Sir you crying in front of the millions upon millions of RUclipsrs is a greater Act of courage and strength than any ice bucket challenge. In the Nightwish Army we pick people up we don't tear them down. I'm pretty sure everybody on here can agree with me on that.
This song gets me every time. The composition, the lyirics, everything really. Emppu's solo always cuts right through my heart. So simple, yet so effective! I absolutely love this song.
That makes at least two of us.... And I never saw Emppu looking more serious than in this video. I always have the chills from the beginning, the first second till the end. It's the only song I have that with.
Thanks Eric... At 61, I have seen, felt and heard quite a few bands... none have affected me the way Nightwish and Floor have. For myself, I've been locked away, emotionally for much of my life. 5 years ago my wife and I took in our two youngest grandchildren, our granddaughter only three days old. We raised them for almost three years and when they moved out...my walls came down...all at once. In those same moments, I stumbled upon Nightwish when surfing RUclips for anything to take my mind off the kids. My musical tastes have never been set or stagnant. My preference has been rock and metal. Discovering Nightwish during a seismic shift like the one I was experiencing created an emotional connection unlike any before. Every single time I hear GHOST LOVE SCORE, I'm wrecked. EVER DREAM... wrecked. HIGH HOPES... wrecked. DEAD BOYS POEM.. twice wrecked. You might start to see a pattern. Suffice it to say, Nightwish has that effect on SO MANY of their fans so it's not unheard of that another 'new' fan has a similar experience. I called my mom at 230 in the morning one day and the only thing I needed to know was that I had honored my mother and father. I never heard them say they were proud of me. I still wait for my father to say so. He's 76 this year and probably not many years left to speak those words. I graduated high school a year early and for my graduation gift, received luggage and a ride to the airport. I left home at 17 to enlist in the military and served 20 years. After my retirement my wife and I started a second career, bought my first home and raised two children. I now have seven grandchildren and been fully retired for 15 years. I never moved in with my parents after that first exodus at 17. Never borrowed money. Never laid my problems on their doorstep...my mom sends birthday and Christmas cards, but I haven't been invited to Thanksgiving since leaving in 1977... Tears can be cathartic, healing and cleansing. I feel ya brother. Honestly. Be well and be proud of the man you are and the husband I see that you are. For me that's all I want too.
Always, when I hear the verse "And you .." I feel a fist in the plexus, and I shed tears. Nightwish is the only band that made me feel this way. You're not alone, Eric. There are other dumpsters in fire here.
Same here. It starts at 10:10 and 10:21 the tears are always there :-) BTW this particular performance is easily in my top 3 of Nightwish performances / songs.
Dear Eric, this is the mother of all NW songs. Always a joy to see a wrecked soul! Tuomas had an idyllic childhood and a warm, loving family. He was never a disappointment to his parents. But he was always different and "inside his head" with not many friends. Later years have produced happier songs and perhaps to some extent his "heart has found a home" with Johanna after a lot of heartache and searching. Life will reward you too.
As a person on the autism spectrum, I can relate to him being different and inside my head. It actually makes me think he may also be as well and a savant.
And that's why I love Nightwish ❣🎼🎧❤ Especially with Floor ❣ They're not making just music They creating an adventure or journey through your emotions. Tuomas is definitely fricking genius and his music IQ is from another planet ❣💞❣🎼🎼 Superb reaction Take care and stay safe man 🙏👍
I love that you listen to the music with more than just you're ears, Nightwish is a more than just an auditory experience, it's and emotional and mental experience also.
Yes. My Mom is hard of hearing, legally blind, has dementia, and is 102 years old. And with headphones, she is a Nightwish fan. When she listens, her eyes are closed, and her eyelids are showing REM(rapid eye movement). I want to know what she is seeing on her eyelids, but she is so enthralled, I can't bring myself to stop the music and ask her. This is one of her favorite songs(I think, because she doesn't remember hearing it before). How do I know? Because...tears.
Beautifully said. Nightwish is soulful, so soulful experience if you just let them in... Well they can still come with a rumble in your heart even if you try to fight back :) They are extraordinary.
*Hasn't heard Poet and the Pendulum yet* "This song completely wrecked my soul" Oh my sweet summer child lol Great reaction, I got hit by the "wish I didn't feel for you anymore" line too
The very best thing about Emppu is that he is a constant and consistent master of the concept that "less is more." There are waaaay too many guitarists that, in an effort to give themselves more of a spotlight, use every opportunity to outplay the song, the band, or even their last effort. Emppu has a master-level skill to blend the highest levels of talent with exactly what the song needs. He's not there to try and garner the spotlight only for himself. He's there to give his tonality to the desires of the song. There have been a number of Nightwish's songs where, upon my first time hearing it, I expected the guitar to come out with fast licks or long diatribes of flash along the fretboard and strings. Emppu never goes down that easy path. And yes, that would be an easy path for a player of his caliber. There's a noble character in that restraint. It's obvious that Emppu is among the highest levels of guitar players. He doesn't appear to try and prove it at every live opportunity.
