I am 71 yr old woman who has been occasionally viewing your program. I think you guys are right on point for todays life. Life has to be simple, minimal and rich. That is the goal. Live a rich life, a full life, an enjoyable life. Yes it is possible and necessary
I am 66 & completely agree with you here. Wish these guys had been around when I was in the "corporate world". After so many losses, life has to become more simple so I can slow down.
To Sara from San Francisco (a voice caller), I deleted my Facebook account 2 years ago and have no intentions of ever getting back on. Best thing I ever did. I am baffled at why it took me so long to pluck up the courage to do it, all the negativity was there for so long it hurt my life more than it helped. I was so worried of having FOMO that I let it drag on for years, just in case!
I am SO looking forward to the maximal episode. Whatever topic I hear Jamie Wheal talking on, he always enlightens me to the further workings of myself and others as he makes his points and observations so clear and understandable. I had a few more ‘aha!’ moments listening to this too. It was also touching to see JFM so intent on Jamie’s words, in fact it looked like both he and Ryan were almost hypnotised at one point, that is the power of an articulate, intelligent yet most human and self-realised guest. Thank you for this content all of you, it gives me hope that I am not alone in my awareness of the abyss and my quest to make life mean something before it is over 🌹
Btw...I agree with the Opioid prescription situation though. My daughter was prescribed opioids for migraines as pain management in her late teens early twenties(lived on her own at 19...is an addict) and eventually went to shooting up heroin. Praise the Lord she's 3 years in recovery!
The caller Sara reminds me about the time I went to get a coffee and and a little note was taped to the counter that said “Osama Bin Laden is dead”. It confirmed that I didn’t need TV because if the big information is big enough I will hear about it. Also it’s really nice not to know every bad thing that’s happening in the world.
This came at the most perfect time in my life! Thank you so much! I still have the picture of us when you guys came to “The depot” in Salt Lake Utah. All the way back in October 2017. Can’t believe that it has already been so long. It was great chatting with both of you and hope you can go back out on tour again!
Thank you Joshua and Ryan for your wonderful contribution through your podcasts. I would like to make a small suggestion. Can you write the titles of the books mentioned by your guests and yourselves in the description? I’m not sure if you can do it without advertising it though.
I'm thankful for the medication prescribed to my son for ADHD. He no longer needs it. It helped him tremendously. I think it's important to go to a good doctor who also knows what they are doing. Mine is a psychiatrist who also believes in vitamin therapy. We did both pharma and vitamin therapy to heal my son.
Absolutely the best and most relevant, eye-opening episode I've watched on your channel. Great conversation. Thank you. #compassionineverything is #whatsmissing in #todaysworld #inanutshell Crazy hashtags, I know. LOL
I love this conversation, but there is a missing piece to keeping the "vibe high" etc. I think that the new age spirituality of meditating and focusing on your internal self is tethered to the fact that all humans are interrelated and so your inner work is actually helping the collective consciousness... AND when you are feeling so connected to your inner soul etc you are guided to take actions that benefit you AND your community/society as whole.. if someone isn't talking about that piece of this then yes that way of thinking stinks and is actually just ego/unconsciousness ruling instead of spiritual growth. With meditation etc there is goal to cultivate such connection to heart/source that you are able to look at the really terrible stuff inside of you and in the world and learn lessons to change without being pulled down so far that you can't act. If no action from strong connection to soul then it's not spirituality - it's just strengthening ego.. right?
Holy cow! I just had to pause and comment at this point "what about the 4 billion humans that are struggling?"..."we say declutter, you'll be fine!" ---- hilarious!
I wish Ryan would have made a distinction between end-of-the-world obsessed Evangelical Christianity and older, traditional Christian Churches, e.g. Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant Churches like Methodist, Lutheran, and Presbyterian. The latter DO NOT focus on the end of the world and are very much about service and compassion to the least of us, the poor, sick, lonely, and suffering in general. I think Jamie Wheal actually understands this distinction very well and is capable of complexity of thought where religion is concerned.
Great listening was out to grab a bite to eat busy day a guy came in saying people are hoarding food kind of loud sounded stressed i get it theres alot of stressers in the world
Great talk ... but the minimalist guys say it again and again the more you make $$$ the bigger the lifestyle you fuel . Why oh why wouldn’t people want a simple life ..... it’s right there in front of your eyes ....if only people can think back to the time they came into this world with less and it was less stress .....open your eyes ....simplistic is the way of the world
There will never be any meaning or purpose without God’s guidance. The one Who speaks of being charitable( obligatory and non-obligatory) and there will be reward in it. The one who speaks of giving to the poor, and the orphans, and the widows, (and animals)even if it is half a date, and the only thing you have to eat. To add water to your soup in order to give some to the neighbor. Who speaks of the poor entering Heaven first. Who speaks against hoarding. That the things of this world are only as a test as to who will do well with it. Who speaks to remind us that the grave will be empty except what is in the heart. This guest speaker has low dignity with the fowl language and is repulsive to my inner being. I studied with JW’s for two years and I am in understanding of their limited ideology although it is correctly monotheistic. Islam is the only Way, but mankind will never be perfect in any ideology. Perfection is only in Paradise. And the One Who owns it is the best Guide. I appreciate having a voice to try help correct the harmful value of things I learned in a poor and dysfunctional family. But without my faith, speaking of just things and people has little value, especially in the grave and beyond.

Jamie Wheal rips off our collective blinders and shows us the stark reality of ourselves and the world. He is a force for good.
Jamie is an amazing guest on your show! Well done!

I deleted mine about 10 years ago. I now use no social media except RUclips. Best. Choice. Ever.
If only there were more people on this earth like Jamie. Thanks Minimalist.

I really love to have and read your book. I hope it'll be available here in the Philippines.
May you be more blessed head simpletons 🙏
This was a journey. Well done.

Meaning of life is a really hard one. I really suffer a lot with this question so I am looking forward on listening to this now. Thank you!
When he said “the only question is whether or not to kill yourself”
me: 🥴
That will not make it onto my “to be” list 😄
Brilliant conversation. Thank you! 🙏

Wow! New studio!
Wish my Mom was more like Jenna's Mom. Still love her, though! :)
