  • The drawback to a vacuum pump has always been the noise. With the use of our OEM quality rotary style motor, noise is a thing of the past.
The Silent Drive Vacuum Pump is a solution to not only low vacuum but excessive noise.
Big cams can wreak havoc in a vehicle with a power brake booster. The bigger the cam, the lower the vacuum number. Inherently, the lower the vacuum number the harder the brake pedal is to press. This doesn't have to be the case. With our Silent Drive Vacuum Pump, you can remove the engine from the equation and use our stand alone pump to provide the vacuum necessary to properly run a vacuum brake booster.

he didn't move the decibel meter to the other side when he switched pumps. I'm sure it is quieter but not correct.

Although the SD Pump might be substantially quieter, this DB Demonstration is intentionally missleeding. The phone is placed directly under the Standard Vacuum for both readings. It should be placed under the SD or the reading is not accurate.

I have big cams on my GTR and not much vacuum as a result. The brakes are weak. I bought a vacuum pump from summit and its really loud. Its running inline with the engine with the vacuum canister. In your setup am I right in thinking I can remove the canister and vacuum line from the engine? Will it alone be enough to stop the car every time I hit the brakes?? Would you recommend keeping a cannister/accumulator to reserve some vacuum for light braking? Its a track car

My NEW BOSCH HYDROBOOST uses the p/s pump lines for pressure. It ccan deliver up to 1800psi to the calipers at idle pump speed. powerbrakebobmsn.com

what should be mentioned.. perhaps it is in the installation.. this is a vacuum booster pump.. its still hooked to the normal manifold vacuum fitting on the back of the intake or carbs.. but it boosts the vacuum several inches.. so if your engine is only producing 12 inches of vacuum. you will probably have closer to 18 inches of vacuum at the booster..
there are additional vacuum reservoirs available also.. putting one of those between this booster pump and the actual power brake booster... be sure to use PCV or power brake booster vacuum hose.. it comes in 11/32, 15/32 or 19/32 ID .. and won't collapse under vacuum conditions. not all parts techs know what it is..

The product description says that this is a standalone system, and does not mention in the installation guide about connecting to the existing vacuum system. Have you used this system?

@@heatherwubs7653 how much vacuum does it create.? i see its a stand alone system.. so it could possibly be capable of creating 18 inches of vacuum. sure would be nice to know.. i have dealt with electric power brake booster systems since the early 80s.. OEM versions.

Hooking it up inline with your engine intake vacuum would be a big mistake ...possibly will even create carb tuning issues with the pump on.. If it is set to come on at or under 18 Inches vacuum and your engine is only capable of generating 11 inches it would never shut off. Vacuum canisters would cause lag as well. If your engine is only capable of generating 11 inches of vacuum the canister would only charge to 11 inches. you would have a larger volume but still at only 11 inches. Tell me how a vacuum canister helps with big duration and overlap cams when almost every vacuum booster out there operates at best efficiency at 18 inches vacuum. My Mopar doesn't have that big of a cam comparatively and only pulls 13 inches...I might get one of these...but I'll hook it up right.

@@imken2392 there are several ways to hook them up. they should not create an idle issue inline to manifold vacuum.