I absolutely love Emppu for that exact reason. He doesn't show off even though we all know he could. He is one of, if not THE most precise guitarists I've ever seen. He gives exactly what the song needs. The right tone, volume, speed, and emotion. He's the only one left in the band who has been there from the beginning with Tuomas. He knows exactly what was going on in his friend's life when every one of those songs was written, and he was also affected by whatever Tuomas felt. He plays everything perfectly. He doesn't make it all about him, his ego, or a need to put on a show. I respect him so much!
Emppu have also composed one song for Nightwish, Who Ever Brings The Night 😊👍 From Anette's era. Emppu is my absolute favorite ❤️ So funny and always smiling 😊 Can't wait to see him live 😍
@@shadokat The observation of what Thuomas was experiencing when a song was written is key to Emppu's recreation on stage. He doesn't necessarily exactly recreate the studio versions, but he still stays within the bounds of the nature and the needs of the song.
@@helky8 I've watched a number of studio and tour rehearsal vids from the last tour with Anette. He's an absolute joker and I've read in many places that he enjoys a quiet practical joke....like turning off Floor's monitors mid-song! 🤣
Emppu and Tuomas has been best friends from very young ages and it was actually Emppu who said to Tuomas to ask Tarja to join the band as the singer. He is a person who loves to be on stage and let the quitar play but dosen't want to be on the front of the stage at all. Marko can leave the band and it can go on, but if Emppu goes I think it will mean more to Tuomas.
Finally someone talks about Emppu. I've been playing guitar since the day Randy Rhoads died, so it's been a hot minute and I absolutely love Emppu. He's not overly flashy.. but he reminded me of Gilmour.. He plays what is needed to enhance the story. And he does it masterfully.
We are soul mates - I have not lost my wife. However, knowing the song and being a son that never could live up to my fathers expectations is somehing many Can relate to. Seen it 300x and still tearing up every bloody time. Greetings from Denmark🇩🇰
I have to say that you are by far my favorite reactor Eric. For me music is about emotions, lyrics that sometimes say what you can’t put into words, it brings people together, unites our souls? You bring all of this to the table, especially when you play a Nightwish song. I love Nightwish so much that I’m always ready for your next reaction to them before you even finish the one I’m listening to! Take care & god bless. 😊🙏💜💚
Dead Boys Poem is for me the 4th of great NW-Songs together with "The Greatets Show on Earth", "Gost Love Score" and the greatest and the most emotional song ever written "The Poet And The Pendulum". When you get so emontional with DBP you should be warned to watch and listen to "Poet". This emotinal rollercoster is much more higher!
@@robhannah2794 Right! The Lyrics version ist "a must". The silent and spoken parts are better understandable, especially the last two words of the song "The beginning". In Combination with that the first two words "The end" are getting sense.
I concur, and please do remember - there are reasons why Tuomas let the technicians kill Floor's voice in his earpieces, at the last part... although it is actually the new bright beginning
Exactly, Poet is on another level, especially after knowing the story behind the masterpiece. The album version is powerful. However Floor's ability to cut through any guard, takes it to yet another level.
I absolutely concur. I look forward to the day you take 'The Poet and the pendulum' on but you should perhaps take a look on the brighter side of Nightwish such as 'My Walden' or 'Alpenglow' first.
Empuu has an almost mystical ability to make the guitar sing and cry with such captivating simplicity and incredible complexity in such a humble yet powerful way.
Eric.. I love how you listen with your heart as well as your ears. Once again, my sincere condolences for your tragic loss. Tuomas wears his heart on his sleeve through his music. It's his biggest emotional outlet, or so it appears by what he writes. He gets to me, too. This band is special. It goes beyond talent, chemistry, and professional musicianship. These guys are so far beyond other artists in so many respects! Please don't feel embarrassed for reacting honestly to beautiful music. Never apologize for that. We are all kindred spirits here. I watched another reactor listen to this song a few days ago. Not only did it not move him, but he rated it one of his least favorite Nightwish songs. A far different reaction from yours to another of Tuomas's masterpieces (I think most of their songs are masterpieces). Thank you for putting yourself out there, something that most people simply would not do. I wasn't one of the people who requested this song but I'm sorry you were blindsided by it. We can never tell how someone will react to a piece of music, and I hope you'll forgive us by knowing that your soul has been brightened even by a beautiful song that makes you sad. She is still with you; she sees you crying and mourning for her and she loves you all the more for it. I'm sorry if I'm getting too personal but I'm only trying to convey how much I appreciate someone like you who has the courage to publish a video where he gives a strong emotional reaction like that and still lets us see it. Respect, sir. Much respect.
