Why did you replace the engine mount itself and not just remove the bushing from the old arm and replace it with poly bush?

    • @LawrenceHorsfall
      @LawrenceHorsfall  5 лет назад +1

I never replaced the arm. I cut the old bush out and put the poly bush in the old arm.
