Great reaction. One of my top 5 Nightwish songs. Great job on picking up on the emotion. One of the more personal songs for Tuomas and the fans. An old song written by Tuomas when he was young. Inspired by the question what would you say if you knew you were going to die tomorrow. Tuomas has said this song was a way of thanking all those who deserve his thanks and a piss off to all those who deserve it as well. Tuomas often uses the dead boy as a symbol of the loss of childhood innocence and imagination that we experience as we grow into adulthood. When you hear dead boy or poet in his lyrics he is usually referring to himself. He also has a strong connection to the ocean and see's it as a place of peace and tranquility. A refugee from the modern world. So in this song Tuomas is saying that he no longer lives for himself or his friends but only for the music. He puts all his feelings into the music and his music is what gives his life meaning. He tries to make his life better but can never get back to the innocence of his youth. He wants to be loved but can't connect with people. He asks that they remember his music, not him, after he is gone. Thus a lonely soul, an ocean soul. Note that on the video wall behind the band the boy is holding up his arms to several swans. In Finnish mythology swans are the creatures that guide your soul to the afterlife.

I love seeing young people from the USA getting into Nightwish. I have 5 Nightwish concert DVDs, including this Argentina show. This rendition of DBP is one of the best performances you will find anywhere. And you are correct to pick-up on the emotion of this song. As many others have mentioned below, yes they are still active. In fact, they're at the finishing stages of creating their 10th album. Long live Tuomas and long live the Queen.
Nightwish is still kicking hard on Live stage !!!! The latest was two days ago in Sweden. Soon they Start Recording new material (10th Nightwish album). Floor is expecting her second child, and Big baby bump doesn't stop her Rocking and Windmilling!!! On March 24, 2023 Floor released her first Solo Album called "Paragon". Between Nightwish and her Solo career, Nightwish comes first (Floor's own words!). On April 29, 2023 Floor opened for Metallica. You are correct, Emppu’s guitar solo…the expression on his face when he finishes…not his usual smiling, happy visage. Maybe that demonstrates the power of this song….it even got to him. Marko's instrument is called "The Beast". The top neck is a 4 string bass guitar, and the bottom one is a 6 string electric guitar. For Tuomas himself this song means a lot. He has said that this is the “mother of all Nightwish songs, about himself and how he wants people to remember him as when he passes away. He said ”This is the most personal song I’ve ever written. My testimony for the whole world. With this song I want to apologise everyone who deserves my apology. It also makes an “I don’t care” -statement to them who deserve it. The song is also about what Nightwish means and has meant to me. It’s all, without it I’m dead. I have created it and it has created me. The fact that Floor decided to sing the high notes at the end and not use belting, hit me 10x harder than if she just did what all other singers would have done. Also, one of Nightwish's masterpieces and one of the most personal songs of Tuomas Holopainen (the keyboardist and songwriter). He wrote the song (centered around his poem) as a eulogy to express his feelings to those left behind after his death.
@@monicacarolina6480 Yes people make this mistake again and again, belting high notes, especially long notes is more difficult.Floor does a very high and long head voice note (wich i know of,but i'm no expert) in "Devil & the deep dark ocean", and you can see that that is even easy for her.
Love this performance. It is a personal composition from Tuomas, but not a suicide note, more of a self eulogy. Inspired by the question, “if you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you have to say today?” Tuomas answers in poetic verse from his persona of a misunderstood, innocent boy. It is probably my favorite Emppu solo. It hits me like it did you. He is a master of playing exactly what fits the song, and nailed the emotion perfectly here. Keep exploring Nightwish LJ!
Yes, Nightwish is still a band 😊They are getting ready to release a new album, which Floor has said "is going to be pretty heavy". Knowing Floor's taste in music "pretty heavy" means it will probably create sonic black holes...
You can see Floor's hair blowing b/c there's a fan on the floor in front of her so her makeup doesn't run. NW just had a concert last night or the night before. Floor was the frontwoman as usual. She is VERY pregnant now!
If this one broke your heart., "The Poet and the Pendulum"" will shatter your mind....Nightwish is still quite active but will be taking a break soon....Floor's having another baby and they have been hustling since the shut down ended. New album is planned for next year. I believe its written already but dont know if they started recording yet. Grteat reaction from the gut!
Those last two parts. You hear her go for the lower part, which is great. And then the second she starts the second part it's 3 octaves higher and you're like no fucking way is she gonna do this. But you know she will because of course it's Floor and then she kills it and you're blown away anyway.
Great reaction - very insightful once again! This is my second favourite DVD concert - I would like to recommend _The_ _Devil_ _and_ _the_ _Deep_ _Dark_ _Ocean_ from it next, for some great theatrics. Enjoy!
