Would a fake Sea Dweller be a deep fake?
oh god....lol
Well played

love this comment
It might be hard to fathom…
Not a cheap Omega but a very expensive Swatch - genius
Eco-friendly plastic 🤣🤣🤣 Bio-ceramic, non serviceable so please recycle !
Exactly! Finly someone, who see it may way. But.. you know. I bought 2 of them anyway..
Accessible Omega for the everyday person, genius.
@Fera Castra camping but it's not.. it's just a swatch with an Omega sticker. Like saying your Civic is a F1 car because you slapped an Oracle decal sides .
@@OntarioBearHunter But thats exactly what he is saying..
Seems everyone thinks the MoonSwatch launch was a disaster apart from Omega and Swatch who are absolutely delighted with the surge in sales for both Swatch watches and Omega Speedmasters.
What? Creating hype and scarcity is a bad thing?! Someone tell Rolex 😂. It was marketing genius.
What report did you see mentioning a “surge in sales” for Swatch watches and Speedmasters? The half year report doesn’t break down sales by brand or by model
Launch was such a “disaster” they have literally sold every watch that has been made available haha
@@roycedot it is still impossible to buy it though. I went to the store 5 times the past 3 months and everytime they get new inventory, it gets instantly sold out within the day because someone more anticipating then me would come and buy it before me.
I’ve not felt the need to buy a Swatch or another Omega since the MoonSwatch launch.
I had the same "better suited to a G Shock" thought, and if G Shock did make it, you'd best believe that the bars WOULD move, and probably to the sounds of ambient noise.
Both PP and AP are milking on the Genta design but in a disrespectful way. The spirit of the Nautilus is the watch being made in steel. And for the AP, it is taking the design to a whole level of tackiness. It's almost like they are running out of ideas a long time ago.
The Spirit of Nautilus is a steel LADIES watch. It was NEVER designed for men.
That Bugatti Chiron -wink,wink- monstrosity which looks like a thick insect and costs an astronomical amount... yes that one!
you're sooo right about the Omega Swatch - I thought I'm over it, but then I got mine in Singapore, even queued for it. My original intention was to get a "cheap" Speedmaster for my travels - and I have to admit, it catches even more attention than my original Speedmaster
"Cheap Speedmaster"...lol
Is is good or bad to attract attention ? I prefer to avoid attracting attention and remaining discreet but…
@@patrickjean-philippe7679 not sure what's better, depends on personality, I think - however, I didn't expect it and was quite surprised.
@@patrickjean-philippe7679
'But' what?
I would think it would be embarrassing to spot someone with such an abomination on his wrist. A Moonswatch, worn by 'PeacockBro' - can't make it up.
"but tom, hold your cynicism for a second!"
"no"
😂
Contents as I watch:
1:30 - Richard Mille Tourbillon Smiley
3:03 - Omega Speedmaster mars time
4:49 - Rolex Green Lefty GMT Master II
6:19 - Tudor Ranger
7:36 - Moser Genesis blockchain watch.
10:38 - Tag Heuer Mario Kart chronograph and chronograph tourbillon
12:13 - Rolex Deepsea Challenge
13:50 - Patek Nautilus 5811 "do you mind if I stay and crash on your couch?"
15:09 - AP Royal Oak Music Edition
16:49 - the fucking moonswatch
my own commentary:
* People would've put up their homes as collateral for a 💩Richard Mille💩
* The mars time speedmaster should've been a mechanical annual calendar set on mars instead.
* The genesis... It's too invested in crypto to be mocking it, which would make the wearer the butt of the joke.
* For a hype piece, the moonswatch should've been more omega and less swatch. Not a watch with any profit margin but as a limited edition talking point to get people into stores. Instead we're all making fun of it because it was absolute trash. Lol
I recently saw a blacked out AP I really took a fancy too, 100K.
Yep people are silly, I'd probably go for a 💩 emoji Richard Mille. 😅
I find it hilarious how angry the Moonswatch made watch “enthusiasts”. It’s like people who bought an Omega feel like poor people don’t deserve to have a fun watch with an Omega brand on it
@@kadenelijah9329 ... I am to 'poor' to buy an actual Omega Speedmaster BUT as a watch enthusiast even I thought that the MoonSwatch (and especially their execution of the roll out) is not worth the hype and is NOT something even I would spend my limited funds on - better spent on Hamilton, Bulova and Seiko.
@@kadenelijah9329 How much over RRP did you pay then?
Asking for science.
