My limiter is the idea boosters anyway, so I always have more cores than I ever open at a time. It is funny that it's even possible to do this, but I would hardly want to rob myself of my chances to fight this thing. Even if my method is a little less efficient, I do at least have fun with it, doing the combos manually with Tora and ending the battle with an 8-orb burst, just to increase the last item drop 5-fold. Cause God knows sitting on the Blade bonding screen for an hour at a time isn't fun...
if youre willing to order an arduino teensy and have beginner programming knowledge, you could easily do this because the timing is pretty consistent with loading. just look up "arduino switch controller betterprogrammingpub" to get an idea of it.

i got the best method farm 99 legendary cores, save game and close game, turn game cloud save off and start game again, open all cores. Didn't get Kosmos? exit game and recover save from cloud. This reset process take like a minute to do.

I found that putting stuff that ups healing properties like vegetables in everyone's pouch (especially Nia's) helps a lot if you're having trouble with surviving. Great video Wargasmic!

I've missed out on a lot of stuff because of this mindstate, but I would've missed out on much better stuff without it. Xenogears and Xenoblade have screwed me up.
I love this method. I’ve been doing stuff like this since Final Fantasy VII. I had a controller with a “turbo” feature which just rapidly pressed a given button if held down. So I got two guitar capos to hold down that rapid button and the 2nd capo would hold down the directional pad to make the character run. In those days RPGs had random encounters so as long as the character was moving, you would keep encountering enemies. I would do this to gain money, EXP, items, etc.
Worth noting now with the new custom settings that you can set ardun's hp to alot more and reduce its dmg dealt making this even better for those like me who are still farming.
yeah, its what i do, because i never use zeke and tora, i instead let them level up then level them back down to 1 spend as much of their experience as possible on legendary crystals and just level them up again and rinse and repeat lol
Only thing in this game that drove me NUTS was getting the light elemental core for Poppi QT Pie (@350 hours in).... Everything else, even every rare blade, I got super fast...

Sebastian Castro, Poppi Qt Pi can have light element... You get it randomly in the level 5 of Tiger Tiger... Hardest thing for me to get in the game... Took FOREVER... But she is crazy overpowered once you get it...

I just spent a couple evenings trying to get this set up, I am only level 80 though so I had to do it with some level 4 items instead. I tried it out on the gorilla UM in Gormott and got 8 legendary cores before he killed me. I opened the first one of those cores afterwards and got KOS-MOS immediately (I screamed) so I guess this strategy works!
I would recommend the people that killed their Arduran early to go to the land of Moryta and farm Soul Eater Stanley while making sure they have gold chips equipped to their party. I was able to get around 65 common cores, 45 rare cores and 11-15 legendary cores. This is also good for people that aren’t high lvl enough to fight the lvl 106 superboss since soul eater stanly is lvl 56. I did this recently with a party of Rex (lvl 81), Tora (lvl 81) and Nia (lvl 77) and was able to get the cores and get Kos-Mos from a Rare Core Without boosters.
For me, AI Rex kept taking aggro from AI Tora and dying. With the controller set up, Nia missed a few legendary cores. In the end I let Rex and Tora do their thing, collected cores with Nia and, healed Rex when needed. My last three blades in order: Adenine, Ursula, KOS-MOS. Early chaper 9 (doesn't matter though). If you have a Nintendo Switch Online Membership you can save-scum core awakenings using cloud back-up. I did this for my last three blades after learning about it.
Yeah I'm definitely doing this baby, and I'll be going to make a cup of tea while its happening then I'll watch a movie and a tv show while I snack on some skeetles or dark chocolate, as I also rinse and repeat it until I get 99 Legendary cores and 99 Rare cores. Whoevers idea was it to make rare blades a gacha system should quit their job only common blades should have the gacha.
I reluctantly tried this out with pretty "naked" Poppies. To my joy i found out that it works perfectly even with all Poppies having practically no Mods equipped. Amazing to find out for me since i hate Tiger Tiger with a passion.
I can't get it to work, I watch my party members and Tora's break gets resisted constantly and then Rex is never able to do the combos. Is it because I'm not 99 yet? I have all the items in the video. My party is still around level 80

