I want to add, they have different receiver size options for the drop hitch attachments too. I have a Ram 2500, and absolutely hated how the rack wobbles due to using a hitch reducer sleeve (2.5"-2"). Now, I have the drop hitch from VelociRax for the 2.5" receiver. Two problems solved!!
thanks for the review. I have a Highlander so tailgate no issue.. and the integrated lock sounds cool. Appreciate knowing if that these are the worst aspects and they dont really affect me, this is a great rack.
If I could love this vid I would but I can only do a like… 👍 lol this is exactly what I was looking for. This company should give you guys free stuff for making this product more desirable than the rest.! These vids you guys are making are perfect for the company and the buyers looking for a great rack!!
I wish I would have seen this video before I bought my Velocirax 6. I can not get my rear doors on my transit open no matter what position I put the rack in. great video.
Don't know if you'll see this... But would you buy it again/anyway? We're looking at the 7-hole for our 15-pax van. I'm wondering if, with the rack in "camping position" I'd be able to easily enough access the cargo area of the van. Did see a vid of a guy that mounted this rack on a swing-out hitch feature, but it went bad with that. Otherwise this seems like such a great rack.
@@nothanks1673 I got the extension from Velocirax and it still would not let me open the doors all the way. I got a swing out and so far it has works pretty good, BUT, it rattles like crazy on rough roads. It is a cheap one off of amazon. I carry my bikes inside and only use the Veloxirak for shuttles and shorter drives ( under two hours). I still like the rack. It is easy to use and with my van it does not have that long over hang like a tray rack. I also use it on my car which it works really well on. I found a really easy way to take it on and off by myself. I use a hand truck to roll it into place. Get it started in the receiver useing the hand truck then just push it up and it slides in. It works really well. I would by the Velocirax again.
First off, you can already buy an extension for your hitch to bring the rack out a bite. I'd also suggest that when you park in a parking spot, that you pull further ahead...that way your bikes aren't in the space behind you.
Does the extender allow for camp mode, ie putting the rack all the way down on the ground, or would the rack hit the tailgate? Looks like they make 3 sizes of the extender which size is that?
It’s a good rack. No doubt. But, the wheel straps leave your hands looking like a grease monkey. Fully loaded the release on the tilt is a pain in the ass. And loaded down with e-bikes it flops around like a sheet of paper in the wind.
I disagree. If you compare this rack to other similar racks and take into account the differences in design and quality, VelociRAX is hands down the best quality and for the value. 1up is damn near $1500. Yakima and North Shore are close in price but lack the quality.
So, you can remember your helmet, shoes, flat repair kit, gopro, water, snacks, but you made a video because you can’t remember your lock? Also, buy a hitch extension.

I cant find that piece? Would you mind linking it?
Hell yea!! Twisted Teas are my go to MTB hydration
The new integrated lock is amazing. Sure, I wouldn't trust my bikes on that overnight, but great for coffee and lunch runs etc.

They now have an integrated locking system for 4 bikes and up. I would like 1 for the 3 bikes.
I would assume they will eventually come out with that option!
Thanks for talking about this rack I,ve been thinking about buy one .super cool.
What about camp mode will it hit your tailgate
you have a tray, why not just use a matt and load in there with front wheels hanging over the back?

As a Ram 1500 driver with a Velocirax, you hit both my issues on the head. Outside of that, been loving the rack after a full year of use.

What are your thoughts about the extender putting it opposite? The bottom will be on top? I'm just concerned about my vehicle close to the ground
Hey. Question, how is the sequoia tale gate opening. Does it have enough clearance?
It opens fine!
Chase how's your wrist doing?
Better! It's still not good by any means but I got to ride 4 days last week which is a huge improvement!
Thanks for your videos. For a toyota tacoma. Sould i go for the 5 or the 5x?
I always thought that rack would be shit on a truck due to wind, any feedback?
Yeeeup, I’m curious too
We haven’t noticed any issues with it on the truck
It'll drop your mpg a little, but it's solid.
As far as the Locke situation goes… could you not just feed your own cable lock through that bar and have it on there all the time?
Love the drop hitch I’m about to order mine
It’s a great accessory!
Hitch extension is one problem solved the other is to lock your lock to the rack and keep it there
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Now they just need to have the actual locking mechanism on the rack as well so I don’t have to remember where I put the padlock. :)
What tonneau cover is on your tacoma?
Rough country trifold!

That lock does nothing to protect your bike which will disappear in 2 minutes.
Bet you couldn’t steal it without tools
Good thing I just got a Subaru.. lol
The bikes take up too much space, going upright and off the back. Just get a 3 bike upright, hitch rack.
Tray racks take up more space off the back
LoveIt
This rack is the sickest rack I have seen but def not worth a thousand dollars.

The tail gate problem is irrelevant. The rack was made for SUVs and wagons. to clear every tail gate it would have to stick out way to far.
Thanks for the language losers.
3rd thing: it's made in China
So what’s the better option then?
