honestly a story about the inner struggle of a Templar who has to hide his psychic powers getting sent off to the Deathwatch where his abilities can flourish sounds awesome
He's got the black Templar cross, a golden lion, three blood drops on his casting hand, lightning striking an anvil on his knee... I definitely buy this guy being Deathwatch, seems like he goes around taking trinkets from every chapter he serves with. Or maybe even off of brothers that fall in battle. Could be he wears the symbol of a legion that despises him because of a strong connection to the person that wore it prior, maybe a Gimli and Legolas sorta situation. Anyhow awesome conversion, awesome video!
The irony of Black Templar bits being used to make a Librarian gives life to my soul :) I do love the idea of a Black Templar being a latent Psyker and then going to join Deathwatch.
Exploring conversions seems like an interesting take. Some could be more like this model, where you try to improve on the concept. Others might be legitimate creative pieces, that you can repaint or finish. The market should be a lot smaller, so I expect you can find decent deals.
Yeah, there are a bunch of really cool ideas out there that are just barely started projects, or something happened and they never got finished. I've been saving a ton of listings trying to decide where to go next :)
This was a great conversion, no doubt! Anyone who gets bent out of shape because it's "not canon" is not the sort of person you'd want to play a game with anyway.
I like the idea of making the converaions aomething that doesnt exist in the universe for whatever reason, but being able to use it as proxy if needed.great piece and hope you can find more cool converaions to reacue!
I have never played Warhammer 40k. Wouldn’t even know where to start. Love to see the imagination and skill you out into these projects. Keep it going!
I love this rescue, actually I love all your rescues. Was hoping to see that hand get a little magical, with some lightning or maybe a sinister glow, but the model looks so badass that it doesn't really need it to be complete.
When I first started, I would use those plastic army tanks and other vehicles to stand in for 40K vehicles. They would get a prime and a fast spray paint to match the color of my troops. A wash a bit of dry brush and some decals. You could never use them in any kind of tournament, but they were fine for the kitchen table on a Saturday afternoon.
Really like the end result Casey! If I could give one piece of critique, I think some of the time lapse parts during assembly (dremeling and gluing) might be easier to observe, follow and replicate if you just used normal speed footage of what you were doing instead. Just my two cents and great job!
Thanks! I've always felt like Stormcast models are GW's attempt at making fantast space marines, they have very similar poses and sculpts in the range. Less so with the newest ones, but for the most part I do see the shared DNA.
I like to convert my models. I had a high elf dragon which came with a spare head, so I put that head on a giant, and also gave it a dragon's tail. Added a line of spikes on the back as well. I was super proud of it, I think it came out really well.
Dude, this was awesome... Top notch storytelling. I mostly know 40k through playing the tabletop rpgs, but you make me want to try to paint some minis and play the OG game!
Awesome video. I've had this model lying around half built since I lost interest in AoS. It will now become a Librarian for one of my ad-hoc Space Marine Combat Patrol/GDF Firefight armies.
So much heresy here! Abhor that Witch! That being said, a significant portion of my Black Templars are Stormcast conversions. So I whole heartedly endorse both the original idea and your finished project. Awesome stuff!
I think that I might have the base model, it's a AoS one, came with the magazine/booklet intro thing. It's the only AoS model that I have...grabbed it when the store was giving away some of the magazines in the end.
The model is really good for a stormcast model, one of the better ones they've put out. So if you do happen to have it then that's not a bad one to get from one of those combo book/magazine things!
i liked the look of the other half of the staff to the original weapon it looked interesting also am completely new to this stuff and when i finally decide to get mini's i would just get them to create something don't really care about actually playing the game though but thats just me
Thanks! The bases are pretty simple, glue goes down on the entire base and it gets dipped into a bucket of beach sand. The color over the top is pigment powder that gets brushed on. Hope that helps :)
Bloodywood were a tonne of fun at Download festival this year. I'm also seeing Mastodon under you apron. You better be seeing them on the Mega Monster tour. Us poor shlubs in the UK, might have GW HQ on our door step, but we haven't had a proper Mastodon tour since 2019 (cries in cock-a-ney guvner')
haha, good eye! I bought tickets to Bloodywood in my hometown and ended up not being able to go, I was so bummed because I've been a fan before the first album came out, I still haven't seen them. Mastadon comes around every so often, I saw about 6 months ago, and Gojira just before that. The Mega Monster tour isn't coming anywhere near me or I'd totally be in. I live in a weird concert deadzone, we get a handful of good bands coming through but not very often. I usually have to travel at least 3 or 4 hours to hit a good festival, and those are few and far between, so I feel your pain on not getting a proper tour coming through. Funny though, Brann Dailor comments on my videos from time to time, which absolutely blows my mind, so if you ever see him in the comments you could literally ask him when Mastadon is coming back to the UK lol.

