Plus the child shouldn't be on such a road in the dark on a motorized toy vehicle and without a white and a red light! So dangerous. And it can make a lot of people feel very miserable at once.
The first case with the truck driver was scary but he was doing what he needed to be safe. Yes he was parked on the side of the road with minimal traffic causing him to be a “sitting duck”. The cardiologist who gave a diabetic medication for high blood pressure was actually responsible. The driver was not fully aware of the mix of medication and diabetes. The second case is hard to watch. Knowing that you are alive when your father was killed in the same accident that you survived. The third case has me questioning the 14 year old and her family. Most kids growing up know not to play in the middle of the road. I do feel bad for the 2 people who struck her. I also feel bad for that girl’s family.
C'mon! Cardiologist LIKELY DID tell her to watch out for changes. Like a LOT of People, she probably blew him off, as people talking, texting while driving do when they're warned.....
I started beta blockers at age 24... Had panic attacks severely.... took me 15 years to realise it was my blood sugars crashing and I didn't feel it bc of the beta blockers. Anyone given these should be told by the prescribing Dr the risks of low blood sugars.
No kidding. Sounds like the police decided to recognize that he chose the lesser of the evils, though. Especially since it seems like the semi was a smaller factor in the overall crash dynamic.
@@mimiturner51 you obviously never drove a truck and know nothing about them so until you do stfu. Most parking lots have signs posted "no overnight parking" and that includes sleeping only one or two hrs, other parking lots can't fit full size otr trucks with 53' trailers. Sometimes there's literally no place too park. One thing this driver should've done that could have saved his career are reflective triangles that all drivers have (or are supposed to have).

There are days where you'll be on nothing but secondary roads and truck parking along those are few and very far between since most places big enough display signs saying "no overnight parking"
Poor Trucker, he was trying to do the right thing, even at the risk of a fine, and he still wound up in the accident. That had to be a horrible realization for him.
Surely there was a side-road he could've pulled into? At the very least hazard-lights & warning-triangles! However, ultimately it was the car-driver's long-term mismanagement of her Type-1 Diabetes that caused the fatal crash!

Although it's sad, and the drivers were doing the wrong thing, the kid was ALSO doing the wrong thing by riding in the middle of the road. She pulled forward, and backed up 4x before finally parking (though she was crooked as heck). She absolutely refused to put her phone down.
The first accident has nothing to do with a cell phone they weren't popular at that time . they weren't popular yet period. Nothing to do with speeding either they had some type of illness.

@@lkball00 as an Aussie I had to do the Maths to convert speeds, but 60 mph is crazy-fast for a suburban area! Suburban speed limits in Australia are usually between 25 and 38 mph, with 60 reserved for open roads out of town. Speed limits are in place to help avoid crashes, and reduce the severity of them - at 30 mph the girl would have been banged up badly, but she probably would have survived.
Lower speed limits don't reduce the severity of injuries in an accident I broke my back in a 50 mph crash when I blew a tire and hit a tree with a seatbeltalt a couple years earlier less than half a mile from the same spot no seatbelt in excess of 120 mph I lost control sheared off 3 trees similar size and cartwheeled a few times into a violent barrel roll and walked home with a cut chin a Dr might have put 2 or 3 stitches in I had to cut my shirt off it was pinched between the gear shifter and roof and I never did find my right boot I walked the 3 quarter mile home to call and report the wreck

Jo Grinz, you are responsible to be in control of your vehicle at all times, including being ready and able to react to unexpected obstructions or someone either in or who enters into your path of travel. The factors of whether you do not have your headlights on, if you are overdriving your headlights with excessive speed or if you are distracted and fail to react in a timely manner, all make you both civilly and potentially criminally liable for the accident. That’s not to say that there may be some factors that can help mitigate the driver’s liability in such a case, but these rules are the starting point in terms of assessing liability, i.e., who is at fault, responsible for damages and subject to prosecution.
While it's of course really sad and heartbreaking, that young girl should not have been playing out on the open road with that scooter. Granted, that other lady, or even both of them, was speeding, but the girl shouldn't have been there in the first place. Traffic rules are there for a reason. Whether it's speed limits, wearing seatbelts, not being in places where you shouldn't be. Adhere to them, as they can and will save lives!
traffic rules apply to ALL, whether its a car, bicycle or scooter- the kid was in the middle of the road going the wrong way, at night, no lights/reflectors and I doubt that scooter was even street legal in the first place like go-Karts are not street legal, even a 50cc moped has to be licensed and have mirrors, turn signals, lights , mirrors

