I met my wife 25 years ago and we talked music and influences. We both agreed that this track was right up there. Sadly, she died 3 weeks ago at the age of 53..........love for us truly was a wonderful colour. God bless you my darling.💔
First heard this on Radio 1 on the bus back home from school back in 84. Bought it as soon as I could and it's still one of the best songs I've ever heard !
Nice story of your life. I was one year old back in 1984. Sadly, i first heard of this song in 2005 not in a radio but on internet when I embarked on a search for the best music from the 80's. This song is never played in Perú. You can listen to "birds fly" every once in a while.
This song is one of the greatest tunes of the 80's. Vastly underrated band. I'm sure a lot of people will stumble upon this track and think, god i remember this great tune, you never hear it on the radio enough. Best era for music, period.
Everyone will all know that humanity will have truly evolved, when humanity FINALLY realises that, THE definitive Anthem FOR all humanity, was written long ago, in 1884 by The Icicleworks! However easy it is to forget, still... **Love Is A Wonderful Colour** 😇
A through and through metalhead here, but saying i appreciate great music. This ia an absolute powerhouse of a song, as amazing today as it was when it was released nearly 40yrs ago, heard this as a teenager, still love it as much as i did then
As a classical singer; musician and composer, i agree, that as a metal head too, great music has no genre, just the talent to write and perform magic. 2023 is a graveyard for the classics, that is mocked by the talentless and the poor intellects, that dominate society today. R.I.P, as i dont think i will live long enough, to glory, at the re-birth of beautiful music.
@@craiglewis6145 The first three acts you named made a shitload of money in America and if you asked them who their influences were they would talk about Americans: we invented Rock and Roll after all. And Madonna left us to live in the UK and speak with a English accent.
40 years later, this is still one of a rare few songs that sends a shiver through me. This guy's got a rap sheet of absolutely timeless & meaningful classics. No exaggeration, McNabb's the best kept secret of ALL time...and my name's not Ian 😊
I was a young squaddie based at Lulworth when this came out. Me and my 3 roommates had a few days earlier chipped in for a new fangled radio clock alarm as we were often on early troop and had to be up at stupid o'clock to move wagons around. My abiding memory is being woken to this tune, an 80s classic.
Me too. Best part of 40 years on and it doesn't sound at all dated. My brother has just given me a lockdown cheer up present (was meant to be a Christmas 2020 present). It's a handwritten copy of the lyrics, written and signed by the great Mr McNabb himself. I cried!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I saw them play in SD at the Spirit in ‘84. I remember wondering how they got such a huge sound with only 3 players. I listened to that album that summer on replay. The songs are all still so fresh and wonderful 3 decades later.
Underrated band, beautiful song. I bought this as I thought it was great and played it a lot as a hopeful 'someone please find me' good luck charm... within a month, my first girlfriend.
Hugh Jones, met the man during a studio session with KOD and told him the Icicle Works first album was amazing...one of the best back then and now...great production from a great producer!
This was a great closing track to a great album. So vividly recall buying this album and “The Swing” by INXS at the same time from a record store in Muncie, Ind. Early July 1984. Just a few months before start of my senior year in high school. Some awesome memories.
Such a magnificent & brilliant song that I am ashamed to have misplaced all these years! Forgive me I will definitely hold dear at the forefront of my conscience of how beautiful this song is, and how wonderful the colour of love is! Love this song dearly! ♥️👍♥️👍
Songs like this take me to the days of saving pocket money. Saturday would be enough money for a wimpey burger and a top 40 single from the record shop next door. Bus home unable to wait to put it on the turntable. Happy days them
Soooo good!! Spoilt for Liverpool bands... Mighty Wah, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Flock of Seagulls, Space, Pale Fountains, Echo and the Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes...what a time the 80’s 😊
The whole album is a miracle... soaring, intimate, heartfelt, lovely.. amazing lyrics and musicianship! I have the CD from the 80s, will never part with it! I also coverted the vinyl to MP3 as there are some variations betwen the UK CD and the American vinyl release.

SO very sorry for your loss Andy. You must have some wonderful memories of shared music favourites.
Sorry to hear that fella x
Great track and a lady with great taste. Really sorry for your loss, no age at all. Hope you’re as ok as you can be.
I'm really sorry to hear that. Upsetting.
Sorry about your loss
Nobody can take your memories away from you.
Keep ye chin up feller 👍🏻
what feels crazy about this song is that 40 years ago i thought i was the only one who appreciated it
Such an awesome song that stands up to this day! It takes me right back to the wonderful songs of the 80’s when I was in my 20’s - oops my age! 🤣
To my mind this is one of the most beautifully melodic pop songs ever written. And when the song goes into overdrive at the end - OMG!
When music was proper music. Another classic from the early 80s. A golden era for the 45 single.
One of the greatest songs of the Eighties. A classic. 👏👏👏
That's for definite.
Totally agree!!!!! 👍👍👍
yep but rarely heard nowadays sadly
Without a doubt
I love it when he comes in on a higher note on the chorus at the end “take my confidence to guide you!” Ugh so devastating
He was certainly using the reserves at the bottom of his lungs lol, but sometimes its the raw bits like that what makes a song ! 😄
Another great band to come out of Liverpool.
I agree these and lotus eaters for me.
The first picture of you is a great song!
Early 80s is the best era bar none!
@@MegaBerghaus and The Pale Fountains

listen to THE BLINDERS great young band with this enthusiasm.
Brillant song brings back so many memories of what such fantastic songs we had in the 80's..Definately the best era for music..
1970s the best decade for music.
Quite probably the greatest pop song ever written
Mmm
Agree
Wudnt go that far

This song caught hold of me in the eighties and stayed with me throughout the years. The funny thing is that I thought I was alone in appreciating it.
Me too!
Still sounds magnificent. One of those truly special songs.
38 years ago...how time flies. Seems like yesterday this came out. Great song. Great band.

One of the biggest puzzles in the world is how the hell weren't The Icicle Works bigger? Bonkers!
because normies couldnt tell the difference betw IW and tears for fears

I probably met you that night...wonderful days🙂
Ian McNabb having a very similar look to Curt Smith of Tears for Fears back then! A great song this one.
Chorus is immense, loved this track as a bairn.
I agree , the chorus is wonderful
Another top drawer tune from the 80s.. what a great time to be alive..
An all time classic. It never ages.
Gawd, I'm momentarily fifteen agaain - brilliant song.
I think it is one of the greats of the '80's.
Just an incredible song.

Oh…. The feelings and memories this song evokes…to be in your early twenties in the 80’s… I could cry at how this song makes me feel..
Saw them many many times and every time was a treasure..and man could they bang it out..proper roof rattlers...

A forgotten 80's classic.
This is fantastic. Shoulda been massive.
My favorite song ever , danced to this at a party in the 80s ,it still inspires me 😊
Just one of those feel good tracks.
Most under rated band in history.