At lv 94-95 I tried this. I had to take control with Nia and heal the party occasionally. Took me 23 minutes to defeat RA, and got 47 Legendary cores! KOS-MOS bonded after about 25 cores :)

I would love to use the exact same setup as you, but it might be difficult to do when you can't even equip treasure sensor on all poppi forms. Besides that I use the rest of your setup and still never see any break/topple/launches happening for me. Besides that if I use a elastic band in the same way she is definitely not running in circles, but just running straight to the right. This auto farm would be amazing if I have any clue how to do it properly.
My strat was to open 5 legendaries with 1 booster, then 10 rares with no booster, then reset the game. This resets the pool of blades you can get from the cores. Got KOS-MOS as my last blade, on the first core of my 6th reset.
To everyone who's getting it to work... how??? no matter what I do I'm either at the fence, or i fall in the pool or nia isn't collecting the items properly because she's under the arduran or too far out. Any assistance is really appreciated
I know this video is 2 years old now, but Poppi Alpha can't use Treasure Sensor. Thanks for the video otherwise, I farmed about 450 crystals with your non-automated method so far, still haven't gotten my last 2 blades (KOS-MOS, and another before her in list).
i do find it a little humerus that kos-mos is the blade everyone can't seem to get and she was the first blade i got with zeke and i can't seem to get nym to save my life.
I think for additional optimization you'd want to use Zeke instead of Tora. Zeke: 2 Ether Cannons, 1 Shield Hammer (or Pandoria) [Break/Launch] Rex: Ursula, Pyra, Rox [Heal/Topple/Smash] 3rd: Adenine *EVERYONE* wears Overclocking, and Beta. Zeke prioritizes Driver combos more consistently than Tora. 2 Ether Cannons on Zeke gives him more access to Break so the combo can start. Pyra because she deals less damage due to reduced crit rate. Alternatively you play as 3rd with a random Knuckle on Rex and Ursula on you. Have Adenine out normally, swap to Ursula exclusively if your team needs a heal. It's not exclusively "automatic" but it's more consistent, and safer.
I found a decent spot to farm rare and legendary core crystals. It's a spot in the world tree. As for people who kept saying luck can influence the odds of rare blade...CUT THAT SHIT OUT! Zeke on my end got the lowest luck but HE was able to summon KOS MOS of all characters. The true ingame description states the luck increases the odds of resisting a reaction or status. If you want to increase your odds of a rare blade, use rare core crystals or higher, use a booster for a particular blade you want, and if you have plenty of commons...SPAM summon those first, then work your way up to use rare, then legendary. I only had 2 blades left to find and I managed to get them both in under an hour. It took some time but the moment I got 1, the last came right after I used this strategy. Common cores have the lowest chance to summon rare blades. As you work up to rares, those odds increase and with boosters...they go up even more. I used 10 common cores then 1 rare with no boosters and I got Gorg. Used 10 common cores, 1 rare, and 1 legendary with boosters and I got my final blade.
Luck in game makes your more likely to pull a rare core, but that doesn't mean it completely negates the RNG or low luck will completely prevent you from pulling them.
So, um, ah, funny story, really... The relentless Arduran won’t spawn for me, because when I first got Merc Missions I really didn’t know how they worked, that was the first one I found from an NPC, and when he said play fight, I thought he meant fight it. I killed it, and now the guy just keeps telling me I F’ed up. RIP?
Rowlet is Here Yes it was, when I originally talked to him he had the merc mission icon above his head, then when I talked to him he gave the the first mission, which I thought meant I had to kill the thing
he did not have a merc mission above his head, it was the trophy symbol which well... means it has some side thing to do i guess? such as finding the nopons around the world and the salvage ranking