It’s only the girl’s fault if there were sidewalks or other safe infrastructure. Otherwise, it is the roadbuilder’s fault for not providing such infrastructure.

As a type 1 diabetic myself, I can say that, when a serious low sneaks up on you like that for whatever reason, logic can tend to go right out the window. The driver's brain wasn't working right, in brief.
I’m a type 1 diabetic myself and all the preventive steps in the world could be done and a severe low can sneak upon you at any time. It can happen before you have any feeling something isn’t right. I have access to a continuous glucose monitor so I can see what my blood sugar is before I start driving. If it drops while driving, it warns me I could have a low or am slightly low so I can treat it before it is out of my control. If a cgm is not available, she could have tested before she turned the car on, and have been driving for a very short period before a low came up out of the blue. We can sudden, severe lows and we are literally not able to think.
Rox Buchanan then maybe they need to start pulling the driver's license from ANYONE who suffers with that illness. Your a danger to yourself and other road user's.
Dacia Sandero guys, the driver is not innocent. As a legal adult commanding an automobile you are responsible to be in full control of your vehicle at all times, including being able to safely stop for unforeseen hazards. The adult driver bears the ultimate liability, not the child, nor their parents. BTW, in both civil and criminal law, parents are not liable for the behavior of their children.
Useful tip... If ur ever driving and a deer goes in front of u, keep driving, hitting the deer may cause damage to the car, but the car can take it, swerving to avoid the deer is a lot more dangerous... However, if u are driving and a moose goes in front of u, it's best to swerve and end up in the ditch, ur windshield is no match for 800-1,500 pounds of moose, ur more likely to survive crashing into the ditch
People think that when a doctor gives them meds, the doc has carefully reviewed their files and would give them any warnings about interactions with conditions or other meds. Think about it. A 10 minute dr visit. And that dr leaves the room and moves on to the next one to do the same. Medical errors are the 3rd leading cause of death in America. I would assume this falls in that category, except the death in this case was not the person on the BP med. very sad.
Ann Raybon, you have a certain responsibility to also ask your doctor of side effect and pharmacies now routinely provide information sheets presented with each prescription, probably as both a customer service and to limit their own potential liability or risk of suit. However, I recently learned that a huge percentage patient non-compliance, i.e., failing to take medications as prescribed by their doctor and/or lying to or misleading their doctor about whether or how they are using their prescribed medications. All that being said, I would not want to be the doctor in this case because attorneys will look at him or her not only because of very the doctor’s genuine culpability but also because the doctor’s malpractice insurance is a “deep pocket.” Attorneys will often skip past a party with greater liability with few assets to reach the party with the likelihood of producing the highest payout. In this case, depending upon the malpractice laws of the state, the doctor could be facing suits by the family of the deceased driver and by the surviving driver who helped precipitate the accident, or their respective insurance companies.
@@inkyguy People do not usually go to a dr wanting to sue them for malpractice, so I would say that is putting the cart before the horse. Most go to the dr. and trust what they say. MOST (not all) do not even question what the dr is giving them!! I have a cousin that argued with me that he trusted his doctor so he did not question him giving him antibiotics when he had the flu. I work in healthcare and people for the most part have no idea why they are there, what treatment they are getting, or what medications they are taking. It is truly a frightening situation to see on a daily basis. and I am not exaggerating.
I understand why the Shrivers decided not to sue. They would have to relive the tragedy over and over but the doctor should have been reprimanded. While you can't expect a doctor to know all drug interactions knowing your patient has diabetes and what would affect that is basic.
That tire most likely fell into the road from the underneath of another vehicle looks like the spare tire that mounts under the body behind the rear axle. Picked up many of them over the years and the vehicle they fall off is no where to be found usually held up by a cable that tend to rust off especially here in New England with road salt as it all just collects in that area and you may never know you lost it until you need it. Any vehicle I buy that has one I remove it and keep it in the vehicle.
My question is why was the little girl on a motorized scooter in the middle of the road and at night time 🤔 I’m sorry that she died like this while being so young but she caused her own fatality 😔
I agree with you who the hell would let a young girl out at night to play in the road is beyond me i dont think the parents cared enough otherwise they would not let her out esp. playing in nthe road

