I had watched many RUclips videos including most of the ones by The Hoover Boys. On my birthday this year, Garrett introduced the Apex! I figured it was a sign! Mary Fredette Best of luck Mary! My Mother and I went half-ers on a metal detector back in the mid 70’s. Poked around some farms. We found more bottles than we did coins or buttons. Lol. As a teen, got talking to an old timer in the town I grew up in. He told me that lake in the middle town used to be a beach back in the 30’s to the 50”s. My pal and I (we were probably 15) found all kinds of 40’s and 50’s silver dimes and quarters.
Living in Western Canada on the Alberta prairie, those finds are generally as good as it gets. I would love io know what you find on Rhode Island!! So much more history than my part of the the world. I have not touched a metal detector in better than 40 years. These guys make me want to get back in the game.!! Again, best of luck! Such a cool hobby! Rob

Great compilation, I have learned a lot about metal detecting watching you guys, while I probably will never find the quality of items you folks find I am happy to report that I just found my second Merc in a little over one month, seven inches deep using the std coil on the AT Max, my years silver total so far is 3 Rosies, 2 Mercs, and a Washington quarter, I also found a 1901 V nickle, and a nice 37 Buffalo, and several wheaties in the teens, 20s and later. I dig those little squeaks and it pays off at times. Keep up with the great videos !

That one won me a free Garrett carrot from Garrett’s find of the month. Brad’s flowing hair oopsie is probably my favorite HB find. The chain cent is a close 2nd.

I really liked the big gold ring that Bobby found. I think it says "J.B. McClane" on it and "Orregon Forever". There was a J.B. McClane that came West with a wagon train in 1843. He was the first Postmaster in Salem, OR. He was also an Indian Agent and a county treasurer here in Oregon for a while. He did spend a brief time in California looking for gold but came back to Oregon. He was born in Philadelphia in 1820. So that ring could possibly be old also.

His Grandfather L.B. McLane was superintendent in the directories of American Gas Companies in Or. and Pa. he is hugely important in Oregon state history. What a tremendous find!!!! If only we could learn the circumstance by which he lost the ring in that field and when. Congrats!!!

Hi Boys, That vid was by far one of your best. It had me on the edge of my seat for the whole time. As you asked what was some of our best finds.
My oldest coin : 1797 cartwheel penny, found at an old stone hut.
Most valuable: several gold rings and another with 8 small diamonds.
Most heart pulling: This was when I located my Great, great grandfathers house site in a state forest. The best find at that site was his gold pocket watch and the skeleton key. Also several piano accordion reeds, of course these were his items in my eyes. Dennis