@@TheWyldesidewithEricClark Keep in mind Eric, when you allow us to feel your emotion it validates what each of us are feeling every time we listen to this performance. I have heard so much great music over my decades of living the rock and metal scene, and don't tear up very often over music. But this woman, Tuomas' compositions, and the boys have brought a passion for music back into my life that was missing for a very long time. Thank you for validating my own emotional response to this beautiful piece of artistic genius! 🙏
@@TheWyldesidewithEricClark I'm glad you did publish it. More people need to be exposed to the emotion and feeling that come with this song. It's important. You aren't the only one who this affects in this way, and it helps those who might need a space like your channel and the comments sectrion to come to grips with their own personal stuff.... Kudos man!
Old Nightwish already had Tuomas' genius, but somehow the band and the production was not on the level they deserve. Now, years later, some lineup changes later, they bloom into full beauty. Edit: "OCD metal"... well said :)
Indeed. I was not expecting much from this performance, because the song is very old and I've heard it a thousand times and it never really hit me. But with Floor, and their 2018 skills and production it was elevated to a whole new level. I'm positively surprised how much new life they could bring to this piece.
Oh Eric, also please do not feel that showing emotion is unprofessional. It's a *reaction,* and it would be less professional to just be a robot. Never apologize for feeling the music, because that's the very thing we love you for. Yes, we're surely assholes for recommending painful songs, but we recognize the ability to appreciate the music. There are far too many channels out there where people smile and nod, or get excited over anything. You are genuine. You must never apologize for being genuine, or start hiding how songs make you feel. Please promise us to not change, and promise yourself you won't feel shame or unprofessional for it. ❤️
no shame is crying and showing your emotions while watching Nightwish!!! I am sure many of us have done that a number of times already. Great reaction!!! Love it!!
The Vocal Sorceress that is Floor got you good. Don't be ashamed of the tears because this song is one of the Epics. 😇😇😇😇😇 This magnificent band of the Gods playing their music combined with the stunning visuals on the stage and behind them is out of this world. Peace out and be safe. Hail Nightwish 😇😇😇 Here is a suggestion Floor with her old band Revamp (Disdain )
Man, you made my day. I'm a 55 year old metalhead and started watching reactions due to the pandemic lockdowns last year. Your reactions (and your emotions), your understanding of music and your ability to share your wisdom is on the same level Nightwish's music and Floor's voice are. Thank you!!!
this reaction is one of the very best on YT IMO - and it is focused on one of the very best songs IMO. Thanks - i have listen to that song more thand hundred times - and get emotional everytime.
dude you were very professional by showing emotion.thats the reason your my favorite reactor because you will let us in to how the song is affecting your emotions.i really hope you can listen to this song in the future because i believe we have to be reminded every once in a while.ROCK ON
My favorite reactors are those who actually feel something during the song and let it show. There are few of them ❤️ but most seems to passing through songs...
Emppu just makes that guitar sing so beautifully. I also think he has a style like a metal Gilmour. So tasteful and no ego on display. You said it, This is a hypothetical situation being played out in this song. This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas' inner child speaking. When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..." Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. The swan is the guide to the afterlife in Finnish mythology. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with them to the other side. A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny. We are not trying to GET you Eric. We are simply searching for intelligent and passionate music lovers willing to share their comments and emotions with all of us. Trust me, we are all shedding some tears with you and for the memory of your beloved wife. She is smiling down on you right now and feeling the deep and passionate love you hold in your heart for her. Still! 💞 I think we can all see very clearly that you Eric, are A Good Man! 🙏🙏🙏🎤💎 As well as the Best Reactor/Radio Entertainer on YT. Hands down. 🥂
Sometimes I feel Tuomas is too powerful in music. And after Floor join nightwish nobody can stop this guy. His music is shaking your soul which is numbed by daily live.
Never ever apologize for getting emotionel listening to music. That shows how much love the band/artist put in to the song. Nightwish - Has made grown men and women cry since 1996
Eric, i cry maybe all Nightwish songs… ❤ We are man human being…❤ It hit, i lost my father… and this song hit ❤ I have a two kids… my golds ❤❤❤ my heritage… Love Eric…
This song made me cry 20 years ago when Tarja did it when I was still In my early 20's. It was my first experience crying to a song, without exactly knowing why. It still makes me cry now with Floor singing it, only now I know exactly why. 20 extra years of living, people dying around you and having a family does that to you.