Very sad. The young girl should not been on the st. But, was learning to drive a scooter for the first time. I wonder if she was riding from it from her friend's house. Why didn't someone say wait until morning. To tell her to do it on the side walk or least let her watch first before riding it. Then let her do a test while someone was watching. Only God knows what happened that night. Prayers.
As a tractor trailer driver for 40 years and a instructor for 8 years it is up to us to find a safe place to park, the back of a trailer is extremely deadly ! I’m not here to nit pick , maybe a Wal-Mart lot or somewhere safer !! Use your brain 🧠 ! If you have to at least put your triangles or flares out !
Amongst all this sadness, I take a little bit of joy from "seatbags" The narrator says "Seatbags and Airbags aside" at about 5:50. I believe its supposed to be "SeatBELTS". It gave me a little giggle, and I'm honestly surprised by how much I needed that.
Very sad to hear. We all need to see prevention videos. To make us more wise. Alot of people think they know how to drive. But we never know what will happen. We need to keep our eyes on the road and obey driving laws. And never get distracted.
Here in Australia we seem to have a common problem of tradesmen (we call them 'tradies'), not securing their ladders (the excuse is probably that they're not going far) then losing them on a busy main road. The result can be disastrous for a standard car as you can imagine! Years ago I was driving across one of Sydney's busiest bridges when a van in my lane lost their ladder, then as it was still sliding the truck in front of me drove over it without touching it. I couldn't swerve to avoid it as it appeared so suddenly, but as my early model Nissan Pathfinder was fitted with aftermarket lifted suspension, I knew I had the clearance to drive right over it, however as I looked in my mirrors I saw several cars behind madly changing lanes trying not to hit it!
It tends to repeat the same scenario with slight differences to the point of being predictable to make it look like they can figure all accidents out Oh wait there's no such thing as a traffic accident it's a wreck or incident and someone is always to blame
The second one, with the tire in the road, reminds me of when I was driving my normal route home from work, and found two large pieces of tin roofing on the road. They were bent out of shape, and there was one in each lane. The truck I was driving at the time could make it over it no problem, but I knew anyone with a low lying vehicle would have to swerve to dodge, and that was extremely dangerous as this was a blind corner. There was a church right after the curve, so I parked there, got out, and moved the piece that was lying in the middle of the road into the ditch. The other piece was much smaller and while I can't quite remember where it was, it was in a place that other vehicles could dodge if need be without too much fear of running into someone. It was also in the inner curve, and I just simply didn't feel comfortable moving it when that lane was completely blind from where I would be, vs. the one I moved which I could see any oncoming vehicles. The tin was gone within a few days and as far as I'm aware, there were no accidents.

Spirit BlackPaw, thank you for thinking of others. I have done the same thing or called the police to report it. However, I have occasionally been in situations where I can’t possibly stop safely or get out of my vehicle or it is too dangerous and/or distracting to call police and give a reasonable location reference for the obstruction’s on a limited access highway. I simply have to hope someone else will call or the police will find it soon.
Stevie-Ray, it is a serious problem, and I wish there were stronger criminal penalties for truckers who fail to reasonably secure their cargo. I have read of incidents in which people in other vehicles have been permanently disabled (e.g., paraplegia or quadriplegia) or killed outright from objects flying off of other vehicles of other drivers. Where I live you are legally responsible to clear ice and snow from the roof of your vehicle and you are legally liable for any damage or injury caused by ice flying from your vehicle. However, to hold the responsible driver accountable you must first catch them, and that rarely happens in such situations.
Did you not hear the fact that there wasn't an exit for another 70 miles? That's an extra hour and a half minimum of drive time. Reevaluate your frustration here.
I'm a living testament, in the right rollover conditions, a seatbelt will save your life. I was involved in a slow speed rollover (caused mostly by my panicked oversteering) at 16. EMS and police said that if I wasn't wearing my seatbelt I would've died. But I was, and I was able to crawl out of the car.
My grandmother was ejected from a car in an accident in 1968. No seatbelts in the vehicle. I was a passenger in a child safety seat and walked away with just bruises.

