We bought this same machine almost 2 years ago. Absolutely love it. This particular model was important because my wife grinds her own beans and wanted a machine that did both a pot AND single cup with grinds. The fact the single cup can use either grinds or K-cups makes this the perfect coffee maker.
Yeah these machines are nice. The single serve side is nice. Thanks for Sharing your story, I love to hear everyone's story!!! Take care and thanks for Watching!!!
Nicely done review. You covered everything that someone needs to know. You went into details where needed and pointed out features that are important in making a buying decision. Well done.
One of the pluses a lot of people don't think about is the fact that the single serve does not use a reservoir. At first glance you would think this is an inconvenience, but reservoirs tend to get nasty and you're using fresh water every time with this unit. Believe me, I got tired of cleaning out that Reservoir after a Time. I just ordered this thing
Traded in for a Keurig version of this on second day of ownership. The Hamilton Beach's problem is the K-cup side. No way to choose the volume of water dispensed. The "NEEDLE" error message was constant despite taking it apart for cleaning. Only a TINY amount of water was released for the cup aide. It took a long time to dispense. The Keurig version was $25 more. Well worth it!!!
Yes, you CAN determine the amount or water dispensed: put more in the top for more water; put less in the top for less water. If that doesn't work, the machine may be defective *OR* you didn't push the needle down until it firmly "clicked"
Thank you for recording all steps from unboxing to brewing. We have two separate machines and would like a dual brewer. This helped us to see how it works, and it looks great and we are sold! On a side note, the bold feature works with K-cup pods when it has coffee grounds inside. But I agree, using ground coffee in the adaptable pod on the K-cup side isn't as smoothe as a regular pot of coffee.
Thank you for the video. I can’t believe it doesn’t shut off after 2 hours, the box says it does. Just purchased it but didn’t open the box yet, now returning it.
@@JustADad I usually try and stick to some local small batch roasters (microroasters?). I've found their coffee to have less acidity than most big brands. I've yet to try any of the K-cups, but I might give it a try, with this machine being on sale locally. You have any favorites?
i also have this model and it works well and no hassle. Only thing I dont like is the single cup grinds holder because it is a mess. I even found a filter that works but its still a mess. I just use the k cup and main carafe. Good for the price and not junky. regular and bold switch works well also
I like the details of putting the water in and the actual brewing process. Only review that showed how much room you need to get the water into the back water reservoir!!! Big information and helpful for my limited space. Excellent review
You did a great job with your review. Appreciate the details. I watched another review on same unit and guy said that while brewing a Single Cup that his pot "warmer" would be on? That doesn't sound right. Maybe like you said when it's finished making the cup could turn the Brew button off and that would help but still that doesn't sound right. If you have anything to add please do. Just purchased ours and delivery is in a week. Guess we'll find out. Thanks again!
Thanks for Watching and your kind words. I think maybe the warming plate will stay on while you brew a single cup on the k cup side but I am not sure. Thanks Again.
Had this machine, the single serve side is a nightmare, first of all the grounds basket screen is too small and very difficult to clean, it tends to over flow because it does not drain as fast as the water flow, which causes the grounds to rise in the basket and clog the needle which needs to be removed and cleaned out with a paper clip after a few brews , we purchased new baskets from thier website and they would not close properly ! We got rid of the flex brew, and purchased the "SCOOP" and problems solved, no more overflows, no needle to clean out, no more grounds in the coffee, and super easy to clean !
Several comments complain about NO brew strength, or cup-size choices, on the single side. This is NOT a Keurig. Simply choose how much water you put into the right side (ounces), and that determines both your volume and brew strength 👍
ON THE USING THE BROWN K CUT YOU HAVE TO PUT A K CUP FILTER IN THEN THE COFFIE THAT WILL MAKE CLEAN UP REAL EASY ,YOU GET LIKE 100 K FILTERS FOR AROUND 5.00 BUCKS BUT WELL WORTH IT TEY IT ...
