I am reminded of the tale of the man who first saw a giraffe in a zoo, in Victorian times. His comment, having stared at the creature for some time: "I don't believe there is any such animal". Seeing the flashing fingers and feet, the jumps between manuals, the stop control, and the overall management of the organ, how can this be possible?! Many thanks.
So long as it's only about our natural world, that'd be a great idea! Jonathan could be inspired watching hours of Attenborough covering the whole spectrum...🤣
Bravo Jonathan, Bravo!!! I have only ever heard "The Planets" done by symphonic orchestra. I sat in total silence while listening to your amazing performance. This is a truly outstanding musical concert! Many thanks....Will Ortiz
A great Holst rendition by Jonathan, magnificently shot and recorded by Tom. Thanks Scott Brothers for sharing this brilliant concert with us in such an incredible way!
Johnathan has topped himself again. Even more awesome than his previous video of "The Planets." Tom's tour of the Cathedral creates a world in itself. You could watch it even without the sound. From Chicago, U.S.A.
@ChangesOneTim I now remember the "darker meaning" of "topped" from British films and television shows. (I certainty don't want to predict death for Johnathan, or Tom). From Chicago, U.S.A.
Incredible this trip in the cosmos, Jonathan! Congratulations! Extremely difficult piece to play and you think you are the only one to perform it completely. Congratulations to Tom for the beautiful images. Sensational!
Hallo, Marvellous, Incredible, Great, Amazing, Wonderful, Beautiful. Words are not enough to describe this performance so magnificent! Thank you very much! B B. Tom for the wonderful filming and recording. With Love from the Netherlands.
Beautiful, Jonathan and Tom! I love the arrangement and I’m always so amazed at how much the organ can sound like an orchestra. The filming and playing are top quality as always!
Thank you both; that video was incredible!! The camera work was amazing, Jonathan's rendition of The Planets in it's entirety was superb & the Gaia installation was the icing on the cake!! Another tour de force boys!!
Simply brilliant. Tom’s videography is superb. The choice of the organ of Chester Cathedral couldn’t be better. And, Johnathan registration and performance were second to none. Up in Heaven sits Gustav with a tear or two on his cheeks and a smile because you gentleman have truly reached a pinnacle in interpretation and performance of his work. Congratulations!
It has been a pleasure to experience this magical moment. I already followed it when you performed in St. Lamberto, in Germany, but this time it was even more magical. I have been very impressed by the Uranus moment! Thank you both for giving us these wonderful moments!!❤👏👏👏💖
Thank you so much for recording this performance! The Planets is one of my favourite suites of all time, and Jupiter is simply a masterpiece and gives me ASMR tingles when I hear it. I'll treasure this video.
An absolutely stunning and unique solo arrangement of The Planets for the organ. Thank you Johnathan for your incredible work, it truly brought the piece together on every level and thank you Tom for your amazing work as always with the fantastic visuals. That must have been no mean feat in the dead of night! 57:22
WOW!!! What a magnificent and fantastic concert. Loved the scenes that were shown and the Church organ that was illuminated as well. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇿🇦
First let me Congratulate you Sir, on your extraordinary expression of our Cosmos, particularly our Solar System. This aligns so perfectly with the ancient mythological interpretations of the “ planets”, and the attributes our forbears applied to each eons ago. This is the critical to true comprehension of the nuts and bolts of this magnificent universe, the synchronicities found within our fractal universe : Sound. Vibration. Frequencies, …. And crystals!🎼🔈🎚🎛📳💎💠
An amazing arrangement and performance by Jonathan of such a difficult piece and a wonderful video by Tom! How can you two be so perfect? Gaia was beautiful and the Church was more imposing at night! I loved this online concert! Thank you for everything!
What a treat! Jonathan's inspired playing of a wonderful piece, Tom's audio-visual wizardry, a magnificent organ in a beautiful cathedral. What more could anyone want? I had abdominal surgery yesterday and I was feeling a bit down but this has cheered me up no end. Thanks guys.
What an amazing performance. Thank you, Jonathan, for your wonderful talent and your presentation of this beloved Holst piece. And, Tom, your photography and audio are outstanding. I will keep coming to these as long as you post them! Thank you!
Wonderful! Many thanks, Jonathan. There's a magical quality to some of the sound that I've never heard in any other performance. This might be the piece's natural habitat!
A wonderful transcription even better than a full orchestra! Your organ music is an inspiration. Hopefully Jonathon you can give a recital on Gloucester Cathedral organ my home town at some time in the future. The organ is however undergoing at present an overhaul. Terry Aubrey
Brilliant video in so many ways. First, when I was 11 years old, back in 1959, the very first LP vinyl record I ever bought was The Planets, on the Ace of Clubs label. Second, the Scott Brothers are, in my opinion, the very best keyboard players in the world. And third, I was in Chester last year and saw the Passion Play outside, and later went inside, Chester Cathedral and it is a very impressive building. Many thanks for this great presentation.
That was crème de la crème, I have never heard Mars the Bringer of War on an Organ before, I have always been a lover of organ music be it church or cinema with organists like Reginald Dixon, Sidney Torch & Sandy MacPherson, when I was younger I spoke with my local vicar to ask if the church organist would mind me sitting in at his weekly practice he very kindle said he likes to do it alone, perhaps he thought I had an critical ear I didn't I just enjoy the sound of the organ, I did join a local organ club a few years back that was played on the resident organ, but they ceased to exist.
Great concert. I caught your "Houston we have a problem reference". 🤠🙂 (Odd. I don't recall choosing the cowboy emoji, but I'm going to leave it anyway.) XX
Bravo excellent beautiful bliss and an excellent ending. Earth never gets played with the Holst the planets because it's the only planet with out expression and was never composed.huh I'd like to hear this done on a VCS3 sequencer system now that would be something for your travels with space in time.😊
Could you play Gloria in excelsis Deo from Vivaldi ? There's not many organ solo versions of it, and I think you could make it fabulous, thanks for sharing your work
This is the best version I've heard of the several renditions that Jonathan has made. All of the voices are heard well. In the previous renditions, some voices were too soft and difficult to hear. ❤
Tom set a new standard for videography. Did you use a freaking drone for those high shots? I wanted this to go on forever. The registrations are fabulous.
You play fantastic, sir! One thing, in Uranus the playing is muddy in the middle. Are you using a 32' Bourdon coupled with the 16' on the great, swell and chair (choir)? It gets thick. Just my observation from playing the contrabassoon part. I might thin it out with some 4' reeds or, on my instrument a 2' piccolo stop to give some higher registers, although mine only has 2 manuals and a pedla division.
This is not only musically breathtaking, but it emphasizes what is wrong with the world today-poor dress sense, little or no attention to detail, no respect for yourself and your fellow human being-this is perfect in every way.
10:19 inspiration for part of the Star Wars theme song

