This track is my favourite. It's incredible how he composed something so appropriately haunting and utterly mysterious before we had even seen Neptune from Voyager. Holst was a mystic to envisage Neptune in all its ghostly glory.

I remember my dad used to work at the post office when I was young. He'd being home samples. One day he came home with a cassette tape. Holst the Planets. He was so excited he said "It sounds like something from Star Wars!" He was absolutely right

This came on automatically after I was listening to the whole symphony and it got me for a whole 15 minutes before I realized what happened. 🙃

I listen to this while working. This is such a beautiful piece of music. heard this on the radio in 2017 and I have always loved it. The chanting at the end is absolutely magical!

Was trained up in around 1976-7 on this from my Primary school teacher who was gentle Hippie woman who at times was my only friend. 🙏. And She gave me loads and loads and loads of codes. 💡. +. 🍄. + 💖. +. 🎼. ☑️☑️☑️☑️. 😇

Holst's "Neptune, the Mystic" is one of my 3 desert island classical music pieces, alongside Debussy's "Sirènes" & Ravel's "Lever du Jour".

Something about this song has always connected with me on a deeper level, even decades after my first listen. Thank you for this.

Oh wow I'm almost certain this was the actual symphony orchestra and recording too. I used to be a violinist and I have perfect pitch. No two recordings are the same as no two conductors are the same or orchestra. This is just like the one I grew up with
I once played this when I was older with Chicago Civic. This symphony requires two orchestra and two choirs.tje singular constant vocal is created by them taking breaths at different intervals throughout the note. They fade as the back stage doors slowly close on them. I'm almost in tears. Thank you for this memory ❤
I've been in a depressed state for a while. Think I will make some art and listen to this today

This used to play on a loop in the dinosaur room at our city museum. Takes me back to hear it like this. 🦕 🦖

That’s a wonderful image. Should be played similarly at the planetarium. Is it still there though. Aberdeen.