@@hibernopithecus7500 Got it from the Swatch shop in Vancouver
I hope next year Rolex will introduce a watch for Australia, which is the same but upsidedown
Videos with the two of you are my favorite
I am lefty and wear normal watches on my right wrist. No annoying crown.
absolutely loved this video, some watches indeed are so much hyped!! coundn't agree more.
Ok, just finished watching the whole thing. It’s definitely one of the RUclips videos of 2022. The witty observations/comedy stand out even against an already scintillating catalog of Watchfinder videos. Thanks for this thing.
Love the disclaimer @ the start 😂
Me too! I draft such warnings for my clients frequently. This is one that I would love for my clients to post, but they never do. It's unfortunate.
It’s a South Park reference!
The simile of AP hour and minute hands, stationary, on your HiFi really got me. Nail hit on head moment!
I was last week in Tokyo, walked into Swatch shop, they had three models and after seeing them, didn't bother buying one. Saw a much more interesting watch in another store. Nivada Grenchen x Undone.
Moonswatch...can't be deemed a failure when it's consistently sold out everywhere.
The Ranger... the dial of which it looked like a kindergartener was handed a highlighter and told to "draw a watch"
It's a great concept for a G Shock.
I couldn't agree more Andrew! Hope all is well. I agree with all of these selections! Thanks for sharing!
The "shut up nan" in the London roadman tone had me crying😂
You should also mention that the moonwatch are bad in quality, Scratches inside its own packaging, leaks color. You are better off with a Casio G-shock or a seiko for the price.
True, or a Timex
James Cameron gave his Submariner to a Tribal Chief... 😆😅😂🤣
He did. And the only reason we know is because he brags about it in a video that Rolex promoted. James Cameron is the 21st Century version of the "Great White Father."
Never promise a Bond Villian like me the entire solar system and not deliver.
I love the RM! It's great to wake up on the West Coast and listen to you guys.
„…it’s made for producers. Like Michael.“ 😂😂😂
How to say it’s tasteless without saying it
All sound effects are on point. If you dropped in an Auuugh seamlessly as well, I'd be stunned
Spot on! Thank you!
Couldn't agree more that the worst is moonswatch. My anticipation of wanting one fades away due to lack of availability until now.
The Omega Mars watch is essentially an expensive version of the Casioak with a digital display that you can see without a microscope and direct sunlight. I want one.
I hated the Mars Timer at first but I kinda like it now. Its weird.
Niko ain't going to be happy about the ap music edition
If any watch warrants the MoonSwatch treatment it’s that Mario thing.
The whole metaverse scam failing is great news. Really sad that Moser was not taking the mick out of the crypto. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I have three moon swatches, and I love them all. 😢🎉😂
Always great to hear your thoughts. The title is, as you would likely admit, a bit off enit? Most of these watches are fine, but suffered due to failed marketing campaigns or marketing department fails. And marketing missteps, for better or worse, can really impact are feelings about the watch or even the brand. For me, Omega moved down several notches with the MoonSwatch and then the James Bond 60th (not to be confused with the NTTD, which is a banger). As to the latter, I would argue that the little "animation" on the caseback is more cringe than the diamond bezel with the Jamaica theme. Come to think of it, that series should have been on the worst of 2022. Along with the Mars watch (with a face only Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos could love), that's three strikes for Omega. You are outta here!
The Omega Fleming Jamaican should surely get an honourable mention here.
The Moon-Swatch had a great completeness of vision, with low ability to execute. It could be cool, but they’d have to drop the price and make them available online.
I'd still have a Mission to Mars because of the Alaska Project aesthetic, if only I could find one.
I only have the Moonswatch of the ones mentioned here… the rest are just not really that easy to get as a mortal. And none of the really pricey ones are something I would like to spend that type of money on even if I had it lying around.
A Marstimer? Oh yes, I'd like one of those
Left hand crowns are on some bigger dive watches. My grail watch for instance. Omega 600 Plopropf.
just seeing a swatch insults me. The way they played with us as customers makes it beneath me. If they managed to get this right i would probably own one right now. If they messed up a bit, I'd probably still own one. But what they chose to do instead was literally the worst of all possible things they could have done and now I'm just done with them.
Ironically the Mission to Mar is amongst the better designed/ looking moonSwatches.
Love your blog 🤣🤣🤣🤣
10 seconds in and with the disclaimer itself the video earned a big thumbs up Like from me!
Tekashi is the only person mad enough to wear a smiley
The MoonSwatch is a marketing tool to sell more Speedmasters and get more foot traffic into Swatch stores. The watches are bad, but the idea is genius and it's working.
