I'm afraid I don't even care about the products any more, I just tune in every week to hear you guys jam.
Ville Siivola and I thought it was only me...
Yes exactly! The title could literally be "PETE FOUND THIS 2,5 QUID CHINESE GUITAR" And it would still be great.
Same here
Agree, but the info on the products provided each show has made us definitely sway one way or the other!
Whereas I skip every jam and watch for the review and the chat/banter! Something for everyone, I feel :D
Just a heads-up lads: Music City Bridge make compensated wraparound tailpiece for these guitars that will completely resolve any intonation issues. The hardware was designed with input from the legendary Tom Bukovac. They have two models: "Stud Finder" and "The Savvy". Use Stud Finder on Gibsons with wraparound tailpieces from 1953 through 1960. The Savvy should be used on models from 1961 onward and is compatible with both slight offset and parallel studs designs
I have one on my special but it’s still a nut issue at the end of the day. Les Paul’s need the adjustment
@@trentgardner8257 The nuts on both my Les Pauls are just fine. Get the nut cut properly and make sure to lubricate the string path to reduce friction. No poinks and plonks. Add the compensated bridge and a really good setup and ya golden. That said, my Special still has its original lightning bridge. I'm rather fond of them.
There's something truly awesome about the sound of a p90. A very versatile and underrated pickup
Lee your playing gets better every week ! That opening jam was killer
funny
It definitely was!
the purple rain fit in so nice in opening jam
Chemistry while playing is better than talent alone
This is definitely Lee’s Mum’s account 😂
That def leppard joke had me pissing my pants at work. Good job.
I hear you!
@Spiral Architect I agree. Plus Def Leppard did use their neck pickups occasionally. Sadness kills the superman 8(
You pissed your pants at work, how'd you explain that ?
Oh my...
It was in pretty poor taste actually.
I’m a drummer and I found that opening jam soooo satisfying to listen to 👍 Has now become my number one rock practice jam loop. Lovely stuff guys - beautiful playing 👌😎
It's Purple Rain.......definnitley a pretty progression.
You guys are the best at demonstrating gear, period. Two examples of how you explain what clearly needs to be explained to most of your viewers. 1. TV Yellow. 2. Wrap around bridge. Great job!
DP sneaks Prince riffs into his playing so much. I love it.
One of the best videos ever! The jams, the purple hearts, the overtones, Lee's tremendous risk-taking-and-nailing-it skill... If I could, I'd have liked it a fuckload of times. Stellar!
Keep it up!
That first jam just made me want to pick up one of my guitars and join in.
Secondly it made me ask the question why I didn’t own a P90 guitar and if the PPI money comes through can I convince my wife why I need a fourth electric guitar.
Tim Jones it sounds different
Don’t tell her and make out it’s one you’ve had for years. She won’t know the serial number on the back donates the year.
@@chrischamberlain2168 So true... Been there, done that and will do it again. You get a thumbs up, bro'.
@parallax3d why stop at 7, I have 15 and still looking for the elusive guitar. Don't tell her, she wont notice one more.
Been watching all you guys for several years and this is one of THE BEST Sounds, Loops, and Feeling I’ve heard and/or Felt...Love P90s!!!
I have the blue sg and it is absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to get the tv yellow LP. Those p90 with a great amp and boost are incredible.
Love the channel. Long time viewer (during the “dreds” years) and subscriber. Heading your way from Nebraska USA when I retire to see the store and spend some money. Keep it coming!!!
As much as I love my humbucker loaded guitars. I always find myself gravitating to my P90 loaded guitars. No other pickup style to my ears have the same fullness and bite, especially when using a dirty tone.
Something about jamming with Danish Pete brings out the best in Lee's playing. Tone, touch, bluesiness. And Lee's pretty great at dialing in different tones on that Jr.
One of the BEST ENDINGS EVER~ Both of you!!
I need that TV Yellow Les Paul Special... I haven't been this smitten with a guitar since I got my tele
You sir, have excellent taste. Teles, LP Specials and 335s are the holy trinity in my eyes
I'm definitely grabbing that guitar. The favorite of mine of all the Gibsons. Yew! Gotta add something with P 90s to the family too. :)
You will not regret it! Bought a P90 special about a year ago and it ushered my ‘58 Standard reissue out of the door. Rings like a bell, cleans up amazingly and is savage when you open it up. So much fun.
@@TheJimty Wow, I'm actually contemplating the same but it sounds insane... I have a 58 CS Les Paul and it sounds the best. But lately I've been feeling that it feels a bit too delicate and awkward to play for me, not comfortable so I always end up playing my Telecaster instead. So I was thinking of selling the LP 58 and getting a Special instead. What is your experience compared to the 58?
