People give Troy a hard time about his vocals, mostly because he isn't Marco, but for songs like this they are perfect. Then he's probably the one playing the whistle at the end as well as playing almost everything else as needed. I love this song. One of Tuomas's finest compositions, imo. Stunning, achingly beautiful and haunting. This is gonna be a show stopper live. I strongly suspect Floor will love performing this one.
It must have been so difficult to pick which tracks to release early as singles. The whole album, we were waiting for Floor to go stratospheric, then this happens.
Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad I guess.
Hey Amie, Lady you just made me Cry Again with your wonderful review, Thank You. Just to let you know Just in case you do not, Tuomas, The Keyboard Player, and band leaded of Nightwish, wrote this song for his father, who passed away 2 years ago, and it was the very first song that Tuomas wrote for the new Album, and he also played the Piano for this song himself when it was recorded. Also Floor, and Tuomas, and the crew booked 2 weeks with Floor at her home studio in Sweden, to record the Vocals for the new Album. Floor Had only just had her second Child Lucy 6 weeks before they came to record the Album, But Floor being Floor, She got on with it, and they recorded the whole Album in Just 6 Days, Wow. Thank You
Welcome back Amie! No doubt you'll react to the different tracks in whichever oreder you wish, but once you have, you'll need to sit quietly with headphones on and listen to the whole album, start to finish to get the full effect of this masterpiece. Nice reaction again too.
I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I understand the loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. Her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.
Welcome back and enjoying the new album. Personally, I think this is the most well written album NW ever done. It's a masterpiece in my mind. This song is an absolute masterpiece by itself.
The genius of Thuomas is that he writes to the strengths of the people in the band. Troy may not have the power and grit of Marco but he has a beautiful melodic voice and it is used to brilliant effect in this song.
Lovely reaction! Final song from the final album of the trilogy. It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. Loads of beautiful imagery in the lyrics of seeing the end, of reminding those we love that we will always be present, of lamenting the unfinished things we leave behind (as is always the case), and then walking "to the trees". Since Tuomas is famous for writing lyrics for multiple interpretations I could also see this song where the narrator is death personified, much like the way the lyrics in Music were. A third way I see it is that the lyrics aren't necessarily about a person but are instead a metaphor for humanity and our walk through the eons of our existence which would fit well with the themes of the album trilogy. A number of references to Auri and other Nightwish songs. "I am in the light and flood" and " I am in the four winds" IMO are shout outs to the Auri songs Light and Flood and The Name of the Wind, very beautiful instrumental that have a similar feel. For me the line "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me Decades in the Sun vibes and of course "To the meadows I go" is tapping into the same symbolism and meaning as Meadows of Heaven. Heartachingly beautiful song and a perfect bookend to the album and trilogy. The song is a beautiful tribute to Tuomas's father who passed in 2021 and the first song written for the album. A celebration of all who are the lantern light for our journey through life. I agree with Tuomas, if we have lived a life of joy and meaning then we shouldn't be sad at the end but celebrate a life well lived. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass. Since you like this song so much you should checkout Tuomas, Troy, and Tuomas's wife Johanna Kurkela's project Auri. Beautiful atmospheric folky music similar to this song. Some of may favorites are Desert Flower, The Space Between, and The Valley.

Hello again Amiekinz4ever. Another wonderful reaction to our beloved Nightwish. This is the last song on this incredible album, which is amazing from start to finish. You have a lot to look forward to on this one. Thank you.
Gone is the hurt, the wait, gone is the warmth of day. A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved, on into a velvety night, beneath a lanternlight. I'm in the light and flood, I'm in the four winds, I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems, I am the snow on your palm.
