@@THUGPUTIN I'm going to use mine for smaller games. So will things like overwatch, fall guys and valorant be ok? I think it's mainly just load times. Actual gameplay looks ok.
"... you can read to them, you can write from them" - CPU modder, 2018. I don't think I've read anything to an SD card before. I don't think they like my stories. I do however, have no trouble reading from them and writing to them.
Hey, excellent video! You totally should do a "2018 how to chose an sd card that fits your needs". I think SD card are perfect for very thin laptops (with a small ssd) and emulation (and maybe some indie games). Beside emulation... meeeeh.
This is more complicated than I expected I thought all SD card and micro SD cards were the same besides size all I wanted to know if can put my games on SD card, I'm killing my PC space I got 128gb microSD card, for example put GTA 5 on it... 72gb is the size of game, my computer can't us SD card on microSD my microSD card came with the adaptor SD card
im planning on once i get a job when i turn 16 (minimum age to work in most places in my state) to buy a m.2 ssd and a sd card to increase storage on my laptop (ive found a 170 mb/s write / read sd)
And downloading games in the first place, My test has borderlands 3 with dlc took 4hrs to download and install to my 512gb sd card, same thing only 25mins on the ssd Also performance from the sd card was laggy just walking or aiming guns around and loading the warp from place to place was about 50% or more from the sd card
I have an sd card with 475 gb of space total. I just want to download a few games, like apex and aim training games that I will most likely play around 5 times a year. Apex will be the only high usage game, but I won't be playing it a lot because I honeslty dont like it, I just play it because of my friend when he gets bored of random squads. Would I be able to play them? I don't really care the load times, but if it takes too long for me to get into a game, as if im playing mw on a potato then I might not play. I just need a good answer to see if I can play. Edit: The sd card was my dads, and he had a load of movies downloaded on it on 1080p and I think a few 4k, would that affect the load times? I am asking because I know now that apex is on nintendo switch and you can download games onto an sd card or micro sd card from the nintendo switch. And it doesnt effect the gameplay when changing from switches. So I am able to play correct?
What about load times in online multiplayer? Let's say the initial game load has already happened and now you're online gaming. In between matches are the load times gonna have people waiting on me? My 2022 g14 has a micro sd card reader and although I also have an extra ssd that I can plug into with an enclosure, a micro sd is virtually the same as internal storage as opposed to having an enclosure hanging off the side of the laptop. Visually its definitely a clean option that you can kind of just plug in and forget about. I think it would be a good way to prioritize games as well. Keep my favorites on the laptop itself and put the ones that aren't my favorite on the micro sd
I just bought a HP stream 14 labtop a day ago for video editing but I think I'm trying to make it a gaming labtop so I downloaded steam and I was playing a game and it worked it was just super choppy and laggy because my computer was low on space so I decided to put my SD card in and it downloaded halfway then when it got to the 2nd download it said it cant download on a FAT 32 am I just using the wrong SD card?
You're right though, a 1tb mechanical hard drive used only cost me 37 cad and probably gonna be a better deal than a high end SD card with a cd/dvd tray to hard drive bay converter, lmao.
technically it will work as the small micro cards are very similar to the full sized sd cards but sd cards are never the most recommended options for gaming

Whos wondering this because you plan on adding a SD card to the Steam Deck
me lol
It's just loading time difference... As long as your not playing multiplayer like warzone you'll be fine.. Sd cards are now faster and affordable..
same here lol^^
I'm buying the base model so I'm seeing how this emmc type will affect me.
Apparently it's mainly just load times.

Yes I've tried this and they don't seem too interested in my stories.
I was literally asking this exact question when I looked it up and found this vid

why are you testing FPS and not load times ?????????? WTF

They work wel when converting old ipod classics
Can you do a comparison between micro sd card and a HDD in terms of overall performance in windows and gaming performance
Don't do hardware-intensive games on an SD card. Other than that have at it

Retro game library on a cartridge? Worth it for style points. I've got a bunch of old disks I can graduate from with ease.
my question is: I want to play sims with my MacBook Air without the sound of the fan. Using the SD card can help with that?
no
This is a joke right
Solution: ditch the Macbook bud, its overpriced anyway

Only stats? No in-game demonstrations?
Save older and 2d games on SD card because it wont be too slow and save AAA games on NVME
They should selling on sd cards. As some us still like a physical copy.
8:10 it says the "devision" 😛
LOL omg how did I miss that
when I move games to my sd card on my computer, it would say that it's write protected. do you know what that means?
I Have an trash 5400 rpm Notebook HDD and it can't handle installing too big media at once
So my Sd card would be nicer for games xD