Hello Dan - I don’t miss my 58 at all to be honest. It was a great guitar - I tried a bunch and it was the best one I played - but like you I didn’t ever feel comfortable playing it. It felt like a piece of furniture. I feel much more comfortable and inspired playing the Special - it just has the tone (and range of tones) I’m looking for, has better sustain and feels more alive to me. Play a bunch and you will find the one. Unfortunately “the one” for me was a custom shop too, so the 58 had to make way. I don’t regret it though.
I recently acquired the SG Junior and it's an amazing rock monster.
Santana recorded Black Magic Woman on an SG with p90’s....to this day still his best recording.... of course the late great recording engineer genius Wally Heider .from Germany, used his one of a kind recording truck to put it all together......boy those were the days in the Bay Area....
Man I love the playing here, and that last shot of Lee hugging the SG had me in stitches
What an guitar intro guys!! Felt like I’m back in the summer 1995 riding down the highway sunset
Haha Pete always manages to sneak Purple Rain into his solos!!
That Pelham Blue SG looks soooooooo gorgeous !
I played a bunch of those in the States and they really surprised me, the quality was great and there was so much vibe.
That pelham blue sg is GREAT looking omg!
It's a good look. VIntage have one that's got a Vibrola (I think that's what they are called) tailpiece on it. Looks great.
It really is
Probably the best looking guitar in universe, I am in love.
After watching this a few dozen times and being a Epiphone guy for years I purchased a used Gibson LP 50s Tribute (for actually less money than a new Epi LP Standard Pro). There really is a tone and playability difference between the two brands. Epiphone is good Gibson is great (even on the more affordable models). Epiphone does win in the looks department over base model Gibson’s but you can’t really look at them while playing so....
Funny to read about your LP 50s Tribute. I just found one here in Columbus OH and fell in love with the chunky neck and the P90 tone. Just can't swallow the $900 yet tho.. :(
@@brianruyack7632 yep the prices have shot up (nearly doubled) in the last 4 years or so. It used to be fairly easy to find them used for $500
Saw these were announced ordered the custom shop LP special. 🤤 such a beast of a guitar.
Never had a P90 guitar before but they sound so fantastic clean and full on assault dirty.
Always a pleasure when you two demo guitars , can actually hear the tones of the guitars instead of obliterated by massive overdrive distortion
Both guys had some amazing playing in this! That Pelham Blue SG though.... Oh my! What a gorgeous guitar!
The T.V. yellow has two true stories of it's history. The one most repeated is the one Cap told here, the other is that part of the making it cheaper process was in cheaper finishes. At the time these guitars were being made, that "blonde" color lacquer was popular in the furniture making industry, especially on televisions, (T.V. yellow) which means there was a large amount of that color being made and it was available for cheap. The fact it worked great on black and white television was a happy coincidence.
i fell in love with those guitars now omg p90 are so underrated
Johnny Thunders as well.A well known TV Model user.love him or hate him, he played a large part in making this model a punk rock icon.
Born to lose
Just something about the sound of a P90 in a rocking jam!
I find it odd that a lot of comments think these guitars are over priced. I can’t think of a single other US manufacturer that can make a premium quality, gloss nitro finish, set neck, hard case included guitar for a lower price... in fact, I can’t think of any Far Eastern guitars that can offer that either! Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!
Look at a Studio in Smokehouse Burst. Then look at a Tribute in Honeyburst. Then finally look at the Junior in Vintage Tobacco Burst... Really? No idea hey? Of course people think they're over priced..
Damn I'm not even saying they shouldn't be that price. They can charge what they want... But saying "I find it odd" !?? ...Trolling levels of arrogance.
I said good day sir But the Tributes aren’t gloss finish & the Studios are about the same price & pretty plain looking. Oh well, I thought they were great & I just feel Gibson get a lot of unfair abuse. Each to his own I guess.
@@andertons The STUDIOS are plain looking!? Compared to that Junior..!? Fine yeah. Whatever man.
These are supposed to be worhorse guitars. At 12hundred quid they are simply not. Of course people are not on the same budget and £1200 mean different burden to different people but in terms of actual quality (playability, durabilty, sound) these are hard to justify. Whatever you may think about the obnoxiousness of Gibson.
TheChinovnik that’s not really my point. Anyone looking for affordable, great value guitars probably isn’t looking at Gibson (or any other American made guitar). My point was that I didn’t think any other American guitar maker was able to make anything better for less money & therefore it’s unfair to say that these guitars are over priced. But I agree that these are for guitarists looking to buy an authentic throw back to an old guitar design rather than for guitarists looking for an affordable modern day workhorse.