6:02 It is obvious that the BAR should be mandated much lower than old-fashioned demands. In Sweden they are about 27-30 cm above ground but I don't know what the law mandates. Anyway, the bar I see is way too high up for modern society, the law seem outdated.
Sorry but a kid should not be riding a scooter on the road in the first place. She was 14 years old and should've known to be more responsible than that. I'm not disputing how tragic it is and I'm prepared for the hate I'm probably going to get for this comment but she was a young adult. Common sense from all involved could have prevented this particular tragedy.
If this was based in Britain they wouldn't even have to have an investigation. Just go to the ,ocal pub and ask if they were just there. Probably a yes tbh
That last case blows my mind. How could either of the drivers be at fault when that girl was driving a scooter on the road that shouldn't have been there in the first place? It was not like she was crossing the road or tripped and fell into the road. She was driving somewhere where she shouldn't have been.
You should never drive over the spreed limit! There can always be a child or an animal that runs out into the road. The last driver would have stoped well before hitting the girl if she had not been speeding. She killed the girl. Speeding or drunk driving is a murder waiting to happen.
@@MelwynreithTV you are aware seat bags and airbags aren't interchangeable terms. Air bag is the term to describe the type of safety deployment. While seat bags specifically indicate air bags located within a seat for passengers behind the driver or front passenger. So while all seat bags are airbags, not all airbags are seat bags. The industry term is airbag - to suggest the industry term is now seat bag because you decided those terms are interchangeable is not correct.

