The contrast within Saturn is just outstanding, from powerful and intimidating to soft and peaceful! This video proves that an organ is like a full orchestra, but in the form of a set of keyboards and pipes.
MARS, THE BRINGER OF WAR: 00:00 VENUS, THE BRINGER OF PEACE: 07:28 MERCURY, THE WINGED MESSENGER: 15:48 JUPITER, THE BRINGER OF JOLLITY: 19:53 SATURN, THE BRINGER OF OLD AGE: 28:03 URANUS, THE MAGICIAN: 36:37 NEPTUNE, THE MYSTIC: 42:17
Both of these men have, not of this earth, but heavenly gifted souls, minds and hands and they themselves are a gift to all of us from the creator on high!
Bravo! Bravo!! What an absolutely stunning - repeat, stunning - achievement! Jonathan, you have become one of the very few and select organists to have played this suite. You must surely be the first to do it live in front of the world! And we had the privilege of watching it! Tom, what an outstanding display of camera- work, choreography, editing and effects. Many congratulations to you both!!
What a way to demonstrate this amazing new organ, from so many featured stops to its clarity and power. Massive challenge in some sections, like the impossibility of the missing snare drum in Mars, while Venus translates magically, featuring solo stops, as if originally for organ.
Powerful tour of the solar system by pipe organ. The "Mars" section brought back reminders of some science fiction movies of attacks from Mars. (One of them did use the orchestral version of "Mars"). From Chicago, U.S.A.
The orchestra orbiting in Jonathan's amazing brain brings to life another brilliant transcription for fingers & feet. His stellar performance & registrations showcase this beautiful organ while transporting us though our galaxy. One can feel the gamut of emotions as we orbit each planet. 🪐 Bravo, maestro! 👏👏👏👏👏 Tom, the video is out of this world gorgeous! 🤩 The ending is a perfect landing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks for sharing. ❤❤🎹🎶
This is a great favorite of mine, so I was hoping to not be disappointed...nope! The pedal notes, at times, added a depth that tended to overshadow the keyboard! Great fun, this!
Bravo Jonathan, a wonderful performance. I enjoyed every moment. Thank you Tom for the fabulous tour around this beautiful church. Back to Planet Earth now 🙂 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Terry Aubrey. Another fantastic performance by Jonathan not forgetting Tom. The new organ lends itself to the music and surroundings and is indeed a wonderful instrument. Congratulations to you both.
Hats off to the recording engineer too! I don't know much about what's involved but can appreciate that much experience goes into such a high quality mix.
You have given us a magical moment, silver like that majestic and modern organ (beautiful). In addition, the place is modern, spectacular and stellar, ideal for this suite. The suite can be understood more or less but the great complexity and virtuosity of the interpretation can be appreciated without a doubt. Mercury is the musical part that has touched me the most. I think Jupiter is the best known. On Uranus it seems that you have done magic with your hands, I have never seen anything like it before, incredible. And Neptune I think he is the most mysterious and original because of the color of his sounds of outstanding mysticism. Tom has managed to create, with the natural sounds and lights of the beautiful and original stained glass windows, an environment full of color and light conducive to musical pieces. Thank you Tom for the quality of your creations!! Congratulations Jonathan for your Master's degree, for your excellence and unbeatable work!! Thank you both for your generosity. Every time you offer more and better. You are blessed!!💖💖😘😘
This piece looks and sounds very difficult. You really brought it Johnathan!! This organ was designed to play this suite..Great Photography Tom. Thanks for sharing.
I don't have the ability to express my amazement at what I have just listened to and watched. Today was the Queen's funeral, a day of excellence tinged with sadness and pride. I then stumbled across this on my notifications, and what a perfect way to round up this historic day! The Scott Bros have shown us again what excellence truly means. The production and playing were truly sublime; at times I believed I was listening to an orchestra, not one man sat at an organ. The instrument itself is breathtaking, in my very humble opinion. Many organs have beautiful stops, but somehow don't come together. The way this instrument comes together in a glorious ensemble is a testament to the builders, designers and of course, Jonathan's superlative registration! Thank you Scott Bros Duo for this sublime end to a surreal day.
Your orchestral arrangements and performances are always astonishing, but this one... Totally transcendental! perfect stop selection, almost 300 perfect stop setups - sometimes undistinguished from the original orchestral version!!! It was deeply emotional!!! Congratulations! Also the filming from Tom, sometimes the light effects from the church lights or light from outside through windows, reminded me of planets and space under a telescope. Totally magical!!
Well, that was out of this world!! What an incredible tour de force!! It was well worth the wait. The interior of the church was an ideal backdrop for this suite! What an excellent job, thank you both so much for that!
Hallo!! Thanks for a Amazing performance!!! Wonderful to listen to Jonathan and the wonderful filming and recording from Tom. B B beautiful Brothers. On our wonderful Blue planet EARTH. With Love from the Netherlands.
Such Genius from both of you in this one piece. I have just seen something truly beautiful. Technically brilliant whilst so powerful and moving and another go to piece.