Great video! Very informative without a lot of useless information. The only suggestion I have is to show the storage area in the k-cup side for the extra basket. Also, before I used it for the first time, I ran it through the vinegar,/water rinse cycle just to be sure it was clean before making that first delicious pot of coffee. Thanks for the time you took to give such a great explanation and description.

Thanks for the video. Do you know how small of a pot of coffee you can make? Does it have to be over 6 cups or can you make a pot that is about 2-4 cups?
You can brew what eversize you want. It will brew the amount of water you pour in the back. So if you only pour in 2 cups it will brew 2 cups of water over your 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds. I would not go any lower that 2 cups of water. if you want 3 cups then use 3 tablespoons of coffee. Hope this helps. Thanks for Watching!!
Great Question. I still have most of them, I have tried to sell a few of them but used coffee makes just don't sell for much. I am keeping most of them to do comparison videos. Thanks for Watching!!!
Thank you for the detailed video - just got this coffee machine for Christmas and really like it so far! Does yours beep when the coffee is done brewing? Mine does not and I find that kind of odd, wondering if something is wrong with mine.
You can use paper filters just fine. You have to buy the reusable filter and it works good just a bit more clean up with it. with the paper filter you just go to trach can and dump it out.
2 year old thrown in the trash today as the K cup side started pouring boiling water into the reservoir on the pot side. Bought a Keurig instead. Not the first Hamilton Beach thing which has disappointed.
I have this coffee maker, all the pods explode and it’s all over, allover the coffee maker. In the coffee mug. We have even tried putting a needle prick in the pods, still does it
I bought mine a couple years ago at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20per cent off coupon. It finally stopped working today. I would press brew and it would within seconds go to the keep warm setting . My son "rebooted" it by unplugging it , waiting a minute and replugging it. Did you ever hear of such a thing?
Does anyone else find, when using the coffee pod feature, you have to push the lid down extremely hard to get it to snap shut? I've taken out the inserts to make sure they're sitting properly and they are, but I have to push the lid so hard I feel like it's going to break.
It is a little hard but it does not feel like its gonna break, Maybe something is out of alignment. Maybe try pushing the pod down on the bottom needle first then close the lid. Thanks for Watching and let me know how it goes.
My favorite is my Bunn speed brew because it brews a pot in 4 min. It taste great. This one also brewed a good pot of coffee it just took a bit longer. Thanks for watching.
Great review. Answered most of my questions. Was wondering if you can turn the hot plate back on after the 2 hours without hitting the brew button? You are awesome. I watched some other guy and he knew nothing, didn't read the directions and couldn't even set the clock.
It was fine for over a year but now it's leaking. I opened the bottom but somehow I cannot detach the back. They made it bit different from your other video, and it won't let me open it...
I bought this machine 2 months ago from Bestbuy and I loved it until I did NOT! the K-cup side stopped heating/boiling water. Once I put any temperature water inside and turn it on, it immediately pumps that water without heating it. I looked everywhere to find a solution. But unfortunately couldn't.
Sorry to hear that, I looks like a well built machine but you never really know what they do on the inside. Thanks for watching and maybe the manufacturer will replace it for free.
You just sold me sir! Just ordered one from Wally world should be here today actually! I ordered it at 6am and they emailed me saying it will be delivered the SAME DAY by 9pm. That's just amazing service. Anyway did you have to "break it in" before your coffee tasted right or did it work good for the very start?
Good choice! Just run a pot of water through the coffee side side without any coffee in it and run brew though on the k cup side without a k cup installed. It is just a hot water rinse and your good to go. Thanks for Watching!!
Thanks for watching and your kind words!!! That was so nice of you to take the time and leave such a nice comment. Your kind words really do mean so much!!! I am so glad it helped and this is the reason I do my Videos To Help Others!!!!