That blue SG, OMG the tone... I need a moment.
I've been listening to your show for years. Thanks brothers. A bad day playing guitar is better than a good day all together. 😎🎸
The Les Paul Junior. Wow!
It’s the wonderful ”third voice” right in between a Fender and a Gibson HB guitar.
Gibson has not made me very happy lately but its nice to see 'the good stuff' being offered.
Wish i had BOTH of those Jrs.
g mat Bad Gibson!
It’s just wonderful to see you two playing with so much joy, fantastic intro.
TV Yellow Special with p90's and neck binding?.... About. Bloody. Time!!! :)
Mark Hoskins and a terrible tail piece that makes the entire thing useless.
Dexter Rutecki idk about Gibson but I had a rocknroll relic with one tailpiece. No tuning issues at all. No qc issues but was overpriced as well but played perfect. Gibson said stop making them or we will sue you so I got the last one. It played like butter but I sold it because the neck sticks so far to the left it was uncomfortable at least for me.
@@alexnelson8 I have a Junior from 2013 with one of those tailpieces and it intonates perfectly fine. After all, it never bothered Keef or a whole host of other pro players. :)
Mark Hoskins fair enough. Different strokes for different folks. I also wouldn’t want a McCarty PRS bridge.
@@alexnelson8 Yeah definitely. I don't get on well with floating trems. They just don't work for me! :P
Aggh I'm saving for a holiday stop tempting me with guitars like these! ;)
The fuzz on the SG jr was sick!
At 23:41 the finish on that Les Paul is shocking!
In a good or in bad way?
@@colinrobinson9674 I wouldn't consider lumps and ripples to be a good thing.
@@SteveBjorck don't know, internet is mad
What a glorious intro, might be my favorite ever
Nah, I still go back to the opening jam of Pete and Joss when they were reviewing some Richie Kotzen gear. That was incredible
That was a Taylor Swift song sooooo...
My favorite opening jam as of yet. Killer job fellas!
Damn that beginning jam got me goosebumps for sure, especially on Valentine's Day 😁
Great jam guys. Like the postman you always deliver.
Played a DC Special last week at guitarguitar & it was the best sound ever. Pity I can't afford one. P90's ROCK!
Ok Lee, I’m just gonna say it. That LP special tone just works with your playing style and you should make that your number one. Just my opinion, great job 👍👍
sounds awesome, man the Gibson tone gets me every time.
Mick Ralphs & Ian Hunter turned me on to the Gibson Les Paul Junior and as an avid Mott / Bad Co fan I would never sell mine. Awesome guitar!
The jam at the beginning is legitimately enjoyable to listen to.
Holy crap, that is a great intro! Love the playing.
Finally. No one on youtube(that I can find) has given the Les Paul Special and Junior a proper review. I’ve literally been checking in here and there for months
That jam at the beggining was just... wow! It sounded beautiful!
That opening riff was a very motivational and powerful riff. It was amazing
Great jam. Absolutely love that SG Jr.
The stereo panning of the two guitars is pure gold
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Seth Lover's aim in creating the PAF humbucker was to make a noise-free replacement for P-90s. All these many years later and the "lowly and noisy" P-90 is not only still here, but seems to rock harder than ever.
I also remember a Schecter catalog which featured a PT (Schecter's T-type guitar) which sported a humbucker bridge pickup, a Strat-style single coil in the middle, and a P-90 neck pickup. I'd LOVE to get my hands on a guitar with THAT configuration!
Out of the guitars you demo'ed, which one(s) would I like? Well, for me there's only one choice: The Les Paul Special! I personally don't consider single-pickup guitars, and I prefer the Les Paul shape to the SG shape hands down! That said, all 4 rock like a mutha!
Great jams, great info, great guitars and great comedy! What's not to like? Killer job, guys!😎❤️️🎸‼️
Love the alt/glam rock intro! Really shows what this type of pickup does other than blues
The Captain's playing has matured so much in the 8 years or so. Such a pleasure
Love mine I got from you the other month. Fitted bare knuckle Nantucket pickup and is now even more killer
Of course now I have to check those out!
I could listen to that opening jam all day
You two are having so much fun in the sandpit !
That intro was pure amped up DFS summer sale and I love it.
Bought my new junior from you guys a week or two ago... love it! P-90 is amazing and the tone through my blues jr is fantastic. Loved the Jam....
Great opening jam , boys! We LIKE over here in L.A. from mtw and 99 in Del Rey, California. Anderton's fans forever.