Yes they released the ninth double album Human II Nature just before Covid lockdown so couldn't tour until relatively recently. They first performed two virtual shows to 150,000 fans. Live concerts started in 2022 with some on USA. Then during a gap in concerts Floor had an operation for breast cancer then back performing. She discovered that she pregnant but has continued touring. There are recent videos of her still rocking and windmilling though pretty heavily pregnant I believe currently in Greece. Also during that time she has released solo songs and an album called Paragon. And a new Nightwish album on the way.
Hahaha.....tonight they play in Athens with a high pregnant GODDESS. This is one of the songs where you should know the background first...... This song is perfect, it belongs into a museum. Tuomas: This song is Nightwish.
Nightwish just finished their "Human :||: Nature" tour which was postponed due to Covid pandemic. They recently announced that now they won't tour for a while (I'm not sure for how long, but I guess it will be something like 1-2 years). Their latest album "Human :||: Nature" was released in 2020, the have already composed the whole new album and they will start record it very soon - it should be released in 2024 (I guess Tuomas said).
And I wanted to add. 90% of the songs that you would like backstage. There are Songs that I like more than they were in the reaction. She is the third vacolist, she is cool, some songs were not recorded under her voice, but still very impressive! The best songs are just waiting for you. I hardly listen to any bands, but Nightwish, they are one of the most selected, the best, although I am not a Metalist, but a music lover and I listen to different music. and I rarely like metal bands. I don't even listen to Ramstein, because of their attitude - vulgarity ... Thank you, I hope you will see the world more deeply with this magical music) @@lillyjanereacts
They were here in Sweden three days ago. So they are still playing. But they will take a break soon and no one knows for how long. They will record a new album soon also.
i was at their show last december in Milan - italy, so yes they are still making music and tour, next year will be out a new album, but sadly there will not be a tour afterwards, probably they want to do something different this time.
@@lillyjanereacts It's like you see in the live videos, they are really good, the music the stage, the lights are top notch, you can see that they really enjoy playing together, Emppu is very funny and He likes to interact with the audience (i don't know how many guitar pick he throws to the crowd every time). I my music collection i listen only to the Live version s of the songs , i think they are much better than the studio versions. You never get disappointed by their shows.
Nightwish is still VERY active. Saw them live 3 monts ago in Amsterdam :D Floor (singer) is 7 months pregnant now from her 2nd child, but they toured this week in Sweden. They even toured in CHina and Japan. So yes....very active.
Your observation of the heaviness of the song and guitar solo is perceptive. This is probably the only song Emppu does not smile. It is a deeply personal song about Tuomas and death. Emppu feels it and is so stoic after his solo it stands out for the usual happiest guy on stage. Another less watched song is Sahara. Great song.
Tomorrow ( for you) they play in Athens, Greece, then moving to Austria. I will see them at the 12. in Germany. 3 more Concerts in June, 2 in Finnland and 1 in Norway. Not sure if any other gigs will be played later. Floor has also done her Solo Tour, have seen her in Zurich a month ago. But she needs to rest now, already pregnant. They have announced no tour for 2024 but a new Album is in the making. So be prepared to see them in 2025.
@@Honken55 WE DON't KNOW.People speculate over this, wich,to a degree is understandable because Nightwish doesn't give a explicit reason WHY? Great reaction Lily... one recommendation ,,, you will be Blown away check the beste zangers with floor jansen all songs she did in the show are just AMAZING...
Absolutely a band in action. I went to Stockholm last Saturday to see them live. Absolutely amazing! They are going on a hiatus after the few shows left of their Human Nature World Tour that ends in a couple of weeks. They will then concentrate on writing and recording the next album, due to be release in late 2024.
I know for a fact, this is one of Tuomas own personal favorites, at least one of them..Nightwish will release a new album in 2024, and its the last of a trilogy starting with Endless forms most beautiful, 2nd was Human Nature, and the upcoming album should kind of end the journey of those storylines in these 3 albums, however they annouced they will NOT tour this upcoming album, i guess that mean they still could do some festivals, and stuff like that, but no world tour..
Nightwish is wrapping up their Human-Nature tour in about a week. They will start recording a new album at some point and Floor is having a baby as well. They have no future dates set, but when things settle down with the baby and they have a new album in books, I'm sure they will be touring again. It just might be 2025...
You obviously haven't done Poet and the Pendulum yet, Lilly. If you learn the story of that song prior to reacting, I suggest a box of tissues nearby. Just sayin'. Great reaction 🤘😎🤘
Emppu always jokes around and smiles. He doesn't here. They released albums in 2015 and 2020. Their next is written, just to record late this year. Floor is about to pop right now with baby! She has a daughter already. They toured up until last month. Watch hellfest 2022 in Paris.