This won’t be popular but why was she on the road after dark in a poorly lighted area? It is so hard to keep our children safe. We are not super human. So sorry for your loss to the child’s family.
We seriously considered buying a house by the beach. To get there was a stretch of narrow country road and I had four children nearing driving age. We decided to forgo the beach for wider roads and better lighting.
It is unclear to me if the driver of truck who struck the tire in the road was wearing a seatbelt. The narrator said he was crushed. Was that within or outside of the vehicle? Often in accidents such as these, the unrestrained occupants (i.e., those not wearing a seatbelt) will be thrown from the vehicle and are then crushed by the vehicle as it rolls over them or lands on top of them. With very few exceptions, a seatbelt will save your life, reduce serious injury, or at the very, very least, leave a much better looking body.
You cannot legally park in the road ,unless you have mechanical problems and then with all safety triangles and other precautions taken. The truck driver should have also faced charges. The lady had a medical emergency, the truck driver did not ! Find a legal place to park before you get so tired that you must stop. If the truck driver had not carelessly parked in the damn road ,the lady would still be alive! You cannot park anywhere you want to ,it does not matter what you drive!
Not sure about other Australian states, but here in New South Wales motorised-scooters along with motorised-skateboards & pocket-motorcycles, are totally banned from roads, footpaths, shared-paths, & parks! They're just downright dangerous for the both the riders & pedestrians!
The first clip, the woman should have braked as soon as she saw the car weaving behind her. It's bonkers to continue driving at 70mph when there is a clear hazard in sight.
I don't know how the SUV could have been going 60 MPH on a residential street, when the car in front of it was going 30 MPH. I also don't understand how a skid mark can give a reliable indicator of speed, doesn't it also depend on your tires, your brakes, and how hard you press?
I thought the part on the back of the truck that they hit was called the "Mansfield Bar?"(After Actress Jane Mansfield who was rumored to be decapitated while riding in front seat of car that collided with truck). She died, but kept her 👱♀️.
I think accidents are a real thing. I had ended up rear ending a sedan a few winters ago. I hit some ice and couldn't stop so I let off the brake a little so I could get my car to where i would only hit half of their bumper instead of the whole thing. Ended up calling the police got one to respond. Told him everything that happened and he came back with all my information and had a paper in his hand. I had a pen ready to sign a citation but he handed me the police report said I'm not going to give you a citation because it sounds like a true weather related accident.
Barbara is IMHO the faulty driver for failing to simply STOP is there is a blockage in the road and some idiot is swerving all over the road, simple logic should prevail and the driver who is concerned... STOP.... FFS, its not rocket science.
If you see an aggressive driver coming up behind you, just pull over to the side of the road and stop. If it's a true story, why not tell us what happened to the woman who killed the child?
It is very tragic that the girl was killed, but, unfortunately, she was at fault for being on the road with the scooter. As it happened, the driver who was speeding ended up being the one who was held responsible for her death. Someone always has to be held responsible when there is a road death. The trucker should have parked completely off the road. If there is an erratic driver on the road, pull over and allow them to pass. (It's better to have them in front of you so you can take evasive action when necessary.)
Does not matter how fast the car was going. Idiots, her tires could be bald and cause a longer skid. Plus why in the hell was this kid out at night in the street riding a scooter with no lights. Sorry the parents and the Kid's fault. Even going 30 that lady probably would not have been able to see the kid in time to stop. And you can't tell me she could have. I'm really getting tired of revenge arrests for accidents. If anyone goes to prison it should be the parents. Put me on the jury for this Lady and she will walk free. Stupid investigation on this one
It could have been worse for both the semi and the scooter. It could have been a 6,000 ton freight train. Going 55 miles per hour. Scratch that for all the crashes.
MEDICAL REASONS ARE AS GOOD AS DRUNK DRIVER..STAY OFF THE ROAD IF YOUR SICK..CALL A CAB LIKE THE DRUNKS DO..NO ONE NEEDS TO DIE OVER IT OR SPEND THE RE ST OF A LIFE IN PAIN OR GRIEF..NO EXCUSE..
The doctor who prescribed Frenchs beta blocker should be charged with manslaughter or reckless endangerment. That MD should’ve know that someone with type 1 diabetes would not react well to this beta blocker.
The child is not responsible for her death. The child is responsible for the accident. The driver is responsible for the child's death because, she was not driving responsibly. There is a reason why there are a speed limits.
im 50/50 with the kid getting hit suv couldnt see the car hitting the kid and i find it hard to believe she was truly going 60 since her car isnt that damaged
Nicky D if she was going 60 wouldn’t she have been up the other cars arse if that one was going 30? Regardless why is a 14 yr old allowed on a motorized scoter at night in the middle of the road ? In Australia children can’t get a probational license until they are 18 and have had more than 200 hrs supervised driving experience .They are also not allowed to have a v8 or drive over 80kms , even in a 100km zone it has reduced deaths on the road . New Zealand and England are implementing driver courses instead of fines which I think is great .
I believe that the first car is not responsible for the death of the girl it's a second car is responsible for the deaths of the little girl because the little girl hit the first car knocking the little girl down off of the scooter so then the second car runs over the little girl causing her death of the little girl

21:00 This shouldn't be possible if the car was built with modern technology so the roof cannot collapse so hard from just rolling over. Bad car construction IMHO. A car should protect the driver and passengers from "normal" accidents, and this seems a normal accident. Of course, if a huge cliff falls over your car, that is not normal, etc.
In the first accident, I would assume a seizure. Many things can trigger a seizure, but I'm an epileptic, so I know seizures. Someone coming out of a seizure will appear drunk, all their brain synapses just fired all at once...Weak as a baby and passing-out are common. The ironic thing is, EMTs and ER Docs and nurses have no clue. Unless you tell them you're epileptic, they'll never figure it out. I was born with epilepsy, it appears nowhere in my medical charts...I intend to keep it that way. Time and memory stop during a seizure, your brain stops working...It's like pushing the reset button on a computer. Back in the 'good old days', a seizure could get a person burned at the stake or hanged...Possessed by demons. The forces involved in a traffic accident are unpredictable, plane crashes produce even more unexplainable circumstances. The girl lived, her father died...Blaming the girl for surviving is ludicrous. When you accelerate your body to a potentially fatal speed, the worst can happen. I've been hit by bicycle riders twice, both times I saw them coming and stopped, they ran into me. This girl placed herself in harm's way, She lost her bet. Blaming the car drivers is pathetic.
@@denisemetzger305 ......The list of things that can trigger a seizure is long. Some are only a one-off, unlikely to be repeated. In one case, just turning off the light and the room instantly going full dark put one person down into a full seizure.