I've got this setup myself now, and my god is it good. I have to work out a few kinks because I'm using Fast Switch 4 rather than 5 on some of my blades so the AI can miss their marks sometimes, but the item drop rates and additional drops are pretty damn great. Sadly I'm underlevelled for the Arduran so I'm just grinding stuff at my level at the moment. Slowly working my way up levels.
Yeah, but if my experience is any indication, you'll need at least as many cores for those last 2 as you did for every other one combined. It took me damn near 200 cores to get Vale as my second to last Rare Blade, and I'm still working on Kos-Mos. So learning to farm this Arduran is still good to do
When grinding the arduran, I blowdowned him onto (not into) the pool thing, and he never got up until I killed him. Didn’t attack, didn’t do anything. When I launched him, he only went up by a small amount, still in the lying position. When I smashed him, nothing happened, and the smash effect stayed for a long time as if it were a break. I didn’t even get any items from the smash ;-;Has this happened to anyone else? I wanna know if I’ve discovered something new or if it’s already known
I accidentally killed the child Arduran near the beginning of the game :( I thought when the kid asked me to train it and it had a level number next to it it meant battling it to train it.
Yeah... if you literally maximize everything that even slightly increases the chance to get her, a legendary core crystal still has a sub 1% chance of being KOS-MOS.
I've all but given up trying to get Kos-mos in my 1st play through. Think my odds are greater getting her in new game + with the larger pool of rare blades?
Nope. The odds for every rare blade are determined individually. More rare blades means a higher chance to get any rare blade, but it doesn't affect the chance to get a specific one.
If memory serves right, you can press down on the right stick to reset the camera and have it center on any combat targets to allow for the showcased circling. Just don't move the camera once you're set up and you should be fine.
i followed everything step by step (except I use agate instead of pandoria because I dont wanna fuck up pandoria's chips, I used morag instead of nia because I have adenine on her, and i didnt give treasure sensor to poppi a because she cant use it) and ive been doing this for 30 min and the ai haven't driver combo once. What am I doing wrong? everyone has their correct arts equipped and fast switch aux cores but they arent preforming the driver combos. the best they are doing is topple.
Late, sorry, but in case anyone else needs it... One of the reasons that might have been happening is because the Launch attack Rex can perform with Greataxes, like Agate, is incredibly slow. If he's switching to Mythra to Topple, then waiting to switch to Agate, then by the time he accomplishes that, he won't have time to execute the Launch with Agate. That's why Pandoria is ideal. You don't necessarily need the Gold Chip on Pandoria, as the most important one to have it on is Roc; he'll be doing the Smashing, which is the same moment when Drop Rate increases are relevant. Having it on Mythra and Pandoria is simply a way to make sure Drop Rate increases are active if Tora does the Smash instead with Poppi QT (but he probably won't, as Rex will beat him to the punch 95% of the time). Gold Chips aren't required anyways, just ideal. I'm doing this with only Adenine and Roc having Gold Chips equipped, and lacking most of the Aux Cores recommended, or any Treasure Sensors on Poppi. May as well if I'm busy, even if it's far from optimal.
is it just me because with his rubber set up they only run in a line so i had (not tested with boss yet) to also hook up the rigth stick with it with the the same hook points

you need to max out the affinity chart on 4 star blades and release them. I still haven't gotten a 4-star blade myself, I hear they drop from legendary cores though.
I got all the blades after 200+hours and all of them are s rank except popi and all her forms i refuse to play tiger tiger that's all I'm willing to do and refuse to spend hours force feeding them at least ursulas quest was long but it also helped me to max out all my blades affinity chart lol
This method doesn't really work well on the Reeking Douglas because he's too small for the rubber band trick to focus on and Nia just keeps running too far from him. Can't get her to circle him. Any other monsters that would be Good? Other then the one I killed at the start XD
You could try the Pernicious Benf in Temperantia at the Aegishammer. He's harder to kill, but he's about the same size as the Arduran and he can be combo locked just as easily. The thing you have to worry about is the other behemoths joining in the fight, so it'd be smart to kill them before you get started

You know the first time I got KOS MOS, it wasnt my last rare blade. Either it was luck or some other dumb reason because I got KOS MOS right before postgame I think
How can I get Tora reliably use his smash attack? I can see him switch to Poppi QT, but most of the time he uses one of his other attacks, not the smash one and I literally can't figure out why. The Blades I'm using don't have max trust so I still do backup launching with Nia but leave the smash to Rex and Tora but they mess up so much :/ I can't imagine that it's cause I only got Fast Switch IV on Poppi's forms... cause he can switch in time just doesn't use the right attack it's driving me nuts tbh... And yes, before someone asks, I do have the appropriate skill equipped on her.
The person you want doing the Smashing is Rex with Roc! Tora should be focused exclusively on using Break. He has the best Break skill in the game, which hits for 3 times and therefore 3 times the chances to inflict Break. Rex is the one doing Topple (Mythra), Launch (Pandoria), and Smash (Roc).