Bravo! A wonderful transcription, a bravura performance, and a beautiful video - thank you!
Great concert. As the planet Earth was missing, later Jonathan will compose this piece to complete our solar system.✨ 🌎✨
Ok, i can compose the dwarf planets and the sun then, so we get a even more complete solar system
So long as it's only about our natural world, that'd be a great idea! Jonathan could be inspired watching hours of Attenborough covering the whole spectrum...🤣
What about all the moons? There are over 100!
@@ncard00 and let's not forget the asteroids.....
What if I compose the Earth, Sun, Moon, Phobos and Deimos?
The only thing missing is the well-deserved thunderous applause from an audience.
😂...indeed ...and some thunderclaps from Heaven in divine approval.👌
Jupiter - OH MY!! - Best arrangement ever
Bravo Jonathan, Bravo!!! I have only ever heard "The Planets" done by symphonic orchestra. I sat in total silence while listening to your amazing performance. This is a truly outstanding musical concert! Many thanks....Will Ortiz
Your concerts are some of the best content on RUclips.
This was my favourite one so far.
Magnificent Work.
From across the pond but floating through the planets. Marvellous.
A great Holst rendition by Jonathan, magnificently shot and recorded by Tom. Thanks Scott Brothers for sharing this brilliant concert with us in such an incredible way!
Holy mackerel this is what ears were made for! Thank you again Jonathan!

I know what you meant by "topped himself", but in Britain the expression has a much darker meaning and I had to laugh!😂

Astounding!!
Johnathan never fails to deliver, his interpretation here is spot on, what an amazing arrangement this is. Thank you

It was wonderful on the day but Tom’s brilliant images really add to this performance. Thank you both; so glad Tom is an intrepid cathedral climber!

Marie Harrison - it was utterly breathtaking on the day and every bit as inspiring a second time. Thank you both xx❤
this is awesome , i am so glad to have found this organ version of my most favourite orchestral pieces , brilliant

Magnificent!
Superb! This wonderful work sounds even better on grand organ only than full orchestra. Well done!
Very nice camerawork
What an amazing performance. Thank you, Jonathan, for your wonderful talent and your presentation of this beloved Holst piece. And, Tom, your photography and audio are outstanding. I will keep coming to these as long as you post them! Thank you!

I think so, too. Certainly I enjoyed this more than any orchestral performance I have heard.
I’m covered in goosebumps listening to this, note for note perfect and absolutely bloody Awesome.
Fabulous performance! Thank you so much!
Five four three two one....
Lift Off!!!
This is incredible!!!

Great surprise, so looking forward to this treat! 🎶🎹💕💕💕🎹🎶
I'm counting down the hours
Great concert. I caught your "Houston we have a problem reference". 🤠🙂 (Odd. I don't recall choosing the cowboy emoji, but I'm going to leave it anyway.) XX
2nd time I've watched this, just keeps getting better and better.
A remarkable achievement!!
Listening for second time.
Beautiful concert thank you
Absolutely amazing, yet again I wish I was there to listen live. Maybe when you venture a bit further south. Thank you, thank you.
Amazing !
Incredible job!
Wow! Great! Thank you. Xx
I had dreamt about it. Thank you!
Fabulous concert Jonathan , as always. Wonderful arrangement for the organ. See you in June at Chesterfield!
Lovely job! I like Holst's Planets, especially Isao Tomita's electronic versions used in "The Planets" narrated by Patrick Stewart.
Really great. Thank you for sharing !
Absolutely amazing…

Soothing ❤️
Magnificent! In some ways better than the orchestral/choral original as the texture is clearer.
Cannot wait to see the "Alien" hipersleep theme on organ, based on the planets from Holst.
Could you play Gloria in excelsis Deo from Vivaldi ? There's not many organ solo versions of it, and I think you could make it fabulous, thanks for sharing your work

Jonathan, may I request Bach's BWV 546 or Elgar's Op. 28 Allegro? Thanks a lot in advance.

Браво.
Владивосток тоже слушает.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
How about some John Williams?
Fantastic! But I would say Mars is touch too fast. In 7/4 time it is easy to play too fast. You are a master Jonathan. I love watching you play!!!
