  • This week we take a look at one of, if not the absolutely most, iconic character in all of the Warhammer Universe, and give him a helping hand.
Commissar Yarrick is such a great model, and even though we can't use him on the tabletop anymore, I wanted to add him to my gaming collection for nostalgia, and possibly as a proxy for something else to actually get time on the table.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  9 месяцев назад +1

@@skullbros3284 such a good model! I would do a couple of things. The troll Hag arm with the bag is pretty iconic, but there are very nice 3d prints you can get of a Female River Troll that are floating around on cults3d. Even if you don’t have a 3d printer there are Etsy sellers selling the model already printed for $28, so not a bad way to go if you wanted the original look. Otherwise you can set up an eBay search for a Forgeworld Troggoth Hag on eBay and have it email you whenever something new pops up, I’ve seen that piece you’re missing for sale before, all by itself, so it’s possible to find, but might take some patience. Last thing you could do is get hold of a river Troggoth arm and convert the mini so it doesn’t have a bag, but the arm is pretty similar, it could even be doing something else, like holding into a model or weapon or something.
It really depends on how quickly you want to use the model, the 3d print is the quickest, and easier with an Etsy seller, and doing a conversion will get it done pretty quick too.
Now that I think about it, you could even use some greenstuff and some kind of bone bit to make it like she got her arm cut off, put a guy with a sword on the base with her and make a dual out of it.
Lots of ways to go! I hope that helps :)

  • @scootiepuffjr

I have a friend who passed away years ago. Due to emotional circumstances, his armies were eventually lost to time, his mother giving them away years later. My friend was SOMEHOW able to find several of his old armies on ebay through complete random chance, models he knew were our friend's because he had helped him personally paint them (this was about 10 years after our friend's death). Our friend played Imperial Guard and Yarrick passed through my hands a few times. This original paint reminds me SO much of "our" Yarrick, that it brings so much up in me emotionally. It is almost impossible to tell if this Yarrick belonged to Bob, but in so many ways I pray it is. What this channel is able to do in inspiring in so many forms. The fact that you are able to resurrect these minis and often restore them to what the original painter intended is such a beautiful process. You give me hope and I love your channel. I wish I was able to support you more.

Having that little bit of extra impetus to make a model look especially good is always a plus, and he looks great! Gentle warning: Acetone will also soften any cyanoacrylate based glues like superglue and any 'instant grab' type glues. On old metal models this will weaken or unglue the joints. On your Mrs nails it will strip her nail varnish (nail varnish is mostly superglue and pigment)

It may not be lore accurate, because I am no expert, but my own personal 'head cannon' is that Yarrik is going to go on and on living to an impossible age. This happens because the firm belief of uncountable orks across the galaxy is "Old Bale Eye kant be ded, kuz Gazkul asn't killed im!" Its a measure of the Great Prophet Gazkul himself that he has such a fine enemy. They orks have made up their mind about it, theres going to be a real fine final scrap between them, and thats that.

I got a feeling we haven’t seen the last of old bale eye yet…. Maybe a new Yarrick dreadnought so even in death he can go toe to toe with gaz?

Nice video. Was to see the respect you had for this person's model. Our paintjobs are a tiny part of us.
On a less serious note, bring back the humble bavk banner GW!

A much better way to paper flags is to make them double sided. Thats pretty straight forward just mirror the image on a editing program of your choosing. Then cut out the two sided flag and glue the two parts together with PVA. Gently use the handle of a brush or toothpick to make "ripples" in the flag by rolling it over the round surface, this will make it actually look like the flag is flapping in the wind. This eliminates the need to paint the back of it black, as that looks strange. Just a tip from a historical wargamer who is used to making flags for Napoleonic battalions.

I had and still have this model and actively played 2nd ed 40k with imperial guard. But to be honest i never ever used him in battle in shop or against friends as imperial guard characters were not a strong point of the army back then, And he was alot of points.

Nice! I have quite a few minis like that, where they just sit because playing in a competitive setting just doesn't work for the army, at least they are a pretty awesome addition to the collection overall.
I have a small IG army that I am planning on playing small games with friends that this one is going in. I've never played IG and I doubt what I have is any good, but I imagine it will be worth it to see the model on the table again :)

This has gotta be one of your best, both for the artistry and the story. Thanks for doing him justice. If you ever feel like rescuing one of those old Rogue Trader era women in power armour, that would be awesome. I've seen a couple of those around UK ebay recently.

I do like those Rogue Trader minis, I'm always on the lookout for the women especially, as they tend to go for quite a bit of money, hopefully I can find them for a halfway decent price!

What type of lamp is that you are using? Looks perfect for mini painting. Also, love what you do and how much diligence and care you put into your content. Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate that :) The lamp I'm currently using is the Redgrass Games R9 lamp. It's nice, they sent it to me a while back to test out. The Kickstarter is still taking late pledges I believe, but it's a little pricey ($222) in my opinion. Still, a nice lamp if you want something super premium!

You can pick up the older models for alright prices on ebay. I paid quite a bit for this one, but there were definitely ones that were less than $30. Worth it for a pretty nice model :) I try and rely heavily on Windsor and Newton size 1 for almost everything. The tip is nicer than any tiny brush I own lol.