This coffee maker is a great idea with huge problems.. The hose for the caraf side tends to break or detach. I loved mine for the almost year it worked. I had another one I received as a gift, and the burner stopped heating. I replaced it with this one, and the inner hose detached from the housing, spilling water all over the counter. (See the number of 'fixes' on you tube for this problem). Don't Buy It!
Thanks for Letting me know. Out of the box these seem like good coffee makers but Hamilton Beach is just not know for making things that last. thanks for the update!!
Purchased this coffee maker twice! Both lasted a little over a year.It does have it's issues with the caraf side leaking coffee all over the counter and the K-cup side stopping mid-stream. Out the box this coffee maker does well, but long term....not so much. According to reviews, this seems to be a major issue....the leakage.
I made a video on it. Yes you can add a water filter to help with the taste. You can also just used Filtered water, just don't use distilled water. ruclips.net/video/kVetuBVAtwE/видео.html
👉👉👉Why are there some models with the same model number with a dim display and others with a bright display? Again to same model number 49976. If anybody can help THX in advance.
@@JustADad I just ordered one from Amazon few days ago. Hasn't arrived yet, but I'm hoping it as a bright display. Looking at some of the reviews of the same model number from a few years ago they have a dim display. But the more up-to-date videos they have a brighter display. Maybe they changed up and did not tell the public. Wish I knew before I receive it. By the way, have you had any problems with exploding K-Cups? Most folks believe that the spike in the bottom of the K-cup holder gets clogged up and pressure builds up. Resulting in rupture. Thx. Great video!1👍👍👍 My old FlexBrew system that I had from Hamilton Beach lasted six years. Hoping this will last just as long.
@@JustADad Update: I just received mine today it did not have the bluish colored lights display. Apparently they must have removed the blue film or tint. Because it is white display...so it looks grayish white. But it is bright enough to see easily. Additionally on the bottom of the box that was marked copyright 2020 so this just may have been a new generation of the same model number... without that super dim display. Still wish it was blue though!😀 THX again for making a great video!
You keep saying "percolator" when you mean "drip coffee maker." To us folks of a certain age, "percolator" is a dirty word. That's because a percolator's function is to cycle boiling water through the grounds many times (often undetermined). This means the resulting coffee has a burnt taste that is quite unpleasant. That's why the first home drip coffee makers (often made by "Mr. Coffee") blew away percolators within a year or so of their introduction. Now, some people like and prefer the burnt coffee taste produced by a percolator (perhaps as a result of habit). That's why percolators are still around today, although they're a little more difficult to find. However, most fans of coffee (not just connoisseurs) are spoiled by drip coffee, prefer it and would never touch a percolator. Keurig uses the drip coffee model, the only difference is that only one cup is brewed at a time. And what's that thing on the side? Is it a "sight"? Is it a "side glass"? No, it's a water gauge. And what's "a little here"? Oh, did you mean "handle"? Then say handle...try to use more precise language. After all, thousands of people watch your videos and they tend to get confused when you say something like, "This thingy here."
Thanks Randy for explaining the difference between Percolator and Drip. That makes a lot of sens now. I love the history behind What you said about Mr. Coffee Drip Coffee Makers. Yeah I know my words get mixed up sometimes. I am so new to this and I just get nervous, I was never the best speaker, in fact English was my worst subject, I was so lazy when it came to english in School. I wish now I had taken the time to learn what my teachers were teaching me. I will continue to work on my Videos. Thanks for your constructive Feedback and I will take it and work on what you have said. Thanks for watching and your support, I know its feedback like this I need to hear in order to be better at this. I truly want to be better at this, so thank you very much!!

I bought mine in late 2019 and today it finally kicked the bucket completely. It's cheap "made in china" crap as per usual. My 1970s coffee maker still works awesome but this new thing decided to leak water all over my counter this morning and the single side won't even brew now. 2 years and it's dead. What a freakin waste of money. I plugged my old ugly 70s one back in and well...guess I'll just stick with that until it finally breaks down. Hard to believe products got 10x worse as time went on. My 1974 dishwasher has even outlasted 3 of my neighbours brand new ones. lmao! yup, they've gone through 3 dishwashers since 2005. Never trust "made in china" products people.
