I learned some new tips watching this, thanks dudes. The only other tip I have is if you put the bikes longest to shortest left to right the handlebars wont bonk the bike next to them at all if they wobble.
@@Blake_Cherubini you guys helped plenty we were looking at a Lolo until I saw your rack at Horns and I was like oh, this is way way better, we need this.
Really Good Review Guys! I agree with everything you said. I have the 4x and it's been awesome. Solidly built, easy to load and use, and just a great rack. Velocirax customer service is awesome as well.
Great video. Thank you. We rented some bikes recently from a resort in Utah and these were the bike racks they used. Loved it. Wish I had known before I bought my rack. Can’t express how nice having 4 bikes within a few feet of the vehicle is.
Great review, just picked up the 6 and love it. Only con is that its heavy and definitely a 2 person job to mount/remove but as you mention the weight comes with the quality and stability.
@@Blake_Cherubini I saw this rack a few week ago on another video and I’m sold. Plus the Sequoia being so tall I won’t be able to use roof racks. This is perfect for my 5 bikes!!!
If you blow a tire, how hard is it to haul the bike home with a flat? Will it stay in the basket with no air pressure and if so do you think it would damage the rim to get the bike home?
I’ve got a Kuat NV 2.0 that I have no complaints with when carrying just 1-2 bikes. Would be very interested in this for shuttle days, especially if it works with the swing away adapter. Guess it would as long as it’s within the weight limit.
We have a swing away adaptor. I think it will work perfect. It would be pushing the weight limit for sure fully loaded but I think the weight limit is for when the swing away is extended.
Any concern about damage to your tire rim seeing how the bike is supported by the Front tire. Plan on doing road trips with it and don't want to damage my bikes
Have you had tire run from the baskets. I have a Alta6 rack and have had tire rub through to the bead. It sucks and Alta told me to wrap the basket in inner tube which has improved it but it still does it. So when you got buddies in the van with you and you get to the destination and their freshie is already showing beads it kinda sucks. 😂
I’m looking at the 5x as well, could you measure the total width of it, (top bar) and if possible could you measure from center to both sides. I have a smaller suv then you guys so trying to see if I could get away with the 5x. Thank you very much!
really great work. Have you used the rack over the winter yet? Any corrosion issues? With all the salt here in Ohio this is a big concern to me with any steel rack.
The 5x is pretty wide. It’s as wide as our sequoias. It would still work perfectly fine but if your worries about the width of the rack I would go with the 5

Glad we could help! We normally go longest to shortest but had to keep them nice and symmetrical for the vid😂🤘

Canadian customer support is very lacking, bordering on terrible.

First i've heard about wobble with the LOLO rack, glad I watched this!

Just got my 7! Great review and I really appreciate the tips.
How is your 7 holding up after 2 years?
@@theSkavenger84 so far so good. I've only had to replace a few of the rubber wheel straps. The Phoenix heat is hard on them.
Great review! Ya'll should do more of this
Great overview...hoping to get one soon for my family of 5. Ready to be done putting them on horizontally...such a pain.
It’s 10000x better than a horizontal rack!
I’m getting this rack for my Sequoia as well. Awesome looking Sequoia!!!
Thanks! It’s such a good setup!

I just ordered mine. I can’t wait to take out the Sequoia. It’s like it was built for this car!!
Just used your link to order the 5X. Thank you for your review!!
That’s for using our link! We appreciate it!
Great review guys. Just ordered one thru you link👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks man we appreciate it!

Plug the tire or swap the tube - problem solved. :)
all they need is a swing away capability and it would be great.
Cross shop with Altaracks which IMO is the segment leader but bery expensive.
If I needed to carry 3-4 bikes I’d get one but for just carrying 2 bikes I’ll stick with my 1up haha. This rack y’all have is massive
Hard to beat a tray rack if you’re carrying 1-2 bikes! The ol’ VelociRAX is thicc🍑🤘
Wow! That camera man knew what he was doing!!!!!
Was that a tripod or a camera man?!
@@Blake_Cherubini both have the same amount of steeze on slim shady😭
Will this rack accommodate beach cruisers and smaller 20” bikes?

No problem!
Love my 7 version
Great review guys! How long did you have the Lolo and the 1UP for and how long did you utilize the VeliciRax for?
I just received the VelociRax for 5 bikes. Very happy so far.

We have not experienced tire rub yet. I’m sure it could happen if you’re driving rough terrain for a long distance🤷♂️ maybe not idk lol
We haven't seen it on ours either at all, no marks on any tires or rims.
7:10 get it bro!
D&D racks actually has an integrated lock
How about 20 inch BMX race bikes?
This looks really cool, would you recommend this for nice 24, 26 and 29 cruiser bikes? I'm not happy with the Allen Sports 5 bike rack I have now.
Have y'all reviewed the 1 Up Recon rack?
Haven’t had the chance to have one yet!
Haha, mine is on a black sequoia as well

Have you guys tried the Alta Rack?
Haven't tried it but would love to give it a test!
really great work. Have you used the rack over the winter yet? Any corrosion issues? With all the salt here in Ohio this is a big concern to me with any steel rack.
We will 100% not use this rack in the winter haha the salt would most likely destroy it. Plus we don’t want to get all that salt on our bikes
@@Blake_Cherubini Amen to that. We ride all winter and the salt will do a number on racks, even when they are made of aluminum.
Yea man In the winter we put the bikes in the vehicles so they don’t get screwed up lol
Question. Can you mount this to an adventure camper. Off road camper. If the bumper is integral to the frame.
Yea most likely! As long as the hitch is strong enough the rack is plenty strong enough!
Do you boys have an idea of its weight??
Not 100% sure but I would say around 60-75 lbs.
"The VelociRAX 5 weighs roughly 85 lbs. The VelociRAX 7 weighs roughly 102 lbs." From their site
Would the 5x be too big for a Subaru Forester? Or is the 5 a better option?
The 5x is pretty wide. It’s as wide as our sequoias. It would still work perfectly fine but if your worries about the width of the rack I would go with the 5
@@Blake_Cherubini I have a 2 inch hitch receiver also would that work.
yep 2 inch receiver is standard
Any chance your pedals can spin and hit your vehicle?
No chance. It keeps the bikes far enough away from the vehicle
That would mean the pedals extend lower than the tire. That would be hard to ride.
To bulky. My north shore rack folds up and fit all types of bikes beach cruiser and my kids bikes. Definitely check out north shore racks! Made in BC!
As long as you like it! We don’t like how the pedals and break levers hit other bikes
Does it work with road bikes as well? (Don't worry I'm not a roadie but my family rides mostly road bikes lol😂)
it does, the X models have more spacing and will do all of them next to each other
Thanks for the help Bryan!
Made in China
I'm older and in declining health to try and manhandle a monster rack like that....Pass