You can never go wrong with any Nightwish song. All of them are good, but you have to find the one where floor is kind of doing backing vocals doing the middle ground that’s freaking awesome.
Word you are looking for is melancholy - it's sad but also very beautiful. Finns have been making music based on this one word and description for decades, due to the long dark winter. If you're going to make a melancholic song, the musicians have to have a lot of class.
Nightwish is an active band. At the moment they are playing the last shows of their Human II Nature tour. In summer they will record a new album which will be the 3rd part of a thematic triology (Endless Forms most beautiful, Human II Nature, ????) This album will probably be released in the beginning of mid 2024. However, there will be no tour for at least this album, but Nightwish says goodbye to live performances after the last shows this month until further notice. According to Nightwish for an indefinite period. But you also have to say that Nightwish has always taken a break after a world tour so far and Tuomas then started writing new music for Nightwish at some point. So the upcoming album was actually written "unplanned" because of the pandemic and without the pandemic Tuomas probably wouldn't have even started with it. In fact, I don't expect Nightwish to resume live performances until around 2026/27 or even 2028 for the band's 30th anniversary. (Possibly another 30th anniversary album with a post-release tour, or even just a 30th anniversary Nightwish tour).
About a week…I visit Kitee ( Finland) for one of the last concerts of Nightwish, called ‘ The Human Nature tour where they. playing songs from their latest fantastic album Human Nature. The song 'Shoemaker' is my favorite. Are there more people going to this concert? I have to go back to a hotel in Joensuu afterwards but there are no buses😊
Nightwish is still making music, but considering they've been around for ruffly 30 years they're going to slow down. You should give SLEEPING SUNS a listen, Originally done by Tarja but Floor did do a version too.
Nightwish just finished touring in Europe, and actually cancelled a concert because of Floor being about 7 months pregnant with her second child! Nightwish also had tour dates here in the USA...late last year or early this year...as I know another YT Content Creator had VIP Tickets and got to sit in with a Question and Answer session with the band.
About Nightwish...they are still alive and kicking, though not without some struggles. Marko left to fix his personal demons, Floor got cancer, recovered and got pregnant, Tuomas lost his father....and there were 2 years when nothing happened, globally, anywhere, at all (don't remember why) The result is that the tour for the album "Human II Nature" (2020) got postponed for 2 years and started in 2022 and is still ongoing. As a result there are currently 2 albums worth of songwriting on the shelf. They will record the next album (3/3 of the nature theme) after their Human II Nature-tour is finished. it will be released in 2024. However since there is another album on the shelf, they will not tour, but immediately continue to record the next album. With any luck that will be out by the end of 2025....and then they will tour again! Hope the new bassist Jukka will show us his vocal skills on the new albums. On the current tour he did not sing Marko's parts. I guess that would be setting him up for failure, because those are big shoes to fill....
Where you read that? Sounds to me like they are taking a longer break. And if they gonna record a second album straight after why is Floor angry that they will stop touring?
A fan video from three days ago: ruclips.net/video/zKnL84Ifszc/видео.html Yup, they're still out there performing with a very pregnant Floor leading the charge.
Nightwish are just about to start recording their new album. At least the parts they can until Floor is well enough to contribute. She is taking time off from live performances to concentrate on her health, as she is well advanced in her pregnancy.
Nightwish are finishing up a World tour (since 2022) this month in Europe in 2023... last show is a homecoming show in Finland, June 16. Nightwish released their most recent album 'Human Nature' in 2020... Tuomas said he wrote a new album during the pandemic break. A DVD of a virtual performance is out now... Unfortunately, bassist/ vocalist Marco Hietala had left the band and bassist Jukka Koskinen has replaced him. Tuomas (keyboards) said the band has been recording a new album and will be releasing it soon... but Nightwish will be taking a break from touring for a while. All members have solo projects in the works... Floor Jansen was treated for breast cancer (she declared she is "cancer free" in 2022), and said she is expecting her 2nd child w/ her husband (Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl) this year... Her solo album 'Paragon' is out now and she opened a show for Metallica in Europe in 2023.
Nighwish are readying release of their next album now. Because COVID-19 delayed the tour for the previous album quite a lot they are not touring this album at least not right away. Floor's second pregnancy short of cut short the tour last summer and I'm guessing she's now busy with the kids, too.
