  • An unexploded Nazi-era bomb has been successfully removed from a home in England.
A man building an extension for his daughter discovered the device in Plymouth.
The discovery led to one of the largest evacuations in the UK since World War Two.
The 500-kilogram Nazi bomb was driven slowly through the streets of Plymouth.
It was then taken out to sea for disposal.

Well if it had exploded they wouldn't have been able to remove it from the home because there would be no home to remove it from

This is illustrative of civilisation. The life of every single person matters so much that no expense is spared to remove real and present danger, if possible.
Another good argument for quarantine like interruption of normal free association and free access to all public spaces. Small inconvenience, big reward.

Wouldn't it be possible to know where unexploded bombs are by the chartering of bombing runs during the war?

If you knew the exact flight path of every single plane, the exact height, and release point of every single bomb, and whether or not every single bomb exploded, and could get hold of Dr. Sheldon Cooper to do the math.

Maybe not but better safe than sorry. I pretty sure i recall in Exeter they didn't evacuate enough homes and people were injured
