    Another great review! Your videos are especially valuable right now in this COVID environment since we can still order a new bicycle online but can’t really go to a local shop and test ride them (at least not where I live at the moment). A personal request would be for you to get your hands on a Trek Crockett 4 and Kona - Jake the Snake to review. Keep the videos coming - Greg

      Thank you for the comment and yes I believe video reviews are important right now so when people buy online they have a little firsthand experience. Today I had a firsthand experience with both the bicycles you mentioned the Kona Jake the snake which is a bike that I've always been impressed with really held its own today against some very expensive gravel bikes and of course the track Crockett is a tried and true performer that again was on the ride with us today and is a very rock solid bike. I think they're putting a lot of reliability into all these models at a good price I have to say the MARIN Gestalt is the one that has my heart though. Let us know what you pick? Thank you for your comment

    I have bought this bike for 2 weeks. I wanted to know the minimum tire size to make an exclusive road use. 28 mm, do you think it can fit in?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +2

      Oh yes a 28 would fit and I think that would be better than a 23. If you want something in between you can go for 26 but I would recommend the 28 if you're going for road use only and want to be fast and have still have a bit of compliance. Go for the 28th they will fit

    @TheBicycleRider Whats the size limit on tires for this gravel bike? Could i use 37mm on it? Many of them can get 40mm, but i dont think if this one could..
    Great review and job! Congratz from Spain!

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +2

      Wow the bicycle rider is reaching Spain, I think that's awesome Spain is where my grandfather is from and I'd love to visit someday. As far as the max tire for the Scott speedster I think that's where this bike is limited a bit. I didn't have this bike in my hands for a long-term test and was only borrowing it from a local bicycle shop so I couldn't modify the bike as I would like. The tires that were on this bike for the test ride were 700 x 35 which in my opinion are a little skinny for the type of gravel and riding we do here in South Mississippi. just eyeballing the fit it was pretty tight and I don't think a 40 c would fit with any clearance for mud. On the bright side a friend of mine bought the exact bike that was featured in this video and as he starts to modify the stock setup I will be able to follow up with real life fitment of bigger tires which will probably be his first upgrade. Please stay tuned and thanks for your comment!

    • @vmxd
      @vmxd 4 года назад +3

      Yes. you can use 38mm wide tires and also convert these wheels to tubeless. I converted these wheels to tubeless without any problems and was able to fit Panaracer SK Gravel 38mm width! works perfectly. Here is my bike 2018 Speedster Gravel after conversion to tubeless with 38mm width tires: ruclips.net/video/H7khW_y4-0s/видео.html

    great review! I've been riding an MTB for a long time now, and I am riding a Scott scale size L. it is perfect mesure for me but I don't know if for the Scott speedster its to big or to small can someone help me? thanks!

      I dont know if this helps you that much since i dont have the comparison to yours , but i just got this exact model today in L/56cm and it fits my 190cm very well. Only have close to 1h road time because it startet to rain heavily , but i must say this is a beast of a bike.

    •  3 года назад

      Paul Rühsen i am 187cm. I purchased XL (58cm). That usualy my size, but i fell Speedster 30 is too big in XL.
      I did not try L yet but i am afraid L can be too small.
      Is it also not standard for you to ride bike in 56cm size?

      Yes I think this bike would make a good commuter It would be fast! As far as long-term durability in the urban situation I wouldn't case any curbs but as long as you're fairly careful I think it would work out very well

      I have 2018 Scott Speedster 10 Disk and use it as commuter to work with mixed terrain, roads, park gravel and its awesome bike. Only one cone - you cannot fit wide tires 40mm + and rims are not tubeless compatible, but you can covert it. I did..

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +1

      No I'm finding hybrids have more of a flat bar or riser bar and a bit different frames geometry a true gravel bike is definitely a bit different than a hybrid but I have to say you are correct I gravel bike can do many things just like a hybrid can. Good question let me know your thoughts

    • @charliemccloskey8358
      @charliemccloskey8358 4 года назад +1

      hybrid is suitable for commuting, upright and more for comfort. Think of this as a road bike with MTB tires on it, plus a bit of change to the geometry

    I really like this one but in my case now I’m used to single speed on the front. What you prefer Bart?. I really don’t like those front derailleurs maybe because I don’t know how to use them and when they start with the noise it makes me crazy.
    Also single speed for me is more secure when you are giving your all and less weight.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад

      Yes I like you I am a big fan of the single speed. What today is modern derailleurs and wide ratio rear cassettes along with single wide front chain rings just make a single speed so rock solid. Also the front derailleur limits the size of the rear tire. Also as you pointed out extra weight.

    • @junboo8730
      @junboo8730 4 года назад

      TheBicycleRider Wow didn’t know about the size of the rear tire. Interesting. Walmart bikes sure make this 21 speed as something important ha. When people see my bike the first thing they ask is how many speed, when I say I have 11 or 10 they put this face as if my bikes are garbage haha.
      Then I have to explain them and show them. Is there any road bike with a 1 by
      ...?, it would be interesting how it compares to the other road bikes.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад

      @@junboo8730 , I have experience the same thing some people equate the number of gears to how good the bike is Like you say on a department store bike 21 is supposed to be impressive. When it comes down to it there's a lot of extra weight and some gears that never get used. Would the current one buu drive systems, things stay light and efficient it's really all you need and things are less complicated with only one derailleur needed.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад

      I've actually gone one by on my areo bike , gravel bike , commuter bike and fixing to make my road bike one by. If I ever travel to an area of the country where I'm going to do more touring or heavy climbing I can see how the multiple chain ring definitely can come in handy there. Hopefully someday I'll get to travel a little bit more and I might need a double or triple chain ring up front but for now the one by keeps me very happy

      @AeroMetalMoe 3 года назад +1

      @@luanmai1984 You are welcome! Just as he says, the bike leans more to the racy side of things, meaning that you will be able to ride quite fast on lighter gravel. I was just participating in a race last weekend with some technical single trails (roots, mud, chunky big gravel) and it was a bit too much to handle for my Scott. I also had the chance to try out the new Canyon Grizl with 45mm tubeless Schwalbe tyres, which I liked a lot. It was perfect for more technical stuff but obviously not as fast on paved streets compared to my Scott. it really depends on what you want to do with your bike. Good luck with finding your perfect bike! :)