no point now, with the new bards you can just keep levelling and reducing the levels of characters to spend exp for legendary core crystals

Getting KOS MOS was hard but thanks for info didn't need the plastic band or having luck at 999 I wasted so many hours on it
I would love to use the exact same setup as you, but it might be difficult to do when you can't even equip treasure sensor on all poppi forms. Besides that I use the rest of your setup and still never see any break/topple/launches happening for me. Besides that if I use a elastic band in the same way she is definitely not running in circles, but just running straight to the right. This auto farm would be amazing if I have any clue how to do it properly.
My strat was to open 5 legendaries with 1 booster, then 10 rares with no booster, then reset the game. This resets the pool of blades you can get from the cores. Got KOS-MOS as my last blade, on the first core of my 6th reset.

I feel so bad, Kos-Mos was the second rare blade I pulled on Nia and my fourth overall.
Second playthrough pulled 4 rare blades on Rex got KOS-MOS on the fourth (14 cores total)

no matter what I do I'm either at the fence, or i fall in the pool or nia isn't collecting the items properly because she's under the arduran or too far out.

i do find it a little humerus that kos-mos is the blade everyone can't seem to get and she was the first blade i got with zeke and i can't seem to get nym to save my life.

I think for additional optimization you'd want to use Zeke instead of Tora.
Zeke: 2 Ether Cannons, 1 Shield Hammer (or Pandoria) [Break/Launch]
Rex: Ursula, Pyra, Rox [Heal/Topple/Smash]
3rd: Adenine
*EVERYONE* wears Overclocking, and Beta.
Zeke prioritizes Driver combos more consistently than Tora.
2 Ether Cannons on Zeke gives him more access to Break so the combo can start.
Pyra because she deals less damage due to reduced crit rate.
Alternatively you play as 3rd with a random Knuckle on Rex and Ursula on you. Have Adenine out normally, swap to Ursula exclusively if your team needs a heal.
It's not exclusively "automatic" but it's more consistent, and safer.
Tora's break art actually has 3 chances to break as it hits 3 times. Also low cd on it so I think he's better

Sounds about right. Ive spent well over 300 rare and legend cores and nothing yet. I kept track.
KOS-MOS was one of the very first blades that I got
I found a decent spot to farm rare and legendary core crystals. It's a spot in the world tree. As for people who kept saying luck can influence the odds of rare blade...CUT THAT SHIT OUT! Zeke on my end got the lowest luck but HE was able to summon KOS MOS of all characters. The true ingame description states the luck increases the odds of resisting a reaction or status. If you want to increase your odds of a rare blade, use rare core crystals or higher, use a booster for a particular blade you want, and if you have plenty of commons...SPAM summon those first, then work your way up to use rare, then legendary. I only had 2 blades left to find and I managed to get them both in under an hour. It took some time but the moment I got 1, the last came right after I used this strategy. Common cores have the lowest chance to summon rare blades. As you work up to rares, those odds increase and with boosters...they go up even more. I used 10 common cores then 1 rare with no boosters and I got Gorg. Used 10 common cores, 1 rare, and 1 legendary with boosters and I got my final blade.
Luck in game makes your more likely to pull a rare core, but that doesn't mean it completely negates the RNG or low luck will completely prevent you from pulling them.

The relentless Arduran won’t spawn for me, because when I first got Merc Missions I really didn’t know how they worked, that was the first one I found from an NPC, and when he said play fight, I thought he meant fight it. I killed it, and now the guy just keeps telling me I F’ed up. RIP?

I've got this setup myself now, and my god is it good. I have to work out a few kinks because I'm using Fast Switch 4 rather than 5 on some of my blades so the AI can miss their marks sometimes, but the item drop rates and additional drops are pretty damn great.
Sadly I'm underlevelled for the Arduran so I'm just grinding stuff at my level at the moment. Slowly working my way up levels.