Tom, with this you have considerably raised the bar on videography of organ concerts. Great shots, artistic editing, and the audio is very real. Jon, the transcription seems true, registration is clear and demonstrative, and of course the playing is virtuosic. I have made myself a CD of the audio so I can play it at will without searching for the stream. Forgive me for making this personal copy without paying for it. It is priceless to me. 🤗
One could be excused for thinking the Planet Suite was actually composed for the organ in the first place, as opposed to orchestra, such is the standard of the adaptation/arrangement, the Martin Scholz Pipe Organ including stop selection and, of course, playing. Many thanks for sharing this excellent performance.
How fantastic to travel around Europe playing these exceptional organs 😊 The Planets is such a compelling piece to listen to. Thanks Jonathan and Tom for the great premier.
Absolutely magnificent! A masterpiece in transcription, excellently executed. Superb. Wow! I don't think you could have found a more suitable instrument to perform this on either; tight sounds, superb pedal fluework, astounding mixtures, dazzling reeds. Just right acoustic too. Thank you for this unbelievable 50 minutes of sheer pleasure and wonder. God bless you.
Outstanding performance. Excellent registration. Superb instrument with great sound. A renewed masterpiece that does not stay behind the original orchestral version!
"Like" doesn't really cut the mustard. You've both done a magnificent job with such a difficult piece. Now arrange it for four hands and premiere it at the Proms next year with Anna Lapwood.
My greatest respects for transcribing this masterpiece of classical music for organ - sounds beautiful, I'd love to play it as well!! Greetings from Austria. ;)
What an experience! This is another orchestral piece that could just as well have been written for an organ like this, at least as transcribed by Jonathan Scott! I've listened 3 times already, and I don't miss the orchestra at all. Jonathan has captured the essence of each planet perfectly; menacing Mars, ethereal Venus, manic Mercury, jovial Jupiter, venerable Saturn, ponderous Uranus, and mysterious Neptune - all brilliantly realized! Of all the modern organs I've watched Jonathan play, this is my favorite so far, with its gorgeous sound! Applause to Tom for finding interesting images in such a (mostly) austere church, especially for the shadow image of Jonathan at the console, and the projected colors of the stained glass windows on the ceiling and walls! Thank you both for your superb artistry! 💗🎵🎹🪐📷
An awesome performance of one of my favorite Holst works. What an accomplishment it is to create and perform a different version of this great piece of music.
Another remarkable concert, the music fitting so well the impressive and modern character of the church. Holst’s music was written in a time of chaos and turbulence; yet it conveys a feeling of hope and serenity, which you both have conveyed so well. Please accept our most sincere thanks for these wonderful gifts of peace and serenity.
This suite always makes me happy… it makes me all kind of happy and to hear it in this arrangement made the hair on my neck stand up and my eyes well up in such joy. A remarkable body of work. Congratulations. You guys really ought to tour this I for one would love to hear it locally (Oxford) perhaps. Great video work as well which creates a great visual for the music Brilliant 👍☢️
Greetings from Erkelenz. Fantastic. Allow me to express to you and your countrymen my condolences at the loss of your Queen. A conscientious and sympatic person has left us. Ralf Goertz sends greetings from Erkelenz to Great Britain
Jaw-dropping. Everything: the building, the instrument, the videography, your arrangement, and your playing. Your Mars makes this piece so fresh: it was utterly harrowing. Bravo!!
I have been looking forward to this ever once I saw it teased on an earlier video and it certainly did not disappoint! Not just one incredible performance, but seven. Beautiful arrangements, beautifully played and wonderfully presented by Tom. Another Scott Brothers triumph! Congratulations! 👏🏻👏👏👏👏👏
Impressive. Superb. Astonishing. Incredible. Amazing. A musical prowess of the highest caliber. Will it be available on CD? Thanks for this wonderful video. Greetings from Chile.
Once more enjoyed from beginning to end, you definitely put your own stamp on this concert, nice to see the registration numbers change, I think with right hand pedal?. Sound and vision very good again Tom, many thanks again Both.
This transcription is masterpiece. This is Johnathan's best yet. Calling this a virtuoso performance does not even do it justice. I am out of superlatives. Tom, your AV production is also a master class of in AV production and especially superlative audio. Thank you both so much.
Wonderful playing. In the sixties my piano teacher, a child prodigy in his time from Argentina, told me to play with more "vwalor". I never really understood it at the time but recognize it now in your work. Thanks.
There are not enough superlatives in the English language to adequately describe this performance by both musician and videographer. Bravo
And what an organ!
Traveled to all the planets.....back to earth now...thanks Scott brothers
Never clicked on a video so fast.
The contrast within Saturn is just outstanding, from powerful and intimidating to soft and peaceful! This video proves that an organ is like a full orchestra, but in the form of a set of keyboards and pipes.
Cannot wait to hear Jupiter!!!!
MARS, THE BRINGER OF WAR: 00:00
VENUS, THE BRINGER OF PEACE: 07:28
MERCURY, THE WINGED MESSENGER: 15:48
JUPITER, THE BRINGER OF JOLLITY: 19:53
SATURN, THE BRINGER OF OLD AGE: 28:03
URANUS, THE MAGICIAN: 36:37