Man... I really want to play 40K I'm just poor af.
honestly a story about the inner struggle of a Templar who has to hide his psychic powers getting sent off to the Deathwatch where his abilities can flourish sounds awesome
I really like it to
I love it! A good story can really justify a conversion like this :)
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I would love to see a really weird but cool conversion of a model from ebay again.
At that point he would become a black shield.
A good point, however- suffer not the witch to live ;)

Ah so he truly hails from the blood ravens
So he’s a Bloodraven
came here to say that. Ha!@@charlesman8722
The irony of Black Templar bits being used to make a Librarian gives life to my soul :) I do love the idea of a Black Templar being a latent Psyker and then going to join Deathwatch.
I like how the black skull on the tilting shield makes that detail look more sinister than usual.
I don't play W40K, but I do love watching talented storytellers and painters. This came out amazing!
Your "kit bashing" videos are my favourite, it's so creative. That and when you 3d print add-ons. I could watch it all day! Glad to have you back.

Yeah, there are a bunch of really cool ideas out there that are just barely started projects, or something happened and they never got finished. I've been saving a ton of listings trying to decide where to go next :)
If I had painted this miniature there is no way that left hand would not have ended up as the Infinity Gauntlet.
Great work.
It's pretty perfect for it. It probably wouldn't take much to bend that thumb around too, really get that snap look.
You did a terrific job! Feels like a 40k limited edition model! Keep it up
It is. There is only one.
Cue the Queen music.
🎵 who wants to slay chaos foreva 🎶
The ork with treads was pretty cool! Totally do conversion rescues, I think that is a good opportunity.
That shoud be a gorkamorka model. Imagine him zooming around the tabletop hunting for scrap.
“I know they don’t… and I also don’t care”
More people need this attitude
sick conversion, really like where you went with it! looking forward to a continuation of this series
This was a great conversion, no doubt! Anyone who gets bent out of shape because it's "not canon" is not the sort of person you'd want to play a game with anyway.
Conversion rescue series?
In a way, most Eps are conversions
True, but it would be fun to see taking those conversions and taking them further. Kinda like the Stompa episode 5 months ago
He already does. He converts sh*ttly painted models into amazingly painted models.
The irony of you using Black Templar bitz to kitbash a Librarian is fantastic.
Beautiful work. I can still see glimmers of the Stormcast Eternal, but it really reads Space Marine!

Love to see the imagination and skill you out into these projects.

this helps a lot as inspiration for making my loyal tsons have a more court-wizard feel, with conscious emulation of librarians and chaplains
I appreciate the shots of you cleaning the model. Just very satisfying.
I love this rescue, actually I love all your rescues.

I love seeing ebay minis because they remind me even with my arthritis and nerve damage, that my paint jobs arnt as shit as I see them as.