Yeah, but if my experience is any indication, you'll need at least as many cores for those last 2 as you did for every other one combined. It took me damn near 200 cores to get Vale as my second to last Rare Blade, and I'm still working on Kos-Mos. So learning to farm this Arduran is still good to do
When grinding the arduran, I blowdowned him onto (not into) the pool thing, and he never got up until I killed him. Didn’t attack, didn’t do anything. When I launched him, he only went up by a small amount, still in the lying position. When I smashed him, nothing happened, and the smash effect stayed for a long time as if it were a break. I didn’t even get any items from the smash ;-;Has this happened to anyone else? I wanna know if I’ve discovered something new or if it’s already known

How can you stay locked on the target? When I hit the right stick it does it for a second and goes back to normal.

I have found this trick works better for larger creatures. I tried it on Stanley and Nia doesn't stay in a circle very well at all.

Yeah... if you literally maximize everything that even slightly increases the chance to get her, a legendary core crystal still has a sub 1% chance of being KOS-MOS.

Nope. The odds for every rare blade are determined individually. More rare blades means a higher chance to get any rare blade, but it doesn't affect the chance to get a specific one.

If memory serves right, you can press down on the right stick to reset the camera and have it center on any combat targets to allow for the showcased circling. Just don't move the camera once you're set up and you should be fine.
i followed everything step by step (except I use agate instead of pandoria because I dont wanna fuck up pandoria's chips, I used morag instead of nia because I have adenine on her, and i didnt give treasure sensor to poppi a because she cant use it) and ive been doing this for 30 min and the ai haven't driver combo once. What am I doing wrong? everyone has their correct arts equipped and fast switch aux cores but they arent preforming the driver combos. the best they are doing is topple.
Late, sorry, but in case anyone else needs it... One of the reasons that might have been happening is because the Launch attack Rex can perform with Greataxes, like Agate, is incredibly slow. If he's switching to Mythra to Topple, then waiting to switch to Agate, then by the time he accomplishes that, he won't have time to execute the Launch with Agate. That's why Pandoria is ideal.
You don't necessarily need the Gold Chip on Pandoria, as the most important one to have it on is Roc; he'll be doing the Smashing, which is the same moment when Drop Rate increases are relevant. Having it on Mythra and Pandoria is simply a way to make sure Drop Rate increases are active if Tora does the Smash instead with Poppi QT (but he probably won't, as Rex will beat him to the punch 95% of the time).
Gold Chips aren't required anyways, just ideal. I'm doing this with only Adenine and Roc having Gold Chips equipped, and lacking most of the Aux Cores recommended, or any Treasure Sensors on Poppi. May as well if I'm busy, even if it's far from optimal.
is it just me because with his rubber set up they only run in a line so i had (not tested with boss yet) to also hook up the rigth stick with it with the the same hook points
Not testing with the boss is the problem! You need to 'Lock On' to the boss by clicking the right stick
seeing people go this far just to get KOS-MOS makes me sad that i got her so early on and almost never used her once.

you need to max out the affinity chart on 4 star blades and release them. I still haven't gotten a 4-star blade myself, I hear they drop from legendary cores though.

I got all the blades after 200+hours and all of them are s rank except popi and all her forms i refuse to play tiger tiger that's all I'm willing to do and refuse to spend hours force feeding them at least ursulas quest was long but it also helped me to max out all my blades affinity chart lol

This method doesn't really work well on the Reeking Douglas because he's too small for the rubber band trick to focus on and Nia just keeps running too far from him. Can't get her to circle him.

You could try the Pernicious Benf in Temperantia at the Aegishammer. He's harder to kill, but he's about the same size as the Arduran and he can be combo locked just as easily. The thing you have to worry about is the other behemoths joining in the fight, so it'd be smart to kill them before you get started

How can I get Tora reliably use his smash attack? I can see him switch to Poppi QT, but most of the time he uses one of his other attacks, not the smash one and I literally can't figure out why. The Blades I'm using don't have max trust so I still do backup launching with Nia but leave the smash to Rex and Tora but they mess up so much :/ I can't imagine that it's cause I only got Fast Switch IV on Poppi's forms... cause he can switch in time just doesn't use the right attack it's driving me nuts tbh... And yes, before someone asks, I do have the appropriate skill equipped on her.
The person you want doing the Smashing is Rex with Roc! Tora should be focused exclusively on using Break. He has the best Break skill in the game, which hits for 3 times and therefore 3 times the chances to inflict Break. Rex is the one doing Topple (Mythra), Launch (Pandoria), and Smash (Roc).