18:56 "a nebulous idea" very good Andrew
The AP music edition can be redeemed with the factory bejewelled version, looks pretty good.
I obviously know nothing about watches, because I kinda think these are the BEST watches of 2022. And Im buying a Omega Moonswatch!
The Ingenieux Liaison Tiffany blue Nautilus/Royal Oak mash-up has to be the absolute worst watch of 2023. It's a total abomination. Laughs about the Moser being legitimate rather than a piss-take though, I thought the same when it was released!
I'd wear that Omega Swatch, maybe not the loud ones but the Moon and Mercury variants are pretty cool.
Agreed. Most people seem to think the same. Although I believe a good portion of them only want it so it looks closer to a real speedmaster.
Either way it would also be be a great daily watch for work etc when you don’t want to wear a real omega
@@jared123123 For sure, I have never been into loud watches, even when Swatch Watches were the in thing as a teenager, I had the plane black case with white dial version, while all my friends had the very colorful designs with Shakespeare, Pollack and Warhol inspired work all over them. So If I get one, it will always be the one that is dark grey to black with the strap swapped out for a Bond Nato. I own a 39mm Speedmaster and I find myself not wearing it much due to the fear of damage or it might catch the eye of a undesirable. With this, it would be for carefree. It's a shame we can't simply buy one from the Swatchshop online.
You covered the most ridiculous watches of 2022 very well. Nothing to add here.
Richard Mille always looks to me like something you would get out of the vending machine at the pizza shop.
Pineapple and Flamingo? Swingers! Love it! 😂😂😂
saw the full collection at a swatch store in tokyo.
'I think all watches are great' ... 'there are no bad watches' ... REALLY??? Invicta - looking at you with some of your designs, smart watch - sacrilege amongst many watch collectors/ enthusiasts, MVMT, Fillippo Loretti, Daniel Wellington, some of the Aliexpress specials (aren't we all speeeehshall) etc. 😖
Fwiw before the Omega the folks at NASA JPL had a local watchmaker here in Montrose, CA modify modify some watches so they ran on Mars time. He still sells versions of them if you're interested.
I wonder what it's really good for though. Do they actually need the Mars time on their wrist for any reason? Or is it more like a nerdy thing?
I actually really like that AP music dial
I wonder if the speed master swatch is omega testing out wether to release a speedy quartz for around 3k with colorful dials!!
I love the comments. You don't carried away with...." because it's expensive has to be good/nice.." thing!
Was gonna pick a speedy. Wife (who knows nothing about watches), mentioned it looks like the moonswatch. I chose another alternative immediately.
Then your wife knows nothing about a watch 😂
Clever commentary!
Instead of a moonswatch, get the bulova lunar pilot. Bulova may be considered a fashion watch, not a luxury watch, it makes reliable, excellent watches.
I'm so glad I didn't wrapped up in the moon swatch nonsense. What a waste of a great opportunity.
I absolutely love the Omega mars watch! 💔
Ranger couldve been a smash hit with a cyclops date , applied numerals , and rotating minute bezel. couldve been a newer faux thunderbird. Call it the, idk, Ranger II maybe? You listening Tudor?
The 'Goodnight Oppy' documentary on Amazon, the discuss how once the lander deploys on Mars, the entire mission control team goes on Mars time with a slightly longer day. All of them have to get used to being out of sync with the local world around them.
love the time on Mars watch - I'm a scientist, and this is just a cool thing :D
I bought my moon swatch just because the hype around it, didn’t really care for it. Now, it’s one of my favorite watches in my collection, it looks so good, and something about the velcro strap just makes it fun. I do have a few rubber replacements coming, so curious to see how I’ll like it swapping the straps out
same here although I changed my strap for a NATO. I love it more than any other in my collection.
The left hand watch is more comfortable and you never wind or adjust the time without taking it off first anyway. It still wears on the left wrist. Or you can wear 2 watches at the same time if you want. I have done that with a gold dress watch and a Hamilton Pilot Lefty other wrist when I liked them both that day.
the moser looks like it might hurt or be painful to wear
I agree the moonswatch could have been a big success, but they really crashed and burned this opportunity.
Rolex, instead of giving us the green left-handed GMT-MASTER II should have put their energy into increasing production of the standard GMT's and the Submariner, or they could put a stop to the AD selling to the grey market pirates.
I feel attacked! I love the Tudor Ranger and Moonswatch! Got my ranger on rn
The ranger is awesome just bad pr
The moonswatch is a fun collab but it’s a swatch through and through. Doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyed!
