    I went to visit Belgium, ate the food there, with no worries, and walked around 12K a day on average. I lost 20lbs during the two weeks there and weeks after I got back to the US. The impact lasted for months for me.

    You are helping so many people who either don’t have the funds to see you or who live to far away to be a patient.
    We thank you greatly for sharing your knowledge with us!

    Thank you Dr. Gundry! Quick takeaway: 2700 - 3900 steps per day - and you can break it up into "exercise snacks" - good to walk to get sunlight in the early morning, and good to take a walk in the evening after dinner.

    I have done a lot of these tips for years. I’m 64 married to a 54 year old man. I do as much as I can on my own to keep my strength up. It’s me who lifts the 5 gallon jug of water on to the dispenser stand. If I can do it, I will. My grandma was 84 years old when she mowed her lawn with a push mower!!

    I walk 10-12 thousand steps almost everyday but I don’t walk for weight loss. My weight is normal. I love walking and I can say it helps me to have good health. I don’t count my steps but my phone count all those steps. From the steps above, I walk 20-25 minutes after breakfast and 40-45 minutes after dinner. I never eat something for lunch. Due to my personal experience, walking and changing my diet changed my life . I didn’t go to visit my doctor for some health issues but I overcame on all those issues just by walking and changing my diet. I did my bloodwork last week and got my Hba1c of 5.2 and the doctor office called me that everything was normal. From the view point of health benefits I will continue walking. It’s kind a habit now and makes me happy.

    7500 steps is the answer.
    Cause of health wise there is no beneficial difference between 7500 and 10,000

    I walk at least between 12 and 13000 steps a day sometimes even more I walk 13 blocks to my train to get to work each morning then when I get to work there's no elevator or escalators as a custodial worker everything is done manually so I think I get plenty of exercise

    It depends on your health, diet and if you are doing other activities. But 10k steps walking is a good suggestion. Obviously, shorter, if you run/jog. It's all cumulative Metabolic Equivalent Task hours...

    Good talk. About the stairs only walk down it is not good to do without having warm mucles and blooding your joints because of the high intensity on your knees and ankles . Much better take the elevator down and walk up the stairs! Much better for you for your joints and as motion.

    I am 83 and a widow. I live in a large apartment building having lost my husband five years ago. Now each day I walk 1200 steps each hour starting at 10 am until 1 pm per day along the hall beside my apartment. That means that I walk about 5000 steps each day. I can do it every day with no worry about rain or snow at all!
    It’s great because I get to talk to my other neighbours as they go about their business!
    I love doing it and don’t worry much about my weight! I no longer have a car but right beside my apartment there is a big shopping centre so I can walk there to get my groceries, hair cuts etc. I feel great and have my health as well as staying in touch with other people!

    well well...agree with all that you said, but when I start walking in the morning, I just can't stop until 9-10 km . I just feel I can't stop keep moving and it is quite enjoyable. I want to slow down, but I am only 71 and think I will do someday less km. By the way, I reversed the DT2 and feel fantastic, so I'll keep on moving and eat OMAD...🥳

    Good tips to move more. Is true that generally in Europe we walk much more than in the US, but hings have changed a lot and we have adopted the american way of living, fast food deliver to our home and driving to a big supermarket instead of fresh food and walking to the city market

      it's possible to lose weight with or without walking. weight loss is 80% diet, 20% exercise and other factors like water, sunlight, sleep, relationships, avoiding stress, etc.
      overweight people can lose a lot of weight with IF and low-carb diet and zero exercise. walking is great for mood, heart, lungs, muscle and immune system but not so great for burning calories.

    Dr. Gundry, I have a question regarding intermittent fasting. I have trouble with the eating window because I just do not feel hungry at 7pm. I have a low carb lunch around 1pm and then I can go on until well 9pm or even later without any sense of hunger. I cannot see myself eating at 6-7pm, just because I need to keep the time window. What do you suggest? Thank you

    • @annamaria1972
      @annamaria1972 Год назад +1

      It means you like the OMAD ( One meal a day) routine. But women if they still have their period should fast according their cycle. Or it can mess up your hormones.

    • @nadiah3664
      @nadiah3664 Год назад +1

      @@annamaria1972 No I dnt like OMAD, because I do eventually get hungry, usually around 9-10pm. Also,women can do OMAD, why not? They just have to make sure, they get enough calories, thats all.

    • @annamaria1972
      @annamaria1972 Год назад

      @@nadiah3664 You can put your eating window whenever you like. But it's best to fast after sun goes down because our metabolism slows down. Of course women can do OMAD but not all the time.

    • @nadiah3664
      @nadiah3664 Год назад

      @@annamaria1972 What you say is INCORRECT, women can do OMAD all the time they want, the only concern is if they are getting the nutrition they need. If one meal per day provides the necessary calories and all the nutriets they need, then there is NO PROBLEM. So bottom line, your answers are incorrect and I actually asked this question to Dr. Gundry, sadly I didnt get an answer from him.
      And sure, I can set my eating time window as I want. That was not what I was asking him. I wanted to know, how am I supposed to reduce the time window, if I dont feel hungry within that window. And that is something you havent answered either. Just saying.

      i used to love my 2-10 pm window. now i love my 9-5 pm window. are you doing IF for weight loss, maintenance, convenience, preference? eat whenever you want. what time to you go to sleep? avoid food for 2-3 hrs prior to sleep.

    I’m in my late 30s and can tell you, 3-4k steps is nowhere near sufficient. I’d suggest 7-8k is more apt, but I instead typically do 10-13k daily and see massive benefits in energy, weight loss, mood and keeping my body supple.

    Why did you start the video by undermining the importance of walking and then proceed to discuss the benefits of walking for the rest of the video??? If you think 2-3k steps is enough you clearly have never tracked your steps. In order to walk that little you would have to consciously avoid walking (even the average American gets 4K).
    My observation: each indigenous tribe I have researched with little to no chronic disease get an average of 12k steps a day.