They are still much active. The thing is they said they would not tour the next album, I think they are all very tired and Floor not only beaten a breast cancer recently, she is pregnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant :D again

Remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse
Songmaker's cry, the one without tears
For I've given this its strength
And it has become my only strength
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life
Teach me passion, for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I'm sorry
Time will tell, this bitter farewell
I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you
And you
I wish I didn't feel for you anymore
A lonely soul
An ocean soul

You are correct, Emppu’s guitar solo…the expression on his face when he finishes…not his usual smiling, happy visage. Maybe that demonstrates the power of this song….it even got to him.
Marko's instrument is called "The Beast". The top neck is a 4 string bass guitar, and the bottom one is a 6 string electric guitar.
For Tuomas himself this song means a lot.
He has said that this is the “mother of all Nightwish songs, about himself and how he wants people to remember him as when he passes away.
He said
”This is the most personal song I’ve ever written. My testimony for the whole world. With this song I want to apologise everyone who deserves my apology. It also makes an “I don’t care” -statement to them who deserve it. The song is also about what Nightwish means and has meant to me. It’s all, without it I’m dead. I have created it and it has created me.
When I pass away, this song’s lyrics are of what I wish to be remembered. An Ocean Soul.”
Here are the words read by the boy;
I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you
I'm sorry
If you read this line
Remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse
Songmaker's cry, the one without tears
For I've given this its strength
And it has become my only strength
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life
Teach me passion, for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I'm sorry
Time will tell, this bitter farewell
I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you
And you
I wish I didn't feel for you anymore
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
Time will tell
NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
I'm so glad I started to listen to this band year and this song is so raw, powerful and emotional 🖤🤘
The fact that Floor decided to sing the high notes at the end and not use belting, hit me 10x harder than if she just did what all other singers would have done.
Also, one of Nightwish's masterpieces and one of the most personal songs of Tuomas Holopainen (the keyboardist and songwriter). He wrote the song (centered around his poem) as a eulogy to express his feelings to those left behind after his death.
that was pure belting, the high notes at the end. And belting high notes is WAY HARDER than use headvoice. She belts out like no other singer.
@@monicacarolina6480 Yes people make this mistake again and again, belting high notes, especially long notes is more difficult.Floor does a very high and long head voice note (wich i know of,but i'm no expert) in "Devil & the deep dark ocean", and you can see that that is even easy for her.
Interesting as he does seem to write songs about his own death.
He makes that guitar sing! So beautiful ❤
Hi beautiful reaction, Nightwish are still composing and playing their new songs so you have to look at 2022 and 2023 greetings from Poland
I totally second your comment on the solo! Emppu even looks like he was playing it at Tuomas' funeral.
Yes, Nightwish is still a band 😊They are getting ready to release a new album, which Floor has said "is going to be pretty heavy". Knowing Floor's taste in music "pretty heavy" means it will probably create sonic black holes...
Yep Duskwind, i agree (Thinking to ReVamp 🤗🤘)
yes, they are active... will see thwm on Saturday, Monday and twice next week (their last shows before the break)
this is the only song, where I see Emppu close to tears, and not his usual joking self.
I've heard this song 50 times still gives me chills the solo was singing floors part very cool need More
I just have been to their show in December or 2022 in Vienna... So yes they are still touring. The last album is amazing !!!
Considering that Floor just survived cancer and is pregnate right after that. Its kind of amazing that they are touring now
2020 release : Human//Nature, many recent concerts, world tours, 3rd studio release with Floor in the works,
I'd love some reactions to tarja, she was part of the best era of nightwish in my opinion. Their first 5 albums are amazing. Love the reactions!
I saw them in Stockholm Sweden last Saturday! Great consert!
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 well done girl again
Thank you!!
It is in fact an Eulogy for Tuomas's inner child, the death of innocence as one grows up
Those last two parts.
Enjoy!
Yes, one of the best songs from the Buenos Aires show.
Emppu solo is the only guitar solo that has made me cry so I got what you where feeling God bless
If you love this song, you might also enjoy Sleeping Sun, and While Your Lips are Still Red.
Yes both of those songs are bitter sweet.
If your in the front there are 82,000 others behind you! Great reaction!🎸🤘
It does always make me think of my friend's suicide note. When the spoken voice says "I'm sorry" my heart aches
Fun fact: I looked up "Floorgasm" in the dictionary, and it gave me a link to this video. 🤔
I will be watching Nightwish very much live in Athens tonight
Aaa, one of the Epics ❤❤
Brano Meraviglioso. Beautiful Song
Seeing them in 10 days. 🤘🏼😎
Oh yeah, I am excited to check out their new music when it comes out!!
