    I enjoyed this video. Well made, informative and you are very likeable!
    I have ordered some Fungus Gnat Larvicide. I think it's meant to be the industrial version of mosquito bites. Hopefully it works.

      Thank you so much, I really appreciate your nice note. 😀 Your Fungus Gnat Larvicide sounds like a good product too. You might want to do at least 2 treatments, around 2-3 weeks apart. Good luck! Have a wonderful weekend, Mary 🌷🌿🌸

      Thank you, Garrett, for your nice note. Since I made this video, I have found that just shaking some mosquito bits onto the soil and then watering them in is also effective at treatment. Good luck keeping those darn fungus gnats at bay. 😀

      Have you tried adding boiling water or microwaving the soil before using it? It will kill the eggs and larvae in the soil. Just let it cool off first.

      I use Mosquito bits, put it in a coffee filter and infuse into the water. Then you water your plants as normal. I use Gnat Nix to top dress the soil. When they walk/crawl on it, it cuts up their exoskeletons then they die. Last I spray and clean my leaves with Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap. Works for me.

    I battled a severe infestation of fungus gnats a couple years ago. The Bonide totally eliminated them & I treat every new plant as soon as it comes into the house. Topping off the soil with pumice rock is a very effective, one time application - the gnats cannot get into the soil and hatched larvae can't escape.

    • @RockyMountainGardens
      @RockyMountainGardens  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, Peggy! Thanks for your story about these pests!! They are the worst--as you saw I too used the Bonide product and it was especially great the first time, but then later it seemed unable to do the job completely which is why I switched to Mosquito Bits. I have read about pumice rock, as well, and I may go ahead and buy some as an added precaution if I continue to see a gnat here or there. I will add that product in my list of treatments in my comments above. Thanks a bunch for watching too! ❤️

    • @RockyMountainGardens
      @RockyMountainGardens  5 лет назад +1

      Good morning, and yes, the BT-I did finally work. However, I had a viewer suggest a product called Gnat Nix to sprinkle on top of the soil of my plants and I may add that as well as a precaution. ❤️ It is made of recycled glass and cuts their exoskeletons so they die. But several treatments of the Mosquito Bits water has worked the best.

      yeah, i'm thinking of adding it to my regimen. with it and the sticky traps as a mechanical measure, the dr. earth spray i've been using as a chemical measure, and bt-i as a biological measure, i should have all my bases covered.

      KEvronista, wow, isn’t it crazy what we do for our plants?😁 I must say that the sticky traps are very helpful too. I love my plants, so I will continue to fight!!! 🌿🌱

    Hi!
    I used the Hydrogen Peroxide, but only sprayed the top of the soil, not the plants.
    I have used the Mosquito Bits. I soak them in water with coffee filters.
    Have you heard of Gnat Nix? It is made from recycled glass. You top dress your plants and if he crawl on it or through it, it cuts their exoskeletons and they die.
    Good luck!

    Hi please can you tell me is it OK to use hydrogen peroxide cream which is use for hair dye diluted in water for plants

    • @RockyMountainGardens
      @RockyMountainGardens  Год назад

      One important factor is what the percentage of hydrogen peroxide is in the product. It is recommended to use regular bottled peroxide solution of 3%. You dilute even that amount with water and apply it to the soil only. Do not get any on the leaves of your plant. Hope this helps, Mary 🍃🪴🍃

    • @crochetjeddah8455
      @crochetjeddah8455 Год назад

      @@RockyMountainGardens yes it's three percent but it have other ingredients like argan oil and and alcohol ceteryl

    • @RockyMountainGardens
      @RockyMountainGardens  Год назад +1

      @@crochetjeddah8455 I would be wary about using Argan oil on plants. I couldn’t find any information about its effect on plants specifically, but just be careful, maybe do a small diluted amount on a plant to watch for any bad effects. Mary

    You should treat once a week for 3 weeks due to life cycle. Two weeks is too long.

    • @RockyMountainGardens
      @RockyMountainGardens  5 лет назад

      The Queer Curmudgeon, thanks for that tip. Right now everything is under control, no fungus gnats with my treatments. I have reduced watering considerably and believe that has helped very much too. On to collecting more houseplants! 💚