It tells volumes about this song that Emppu looks like his going to break to tears when he finishes his solo. Emppu is a guy who's able to smile widely to fans when playing the bloody Poet and the Pendulum. Who's normally on stage as joyful and cheery as a person can be.
Hugs from Canada Sir. I hope NW can help be a balm to your sorrow. Your wife was a lucky woman to be loved so fiercely, and for sure, she would want you to be comforted. We all understand. Gets me everytime too - must have watched this 200 times. Genius, beautiful, haunting, perfect. We did warn you at the start of this journey they would surprise and move you. Incredible band.
Sitting in front of a fireplace in cold north of Finland, listening to this hits you Hard. It hits you because everyone can somehow relate to those words and emotions Tuomas created back then. But it also hits you because the entire Europe is now watching Ukraine burn. Ukraine, that is attacked by our neighbour, Russia. Russia, that has 800 mile long border with us. We are now living in a dark, dangerous place where boys will die before even having a chance to grow up. Puts things into a perspective.
Oh good - top 5. Glass of wine, darkened room... One of the very few songs Emppu does not smile in. His tone is superb, I agree. He uses palm muting to maintain it but that 20+ year old ESP EV-1 is amazing. No wonder he still uses it. Please don't say sorry for your reaction to this, it really is an emotional one.
Emppu's face was also very full of emotion during that guitar solo. He looked like he was barely holding it together. Whatever specific experience he thinks of when he plays it, you can tell it hits him hard.
Thank you Eric for calling us assholes. For me this is a compliment. I lost my brother and parents and this song emotionaly breaks me too. Greetings from the Netherlands
It was wonderful sharing this reaction with you because we all seem to find a way to personalize Dead Boy's Poem. I cried like a baby when I first watched this performance of the song. Floor's interpretation of it is truly special. Nightwish not only found a great vocalist but an empath capable of channeling Tuomas' emotions. I can't say enough about this amazing band. Thanks!
Another commenter said that they are like gods... with instruments. Tuomas lays bare his heart and soul in this masterpiece, and it is sung by by one of the world's foremost empaths. Most reactors don't even hear the half of this work of art. There is so much here. No one else writes and performs like this. No one. Tuomas soars above the rest. I'm back with more since you get this at such deep, gut level. There is so much genius in this work that it is difficult to know where to begin. Everything, from the stage set to the lyrics to the music itself has a purpose. Floor's heart-rendingly beautiful performance is beyond comparison - only she could deliver the emotional truth of this work. There is so much more here to understand. Note the swans in the background - these are the swans of Tuonela, said in Finnish mythology to be the conveyors of souls to the afterlife. Note how the boy has his arms raised in the hope and the longing of embracing that journey, yet - there he remains. It's worth a listen to Sibelius' The Swan of Tuonela to see where part of Tuomas ' inspiration came from. Here's Herbert von Karajan and the Berliner Philharmoniker: ruclips.net/video/HjyLWoJvtME/видео.html. Exquisite. Emppu's ravishingly beautiful solo is David Gilmour class in the way it conveys the sadness, the anguish of a soul who has been left behind in a lonely and forsaken world. It's a cry of anguish, reinforced by the funereal march of the music behind and complementing the solo. You'll hear that same sort of expression in David Gilmour's last solo of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. I always felt that towards the end, it became the funeral march of a lost and tormented soul. All of the anguish and regret of something glimpsed and lost is distilled and channeled into one extended searing cry. So it is with Emppu's solo, yet it is so deftly and effortlessly woven into this masterpiece of Tuomas' that you don't quite realize what it's doing to you. Note that there is none of Emppu's usual smirking or goofing around in this one. He is dead serious (excuse the pun) and it shows in his expression. So much so that he has to turn away from the audience when he is done. And then there's Floor. This is the most emotional performance I have yet seen from her. She feels all of the passion, sorrow, despair, longing and even anger in every note of this epic piece. She becomes the song and then she sings right into your soul and utterly wrecks it. It hits so hard. If this doesn't have tears streaming down your face, then you have no understanding and no soul.
Not quite sure how I missed this one! Eric, you have nothing to apologise for, losing someone so close must be a terrible and heart wrenching thing and I count myself fortunate to not have experienced that sort of loss yet in my life. I think, having watched nearly every reaction you've done so far, your knowledge, your empathy, your enthusiasm....if you bring half as much to your life outside youtube as you do to your reaction videos, I don't think you've got anything to worry about how people will remember your my friend. This reaction was special. If you think this song needs to be in a museum, is a work of art....so does this reaction.
For tears, even man does not need to apologize. Eyes are the windows to the soul. If they are not cleaned from time to time, this also pollutes the soul.
