Thomas wrote this for his father who passed away in 2021. He said it is a love song for him because he had a full and beautiful life. It's actually the first song he wrote for the album but it's the last song on the album. Floor cried and had to stop several times while recording the song. She had given birth to little Lucy six weeks earlier and said in an interview that as a woman you are full of hormones and sensitivity. The whole band was emotional. there are many videos of the making of the album too. thanks for great reaction, greetings from the Netherlands
What a beautiful song and clip. As I said before - I like this side of Floor: gentle power. It is heartbreaking poetry, full of metaphor. It is beautiful sadness dedicated to all the loved ones who have left us forever. I thought about my son the whole time.
Tuoamas composed it for his father who passed away some time ago . Troy is the male voice, Tuomas plays the piano and is the composer. yes Floor is sobbing.
Floor's voice is the most beautiful and moving (not to mention versatile) I have ever heard; she always directly touches my soul. This song is my favourite of the new album. Floor said in an interview that it had been the hardest for her to record: Every time she started singing she burst out in tears because the lyrics moved her so much. She is an empath who deeply feels what she is singing. Gone is the hurt, the wait, gone is the warmth of day. A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved, on into a velvety night, beneath a lanternlight. Last night brought the heaviest of snows melting the songs of old, tying the boat, write a new one soon, sending me to the drowning moon, far above a lanternlight. I'm in the light and flood, I'm in the four winds, I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems, I am the snow on your palm. I am the secret stream, moss beneath your feet, I am you who climbed off of my back not long ago, a sheltered song in a world now gone, petrichor, the timeless. Turn loose the swaying boat, meltwater, sound of spring. I hear our song now, sung by the free, for a thousand more tomorrows of an incomplete weave. To the meadows I go, I’ll be waiting for you once upon a lanternlight. I walk now toward the trees, I am the secret stream, the night falling at my feet into the forest of Yesterwynde.
Nightwish does softer music every now and then. That was Troy Donockley. He is the British multi-instrumentalist in Nightwish. Welcome back Viking Zeus!
Yes, she can throw your quite quistionable "deity" to the gutter anyday. This ballad is a Masterpece of Art, as you noticed it. The male voice is Troy Donocley, the multi-instrumentalist for Nightwish.
Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad I guess.
Floor did all the vocals for this album in 6 days, while Tuomas had reserved 14 days. She recorded the vocals in her home studio, 6 weeks after giving birth to her second daughter Lucy, the band came to her home in Sweden as she was not fit to travel although here voice was exceptional good as you could hear. She very recently stated that she felt better singing in the lower registers after giving birth. Valkyrie vibes 🙂. The movie scenes in the background are to support that feeling of times that are not long ago but seem to be from another world. Some shots show her with two faces, one looking back like the god Janus (?) I recognized pope Leo XIII (yes, I'm that old) and wiki is saying: "Leo XIII, who was born in 1810 and was thus 86 years old in 1896, is considered the earliest-born person ever to be captured on film. The images of him are well-known, and recently were enhanced and colorized on-line.” ruclips.net/video/3IVQ-1t92hA/видео.htmlsi=hXFM4fDfXhhyaWan
Прекрасный, нежный голос, красивая музыка, красивый клип. Но, как жаль, что не зная языка, не понимаю о чем эта замечательная (но чувствую, что грустная) песня. Эмерсон, спасибо за реакцию.

Perfection taken to another level.
