- In a recent video I talked about my issues with the Sony Xperia 5 IV and how it was affecting my day to day usage so much I had to put my SIM card in another phone. Well there's been an update. Things might be looking up...

Interesting development and update, let's hope it stays stable....😎
All good so far mate. Much much better.
Good that so far it is doing well!
Fingers crossed it stays that way
Yay. Glad it's better!
👍🏻
Ooooooooo YES 🙏
Right there with you Marian 🙏🏻
Hello! I wrote you in your last video about the issues! Now I think it is a Sony issue, their team for software is small compared to other brands, I am happy now it is working again. Thanks for your work!
Yeah it seemed to be Android 13 issues. Just glad it's something they've rectified now as it was making the device very difficult to use.
Thank you for watching and for your feedback.
I'm a proud Xperia 5 IV owner and I've to say it really seems the last February's update improved the temp management.
I've never experienced all problems you described in the last video, maybe you just got just a corrupted OTA update, though
Who knows. Seems like there have been others having similar issues but the Feb update fixed everything for me. It's performing really well now. Heat hasn't been a problem though. I know how to manage it well enough.
Thanks for watching Mennio 👍🏻
@@GroundedTech hey, just curious. how do you manage the heating issues?
It hasn't really been too much of an issue. When recording video it comes down to settings and then ambient temperature in your surroundings.
For gaming you can use the game enhancer to lower some settings (if needed) and that will of course help the thermals too.
Haven't found it as big an issue due to cooler temperatures in the UK. In the heat of summer you'll definitely notice it when doing those things. General use should still be fine.
i agree i love the form factor of my x5 iv, just cant stand the camera and heating issues. my z9 beats it in performance all day. Got the regular s23 and so far everything seems flawless even with the smaller battery.
Tbh I've been enjoying the camera for the most part. Overheating only an issue when I've been recording 4k video for longer than twenty minutes.
If you're more comfortable with the S23 then you've made the right move.
Looking forward to the next review 😅.
A review of this will be coming next month. A different one on the way before then.
Hi, I just came across your channel. im currently a Samsung user, but I'm thinking of getting a Sony, probably the new one if it comes out this year. But my question is what is the camera like when taking pictures of fast moving kids as being a family man i take alot of pics of my kids but with the Samsung i can't always get the perfect shot because sometimes they come out blurry.
Welcome along! Xperia's are kinda tricky with photography compared to some other brands. They can be very snappy in good conditions and the burst mode is very very good. I've got some great pictures of our dogs (Xperia 5 ii review shows some of that).
They're trickier in lower light tbh and the camera apps are a bit more complex. I would recommend waiting for the new one this year but I will also have a full review of the 5 IV in the next few weeks.
Ps. Google Pixel's have generally been the best for quick photos of kids and even pets. It's definitely the most simple camera system and more often than not you'll get great shots (Pixel 6 Review coming next!).
Hope that helps.
I ran away from Asus ZenFone 8 flip for the update issues and today I have got my hands on the Xperia 5 IV and in last 7 hours it has updated more than 5 times. It looks like it's the same over and over
Five times?!? Are the updates not installing or something?
It's seems like same update over and o try toover. Even now it's tells me that there is available update. Othe than that it's great I must say. I have linked it to my Nikon DSLR with no issues.
Might be worth doing a full reset and see if it sorts it. If not get it replaced.
It's pretty cool to use with various cameras.
How about camera performance? especially when recording the video. I want this phone but i'm not sure or i have to wait for the mark v 🤔
Depends what you need from it. I've been recording my RUclips videos with it and it has been flawless.
It's made for video in all honesty. Only time you may have an issue is recording in hotter climates.
No, after the update, closing applications is still not fluid, and stops for a moment before the application closes.
I get that occasionally but I've had something worse happening since then too. Another update coming tomorrow 👍🏻
@@GroundedTech Something worse???
I don't know why, but android 12 worked perfectly. After installing 13, only problems... and I also notice crackling in the speaker...
Yeah 12 on the 1 IV for me was fantastic which was weird because 12 had more inherent issues than 13 in general. Sony need to do better on software.
@@GroundedTech Interesting. Is it known when the new update is coming? Because this is irritating!
Not sure about the next update. Could be a while as Sony aren't exactly quick. I'd rather they do it right though.
I may be swapping the phone out next week.
Would you recommend me getting this Xperia 5 IV mate? I'm still using my LG G8 since 2019 and I can find a worthy replacement for it. I'm impressed with Pixels and Galaxy S series and definitely no iphones for me an apple hater.
I tried the Xperia 1 III last year I bought it but never really used it as daily driver, I was not impressed with battery life and just the UI feel of almost stock android.
So I sold it after couple months and kept my LG G8 which still works great today despite only at Android 11. I use it for everything, work, banking, shopping, emails video and photo edits for my youtube channel shorts and some gaming.
I was considering the OnePlus 10 Pro and Asus Zenfone 9 but I don't know I'm not sold completely.
If you didn't enjoy the 1 iii I'm not sure I could recommend this year's Xperia's even though battery life is much better. But the upcoming phones should be even better. The software isn't going to change all that much though.
Pixel's are pretty great. The latest Samsung's are much better too (I'll be picking up one of the S23 phones this week) and even brands like Oppo are well worth a look.
It's difficult, but I think you're better waiting a few months to see what else appears on the market as there's a lot of good stuff coming up.
Wish I could have tried the G8!
@@GroundedTech The LG G8 is fantastic underrated phone back then in 2019. I've always had LG Phone starting from the Optimus then the G2, then G6 and now G8. I was very sad about couple years ago when LG decided they're no longer making phones. The last LG phone I bought was for my wife the LG Velvet...it ain't that great my LG G8 is still better.
As for the G8. I just love the interface on it how I can customize a lot of things and it just feels good to me. The shortcuts I can do...headphone jack, microSD storage, the camera photo and video features, wireless charging etc. etc.
Some flagship phones don't even have of those features that the LG G8 has and it's 2023. That's why I'm still holding on to my beloved G8 and make sure it runs well.
I would love to have the Xperia 5 IV just for the camera features alone being a pro photographer and video producer I use Sony cameras and lenses but I'm reluctant about everything else with it.
Thanks for your time.
Yeah it's a real shame. And no problem. I would honestly wait for this year's Xperia's and then make your mind up. Be happy to discuss it again.
Cheers!
Sony should have bought LGs camera software when LG stopped the phone department. That would make the camera software of the sony 10times more user friendly and better. Missed chance by sony in my opinion. Maybe the Asus is the better choice nowadays indeed
Indeed maybe the new sony xperias would be way better
Almost stock Android yet lazy Pony take forever to fix minor bugs. They only provide two or three years of software updates too. My old XZ1 was a beast, especially rooted.
Two years of OS and three security. Definitely needs at least another year adding on.
I literally decided not to get the 5 IV because of the last video. I bought a Pixel 7 instead! It just arrived today😂😅😢
I hope the Pixel 7 is to your liking. It's a VERY different kind of phone, but a good one.
Eh, it's still up for debate. As expected, the phone just feels too wide for me.
And it's full of its own annoying quirks. Might be going back. I'm not sure yet.
Coming from an Xperia everything feels wide that's for sure!