In all my years since the beginning of rock and roll I've never heard a group like this so consistent in there abilities and heart, talent oh my God I'm so glad I found them before I am gone God bless
Beautiful reaction mate, this band have never ceased to tap into our hearts and souls, and the things we thought we kept hidden away the most, they draw from you and seem to embrace you through it. 22 years listening to this band and I still cried with you my friend, keep up the great work.
Empu drips David Gilmour.. Thank you! You are the first person to articulate what i love about Empu's guitar leads. What a nice description. That last line always gets me....And as for you... Preceptive and boom, Subscribed.
I lost my wife and best friend in 2019 and this song hit me the same way as you. I discovered Nightwish after the pandemic and lockdowns hit, I wish I could share this music with her. Love what you do and take care
I AM FEELING YOU MAN. I LOST A DAUGHTER WHEN I WAS JUST A YOUNG MAN AND THAT STILL HURT MORE THAN WHEN MY PARENTS AND MY BROTHER PASSED, I CAN NOT EMAGINE IF MY WIFE OF 48 YRS SHOULD PASS BEFORE ME. HOW DO YOU LIVE MAN. MY DEEPEST HEARTFELT PRAYERS FOR YOU. GOD BLESS AND PEACE!!
Dude, you are a gateway of musical discovery, keep this up man. In my honest opinion America is quite ignorant to the rest of the world's music. You are one of the many conduits that makes powerful music travel to the heart of the most dominant media (country) at the moment. I have had the privilege to watch a bunch of your insightful reactions before and I wish you all of the best luck in the future. Keep doing what you're doing, you walk the walk, and I love it.
I actually thought no one could ever catch up to the artistic level of Pink Floyd. But after listening to 30+ different songs by Nightwish, my thought wrong. Pink Floyd are and always will be the masters of artrock or progressive rock, but in the genre of metal Nightwish is the pinnacle of evolution. Tuomas is a musical genius.
Thank you so much for this one Eric. Talking about emotions, this was legit as hell! I have seen lots of misery during my 45 years of professional life in social psychiatry. Seen all the shit you can think of and even can't imagine. And nothing could touch or hurt me. After losing my best friend, 6 years ago I got stuck in emotions I didn't realise I had them. Weeping for a short time, got an accident with another good friend and got an heart attack. All survived and I just went on. Till I got to know Nightwish because of Floor. And so many times got crushed emotionally, I can't count. This song is a real breaker, Sing what you can't say, and you, I wish I didn't feel for you anymore; emotional breakdown. And please, never apologize for showing emotions. You got crushed when reacted to Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes, but manged to do what you wanted to do, give a honest reaction. Showing emotions is the highest form of honesty. So, stay true to yourself by staying honest. And stay strong Greetings
Nightwish, especially with Floor, has an unmatched ability to bring out my emotions and so I can relate very much to this reaction. Thank you Eric for sharing your thoughts and why it impacted you so strongly. After waiting 3 long years since I discovered the band, I simply can't wait until May when I can finally see Nightwish perform live. I'm gonna have to stuff my pockets with kleenex to attend to all the tears.
“Poet” does this for me! I’ll anxiously await to see you do that one… it’s my soul crusher. This song is BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT! Glad to see your musical experience touch your soul as it does many of us. Have. Good day
It took me MONTHS to be able to be able to listen to this entire song because of the emotions and memories it brought forth. Now it is one of my favorites. Give it some time. Edit: Meadows of Heaven is literally the most emotional song for me by NW. My very close friend just buried her ten year old son after he lost a courageous battle with cancer. That song will forever be "Liam's Song" to me now. One of my Annette favorites.
Emotions are reactions. That band just does it to you, me and many others. They are so good at bringing out or making you think about things in your life. That, like you said, they are nearly perfect in their musicianship and one can tell they all have a connection to the music and its theme (Emppu making sure he hit his mini solo perfectly). I think the fact that they have known each other for so long (some of them) and know just what the song needs is another thing that makes them special. And of course Floor. She exudes empathy. Fantastic song, fantastic reaction. I concur.
I don't know what it is but Floor's voice and the composition of the music hits me everytime. I do love Tarja and Annete, |But it is allmost as if Tuomas knew that someday there would be someone like Floor to sing his emotions and his feelings and his thoughts. Just an opinion of a very humble guy
So sorry about your loss. This is a very sad, but beautiful song. Look how stonefaced the always so cheerful Emppu is when doing his solo. And we all adults have some cracks in the mirror. It's called Life. 👍
Please never ever apologize for your emotional response. It makes us human. I've listened to this song over and over, it's one of the favourites, and tear up every time. We're in this together!
Don’t apologize buddy! The fact that you were able to provide great analysis despite being emotionally touched is a sign of a great professionality IMO! Damn, I went into tears too…Well done man!!
