    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Год назад +1

      @@skullbros3284 such a good model! I would do a couple of things. The troll Hag arm with the bag is pretty iconic, but there are very nice 3d prints you can get of a Female River Troll that are floating around on cults3d. Even if you don’t have a 3d printer there are Etsy sellers selling the model already printed for $28, so not a bad way to go if you wanted the original look. Otherwise you can set up an eBay search for a Forgeworld Troggoth Hag on eBay and have it email you whenever something new pops up, I’ve seen that piece you’re missing for sale before, all by itself, so it’s possible to find, but might take some patience. Last thing you could do is get hold of a river Troggoth arm and convert the mini so it doesn’t have a bag, but the arm is pretty similar, it could even be doing something else, like holding into a model or weapon or something.
      It really depends on how quickly you want to use the model, the 3d print is the quickest, and easier with an Etsy seller, and doing a conversion will get it done pretty quick too.
      Now that I think about it, you could even use some greenstuff and some kind of bone bit to make it like she got her arm cut off, put a guy with a sword on the base with her and make a dual out of it.
      Lots of ways to go! I hope that helps :)

    I have a friend who passed away years ago. Due to emotional circumstances, his armies were eventually lost to time, his mother giving them away years later. My friend was SOMEHOW able to find several of his old armies on ebay through complete random chance, models he knew were our friend's because he had helped him personally paint them (this was about 10 years after our friend's death). Our friend played Imperial Guard and Yarrick passed through my hands a few times. This original paint reminds me SO much of "our" Yarrick, that it brings so much up in me emotionally. It is almost impossible to tell if this Yarrick belonged to Bob, but in so many ways I pray it is. What this channel is able to do in inspiring in so many forms. The fact that you are able to resurrect these minis and often restore them to what the original painter intended is such a beautiful process. You give me hope and I love your channel. I wish I was able to support you more.

      Inquisitorial retinue for the win! You can always do so many cool things with the inquisition line. I remember seeing some guys retinue being a "nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!" Theme from the Monty Python skit. Great stuff can be done (model wise) when an inquisitor gets to just hijack anyone from anywhere into his service to the imperium. It really reminds me of the command squad from the Warhammer dawn of war imperial guard army in the dark crusade expansion: Marines next to a crazed psycher and some fanatical monks wielding giant chainsaws (evisceraters).

    A much better way to paper flags is to make them double sided. Thats pretty straight forward just mirror the image on a editing program of your choosing. Then cut out the two sided flag and glue the two parts together with PVA. Gently use the handle of a brush or toothpick to make "ripples" in the flag by rolling it over the round surface, this will make it actually look like the flag is flapping in the wind. This eliminates the need to paint the back of it black, as that looks strange. Just a tip from a historical wargamer who is used to making flags for Napoleonic battalions.

    Looks amazing. The bannner is great, but it could have been better if you had glued the paper onto a piece of tinfoil. That way you could have added some motion to the flag, making it more dramatic.
    Truthfully, I've never glued paper to tinfoil for a back banner/flag, but have painted basic designs onto tinfoil for banners. You could possibly also use the metal from a tin of superglue, but I guess that would also depend on how thick the metal of the tube is. Just be careful not to cut your fingers.

      I feel like I've cut myself enough lately lol. I've definitely seen flags done this way and they do look great, more permanent too, something to think about for the next one!

    Gentle warning: Acetone will also soften any cyanoacrylate based glues like superglue and any 'instant grab' type glues. On old metal models this will weaken or unglue the joints. On your Mrs nails it will strip her nail varnish (nail varnish is mostly superglue and pigment)

      That was actually a piece of metal flashing that never got removed. I remember doing that to some of my models when I got them out of a blister pack way back in the day. There wasn't really any way to know out of the package what was supposed to be there and what wasn't, so a lot of the time pieces like that just got painted assuming they were part of the model. It fell off when I was cleaning the model, and the part where it was attached got cleaned and sanded down.

    What varnish are you using through your airbrush
    Do you a certain type that f airbrush to spray Varnish on

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Год назад

      I generally use Vallejo varnishes. They come in dropper bottles and I've never had any issues with them getting cloudy or anything. Testers was my usual go to, they had nice rattle can varnishes, but they are hard to find these days.
      I do use my Badger Patriot 105 for varnishing, that way I can be a little more aggressive while cleaning it and keep my nicer airbrush ready for paint. But as long as it gets cleaned out right when you use it, you can really use it with any airbrush you want.

    Does simple green concentrate work fine in a ultrasonic? We don’t have la’s totally awesome here

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Год назад +1

      Yeah! I used to use Simple Green and it definitely works. Most, if not all, concentrated cleaners should work. The switch to LA's for most people was due to price. In the US you can get a bottle at pretty much all of the $1 stores, and there are plenty of those in the US, so it's easy to get and cheap! But the chemical makeup is almost identical in most cleaners like that so whatever you have access too should do the job :)