🙏@@lillyjanereacts
It took me some time to listen to this song. Trigger to my tragedy of losing a daughter of 29 years to suicide. Great song. Tugging the heart.
What was it like seeing them live? I bet it was one of the best concerts ever.
Sound like its gonna be a longer break....
@@Honken55 WE DON't KNOW.People speculate over this, wich,to a degree is understandable because Nightwish doesn't give a explicit reason WHY?
I only can say,it can be multiple things; Personel time?,the problems in the world ?,music industry problems?, Sicknes?, Induvidual projects?................. Whatever it is,we have to wait it out and hope for the best.
Great reaction Lily... one recommendation ,,, you will be Blown away check the beste zangers with floor jansen all songs she did in the show are just AMAZING...
Lilly, hi I am George from Athens, Greece. Tonight, June 7th Nightwish are having a live here in Athens and I will be there :)
Yeah, they are still perfoming, I'm going to their concert next saturday
they are still making music, they don't release albums as regularly as some other bands, but they are working on one right now.
Great Pick💞🤘
Absolutely a band in action. I went to Stockholm last Saturday to see them live. Absolutely amazing! They are going on a hiatus after the few shows left of their Human Nature World Tour that ends in a couple of weeks. They will then concentrate on writing and recording the next album, due to be release in late 2024.
Heck yeah, good to know they are still touring and making music!!
And also Floor is pregnant from her second child.
Perhaps even some virtual concerts? 😁
Saw them in Antwerp and Amsterdam a few months ago✅❤️
Very nice. Thanks a lot 👍
Goddes Floor has pulled you in and you are now part of our army.
Great reaction
🤘😎🤘
Song gives me the chills
New Nightwish album is coming. They start rehearsing in July 2023 and its out 2024.
Emppu always jokes around and smiles. He doesn't here. They released albums in 2015 and 2020. Their next is written, just to record late this year. Floor is about to pop right now with baby! She has a daughter already. They toured up until last month. Watch hellfest 2022 in Paris.
My favorite
You can never go wrong with any Nightwish song. All of them are good, but you have to find the one where floor is kind of doing backing vocals doing the middle ground that’s freaking awesome.
Word you are looking for is melancholy - it's sad but also very beautiful. Finns have been making music based on this one word and description for decades, due to the long dark winter. If you're going to make a melancholic song, the musicians have to have a lot of class.
Thank you!! That is the perfect word to describe it as!!
Tuomas (Keyboards) wrote this when he was very young its his eulogy in a song form
Thanks
Hey! Their next gig in Finland is next weeks Friday in Kitee (I have a silver ticket
Floor is everything!
Human and nature is their latest and I think the best album
About Nightwish...they are still alive and kicking, though not without some struggles. Marko left to fix his personal demons, Floor got cancer, recovered and got pregnant, Tuomas lost his father....and there were 2 years when nothing happened, globally, anywhere, at all (don't remember why)
The result is that the tour for the album "Human II Nature" (2020) got postponed for 2 years and started in 2022 and is still ongoing.
@@Honken55 I could return that question. Where did you read that?
I saw an interview with Tuomas...I'll try to find it and link it here.
A fan video from three days ago: ruclips.net/video/zKnL84Ifszc/видео.html Yup, they're still out there performing with a very pregnant Floor leading the charge.
i jus love spendn time together with you Lilly jane
Hi Lily Jane ! Answering your question : look at Hellfest 2022 : Nightwish at their best !
Good one.
Nightwish is still a band and yes they still tour, however, Marco left the band last year.
Haha, l'll see them live next Friday at Kitee, Finland. Floor is now about 7 months of pregnant. ⛄❄👍
After Kitee (June 16th) they play in Vaasa the next day and their LAST show will be in Oslo (June 22nd). 😉😋😎
Here is a fan made clip from only 3 days ago with Nightwish on stage with Floor still performing at 6 or 7 months pregnant with her second child with her husband Hannes Van Dahl, the drummer from Sabaton - the drums from Music and the song Noise was the opening number ruclips.net/video/czBdG6Tg8mI/видео.html
YOU DON’T FIND THAT IN THE STATES . PURE EMOTION.
We all love Wacken but for me Buenos Aires 2018 creams it. Are Nightwish still making music? Are you having a laugh!!!
Nightwish played in Greece yesterday, but going to have a bit of a break soon as Floor is getting closer to giving birth to her second child. Want more emotion and another different feel? Try “Kiss, While Your Lips are Still Red” live version is better!
Nightwish is still very active. I saw a very pregnant Floor with the band in Stockholm last saturday. In old Finnish folklore the swan is the one who takes the living to the other side. Can you se the boys longing to join them. Everything has a meaning in theri songs.