Is it possible to fall in love with a song? This! I'm listening to this song since I was about 16 y/o and as time goes the song grew into this magnificent masterpiece. As you said, it's literally soul-crushing...
Hi Eric, I love your reactions and I'm so pleased that you've found Nightwish. These emotions are so important, we all feel them (and probably try to hide them too often), but Nightwish draw them out to the surface and reveal them to the world. They are truly wonderful and we are lucky to have the messages, the musicianship and the people in this band. You are clearly a good man and that comes across in your reactions. Your genuine emotions are obvious and I, personally, thank you for that.
One of my favourites for sure! a real soulcrusher. This music belongs in a museum.... you are so right. i found this band a few years ago... I listen to them on a daily base. Nightwish with Floor got me through the pandamic for sure! hours and hours of emotion, beauty, goodness. The are so needed in this sometimes harsh world! Eric thank you for your honest feelings!!
You could see the emotion on the face of the guitar player. Unbeatable performance. That wasn't just an actor at the end of Saving Private Ryan, that was Ryan. Music is supposed to make you feel. I'm the same way with the country song "Alyssa Lies", about child abuse.
I agree about Emppu (guitarist). This song seems to also hit him in the feels very hard. Emppu is usually very cheerful on stage and I've only seen this video of the song being played live. Whether it be about Tuomas's reasons for writing the song or something in his own life, he definitely feels it a great deal.
That line "I wish I didn't feel for you anymore" hit me personally as well, Sir. Thanks for your genuine reaction and analysis. God bless and best wishes this 2024.
lyrics "I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you, I'm sorry" Born from silence, silence full of it A perfect concert my best friend So much to live for, so much to die for If only my heart had a home Sing what you can't say Forget what you can't play Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes Walk within my poetry, this dying music - My loveletter to nobody Never sigh for better world It's already composed, played and told Every thought the music I write Everything a wish for the night Wrote for the eclipse, wrote for the virgin Died for the beauty the one in the garden Created a kingdom, reached for the wisdom Failed in becoming a god Never sigh... "If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it Remember only the verse, songmaker's cry the one without tears For I've given this its strength and it has become my only strength. Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality where being wanted became a thrill I never knew The sweet piano writing down my life" "Teach me passion for I fear it's gone Show me love, hold the lorn So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me I'm sorry Time will tell (this bitter farewell) I live no more to shame nor me nor you And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..." A lonely soul An ocean soul
I'll bet this has been said many times... man, if you ever check out The Poet and the Pendulum, you may never recover! This band brings us all 'there'. I'm watching my sister...well, she's dying, and I am helpless. Yet I still love the song. Your emotion is beautiful, and we weep with you. Nightwish is a group activity...we are here.
They got me too! As usual a fantastic reaction! Please don’t stop these Nightwish reactions as you are the only one that breaks it all down with common sense. Well done! 🏴
You said that Empu drippt in so many things, but you..you dripp your absolute Passion for Music. This is why we are here, this is why we can share your Passion. It is magnificent.
My friend, that is the beauty called Nightwish. It's not just a song,a melody. It touches your soul. That is also a reason, why the Nightwish army is so passionate, sometimes to a fault. But we want to everybody to feel the way we feel. This might has broken you today. Nightwish has broken me many times; but they have also built me back up and are a big reason why I'm still here today. Don't ever lose yourself...
As a hi sensitive person herself, Floor is able to translate Tuomas’s music to your senses better than any other singer I know of. As I believe you are also high sensitive, it will get you every time!
I know this hit hard, I think it's time for a story! Storytime from Wacken 2013 to lift your spirits also it's fun to watch them especially Jukka because you can see how much they love playing this song it's something special and it makes your insides soar! It's Toumas paying tribute to the age-old custom of storytelling, a must watch!
I lost my wife also a few tears ago. I understand where you come from. I had planned on living the rest of my life by myself with my small circle of friends. Life had other plans for me though and while not looking for any one else, someone came along and found me. I now have a new wife and a baby boy at lets say a later point in life. I found Nightwish and have became a huge fan. I still cry during some Nightwish songs myself. I will warn you Poet and the Pendulum I have heard many times and still can't make it through it dry eyed. Do you ever forget.... No but you eventually move forward. Keep on keeping on as we say here in Tennessee. Really enjoy your insights and reactions! P.S. a couple more songs to be prepared for are While Your Lips are Still Red and the ending of Greatest Show on Earth.
Well done Eric. Great reaction. You’ve just created quite the contingent of people anticipating your reaction to Poet and the Pendulum, when you’re ready. Keep exploring Nightwish.
