This is a great question I only ever vaguely answer for myself per playthrough, usually ends up being a default answer of "Hull Parts" but I like the process you go through to narrow down a good answer.
Thanks!
Werit Buddy! You did it again!! By far the best video that goes into economy basics ala supply & demand, and gives insights into what kind of station one should build!!
I keep making the early game mistake of throwing out an energy cell plant but they really aren't feeding a starving economy so I will be revisiting that station to make sure I am actually supplying a need. I think alot of us just put up something for the sake of quick profits without taking a deeper dive into what's actually needed.
Thanks for yet another gem, please keep 'em coming!!!
Thanks!
Great Stuff Werit ,, A valuable asset to Egosoft ... Going to buy a Buffalo I think after in a previous vid you was advised not to get an Incarcatura,,, maybe you already had one.. Keep em coming.
Thanks, I did already have one, it's for a special video I keep putting off :)
@@WeritGaming ..Well bought the Buffalo, sold the Buffalo, will go capture a free one, heavy investment.
@@greenarmchair3211 haha, there is always that option.
as a trade-challenged player I really appreciate this straight-talking tutorial
Do you have any tips for finding good trades or what kind of stations to build?
You can include all wares in the trade filter and then uncheck the ones you don't want to see as you pan around; it's kind of jank but it accomplishes the behavior you want.
Yeah, it would. Thanks!
Best video i have seen for x4 so far 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much! Extremely helpful for a new player
every playthrough I have done it's always hull parts, weapon components, and advanced electronics that never go out of style for stations.
Thanks for the video! I was not aware of the trade filter functionality. Then again, I've only been playing X4 for a week or so. :)
I've never found a "good" source of any gas that didn't seem relatively miniscule, in comparison to minerals. Thanks for the video Werit.
Yeah, gas is weird in its volume. I understand the way it is may be more realistic, but some standard measurement between them all might be good.
...gas mining seems odd compared to ore or silicon at first. The enlightenment comes when you manage to connect a scarce resource like helium further away than the 5 hops station mining can cover with a desperate customer, i.e. shipyard/wharf.
Expert Autominer works or if you can't get the pilots simply build a factory, i.e.claytronics between the helium system and the customer. Happy Profitssss 😅..🤧..😷
@@Mondfischli Yep, you guessed the video I am working on right now actually ;)
@@Mondfischli One issue I see though with the station idea. There isn't really a way to deal in raw materials. I can collect Methane at a station, but my traders can't sell it. Or am I missing something?
@@WeritGaming ...not unless egosoft finally allows player trading stations 😁
But you can sell refined and/or intermediates . The next shipyard will buy quantum tubes from you when they're out of stock.
The same way you can expand your Empire into one of the xenon Systems, i.e. faulty logic and beyond - plenty of ore, silicon and hydrogen but no helium or methane.
...well, yes, you have to kick the xenon out first 😆..🤧..😷
7:44 you can use sector list mod to see what system have what resource
I know it's a bit late for a question😅, but I just started playing the game a few days ago, been wondering once the construction of engine parts factory has been completed, should I attach L trading ships to sell the finished products or I could just let 'em be and eventually the NPC from that sector would buy the parts themselves?🤔
Anything works, really. Ships from other factions will come to buy your products regardless, unless you restrict trading access to your ships only. In reality you should allow everyone to trade your produced good unless you fully use it up internally in your factory chain
Great video, Thanks!!
Thanks!
The big bulk of your trade profit in my experience will be Fill Shortages. The hardest part about that is getting a 2 star pilot.
Seminar seminar seminar....
I'm sorry if it's an obvious question but how did you move the trade filter window into top left corner mine is in the middle of my screen
What's frustrating about x4 is the amount of micromanaging you have to do to sell wares. I have a couple of stations producing food rations, hull parts and silicone wafers + smart chips, each having 2 or 3 medium traders assigned to it,but they are hardly selling anything right,do I have to manually sell to various stations to make any money.
Unless your manager is 3 stars or above, I too find some level is needed. Sometimes it's like they just don't see trade opportunities they should. I wish there was more in-game feedback on why.
Great video as always!
Thanks!
I seriously don't understand why the trade filter is past tense (bought/sold). Also the game really need to re work this to show current buy/sell offers plus not just show the "best" option but show each and every option.
There are definitely some areas where they could add some quality of life features with trading.
I really am excited for the next dlc. Are there any rumors aboit the release date?
So far i checked the shipyard and what they are buying, so i decide my production to that.
Trading on its own is quite strange its just so hard to get a 3 star captan. In both of my gamestarts i allways startet with auto miners.
I think the end of Q1 is still a good bet. There will be a video on that and some other news tomorrow :)
Yeah, autotraders are tough to come by. I still just have the one in this game. I am very close to having 3 though.
@@WeritGaming Fun fact i tried to facetank a Xenon K with my Raptor(full plasma) and i was suprised how fast the K melted
@@ingrimmschboindil1302 I sometimes see that, then other times a k gets wrecked by a station. I'm not sure why.
Question. How do I keep one manual trade ship highlighted to give multiple trade runs without going through the list of existing mining/trade ships for every individual trade run..? Durrrr watched vid again ..right click.. Durrr..!!!
Happy to help ;)
Watch out,Map spoilers