I feel the thing it needed to really say, "I am 100% a 40K model" was to somehow swop out that lions head for an aquila
That would have been a good touch, I may have been able to print one out or something and gotten it on him. Something to try out for sure!
Love this type of project. How different people approach the same concept. Dialing it up to 11. Great!
Great job - It was IMO a great success converting it into something that looks like a space-marine, with only hints of the previous Stormcast model.
Thanks! I've always felt like Stormcast models are GW's attempt at making fantast space marines, they have very similar poses and sculpts in the range. Less so with the newest ones, but for the most part I do see the shared DNA.
Wild, we've got the same FLGS! I always love picking up old metal models from CK's consignment area and seeing if I can spruce them up.
Haha nice! I'm in there every few weeks or so, say hi if you see me :)
I love your videos. You just have the best attitude about what this hobby is all about. Keep it up!
Looks sick, man. Great job!
So this is the 40K version of writing "Volcanic Island" and drawing a volcano on an Island card in MTG? I like it.
Lol, yeah pretty much! But also you could actually use this model in a tournament, whereas your volcanic island proxy isn't gonna fly at a GT.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Sadly true.

Great job! The character looks awesome.
I know you went with a Bt theme, but that Lion on his chest would have made him a perfect librarian proxy for Dark Angels!
Great stuff, you should totally start a new series where you rescue conversions.
If you do Ork conversions, they should be mostly Deathskulls because all they do is loot and kitbash stuff
I really thought that was like a thanos librarian conversion. Give him a purple painted head and a glaive and it looks like he is snapping his glove
Now I want to go hunt for librarian pieces. Not that they have librarians and Terminator armor
What a stunning model. Truly unique.
He could be a deathwatch blackshield originating from the black templars that he left because of its psychic powers
This should have been a Thanos Infinity Gauntlet conversion
Well, that turned out great.
No challenge to big or small. very nice.
Glad to see the finger is healing!! also nice band aid!
it's getting there! still not great, but my daughter's Gabby's Dollhouse cat bandaids sure help :)
great job! You composed the scene and the conversion very well - it is very convincing. great thoughts on using imagination.
Since you were going Deathwatch it could have been cool to do him up as a blackshield librarian
Love stumbling upon this video, I have this model in the sprue collecting just right now. You just saved me 38 CAD on a librarian.
haha, awesome, glad I could help!
Wow I was absolutely not expecting to see one of my local game stores in a random vid! Had to stop and double take -- what are the odds?😲
Biggest little city eh? That store is great through, I make my way down there pretty regularly, say hi if you see me :)
@eBayMiniatureRescues yessir! That's awesome man, definitely will! You really hit my algorithm lately haha, what a cool thing to happen :)
You have to show this video to Eons of Battle!!!!! Such a amazing conversion and he would absolutely love it!
Great stuff as always Casey, I might have made him a Dark Angel so the Lion iconography made a little more sense but I do love what you did with him.
ooh, that would be perfect. Most of these stormcast have the same iconography too, could be a good project!
i'd love to see more conversions coming thru
That Vince sticker got me rolling on the floor XD

You just created a homebrew Space Marine chapter. Lions of Sigmar.
That's pretty good, I like that :)
If I'm being honest the end result just looks like a chaplain... So great job! As a Templar player I approve
WOOOOOOOW, that became so much more legit with the primer O_O
The primer really does fill in the blanks on conversions, that's when you really know if it's gonna work or not.
Awesome Work as always

Is it just me or does the pose look like he's about to hit the most warp-infused tennis serve of all time?
lol, definitely!
Hello! Great work with this model! I was wondering how do you make the base's for models like these? Seem super simple yet looks great!

Hi, just wondering if you have an issue with the LA heating up in your ultrasonic. I tried LA in mine for the first time today, and while it worked wonders on some Poxwalkers, the LA itself was heated up, almost like a hot tap water.
Also, great job on the rescue, and repaint. Looks amazing.

how do you get all the paint off of the figure
i have my own but i want to try again
ive heard isopropyl alcohol does the trick but you said something different and i would just want to know what you do since you seem like an expert on that front
I use a concentrated degreaser called LA's Totally Awesome. You can put minis in that for a few days and brush off the paint, or use a sonic jewelry cleaner like I do. It also evaporates much faster so you end up spending more money than it's worth. Simple Green, Purple Power, LA's totally awesome, or any other cheap concentrated degreaser is usually the way to go.
