I've had the Casino Lights CD forever, and just recently found this video. There are differences in the 2 versions. Was the Casino Lights CD done in studio with crowd mixing?
No, the used live tracks and added horns and some overdubs in the studio. I must say though, The yellow jackets and Sanborn stuff is very close except for some the horn section parts added and a little studio magic here and there. This sounds like an entirely different take than the casino lights cd, so perhaps there were multiple versions of these vocal tunes, or in fact this is not that the performance they used. I listened to the casino lights cd perhaps many hundreds of times, and the grooves, fills of all instruments , instrumental solos and general vocal performances and even some of the basic changes are different, so maybe there were multiple nights or performances to choose from, because these performances there are, imho, too different to be the source material.
Having now gone back and listened to Casino lights, there’s no way these tracks were used there. They were either completely redone in the studio (the tempos, grooves overall arrangements, solos, and fills and vocal performances are completely different) or they are alternate performances. In fact, it sounds more like the vocal tunes were completely redone in the studio, while the other instruments stuff (yellowjackets, sanborn ect) were mostly live except added horn section stuff.
I own this vinyl since 40 years. Yes there's a difference. I think, there were several dates at Montreux for this concert. Honestly guys, I'm sure the filled up this hall several times.

Who wrote Sure Enough and is there another version in existence? Such a jam.
OK, it's by Cynthia Weil and Tom Snow.

Is there a better sideman in music than David Sanborn? I mean, seriously...
sanborn on sax! not brecker :)
Silly me. I guess I'm ready for an Alzheimer diagnosis. Thanks ;)
Where is Brecker referenced ?
Did not see this name appear in the video description or any comments besides yours. Just curious.