@@wisamal-hakim5531 Yep I bought it full well knowing its a swatch, I still love it though! It has a place in my collection as my only 'plastic' watch
@@rebel1052k I think Swatch watches are great I’d definitely consider one of their plain Jane offerings
Look for the tudor north flag thats a beatifull watch bro
as a left handed person, the left handed design really bothers me on the GMT Rolex
I pretty much agree with all the selections. Of course... one could add plenty more.
Got the Earth Mission one as that was all they had on my one chance to get one. Still not sure why I bothered but it does get attention
What a fugly list!🤮 Well done gentlemen! 👏🏼 Having said that, the only one I am interested in & affordable, well to me, is the MoonSwatch! Yes I have the real Speedy. Would I buy a overhyped toy plastic watch when & if available? HELL YES! I am dumb enough to do so!😵💫🤪🤣
This year people will bring a spade and dig a bit extra in the Mariana Trench and drop the watch into it
I think of Richard Mille as Invicta for rich people.
Just got my first Rolex 😁
Classic no date sub…. This is going to be an expensive hobby 😅
Holy moly, that Moser Genesis is a monstrously over done marketing nonsense, ouch.
I’d have the RM Smiley if I could afford one though, exceptionally well done and glorious fun.
I got lucky and walked in the Swatch store in Montreal this summer and was able to buy the Saturn MoonSwatch. The watch is cool… the completely unreasonable hype is what ruined the fun.
Probably the Swatch store with the less traffic in the world.
Not sure if I’d call that “lucky”
Got the opportunity last week to either buy the red or yellow MoonSwatch in the local Swatch store….Spent the money on a nice dinner with the family instead. Might have acted differently if it would’ve been the grey or black version.
I think the worst watch of the year is the hideous omega bond 60th anniversary seamaster. It’s an awful attempt at a rainbow style bezel with a tenuous (at best) conceptual link to Ian Fleming.
Omega are their best when they do their own thing and do it well, not trying to copy what other brands are doing.
I am going to wait for the official Fisher-Price watch tool kit to be released before i get the moonswatches for the kids. That way they can have a matched set.
I'm with Tom about the Ranger. If Tudor had introduced a watch more like the ones that were used in Greenland by the British expedition it would have been a hit. Instead they reintroduced an homage to the Explorer, a watch that didn't climb Everest with Hunt's expedition. 😉 Still a nice watch though.
Was it not a Smith watch that reached Everest?
Both Rolex and Smiths (and many other companies) sponsored the British expedition. My point was that an Explorer certainly didn't summit Everest with Hillary and Tensing. Rolex supplied Oyster Perpetuals. The Explorer was first made within a year to commemorate the the success of the climb. Similarly The Ranger looks nothing like the Tudor Prince watches that were supplied to the BNGE.
Yes, a Smith calibre A404 in a tropical case. Different from the A409 ones Smith offered to the expedition members. Wrt Rolex, it seems Hillary did not receive one ahead of the expedition…
@@patrickjean-philippe7679 I have a first edition copy of Hunt's book "The Ascent of Everest". All sponsors of the expedition are given credit and Rolex are certainly mentioned as supplying watches. Which members of the team received a watch is not made clear.
I had the opportunity to buy a MoonSwatch about a month ago and tried one on and said nope. I'm officially over it and will never own one
with the moonswatch, the knockoffs are built better!
Has Omega been to Mars too now?
They need a Stanley Kubrick edition.
BioCeramic…is that like Artificial Intelligence except it’s Artificial Hip?
Great selection- truly the shame of the watch world in 2022
You are so right. These, and the reasons behind then, are truly hideous or pure marketing BS.
I have a snaking suspicion Omega is positioning the Speedmaster X33 Marstimer as the future Space and Mars watch once NASA has a mission, but I guess time will tell.
is the swatch worth it? I've heard that it feels super cheap like a toy, I was thinking of getting one until that.
I think it is expensive given that it is plastic and the pushers are known to break…
@@patrickjean-philippe7679 yeah I might just go for a tissot gentleman or something then.
Swatch MOA has them all the time. Not in every color, but not hard to get. I was almost tempted at first. Thankfully the one color I like stayed out of stock long enough for me to get a grip on myself.
Well stated, and your experience was exactly the same way that I felt about the Moon Swatch. Hard enough to procure that when the time finally came that I could add one to my collection, I'd sobered up enough that I thought...Just No!
It saddens me, having to admit to having bought each and every watch in this list.
That AP music edition RO is just hideous.
The Rolex GMT was brilliant on their part. It literally cost them nothing. Just rotate the case 180° rotate the crystal 180° put the movement in boom done