Seriously! I have seen SO many people on their phone while driving. One lady, at my kids' school, was trying to back up into a spot WHILE watching something on her phone. @@lkball00 as an Aussie I had to do the Maths to convert speeds, but 60 mph is crazy-fast for a suburban area!

Well done Sir. You more than likely saved a life. Safe driving in your truck...happy trails lol.

Motorized scooters are dangerous - The girl borrowed the scooter, which sounds like she wasn't experienced riding them.
Clearly this Stacy was NOT old enough to ride the scooter on the road. She needed to KNOW the road rules & OBEY them !!!!!!!
REALLY surprised truck driver wasn’t in trouble!
Re enactments are stupidly annoying tbh
Why is it cutting out on the last story?
Are USA trucks required to have a rear red warning light lit when they're parked on the side of the road at night?
Sorry had to stop and giggle when he said “seat bags and airbags aside “😳😬
So sad it what happened guess it will never stop moment in time when people dont think 😭
It could have been worse for both the semi and the scooter. It could have been a 6,000 ton freight train. Going 55 miles per hour. Scratch that for all the crashes.
And that is why I no longer drive.
MEDICAL REASONS ARE AS GOOD AS DRUNK DRIVER..STAY OFF THE ROAD IF YOUR SICK..CALL A CAB LIKE THE DRUNKS DO..NO ONE NEEDS TO DIE OVER IT OR SPEND THE RE ST OF A LIFE IN PAIN OR GRIEF..NO EXCUSE..
5:52 seatbags and airbags
I love 💗 watching accidents investigators on the RUclips channel app
5:52 “sitbags and airbags aside”
I believe that the first car is not responsible for the death of the girl it's a second car is responsible for the deaths of the little girl because the little girl hit the first car knocking the little girl down off of the scooter so then the second car runs over the little girl causing her death of the little girl
One way you can tell this is a Canadian production is that the host, though sounding like an American (i.e., U.S. citizen), he says “maths,” which is the British word, rather than “math,” which Americans use.
Unnecessary annoying background music throughout the episodes.
Still she was on the wrong side of the road in the dark with no lights.....
Ah the head drop test. Way too many people get subjected to that as children.
That's why she shouldn't be driving if it impairs her her ability driving she shouldn't be driving
Legit nobody wears their seatbelts!!
Need too either make all Vehichals. The old way .Or have the The Bars updated ..too fit the. Vechicals so then it will hopefully helpAgain
5:53 I think he meant to say "seatbelts," not "seatbags," whatever those are... 😂
35:36 think about how many ppl driving around with there spare probably close to falling out from under vehicle due to rust and ppl wonder why vehicles inspection is a thing
The first case was not due to the woman having a seizure, she was having diabetic issues. If you watched it, you'd know that.
@@denisemetzger305 ......The list of things that can trigger a seizure is long. Some are only a one-off, unlikely to be repeated.
In one case, just turning off the light and the room instantly going full dark put one person down into a full seizure.
@@Stephen-cr3sc yep, you didn't watch the first case all the way through. Bye
To me she should have been held responsible for the death of that woman she knew she was diabetic for 27 years anybody that takes any kind of medication knows better than to drive to or operate a vehicle of any kind and she did who was responsible for the death of that woman
I wished they did this type of investigation on my brother death since he died in a semi truck accident that resulted in death