Thanks for Sharing your story, I have heard that alot about these. that they leak water. My dad still used his Bunn coffee maker and it must be at least 15 years old. the one before that I think was over 20 years old. Thanks for Watching unfortunately these fancy coffee makers that use water pumps and electronics tend not too last. The traditional drip coffee maker does not have any moving parts and only has a heater that heats the water tend to last the longest.
@@JustADad My parents had a Bunn as well. It lasted about 15 years or so. These new coffee makers are garbage. I kicked my mine down the front stairs and out into the driveway I was so mad yesterday. At least I have my old machine that works just fine still. What's worse is, look at the bottom of your machine. It's got screws for a screwdriver that doesn't even exist in our country (canada) that is. I tried 20 different things to get it open so I could try and fix it, to no avail....hence why it got booted out the door. haha! Have a great day. Thanks for responding to me ;)

Thank you. Very helpful for first time coffee makers
So nice of you
I really like the poring water sound...LOL
I have this coffee maker, all the pods explode and it’s all over, allover the coffee maker. In the coffee mug. We have even tried putting a needle prick in the pods, still does it
great video! Just got mine. Do you need to unplug it after every use to turn it off or can it stay plugged in?
Thanks for Watching and you can leave it plugged in. I leave mine plugged in. If you are going to be gone for a couple weeks I would unplug it.
Great video! Buying one for my aunt and I think this one will be perfect.
Thanks for Watching and I hope she likes it.
Very detailed instructions which I appreciate. Thank you.
You are welcome! I am glad it helped, Thanks for Watching and your kind Words!!!
Fantastic review. I appreciate your thoroughness. I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to other videos.
Awesome, thank you!
No I have not heard about that. I am glad it worked. And thanks for commenting it might help others. Thanks for watching.
Does it have a charcoal filter on the water intake?
No you have to buy one and install it. They can be hard to find, I made a video on it. ruclips.net/video/kVetuBVAtwE/видео.html
Would Keurig pods fit?
Yes they will fit just fine. Thanks for Watching!!
Is the *Mister Coffee Maker* your favorite?
My favorite is my Bunn speed brew because it brews a pot in 4 min. It taste great. This one also brewed a good pot of coffee it just took a bit longer. Thanks for watching.
Great review. Answered most of my questions. Was wondering if you can turn the hot plate back on after the 2 hours without hitting the brew button? You are awesome. I watched some other guy and he knew nothing, didn't read the directions and couldn't even set the clock.
Thanks for the nice feedback, I am glad it helped, that is the reason for my videos to help others, Thanks for Watching and your kind words!!!!!
True that, some other videos didn't read/understand the instructions
It was fine for over a year but now it's leaking. I opened the bottom but somehow I cannot detach the back. They made it bit different from your other video, and it won't let me open it...
Sorry to hear that,
Gracias excelente Rewind
Thanks
Superb review! Thanks.
I got mine at wall mart
I bought this machine 2 months ago from Bestbuy and I loved it until I did NOT! the K-cup side stopped heating/boiling water. Once I put any temperature water inside and turn it on, it immediately pumps that water without heating it. I looked everywhere to find a solution. But unfortunately couldn't.
Sorry to hear that, I looks like a well built machine but you never really know what they do on the inside. Thanks for watching and maybe the manufacturer will replace it for free.
what kind of k-cup are compatible please help?
I was able to use most k cups in the coffee maker, I did not find one that did not work.
@@JustADad ok thanks for answering me relieved👍🏻
It would be very helpful to see a next video with the types of K-cup that we can use, sometimes the descriptions are not very clear. greeting 👋🏻
Will do!
