Thank you for the video on this vacuum pump , needed one for a 4x4 truck son and I built with a healthy roller cam . Must say these pumps work extremely well.
I bought this pump from a Volvo dealer in the UK and the kit did not include the servo valve/switch, after much research I found the part number for this is 30616993. Note you will also need a length of 3/8" vacuum hose and a fuse holder for the vac motor power supply, kit includes a 15Amp fuse but not the fuse holder
@klowny1969 Thank you. The reason I'm asking is because it sounds like it's shirt cycling. But if I take the hose from the pump, it turns on just fine.
Is the vauum pump always running? Or is it only powered on when the brakes are applied? I have an old import thats going to be running individual throttle bodies. Been considering running a vacuum pump as a vacuum source for the booster. I was wondering if i could get away with powering it from the brake light switch, so its only running when you are on the brakes. Do you see any issue powering the vac pump in this way?
My car has 7-8”of vacuum at idle and my power brakes aren’t horribly bad but they still will get hard if you use them too much. I’ve heard Hydroboost set ups failing, no brakes, I’ve heard of these set ups failing, no brakes. What you can do is if you still have a little vacuum like me is tie your existing line in to your new vacuum pump line but you need to put a good quality check valve in to your line coming out of the carb. If you ever have a failure you will still have some brakes, rather your engine dies or your pump fails.
Fantastic video. Just learning about this option now. Does the pressure bleed off? Why I ask - could this setup be used in a car that sees light track duty? Or will the pump constantly be running and "trying to catch up" to brake needs?
man brilliant device , is this more suited to modified engines with low manifold vacuum or even standard cars, i want more responsive brakes. Ive been in cars with weak diaphram springs in boosters and you just about go through the windssheild, thats the kinda brakes i want LOL.
Added a rotary vac pump off a vw touareg on the 88 gta. Also hooked it up so if the rotary pump fails, the dismal manifold vac will still work enuff to get ya stopped. Any suggestions on what hood to put on this thing? Going to put sniper fuel system with rpm q jet intake. Hood clearance sux on these cars. As always , love your vids bubba!
@@klowny1969 I live in Alabama.........nuff said LOL. And thanks as always. May shoot a small vid showing how i set up the vac system in mine. Think total cost was like 94 bucks and works like a charm. Total vac time on empty canister and booster is less than 7 seconds
HAVE I GOT A PROBLEM FOR YOU! LOL have you run across this, or have any idea what could be happening to me? heres my issue..My car is a 69 coronet with 500CI, I'm running a AC fan, Vacuum pump, 2 electric cooling fans. I have a EFI fuel injection. When I get up to temp, I lose the 2 cooling fans, and vacuum pump causing over heating of engine and loss of brakes. AC fan still operates. When engine cools down, 2 cooling fans and vacuum pump operate normally again.Any Ideas?
Chris Bentley I got troubleshooting a little More into it, and it appears before the power gets the the relays for fans and vac pump, it goes through 3 30amp fuses. I think those fuses may be the cause. They are 2 terminal fuses, I can hear and feel clicking in them once the fan and vac pump stop working. Think they may be the issue?
@@deanberger9597 if they click, they should be functioning. If they dont click, then that's when I'd suspect the fuses. You might have them wired up wrong. Give me like five minutes or so and I'll try and find which terminal is supposed to go to what
right, yeah that's all correct to the relay and from relays, the ground is correct too. I did replace the replays and same problem happened. It seems like I'm losing power to the relay. The series of 3 fuses run the positive(power) to the relays. I don't see any reason why the fuses would be clicking while they are suppost to be providing power to the relays toperate? is it possible the fuses are getting to hot and not working? because everything works once the car cools off. When its warmed up and hot, the fuses just click, and do not function.I know, iv been dealing with this for a year now lol

I’ve been looking at these but expensive in Australia, I may order one direct from the states , love the Cornutti on the mirror

This would come in handy for my 1981 Mercedes 240d and my 1964 Ford pickup truck f250. I just got a remote brake booster for it.

So u ran the hose from the pump to the carburetor then ran the other hose from the pump directly to the booster?
Question: Does the vacuum pump run all the time or only when it needs it?
There is a pressure switch, so not all the time. Don't forget to subscribe 😉

How do you tie your vacuum line coming off carb to vacuum pump line? Is it some sort of 2 way check valve?
@@synthesis4030 The vacuum pump has a built in check valve. Just add a check valve coming off of the carb or intake and then a T at the booster.
Hey, helpful video!

Can this canister get wet? I see it's mounted in the grille so I'm assuming it can get wet?
When wired to the ignition switch, the pump sounds weird. How actually did you wire the + to?
So in comparison to the canister how much better is it?
Can you vent crank case also wt it?
Great video. Can this canister be mounted horizontal. Instructions don’t say that I can’t. So I’m assuming I can.
Yes u can! Thanks for watching

Which do you like better this one from leeds or the Volvo pump?? Thanks
the leeds one is more self contained , the volvo pump is nice but i think now is sold all seperately and costs as much as the leeds..so either way

How’s this pump holding up seeing back and forth reviews? Thanks!
Good so far
Hey did you ever get your pump and how do you like it how is it holding up I just ordered mine
Would it be better to run the pump and canister together? Or is it un needed?
You can if you want..but not needed
how would you compare this pump to a hydroboost set up, I'am torn on which way to go thanks
This is much easier way to go..and the braking might be the same or very slightly better with hydroboost
I would have mounted it where the charcoal canister would go if the spot is empty.
Yeah u can do that..we just wanted to hide it..don't forget to subscribe
Is this better than the Volvo pump application?
I wouldn't say better..about the same, maybe this one is a little more quieter and comes in a nice case. Thanks for watching
There's gotta be a better place to put a massive air restrictor than infront of the radiator.
it doesn't restrict the air not one bit. It's nicely hidden and the car remains cool as ever. Don't forget to subsribe.