Eric, this was such a wonderful, honest and vulnerable reaction.. Watching you react to this reminded me exactly why this song is so dear to me.. Rivers of tears have flowed from my face watching this performance. It´s an honour to watch you reflect upon this song in such openness after your own sorrow you have experienced in your life. I feel you man! You´re such a good guy!!! I mean that.. Thanks so much for this reaction.. means a lot :)
Bro im understand how you feel dont try to fight against your tears i have tears to when im lissen to this song love you bro Nightwish army Holland present
I couldn't have said it any better
♥️
...will i ever get it so short on point?...nope. i babbel on till the end:) great Statement , Lady:)
That makes at least two of us....
And I never saw Emppu looking more serious than in this video.
I always have the chills from the beginning, the first second till the end. It's the only song I have that with.
I could not have said it better Martine! Floor is amazing on this song!
Gabriel mate you need to put more emphasis on the Wembley songs like Shudder and 7 Days, they are too often overlooked 🙏😎
Same here. It starts at 10:10 and 10:21 the tears are always there :-) BTW this particular performance is easily in my top 3 of Nightwish performances / songs.
same here...yep.🥲🥲
Exactly so
Dear Eric, this is the mother of all NW songs.
And that's why I love
Nightwish ❣🎼🎧❤
Especially with Floor ❣
They're not making just music
They creating an adventure or journey through your emotions.
Tuomas is definitely fricking genius and his music IQ is from another planet ❣💞❣🎼🎼
Superb reaction
Take care and stay safe man 🙏👍
I love that you listen to the music with more than just you're ears, Nightwish is a more than just an auditory experience, it's and emotional and mental experience also.
Indeed!!!
I concur 💯. Greetings from the Dutch Nightwish Army East Division 🤘🇳🇱🤘
Precisely
Beautifully said. Nightwish is soulful, so soulful experience if you just let them in... Well they can still come with a rumble in your heart even if you try to fight back :) They are extraordinary.
*Hasn't heard Poet and the Pendulum yet*
"This song completely wrecked my soul"
Oh my sweet summer child lol
Great reaction, I got hit by the "wish I didn't feel for you anymore" line too

Thank you so very much!

If this is requesting The Poet And The Pendulum..."I Concur!"
I think he's ready.
I cuncur
But brace yourself and bring those tissues.
I've seen that performance so many times and everytime my soul try to break out of my body.
I concur. Recommend turning on CC (if you want) rather than the lyrical version - the latter IMO covers up too much.
I always got tears at this song too. Be careful with "Poet". It is the most emotional personal NW song. But now I know you will love it definitely 😊
Exactly, Poet is on another level, especially after knowing the story behind the masterpiece. The album version is powerful. However Floor's ability to cut through any guard, takes it to yet another level.
Yeah, but he should do some research before listening. For more wreckage. :D

Yes he has
Best Nightwish Reaction on RUclips! Iam sitting here crying too, it´s o.k.
Thank you. I almost didn't publish it. I appreciate your kindness and words.
Cheers from Nashville,
Eric
@@TheWyldesidewithEricClark really glad you did post it! I think you..in due time gonna find this song as your ocean soul to your ❤️ of your life
@@TheWyldesidewithEricClark Keep in mind Eric, when you allow us to feel your emotion it validates what each of us are feeling every time we listen to this performance.
Kudos man!
Nightwish and Tuomas lyrics goes right thru your heart
I dont know if i wright it right, my english isn't very good...
This magnificent band of the Gods playing their music combined with the stunning visuals on the stage and behind them is out of this world.
Peace out and be safe.
Hail Nightwish 😇😇😇
Here is a suggestion Floor with her old band Revamp (Disdain )
Clicked the second it came up, Floor's vocals on this wreak me in the best way every time. This is one of my favorite performances of theirs.
The most honest, best Nightwish reaction ever. Came back a year later to say this. Love you Eric!
I think we all need to compose ourselves when this song comes up! It hits me and a lot of people in so many ways.
this reaction is one of the very best on YT IMO - and it is focused on one of the very best songs IMO.
When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..."
Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen.
Still! 💞
I think we can all see very clearly that you Eric, are A Good Man!
Yes - just a simple yes. I 100% agree
Yes, you are so right. And now, he works to Album #10.
I still felt deeply sad for Marko’s out
I had 16 yo when I heard this
It became my tone throughout my life from there…
Never ever apologize for getting emotionel listening to music. That shows how much love the band/artist put in to the song.
Nightwish - Has made grown men and women cry since 1996

OCD Metal!!! What an awesome describtion. I can't hear this song without crying, it is so emotional and deep. Even Emppu is serious.

Everytime I see your reaction... I get tears in my eyes...