Thanks for watching and that is a great idea.
thanks for answering my questions 👍🏻
You just sold me sir! Just ordered one from Wally world should be here today actually! I ordered it at 6am and they emailed me saying it will be delivered the SAME DAY by 9pm. That's just amazing service. Anyway did you have to "break it in" before your coffee tasted right or did it work good for the very start?
Good choice! Just run a pot of water through the coffee side side without any coffee in it and run brew though on the k cup side without a k cup installed. It is just a hot water rinse and your good to go. Thanks for Watching!!
Great video! Thank you!
Thanks for watching and your kind words!!! That was so nice of you to take the time and leave such a nice comment. Your kind words really do mean so much!!! I am so glad it helped and this is the reason I do my Videos To Help Others!!!!

What is your favorite K cup?
my machine won't shut off the element keeps on heating what to do
Make sure the brew now light is not on if it is push the brew now button to turn it off again. if that does not work you probably have a bad unit.
i have peets K cup and it doesnt fit... the lid doesnt close..it says "keurig" on the K cup...
Wow, it should have worked.
Good video 👍🏻
Thanks for the visit
I will keep an eye on this, thanks for Sharing
Very helpful thank you
Very detailed video. Thanks
Thanks so much for watching and you kind words, I am glad it helped. words like these keep me doing what I love (helping others)
At 12:49 I see a clear, empty Kcup. That implies it had instant coffee inside ( not uncommon).
BREW STRENGTH does not work with instant coffee ☺
Thanks for watching
Excellent video! thanks ♥
Thanks for watching and your kind words
I love this coffee maker. Does it have a charcoal water filter, or does one just need to use filtered water?
I made a video on it. Yes you can add a water filter to help with the taste. You can also just used Filtered water, just don't use distilled water. ruclips.net/video/kVetuBVAtwE/видео.html
@@JustADad Thank you. I will take a look at it. Illini, huh? 😀 Although I graduated from San Diego State, I grew up with Boomer Sooner.

👉👉👉Why are there some models with the same model number with a dim display and others with a bright display? Again to same model number 49976. If anybody can help THX in advance.
That's a great question. I hope someone can help you. thanks for watching!!
@@JustADad
I just ordered one from Amazon few days ago.
Thx. Great video!1👍👍👍
My old FlexBrew system that I had from Hamilton Beach lasted six years. Hoping this will last just as long.
@@JustADad
Update: I just received mine today it did not have the bluish colored lights display.
Apparently they must have removed the blue film or tint. Because it is white display...so it looks grayish white. But it is bright enough to see easily.
Additionally on the bottom of the box that was marked copyright 2020 so this just may have been a new generation of the same model number... without that super dim display. Still wish it was blue though!😀
THX again for making a great video!
Awesome I did not know they had different displays. Thanks for Watching and you kind words!!
P.s. I love the brewer. 🙂
Awesome I am glad you like it. Thanks for watching!!!
Great video. Well done

Wait. Where'd the k cup grounds go?!!! The k cup looked empty. In your mug?!
i think I just clean it out. the grounds will stay in the k cup
The water does not come out of the tank

Tea Coffee LOL
Thanks for responding to me ;)
@@fadetoblond Ok you have to stop, I can't stop laughing, just the thought of you Kicking the coffee maker down the stairs has put the biggest smile on my face and I can't stop laughing. Thanks for Sharing your story, this put a big smile on my face!!! I wish I could say I have never done this before, but once a VCR machine kept eating my tapes and I did the same thing to it. Its funny how I have turned into my Dad and say things like they don't make them like they used too. 🤣😂🤣🤣
@@JustADad Hahahaha! about the VCR. Too funny. I've tossed all kinds of things out the door and down the stairs. However, a VCR is not one of them. I always had pretty good vcr machines back in the day. What was funny to me was that my husband didn't even notice the coffee machine at the bottom of the stairs when he came home from work. He walked right by it, checked the mailbox and came in. The thing is big enough NOT to miss, but he somehow clued right out. I think he was blonde in another life. He's all grey now. lmao!
my comments aren't completely on here. That's weird
