    I met my wife 25 years ago and we talked music and influences. We both agreed that this track was right up there. Sadly, she died 3 weeks ago at the age of 53..........love for us truly was a wonderful colour. God bless you my darling.💔

    First heard this on Radio 1 on the bus back home from school back in 84. Bought it as soon as I could and it's still one of the best songs I've ever heard !

      Nice story of your life. I was one year old back in 1984. Sadly, i first heard of this song in 2005 not in a radio but on internet when I embarked on a search for the best music from the 80's. This song is never played in Perú. You can listen to "birds fly" every once in a while.

    This song is one of the greatest tunes of the 80's. Vastly underrated band. I'm sure a lot of people will stumble upon this track and think, god i remember this great tune, you never hear it on the radio enough. Best era for music, period.

    A through and through metalhead here, but saying i appreciate great music. This ia an absolute powerhouse of a song, as amazing today as it was when it was released nearly 40yrs ago, heard this as a teenager, still love it as much as i did then

      As a classical singer; musician and composer, i agree, that as a metal head too, great music has no genre, just the talent to write and perform magic. 2023 is a graveyard for the classics, that is mocked by the talentless and the poor intellects, that dominate society today. R.I.P, as i dont think i will live long enough, to glory, at the re-birth of beautiful music.

    40 years later, this is still one of a rare few songs that sends a shiver through me. This guy's got a rap sheet of absolutely timeless & meaningful classics. No exaggeration, McNabb's the best kept secret of ALL time...and my name's not Ian 😊

    I was a young squaddie based at Lulworth when this came out. Me and my 3 roommates had a few days earlier chipped in for a new fangled radio clock alarm as we were often on early troop and had to be up at stupid o'clock to move wagons around.
    My abiding memory is being woken to this tune, an 80s classic.

      Me too. Best part of 40 years on and it doesn't sound at all dated. My brother has just given me a lockdown cheer up present (was meant to be a Christmas 2020 present). It's a handwritten copy of the lyrics, written and signed by the great Mr McNabb himself. I cried!

    I saw them play in SD at the Spirit in ‘84. I remember wondering how they got such a huge sound with only 3 players. I listened to that album that summer on replay. The songs are all still so fresh and wonderful 3 decades later.

    Hugh Jones, met the man during a studio session with KOD and told him the Icicle Works first album was amazing...one of the best back then and now...great production from a great producer!

    This was a great closing track to a great album.
    So vividly recall buying this album and “The Swing” by INXS at the same time from a record store in Muncie, Ind. Early July 1984. Just a few months before start of my senior year in high school. Some awesome memories.

    Songs like this take me to the days of saving pocket money. Saturday would be enough money for a wimpey burger and a top 40 single from the record shop next door. Bus home unable to wait to put it on the turntable. Happy days them

    The whole album is a miracle... soaring, intimate, heartfelt, lovely.. amazing lyrics and musicianship! I have the CD from the 80s, will never part with it! I also coverted the vinyl to MP3 as there are some variations betwen the UK CD and the American vinyl release.