This song made me cry 20 years ago when Tarja did it when I was still In my early 20's. It was my first experience crying to a song, without exactly knowing why. It still makes me cry now with Floor singing it, only now I know exactly why.
20 extra years of living, people dying around you and having a family does that to you.
Her stage presence is just a mean bar none she is a goddess, plain and simple
I'm with ya brother, that damn line gets me everytime too
It tells volumes about this song that Emppu looks like his going to break to tears when he finishes his solo.
Puts things into a perspective.
indeed, a horrid world changing catastrophe , and for what? ego?
This one is soo beautiful and a performance done to perfection.
Nightwish's ability to bring out emotions is unmatched.
Nightwish is magic...the rabbit hole ..jamas saldremos.♥️🤘
Melancholy is often the tone of Finnish musical masterpieces. It lives deep in our hearts.
Love when reactors show their emotions and feelings. Because Nightwish makes me feel those things, too. This was special for you. And me. Thank you.
These songs, they break you. But they also put you back together. Heart wrecking and healing at the same time.
Beautiful reaction mate, this band have never ceased to tap into our hearts and souls, and the things we thought we kept hidden away the most, they draw from you and seem to embrace you through it. 22 years listening to this band and I still cried with you my friend, keep up the great work.
Thank you Brother.

I know this is an old video, but I will say really sorry for your loss loss is never easy
I lost my wife and best friend in 2019 and this song hit me the same way as you. I discovered Nightwish after the pandemic and lockdowns hit, I wish I could share this music with her. Love what you do and take care
Nightwish is amazing. Tuomas such a great composer. Musically and lyrically. The band together is just amazing. I send you a big hug 🤗
I've watched at least 100 times and still cannot get thru it without crying. I'm 63 but as you said Floor's voice cuts through anything!
Great personal reaction....I lost my wife 3 and a half year ago, and I tear up every time I hear it....it's so emotional and I love it...

2am in Paris while watching your reaction, so powerful. You make me cry Eric. Thank for all your reactions. Nightwish army !!!
Your eloquence. Your true emotional commentary touches my heart. Thank you.
That is the point of beautiful music, to touch your soul!🤘🎸
And stay strong
Greetings
Nightwish, especially with Floor, has an unmatched ability to bring out my emotions and so I can relate very much to this reaction. Thank you Eric for sharing your thoughts and why it impacted you so strongly. After waiting 3 long years since I discovered the band, I simply can't wait until May when I can finally see Nightwish perform live. I'm gonna have to stuff my pockets with kleenex to attend to all the tears.
Tears are a natural accompaniment to this song. "I'm sorry." It rips into my soul.
“Poet” does this for me! I’ll anxiously await to see you do that one… it’s my soul crusher. This song is BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT! Glad to see your musical experience touch your soul as it does many of us. Have. Good day
If Nightwish play music, its magic and if Floor sings, Stonehenge must cry.
God bless you and may your beloved wife be embraced by the arms of our Father God. Beautiful reaction as always, Mr. Clark! Thank you.
I am so sorry for the pain you are feeling. I am so glad you have found Nightwish. They are sweet catharsis for the broken and hurting.
Nightwish has an ability to heal the most broken soul...
This performance reduces me to tears every time, ...... and I've heard it a hundred times.
This one just reaches in and grabs your soul! That’s why I never requested it but I’m glad you got to see it (even if only once) ✌️
Would recommend Nightwish-while your lips are still red, live at Wembley 🤩 Also a beautiful and emotional performance 🤗
That one will probably break him too.
I concur, it is a beautiful soft song with Marco in the lead, but it may hit emotionally hard as well.
I concur100%
Thanks for this one. It's one of my (many) favorites. The song is at once emotionally stunning and grand and Floor is - a Goddess.
lyrics
"I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you, I'm sorry"
Born from silence, silence full of it
A perfect concert my best friend
So much to live for, so much to die for
If only my heart had a home
Sing what you can't say
Forget what you can't play
Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes
Walk within my poetry, this dying music
- My loveletter to nobody
Never sigh for better world
It's already composed, played and told
Every thought the music I write
Everything a wish for the night
Wrote for the eclipse, wrote for the virgin
Died for the beauty the one in the garden
Created a kingdom, reached for the wisdom
Failed in becoming a god
Never sigh...
"If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse, songmaker's cry the one without tears
For I've given this its strength and it has become my only strength.
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"
"Teach me passion for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I'm sorry
Time will tell (this bitter farewell)
I live no more to shame nor me nor you
And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..."
A lonely soul
An ocean soul
I am HSP as well so I feel the song from start to finish not many bands make me cry as much as Nightwish does - true masters of the ninja onions!
Teach me passion, for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I'm sorry
