Since tumbling down this rabbit hole, I've shed more tears than the sum total of the previous 60 years.
Some of those are tears I owed, but most are out of sheer amazement, joy and rapture.
Marko's interpretation of HIGH HOPES draws the most. GHOST LOVE SCORE draws the second and EVER DREAM dries out the remainder.
This band ROCKS with the best of them, but the truth is in the emotional exchange. The investment from Floor is returned from their fans in quantities beyond measure. Exponentially!

Old rock and roller here tools music is good but to me growing up going to concerts when you see them in life and there great no touch up then you know it's a great band that's what I look for I'd guit listening to new music in the world early 2000 because of auto tune and other things, then I accidentally came across nightwish and started listening again, real music I'm glad I found them at the end of my life. One of my absolute favorite Nightwish songs. Not only musically, but lyrically, this piece is pure brilliance. Not only is Tuomas one of the premier composers alive today, he's also one of the best poets.

Talking about focussing on an album:
Nightwishs last album and masterpiece ""Human:II:Nature" is perfect for doing it song by song in the right order.
For each song there is a perfectly fitting lyric video. The only exception is "Noise" which has a storytelling video. And for "How's the Heart" there is a stripped back acoustic version from "Planet Rock".
For one song it is helpful to know the story / background ahead to listening to it: "Shoemaker" is about Eugene Shoemaker, a very interesting person who is honored by this song. Oh, and "Music" is written from the perspective of music itself.
The song on this album are quite different from the Nightwish songs before, but they hav nevertheless a lot of things in common:
- Sophisticated songwriting
- Huge variety in style, moods, tempi, ...
- Three great singers with Floor doing crazy things with her voice
- ....
Definitely in my top 5 Nightwish songs

Great reaction and analysis. I consider this song and Shoemaker mini-masterpieces just below the big three masterpieces (GLS, Poet and Greatest Show on Earth) in emotion and epicness. Don't worry about the emotions coming through. Lots of Nightwish songs do that to me, despite having heard them doezen's of times. For another emotional song I recommend While Your Lips are Still Red live from Wembley with Marko in the lead. Another tear jerker.

This Decades tour from Nightwish in Buenos Aires you are on - it is pure gold. This song was a very old one, which Floor lifted into a vocally masterpiece. A similar one from the same tour "Deep Silent Complete" - also quite simple built - but Floor does her magic and it becomes happy and almost impossible to get out of your ears afterwards.
Or " Carpenter" - starting with Troy on lead - and then Floor takes over. It's an incredible ballad..
Both songs are not the most reacted to - but they are incredible.

This song is based on a hypothetical scenario. This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas' inner child speaking.
When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..."
Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. The swan is the guide to the afterlife in Finnish mythology. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side. A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny.

@@Skullzrapper I'm sure we or I have mentioned already that Tuomas has several pseudonyms and lyrical illustrations for himself, boy, poet, dreamer, writer/song writer, phrases like "one with a pure heart" - a young boy. Tuomas wastes nothing, not one note or lyric or backdrop, it's all there for a purpose.
He's woven two lines from Shakespeare in here almost verbatim:
Sonnet 71 - Nay, if you read this line, remember not the hand that writ it
Sonnet 72 - And live no more to shame nor me nor you.
It's a very moving piece, even the usually happy jester Emppu is serious, and Floor's delivery needs no expansion.
Not often a composer writes his own musical obituary and epitaph.
Sad Song , but strangely Uplifting tone to it ...
This song is about a young boy who is misunderstood. He never has had anyone close or anyone at all to talk to, so his music is what he lives for and is where he puts his feelings. His music gives him the push to keep on living and he puts everything into it. He tries to improve his life but whatever he does, he can never get back to the way he used to be. He says that people shouldn't ask for a better world because the world has already been made and been done.
In the talking part of the song, he is telling people not to remember him but to remember the music that was his life. He wants a mother's lap to sit on, he just wants to be loved. He cares about the world but he feels like he is just a waste of space because he has nothing and no one to love him he is just like an ocean - abused - and is just a very lonely boy and it is just his "bitter farewell."
As soon as Floor started singing my eyes went all misty. One thing someone pointed out on another reaction to this song that I thought was pretty poignant….Emppu’s guitar solo…the expression on his face when he finishes…not his usual smiling, happy visage. Maybe that demonstrates the power of this song….it even got to him.
Marko's instrument is called "The Beast". The top neck is a 4 string bass guitar, and the bottom one is a 6 string electric guitar.

My favorite song.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. While I generally prefer Floor's versions of all Nightwish songs (while still loving previous ones), this is one song where you should definitely listen to Tarja's live version as well. She performs the last section especially in a very different way that highlights the versatility and genius of this song. In my opinion, you can't get a complete sense of its true beauty and power without both versions. Every time I listen to a reaction to one, I immediately have to listen to the other.

“High Sensitive Person” which is an actual clinical term.
One of my favourite NW songs, and while I do love Floor and this version, I still have a soft spot for the original. Tarja's more operatic vocals fit the song perfectly and make it even more haunting in my opinion.
