Ballas is such an interesting character. Hes a perfect window of the Orokin elite from back then. But despite that veneer of grandiose self importance. He was as human as anyone else. They're hubris of trying to become gods in the flesh made him just as infallible as mere men. He loved, he hated and probably even felt jealousy towards us for how Margulis was willing to die for us, but not recant for him.
Excellent character analysis. Putting all of Ballas' actions into perspective, it makes so much sense when you remember that Ballas' vanity was virtue to him. He murdered, resurrected, and eternally enslaved Ordan Karis for insulting his beauty, how easy it must have been for the Sentients to calculate his betrayal.
Here's something even more akin to Ballas; the Paracesis was for the Tenno to kill him (Ballas). Why? In the Chimaera prologue Ballas complains that he was robbed of his perfect death by being turned into a sentient hybrid.
So, every Warframe is a human being infested and encased in armor. That is a horrible fate. All armors but Umbra cant move. So their minds are practically destroyed to leave an empty shell to pilot.
@@artyomxiii Then how come the warframe was able to break war in two? It was a frame with no pilot, acting on its own. @@DKannji I'm sory which war are you talking about? If it's the old war I'm guessing they're the Dax soldiers that willingly give their lives for experiments and wage war on Sentients. But they enraged and rebelled attacking Orokin instead but was then annihilated (that was the original primes). Ballas told Hunhow about these. From what I got the Erra quest. It was shown the old war when Natah betrayed her brother and become Lotus the space mom, then skipped to present day. Just my opinion but that when Natah/Lotus was accompanied by Tenno-es it was when they controlled(?) the Prime Warframes and possibly win(?) Idk, it was when Orokin empire knows the potential pf body (warframes) and mind (Tenno) so the second rebellion can be prevented also I think it happens after they killed Margullis. If it is the timeline might add up. Orokin kill margullis -> they prepare the second attack on Sentient -> in battlefield Natah took pity on them then become Lotus -> then attacking Erra. After its over then happens the fall of Orokin empire etc etc.
I feel like Ballas was a good villain during the new war. I would've loved to see more of him during the general plot of warframe but maybe he could come back during duviri as some sort of villain type for the orokin open world, similar to Vay Hek in the plains or Nef Anyo on the Vallis. Thank you for this video. Now I understand the Warframe lore A LOT BETTER. I was so confused before about Ballas, Hunhow, Sentients, Orikin empire and of course how it was chronologically.
You mentionned that sentients came back to Origin System first to start the war. I'm convinced that Orokins traveled to Tau system and the war started There. (solar-rail jump in mag prime codex, zariman ten-zero military purpose in ember prime codex, mirage hidden message memories)
Really looking forward to your update now that the new war is out. Warframe's story telling is so cryptic that I had a hard time understanding what's happening and why. The game mechanics need the wiki and the story needs these videos. Otherwise 90% of players would have no idea what's going on or even how to play the game. For instance, I thought Ballas was a powerful figure who somehow got captured and enslaved by the sentients. In the new war the balance of power between Ballas and Erra has nearly been reversed and I have no bloody idea how and why. I've watched all the cutsecens again and again, but I just don't get any of it because this plot was written by and for cryptographers.
Most people don't which may be an issue of rewrites than anything. There is hints in the New War Prologue that Ballas was always working with Erra, but it makes no sense why he would provide to us the Paracesis during Chimera or why he ended up pairing up with Erra instead of Hunhow who we find out he originally paired with during the Sacrifice. ***Spoilers for NEW War*** Personally I think that Ballas and Erra pair in the new world are a different set than what we were dealing with prior and due to Wally, he put us in a reality where we could save Lotus. It would make more sense with how Externalism and the Drifter work since it seems the Drifter dealt with the "bad ending" aftermath of facing Ballas and if you chose to, our normal space kid would just swap places at the final push to become victorious. With how Externalism is explained, and with what we know of The voidborn Man in the Wall, he seems to be able to condense realities together and put us where we would get the outcome we want as seen when we make the deal with him during the Zarimon. We shake his hand and he goes through other realities and kills the other realities of us where we don't make it out and don't make void powers and just leaves the one where we do for us to take the place of. If you also recall during the prelog quests Wally is the one who is guiding us to the info about the Lotus leaving with Ballas, as well guiding us to Ballas imprisoned wishing death. Since it's Wally leading us and we lose our Warframes during those sections, I think that's Wally guiding us to different realities to fuel our negative emotions up and lead to the New War's final outcome which was him being realized from the void and most likely placed into the Lotus. This idea goes from The War Within where the Twin Queen is trying to take over us and is trying to put us in a negative spiral of emotions to be able to fully take control of our body and complete Transference. In the chains of Harrow quest we also see Wally struggle to control Rell due to him trying to stray from his negative emotions, but the more Rell fell into his negative feels the more power and control Wally seemed to have. And finally in the Sacrifice we discover that we also are able to do Transference with Warframes because we are mending them of their own negative thoughts and feelings imbued into them. So for Wally to take over we have to be in a super negative state which he was trying to induce with putting a divide between the Lotus and us, but ultimate he took the Lotus's body and transferred to her instead because she shielded us from him, but would have met the same negative emotion requirements with everything that has happened to her from awakening to Natah, leaving her beloved Tenno for Ballas, her lingering memories of Margulas forced into her mind, and being manipulated by Ballas and Erra to destroy the system the Lotus worked so hard with the Tenno to protect. When selecting which voice for our Lotus to be, she is even covered in the same energy effect we are when we make cryptic choices, I think showing us that she now has the same power we do.