Imagine playing this in atlantic city, would be absolutely incredible.

That was absolutely bloody awesome. I wish I knew how to play an organ.

All the planets are beautiful in this suite, but I've always liked Mercury best. I'll be counting the hours until then! Thank you both!
This is a great favorite of mine, so I was hoping to not be disappointed...nope! The pedal notes, at times, added a depth that tended to overshadow the keyboard! Great fun, this!
The concert of our galaxy.🎶🎶🎶✨🌍✨🪐✨✨✨

Terry Aubrey. Another fantastic performance by Jonathan not forgetting Tom. The new organ lends itself to the music and surroundings and is indeed a wonderful instrument. Congratulations to you both.
What a supreme celestial journey you have planned for us!
This is simply super human. Maybe the best individual performance I’ve ever seen on any instrument.
Hats off to the recording engineer too! I don't know much about what's involved but can appreciate that much experience goes into such a high quality mix.
Unbelievable! Gorgeous! Fantastic! Bravo

VERY VERY PERFECT !!!! GORGEOUS !
Venus and Jupiter - they're brilliant!
Mars the bringer of war is awesome, but Jupiter, the bringer of joy is sublime! Can’t wait!!!
How absolutely majestic. Shivers down my spine.
OMG This is stunning, marvelous, majestic, artistic. brilliantly, performed. Thank You.
Wow! I'm speechless!!!!!!!

Wow! What an undertaking! I enjoyed this thoroughly.
Bravo and thanks Jonathan and Tom! Super Saturday night surprise! 👍👍👍💕💕💕
Hi,
It really takes a true genius to play all those notes on the music pages! Especially on those pieces that you played on the organ. 😊
Truly amazing…
Tom's visuals are stunning in this particularly for Neptune. Bravo 👏🏻
A fantastic concert! Thank you for making the new organ in our city of Erkelenz glow and blossom.
Brilliant, overwhelming! ❤❤❤Congratulations Mr. Scott!👏👏👏

Sorry I cried at the point where “I vow to thee my country” as HM Q 11 has recently passed away. God save the king.
Wish I had been there…

Qué maravillosa interpretación de tan bellísima obra musical. Gracias a los hermanos Scott. Saludos desde México. Juve Flores.
😎 mágico celestial ✳️🌟✨🛸🌌👽
Even Holst himself, when he wanted to trial the suite on his piano, needed two pianists!
Wonderful playing. In the sixties my piano teacher, a child prodigy in his time from Argentina, told me to play with more "vwalor". I never really understood it at the time but recognize it now in your work. Thanks.