Probably my favorite opening jam yet! Thanks for the awesome videos!
The jr is such a badass guitar. In my exp only people who haven't played one through a good amp don't love a Jr and for the price. So much grunt and character.... love my 2010 jr
Sweet intro jam! Great guitars. I need a LP special!
Everyone is complaining of the pricing, but guys, these aren’t like the DC specials. These have hardwired electronics and no PCB crap. These aren’t far off from the custom shop versions for thousands more. All that considered, they’re a steal. Extremely well made. I own the LPJ. Simply gorgeous. The craftsmanship is top notch.
this has to be one of the best opening jams these guys have done.
Have the new Les Paul Junior, happy to report that it is NOT neck heavy. It has a nice weight to it, and is well balanced when playing while standing.
17:00 "Is that not Def Leppard?"
Yellow LP Special, red SG Jr. for me, plz.
Wouldn't it just be great to have one of those... or all of them? Can't stop staring at the TV yellow!
4:04 Anderton's "bromance" going on heavily between the captain and Danish Pete! LOL!
Some magic about the Captain and Pete with Gibson jrs in a video. Well done.
I've got no interest in regular Les Pauls, but these are my kind of Les Pauls! Well, if there's an Epiphone version because I've also got no interest in paying that much for a guitar...
There is an epiphone version, and they are verrrry cheap. You'll love them!
Also "Vintage" makes some really fine replicas of these guitars, not all models but they sound really great, probably even better than epiphone's
JStrange13 theres no epiphone les paul model like these currently
Bout time a video was done on these models. However, there was no need to cover the history behind them because it's been told and written about enough. Just play man!
Epiphone made an Awesome Junior version ( Custom shop Les Paul Junior 57 Reissue - glued neck) back in 2006 , But it had an p 100 ( stacked double coil p 90 ) pickup in it , swap it with a original p90 its identical to ther Gibson Junior .
Lee! That has got to be one of the BEST solos you've ever played out of all the Andertons videos! (Around 15:30) Nice!
P-90's are absolute rock and roll flamethrowers. Very under-rated and under-used these days.
Indeed! They are! I was a humbucker lover but I'm turning myself day by day into a P90's lover.
Man, that intro was awesome.
For the longest time I always thought P 90s were for jazz and jazz only I’ve been opened up to a world of tonal variety. It’s awesome.
I just love juniors and specials. I have a DC special but still wish to get each of those models. Great review guys.
I just bought a SG Special on Reverb. It comes in tomorrow or Tuesday. Nothing beats P-90s.
The intro was amazing
Holy Smokes! Lee's (Steely Dan?) tone at 14:30 was SWEET! Just sold that Special right there! Well, just put it at the top of my shortlist for when the money comes. 😉
You had me at hello. I loved this video. I have a weakness for Juniors and Specials. NOTHING sounds like a P-90, baby!
My favourite guitar here is either the T.V. Yellow Special *or* that Tobacco Junior, which is just gorgeous. Both have there own thing and unique tone. I would really have a hard time deciding between the two- I’d want them both!
Nice jam and cool guitars
I believe this is my favorite of all the videos I've seen so far. Great jam guys.
I'd have a difficult time picking between the two Specials. I lean toward the LPS but that SGS in Pelham Blue... The more I see it the more I like it.
The tone of the jam in the beginning was just great. Juniors. With p90 is the holy grail.
that pelham blue SG is so gorgeous
What an intro!
I really hope Pete satisfies his P90 GAS soon!
I played the LP special and it felt wonderful, although if I was to buy one it'd be the SG.
And, oh yes, pelham blue! So... authentic... sigh
Epiphone LP Special I P90. Love the simplicity of the intonated bridge with insert towards bottom & wrap around to the nut design. Mahogany Body, Mahogany bolt on neck, Rosewood fretboard. Worn Black, Cherry or TV Yellow.
AND WOW! They sound so good!
Pete. Was that the "if you play a wrong note then play it again, people will think you meant it then " trick? It's amazing how many I have to play :)
Repetition legitimizes, repetition legitimizes, repetition legitimizes.
actually jeff beck first said that 40 years ago
It doesn't work if you just repeat the track.
Brilliant! 😆 me too!
@@davidyoung1962 sure it wasn't Eddie? I know he said to smile.
'I got my first real six-string

Sweet home of Werewolf of London.
Lee the 'privates' with Justin are paying off big for you man! Good stuff guys!
That closing jam was bonkers!
I love the sound of P-90s! It is just soooo gooooooood.... Or maybe it is Pete... Or... Maybe, both?
Awesome intro jam!
